Title: [ANN] Solcoin [SOL]
Post by: Solcoin Project on January 07, 2014, 01:04:24 AM

2014-06-01, Solcoin relaunched: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=633426.0

2014-02-26: An external developer is working on a new wallet, not just for managing your SOLs but also to connect Solcoin with some new possibilities and features. If the project is a success we will announce it as an official alternative wallet, and offer the developer to be a part of the Solcoin team.

Edit:   works now, but even tho i try localhost/127.0.0.1, i get no servers were found that could be used to get work from

Client is clean but has errors. No block source. Fail launch

Title: Re: [ANN] Solcoin [SOL]
Post by: Solcoin Project on January 07, 2014, 01:15:20 AM
Client errors are due to Qt5.2 (read description). Qt4.8 client coming up in a few days. Also, blockchain works, it's just that it seems offline since the two pre-mined blocks were done 7-8 hours ago earlier in the day before launch. Someone has already mined the first official block, just minutes after launch. Connection count is at 8... 11... 12... 13...

The error is just the wallet complaining when you quit it. It starts up and operates just fine.

Must be working - I see 20 connections and 9 blocks solved in total already.

I like that one. Nothing special as someone said but no crappy self-promotion/retard manifestos/imaginary connections with industries &awuful pre-mining , none of that kind of shit.
It's actually becoming pretty rare in the new coins  ;D

2 blocks were pre-mined (read description of what they are for). The other blocks are mined by users. You can inspect the timestamps of the entire blockchain to see that their dates are after the thread date.

cgminer dosen't work , with another coins yes in this coin no

You must have made some mistake with your config or miner setup. We tested it during development, and there are now 16 blocks created by 21 connections in the network, so it's working.

We didn't see this problem when developing and testing, but again we're sorry and it definitely must be because of the crappy Qt5.2. As said before we're gonna have a Qt4.8 client out in a day or two. Keep your eyes on the first post in the thread.

Thanks, except that doesn't help the rest of us...looks like it works for some people, but without a pool, or a fully working client, the people that are successfully mining (don't know how) are basically pre-mining at this point, so that when a working wallet comes out, diff will already be up.

* Subsidy halving twice: first time after block 131072 and again
after block 262144, stabilizing at 443 coins per block

This suggests there will never be less than 443 coins in a block?

* Approx. 696.3 million coins in total

So how is there a predicted total?

K.

Can't you use any rpcport= you want as long as it matches the .conf? Do you need port= in the .conf at all? If I understand correctly the rpcport is between your mining software and the client. The port is used to communicate with the network, but doesn't the mining software get the network info from the client anyways?

Title: Re: [ANN] Solcoin [SOL]
Post by: Solcoin Project on January 07, 2014, 03:33:56 AM
Second node is up. You can add it manually with "addnode=162.243.246.38", and it's also in the DNS seed rotation so it should happen automatically when connecting again to the network.

What is the port to solo mine on this?

Port 24360, but for mining you can use any other port you may want by just setting it with 'rpcport=...' in your solcoin.conf.

This suggests there will never be less than 443 coins in a block?

So how is there a predicted total?

Correct, there will never be less than 443 coins per block. BTC/LTC/etc. have a maximum coin minting limit which you cannot pass, no matter how you subsidize block rewards through mining.

Thanks, except that doesn't help the rest of us...looks like it works for some people, but without a pool, or a fully working client, the people that are successfully mining (don't know how) are basically pre-mining at this point, so that when a working wallet comes out, diff will already be up.

No, the blockchain will not fork just because we build the wallet software with a different version of Qt - they are not connected in any way. Everything about the currency and the network stays the same, but the new wallet won't crash for the people experiencing problems right now.

Has anyone that gets the runtime error found any blocks? Every time the client gets any rpc call from cgminer or bfgminer the client crashes. So I'm willing to bet even when it does run you are not actually submitting anything, just getting network info and hashing.

Not dead. Nodes are up, blockchain works, mining works. Difficulty is at 1.13, and users have mined 296 blocks in total since the launch. We're not abandoning this.

