KittehCoin (http://kittehcoin.com) is a coin with a fast growing community and has sprung up as a competitor to DOGE. Right now the logo for the coin is o-k but we want something better. Trying to run this straight and simple:

1. Contest ends on Caturday Night 1/5/2014 @ 12am US/EST time / 1/5/2014 5am UTC. Winner to be chosen by Monday 1/6/2014.
2. The "best entries" as chosen by the kitteh community will then be voted on in a poll-thread.
3. The winning entry will become the official KittehCoin logo (with the blessing of the KittehCoin dev team of course) and the winning designer will be paid an unnamed bounty to be found in the wallet: 1u2LJbXvSKq3NVJe8QFHzsP1fv8ehVqbo (https://blockchain.info/address/1u2LJbXvSKq3NVJe8QFHzsP1fv8ehVqbo). It will be at least 0.06BTC but may be more if my kitteh comprades donate! There is no upper limit!

For reference here is the current "official" logo which I get a very strong sense everyone wants to update. We want something more meme-like and less childish:

Oh hai! Loving the progression on these logos! Bottom right is a strong contender! Anyway to get a more "stylized" version of the dark cat similar to the lighter one in the bottom right or did you try that and the contrast was too harsh?

The other logos are great, but this one seems to be the best so far. Classy and super cute. My wife likes this as well. Female opinion matters!

Her comments are that the Kittehcoin should be at the top, the paws on the sides and Meow at the bottom, since it gives people a better understanding that it is a coin and what the coin is about.

Let's take Asia by storm with the Maneki-Neko (Lucky Cat), very appropriate as he is already holding a coin and represents wealth and is UBER popular in Japan and in China. this design is worth serious consideration.  The icon already has worldwide significance and recognition of good fortune and riches.  it would be dynamite to tie traditional symbolism for wealth with kittehcoin.

With this logo, Kittehcoin could become asian new litecoin. Asians are very, very superstitious.

I think this would be the most suitable. It looks powerful and it would be recognized by a lot more people than we would by using a meme.

I agree with FreePls - there is a difference - non of the graphics of sebastien1234's coin has been copied.

The only similarity is the white cat idea. Anyway, I prefer the kitten look to the cat look.

I think everybody who submitted logos should be rewarded for there efforts - it looks like a lot of hard work went into making them :)

So where are you guys getting all of these photos? I was looking to buy a few so that we dont have legal issues but even stuff on shutterstock prohibits use for "Logos, trademark, or similar applications of images". Is this really a logo like they are talking about? It seems different because no one directly profits from the logo, and the coin isnt really owned by anyone. What do you guys think?

The first logo I posted used one of my own photos; which I was willing to submit for use with only the restriction it wasn't sold; which I think is Creative Commons Attribution non-Commercial. i.e. the logo isn't 'sold' as part of the coin, it just represents it; so it wouldn't be a commercial use, but trying to sell the photo directly would be. Hopefully that makes sense.

The border was produced by another member; so the restrictions on that copyright would be up to them.

The second used a photo submitted by another user; so I can't vouch for the copyright.

These are great guys! Amazing work! The KittehCoin community recognizes everyone for their hard work, all finalists will get a lil something. I didn't want to state that upfront because then we'd get crappy logos just for free coins. Here is my attempt. I put in a simple version as well that may be more like what a baby kitten would use. The image of the kitten is from creative commons wiki so it is completely free to use, and I also verified that the font is ok to use. The rest I made.

Rubbish. Where you want to use this logo? It's obvious that it's new coin. Ripples, MasterCoin, MegaCoin, WorldCoin, DataCoin, DigitalCoin and etc. so many coins doesn't use actual coin look.

I now feel obligated to defend the integrity of Kittehcoin members.

So I went back and read all the posts to see what this confusion/unhappiness is all about and I found the following:

The administrator "danosphere" posted the finalists to be used in a poll to choose the winner! - see above, which was subsequently changed when the poll list was published - some left out and some added. Coupled to the fact that some of the coins added were previously disregarded with comments such as "We want something more meme-like and less childish" and "make kitteh younger so as not so close to older CAT?" and "doesn't look like a coin" ::)

Obviously this will make some people question the process and raise concerns over internal manipulation etc.  If you were going to add some more then add them all.

Everyone worked hard developing their logo's - well-done to all - maybe the prize money should be shared among all.

kittehcoin needs a face to their coin.

i think catcoin culture does not fully appreciate the symbolic significance of Maneki-neko, and its worldwide recognition (at least outside of north america).  it's up to you if you want to submit it, but i think it has more going for it than the catcoin symbol we are now stuck with.

Not too long after I submitted the original logo design for Kittehcoin this subreddit put a very similar logo on Catcoin, to reduce confusion, could you please change it to the Catcoin logo?