We're busy trying to wrangle with Qt4.8 to make a stable Windows wallet. It has proven harder than expected to get it to compile and run using MinGW, while the Qt5.2 wallet compiles with no problem but is for unknown reasons unstable for some users. As soon as the new Windows wallet is done we'll make it available together with an update.

Newer versions of Qt are a bit finicky with older versions of Windows. What version of Windows are you running? We have succesfully used the new wallet on two Windows 7/64 installations and one Vista/64 installation.

If you have no coins in your wallet, then try to simply delete the entire Solcoin dir from %APPDATA%, and then restart the new client. If you have any coins in your wallet then use the old client to export the private key for the wallet and save it somewhere for later. Then, backup your wallet file to the desktop, just in case, and then remove the entire Solcoin directory from %APPDATA%. Start the new client, let it download the blockchain, and then import the wallet's private key.

Hard to say when Qt is never returning a useful error message. All required DLLs are supplied in the zip archive. Me and the other developer will look into the problem again tomorrow.

Found the problem. A DLL was missing, managing to fool us by already being installed on the three test systems as part of another unrelated application. For some reason it wasn't even spotted by the dependency walker. The Windows Qt download has been updated and now contains all the necessary DLLs. Don't forget that you also need Microsoft's MSVC runtime libraries (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328), required for anything using Qt.

To be fair, there isn't much of anything here.  A quick look shows no website, no development plan, no mission, not even a gimmick of some sort, just a name that doesn't suck.  In playing the role of the skeptic, I'm curious as to what gave you that impression.

The nodes are part of the DNS rotation which the client will acquire on its own so you don't need to add them manually with 'addnode', but if you insist: 95.85.1.56 and 162.243.246.38. A third node should be available soon.

Title: Re: [ANN] Solcoin [SOL]

Not sure it is dead but I don't think so, the pool is running and the nodes are running too. I think the authors are just not the types to make memes and catchy image marketing for the coin but instead a more humble approach to try let the users govern where the coin will go. After all a coin cannot be killed since the source code and block chain is out there anyone can keep it alive. Solcoin Project replied just yesterday in the thread so I believe they are not leaving it hanging, but I think it will probaby take the route many coins do with being quiet after start and then months later when people notice it's still alive they trade and mine it again. If I got my math right the subsidy will half in 35-40 weeks so I'm gonna mine up a bit until then.

The link on the announce post on first page works for me, just tried it and it's the new updated client there with QT 48. Linux one works also.

Someone outside these forums asked a few technical questions out of curiosity, regarding network co-mingling, the genesis block and so on, and we thought we'd give the answers here for anyone else who might be interested:

Our client is based on the Litecoin sources (v0.8.6.1 to be specific), which stopped using IRC for node announcements/exchanging in an update made to Litecoin many months ago. The IRC exchange was where the risk of network co-mingling occurred for altcoins that hadn't changed their so-called "message start" parameter to be different from that of other coins. We have a unique "message start" for our coin, just for the sake of being proper, so even if the IRC exchange feature had still been in use Solcoin would not be at risk of co-mingling with other cryptocurrency networks.

The genesis block took 3 (!) days to generate due to the relatively high initial network difficulty we chose for the coin. It was done in a race condition setup on a slow-ish 3.16 GHz Core 2 Duo by running two separate instances of the daemon, each having a different nonce. The relatively high difficulty of 0.1 was chosen to lessen the risk of instant forking in case too many people would start mining at the same time. We noticed how easily this happened during the launch of Mooncoin, whose nodes and pools were instantly hammered beyond smooth use, partly due to its very low difficulty and partly due to all the anticipation that the authors had built up by announcing the coin with a future deadline, allowing for a huge gathering to line up for the launch. This is good marketing, and they succeeded very well in this aspect of their launch. We chose to make no grande announcement in order to have curious miners trickle in on the network one by one to slowly but steadily establish a single true blockchain, and it worked out perfectly. Part of the reason is obviously that we're not exactly suffering a huge influx of miners and interest in our cryptocurrency :P

The name and the geist of the coin is obviously inspired by Mooncoin. Someone has probably already figured out the few symbolic numbers present, as they represent geometry in general and the geometry of the Sun: 696 342 000 total coins is the radius of the Sun in meters. 1772 coins reward is the square root of pi without decimal tokens. 3.14 minute block targets... pi again. The symbol of the coin - the circle with a disc inside - is the astronomical symbol of the Sun.

So, what else...... We contacted CoinEX and Cryptsy today about an intro, and will post updates when/if they get back to us. Still working on the lottery and the faucet on our spare time, which currently is meager to say the least, but keep calm and keep your panties on; we're getting there sooner or later.

To be honest -  I don't think that any of these two will accept it yet. Sure, your coin had a smooth launch and seems fair from the looks of it, but it won't have any trade volume at this moment, which is the main reason for an exchange to pick up a coin. Care about some promotion, get the word around.

I agree. All coins need promotion. There will be no interest for trade platforms before coin will become popular. If CoinEX, for example, will accept your coin, there will be no trades id people don't have this coins. So what's the reason...

We definitely underestimated the amount of preparation we could have needed to get this currency off with good speed. It had a smooth and bump-free start as per our designs, but it certainly did not pick up as fast as we wanted it to. Having it introduced onto the markets is one step of the promotion plan, but we realize we also need to get the word out there, and get some faucets and coin games going as well.

Some users are getting the impression that we have abandoned the currency and left the coin to die - this is absolutely not the case. We're not leaving this project, but we can't seem to get things going quite as fast as we want as the two of us developing this currency both have daytime jobs to tend to as our first priority. While our work progresses slowly and with the looming chances of an unearthly marketing campaign being required, we're doing what we can with the time we have in order to reach these goals, be it sooner or later.

Any help and advice on PR and marketing is appreciated.

We still haven't decided on if a dedicated page is necessary or if it will just fragment the sources for information even more, instead of keeping all information in a single familiar place. Maybe we could use the initial wordpress page (http://solcoin.wordpress.com/) or use Facebook as suggested by user minecrew, in order to easier connect with people and allow them to comment and share information. Your help is appreciated, and if you have any suggestions please post - nothing is set in stone here, we're open for all options and offers.

I am pretty new to the altcoin game TBH but I personally look for certain things about a coin and 1 of them is a website that has some attention to detail. If the coin is to be taken seriously then there has to be some sort of reasoning behind it.

I started mining today cause your logo, name and the ease of setup. Seems silly but the name and logo are very catchy. If you want I can put some initial designs together and we can go from there.

I also have servers at rackspace I can use to host the site if needed.

Thanks

Not at all silly. While we dropped the ball bigtime on marketing, both of us understand the importance of brand appeal through the geist it communicates, and we'd like to think we did a good and humble job on the logo design and the name as well as the technical details behind the currency (the reference to the sun, its astrological symbol, its geometry, the block rewards etc.), without being too pretentious by sprinkling silly lingo and inflated descriptions around. We'd be happy to check out anything you put together, and really kind of you to offer hosting space as well. You can privmsg here on this forum or post designs publically in this thread if you so prefer.

As for any cryptocurrency, any contribution from the community helps the community grow. Just as for the mining, any other resource that people help out with, the bigger the chances are of this coin going places.

I've liked this idead. If there will be a Giveaway for votes, the movement will be much faster. :) And I think Cryptsy will not accept SOL at this moment. They already have too many trading pairs and sometimes big server problems occurs. I advice to write OpenEx (openex.pw). They have good dev and support team and they will be glad to see new promising coin.

I think that if they add this coin, it will help them grow. Now they have very low trading rates. If they will add SOL and some other alt-coins, that still not traded, they will grow much faster. So I think, that they are interested too.  ;)

I just made a giveaway in the altcoin forum to hand out 50k of my solcoins to promote. Anyone who has more ideas (and coins :P) please help out to. I really want to see this coin make it popular. It's here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=433903

Yep. Having more currency to trade is the foundation for profit for the exchanges. It's in their own best interest to support more coins.

I think that Cryptsy and CoinEX lose money in this case. Look at CoinedUp - they have listed TIPS, VTC, MEOW and VTC and they have 700 BTC trading volume now. If Cryptsy and CoinEX will be ignoring messages about new alt-coins, they'll lose money, nothing more. :) http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/markets/info. I hope SOL will be on market soon and will be growing very fast.

Yes though they have to keep a balance. CoinedUP is right now CoinedDOWN beacuse of overload. Not sure if Cryptsy is fearing that since they have such big problems already with less coin pairs.

That's their problem. I didn't trade on CoinedUp because I didn't sure that they will handle it. But the fact is that people want to trade and Cryptsy can't ignore this fact. They will add most popular currencies from CoinedUp for sure, adding more servers. But CoinEX is growing much faster now, so SOL has more chances to appear there.

Some admin locked the giveaway thread for some reason, they changed their attitude towards giveaway threads and they are no longer allowed. I've put up a new thread on CoinedUP's SubReddit to request market intro there: http://www.reddit.com/r/CoinedUp/comments/1wa002/please_add_sol_solcoin_to_the_exchange/

Help out by signing it and upvoting it to up the chances of SOL getting to CoinedUP!

We're waiting to hear back from user 'cflocation' if he had any special designs or ideas for a website. If he comes up with some specific look we'd like to use that for a Facebook page too. We have made an empty FB group page in the meanwhile, waiting to be filled with starting info about the currency.

This is what I got:

coins generated by me:

but my credit is:

looks like I'm missing about ~14k coins!
can anyone explain how this possible?

Hmm, same here. Approx. 15% are missing according to "coins generated"....I also checked with other pools I use. On some, like dedicatedpool.com, the "coins generated" is deactivated completely, on other pools that "coins generated" number is up to 75% (!) higher than the value in transactions is....WTF?  :o

Title: Re: [ANN] Solcoin [SOL]
Post by: roundrobin on January 29, 2014, 09:50:29 PM
Guys you're just misunderstanding how pools work. The "coins generated" is the number of blocks/coins you solved while working in the pool, but you share rewards with the others in the pool just like they share their solved blocks with you. 49 * 1772 = 86828, but not all 1772 coins per block goes to the miner. If one miner does 50% of all work on a block, that miner gets 50% of the block reward and so on, so the numbers are in order. If you want 100% reward per block you need to mine solo, but it's hard to get steady income, needs a lot of luck.

Ok, got it. It may happen that I give away most of the coins from a block I found, but at the same time, I'm receiving shares from other user's blocks constantly. Stupid me, its somewhat logical it has to work that way. Thank you for enlightening me.  ;D

I would agree with you if it was short period of time, but I'm speaking about day and half! For this period, the shares should be almost proportional to actual block finding, because the difficulty is not high and block is found very quickly.

If you are missing only 15% of the nominal block reward I think you have been either very lucky and should be pleased, or you have very high hashrate and doing 85% of all the work per block in the pool. But if you suspect something is wrong with that pool you should quickly contact the pool admins and ask that they review the transactions.

And 2014 is the year of Altcoins. That's not so bad situation, that Sol is not presented on market. It would be good if we have some more pools before. That's 100% up to community. All coins depend on community to keep it alive by mining and voting to make it on exchange for trade. Dev cannot kill it even if they wanted to (not saying they want, just making an example) since source code is open. Anyone can keep it alive by making more nodes and advertise etc. etc. I spent almost 70k SOL promoting the coin with giveaway to vote for cryptsy exchange, and it got some results with more miners and hashrate growing up some but I think maybe more people need to help out. The devs seem serious to me, they make updates, they ask the exchanges by e-mail and make voting threads for exchanges, but rest of community needs to be louder so more people hear about Solcoin. I've seen some coins that have slowly become quiet and "abandoned" and then later on people rediscover it and start to mine it more and volume goes up, exchanges notice it etc. etc. It may happen that Solcoin walks this road too, but spreading the word is required if anything is gonna happen.

I personally think the tech details of this coin are ideal. Not tiny number like btc/ftc/ltc and not insane number like moon/doge, so it hits a good middle spot and it's set to take at least 2 years to mine 50% of coinbase.

Yep, solo mining is unpredictable. But if you mining SOL constantly, you will get good result. But now it's much better to mine in pool. I hope that SOL Hashrate will grow to 50 MH/s next week, maybe... I've predicted growth from 2 to 20 MH/s last week, now it falled somebit. But there are some miners, who mine SOL constantly, so there are more reasons Hashrate to grow, then to fall.

Sure, devs need to contact pools and to do something in this direction. Because users like me don't have permission for contacting pools. :) But I heard that devs don't have time to do it now. Additionaly, if there will be more pools, it will lead ho hashrate growth and faster accept by exchanges.

I'm 100% sure that noone will complain if you contact a pool to have them consider Solcoin :) I mean cryptocurrency is an open source movement and a public movement and Solcoin has written in posts that they want people to participate in the coin by making pools and promotions and anything else to spread the word. Everyone can mine and everyone can run a pool and a node to help coins grow. You should just contact pool admins you know and help build the community, it's what I did with my 80k giveaway.

You have free hands to promote, market, support and grow this currency as much as you want. It's not just about mining; every effort done for a cryptocurrency helps it to grow. If you know pool admins that might be interested in supporting this currency then just ask away.

Please addnode  :)
Only one connection

I suspect it's a temporary network problem on your side - both the NY node and the EU node are running, and I can reach them with the wallet software:

Code:
[sol@solcnode1-ams ~]$ ./solcoind getblockcount
10651
[sol@solcnode1-ams ~]$ uptime
 13:17:38 up 29 days, 13:41,  1 user,  load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.05

[sol@solcnode2-ny ~]$ ./solcoind getblockcount
10651
[sol@solcnode2-ny ~]$ uptime
 13:17:44 up 29 days, 11:08,  1 user,  load average: 0.01, 0.03, 0.06

You don't need to add nodes manually as they are all in the DNS rotation, but if you still prefer to do so: 162.243.246.38 and 95.85.1.56

did anyone scanned the windows wallet before installing?

Nocoin helped us build the Windows Qt wallet since he has a perfectly tuned setup for it. We did scan the wallet just to be certain, and as expected found nothing with any AV software. As someone else reported virustotal.com also clears it.

Small update to the wallet software coming soon, with some new checkpoints, lower confirmation count, and minor graphical changes in the Qt client.

Maybe i'm not patient, but there is no progress with this coin.   :(
1. No site
2. No Facebook or Twitter
3. No exchanges
4. Just one pool
5. Small community
6. Small activity on forum
I look that other coins are doing well. Many pools, 100MH/s+, at least one exchange.

Maybe somebody have any suggestions about this situation?

Some important upcoming changes to the currency as a whole, and the wallet/node software:

After following discussions concerning future inflation/deflation of various cryptocurrencies, in particular Dogecoin, we've decided to take the same approach several other currencies have by completely removing the hard limit on the number of SOLs that can be mined - there is no longer a 696,342,000 maximum coin limit for Solcoin. Additionally, block rewards will be halved in several stages each lasting around 40 weeks, down to a permanent 27 coins per block after ~4.5 years. After the "service floor" of 27 coins per block has been reached it will take another 4.5 years until the old maximum limit of 696 million coins have been mined. Previous blocks will of course not be changed; all past mining rewards still count.

To make the currency stable for an eventual future seeing higher hashrate we have also implemented Kimoto's Gravity Well, to combat the side effects of strong pool-hopping as can be seen in f.e. Fedoracoin's and Mooncoin's troublesome difficulty swings caused by multipool.us. The KGW will be in effect from block 15000 and on - it is vital that all pool operators, node operators and solo miners update to the latest version of Solcoin before we reach block 15000.

The source code in our GitHub repository is already up-to-date with these changes. Updated Linux wallet/node software is available, and an updated Windows Qt wallet will be released soon. Note that it's not important to update just for managing your wallet, only for running a node/pool or solo mining.

And finally, to reiterate earlier requests to pool operators: we could really need a second pool...

Unfortunately, yes, but the KGW will also keep the difficulty even and shifting smoother regardless of how low the network hashrate is. In hindsight we should have implemented it already at the start, from block 1. Live and learn.

There's no future without exchange.
Coinmarket.io will list this coin if someone will pay dev listing fee. I saw that RapidCoin was released 2 days ago and they are already traded because they paid 40000 RPD.

Any ideas, how much you are personally ready to pay for Coinmarket.io listing?
It's legal and it will make coin grow much faster.

Where did you read that coinmarket.io lists currencies against a fee? As far as I'm aware all they've had is a forum thread (or voting poll) where they let users suggest which currencies they want to trade. 40000 RPD is at current exchange over 1.5 BTC. This fee seems highly unlikely to me.

I don't want to talk about RapidCoin... Let's talk about SOL. 812000 SolCoins are generated each day. It's too much. And someone with just 5 MH/s (small rig) can get about 270000 SOL/day. There's no fair distribution. Someone can just mine most of the coins. In this case only increased Hashrate can spread the coin.

But miners won't mine this coin if it will not have any profitability. If Coinmarket.io would agree to add this coin, I'm ready to give 500,000 SOL for this purpose. Because, anyway it has no price today, and there will be no investors and miners.

Doesn't this potentially fork the coin? Some wallets will accept blocks with coins that have matured for 72 blocks and older wallets will reject such blocks. Doesn't sound like a safe thing to do. I upgraded my pools wallet, but now I'm not sure if it was a good idea or not.

The correct chain is in the two official nodes, both running latest version with 72 confirmations. They are both at height 14185, hash 27513e565cc18a9dfa4bc7d15910e6810d3a8030769177be2dcd3de190a8c3b8. You might need to remove your blockchain and resync.

I also see that both nodes accept new blocks every few minutes, meaning at least one pool is mining, and I think it's updamoon.com which I know has updated to the latest github commit (f40fcd119a61f557e23794d657128451c6435930).

Yes, this had a potential risk, but it had to be done. Thankfully the Solcoin network is still small so the problem hit "only" one party, and I apologize that it was your pool that hit the snag. I hope you will have oversight with the bump in the road and keep operating your pool for the currency.

Both nodes and the other pool are running the latest version and they are in sync at the correct block - if you delete the chain and resync from scratch miners can resume on the old block path. Since we have few transactions going currently it only takes about a minute for the daemon to download the entire chain from the nodes.

It was sol.hash.so that didn't catch up with the main blockchain, I have account on there and on updamoon and it's updamoon that is one the same block as the nodes. I synced my wallet and it didn't have to download all the chain form start since it talked to the main nodes. I think the faster sol.hash.so admin downloads the whole new blockchain the better. I preferred mining on that pool to spread hashrate out since updamoon got most miners.

Yeah, everything looks good. I re-downloaded the block chain, but none of the blocks got marked as orphans. And well, I did upgrade pretty quickly, so I guess we got lucky. A bit stupid of me to forget to re-enable crons after the wallet upgrade :)

We have a problem, actually. Both hash.so and updamoon.com reports to have found block 14224, meaning there is a fork on one of the pools. Both nodes are in sync. I cannot tell which pool has forked because MPOS never reveals block hashes, but I suspect it is hash.so after all since updamoon seems to have a higher hashrate right now. Could admins of hash.so and updamoon.com verify that your latest blocks match the block explorer sitting on the second node? ( http://solcoin-explorer.tru.io/ )

Whichever of the pools are out of sync should kill their chain and redownload from the nodes, unless you're interested in trying to race for the longest chain.

Looks like it resolved itself, we won! :)

Looking at the "official" chain as represented by the two nodes, it seems the battle is still not over, unless there's still some big player doing solo mining involved.

add.: Ok, hash.so is definitely at the upper block height right now, but both pools are still fighting about catching up, unless one operator already deleted and resynced.

mpos takes some time to show orphan block, it can be 5-10 minutes, then you can see if that 14224 block fork was on updamoon.com or hash.so. But updamoon.com still asking 96 confirms for mature block so that might be a problem coming up later.

But Solcoin project why are you worrying about this? It's not a problem and it takes something extreme for a pool to have to delete their chain and download it again. Those pools will sort it out themselves when they notice an orphan, syncing up to proper chain automatically.

Because we have only two nodes. They are enough for this low hashrate and for just two pools, but since there was a fork and since the number of peers is low (two nodes, two pools) the worst case scenario is that one or both pools overtake the nodes, and then we have to resync the nodes instead.

I don't see the fork, both pools found the block 14224 at the same time. Both pools considered their version "valid". Other nodes in the network don't really care. And it was resolved when hash.so found the next block (14225). At that point updamoon wallet realized that their 14224 is not going anywhere and marked it as orphan. All looks very normal to me. A fork could have happened when we were running different versions of the wallets, but I didn't see it happen even then. (and I did redownload my blockchains when I first noticed that there might be a issue).

Yeah I think all went smooth, I don't think there is a problem now since the two pools show varying blocks found meaning no more orphans and no fork. Solcoin is just afraid he'ss gonna get more work on his lazy ass ;)

That's up to the exchanges in the end. There are voting threads on the first page where you can make your voice heard. Also some other exchanges like CoinedUP and Poloniex have been contacted, but they haven't gotten back with a response yet.

Several exchanges contacted, but no one is saying "yes" or "no" yet, they just wait with answering. I think higher hashrate is required before exchanges become interested, so it comes down to spreading the word and creating publicity for Solcoin.

There was one user who contacted us about a dice/wheel game, but the fee they asked was just too much. We have a simple lottery game we're working on but it takes time to complete since regular "real life" jobs are the first priority. It progresses, but slowly.

If you have any angles you can work to promote the coin then by all means do it.

It requires for example 0.01 BTC from 25 miners. Not so bad, maybe the developer can set up an address for donations.

BTC donation address for cryptorush.in (or other exchange) introduction: 1FPFihjV2xtyB1rPGAwj3QCvCfs7uW2KQe

The sum of 0.25 BTC is a bit steep for an exchange with minor volumes like cryptorush.in, so you guys decide where the donations should be spent - if you rather see the BTC being offered to a larger exchange like Cryptsy or CoinEX, that's where they will go. If no exchange picks up on the offer we'll just return each donation to the address they came from.

First target, the new wallet must be working properly. It will be test and improve repeatedly.

The new wallet project detail will announce recently(Now we is busy for planning this project, include schedules, art design, coding etc..., no more resource to write documents).

We welcome anyone to join this project.

New UI Solcoin wallet is too long text, we rename it, call "SolWallet".

Have anyone more better idea?

Donors List:
roundrobin Donated 7500 SOL for SoFund, thank you.
Anonymous donated 2000 SOL for SoFund, thank you.

DISCUSS

After the alpha version, we will debug code and stable it continuously.

And we will add new function base on this wallet.

In DISCUSS section, we will pre-release new functions concept to discuss.

We collect suggestions to improve new functions. Please no unconstructive syntax here.

"Common Wallet"

Description:
The Solwallet can be use single user or co-regulatory.
Single user's wallet is just like traditional wallet, but have more good sense and fashion style(more function in further).
For co-regulatory, send Solcoins must be confirmed by all of holders.
No one could be transferred coins alone.

The concept could be applied to exchanger or fund.
In exchanger, any withdraw must be confirmed by exchanger and account keeper(now by mail).

How to work?
First, we setup Solwallet in "Common Wallet" mode.
This mode is irreversible. When you set a Solwallet to "common wallet" mode, It can't change forever(we are just thinking how to do, maybe use blockchain info?).

Secondary,  Add all of holders by their one Solcoin address.
When Common Solwallet want to send Solcoins to another Solwallet.
It send 0.00000001 SOL to every holder .
The 0.00000001 SOL will be colored by information of this deal.

Third, Every holder's Solwallet will be received the 0.00000001 colored SOL. They must say "Yes" or "No"  to this deal.
Then, every holder's Solwallet back to 0.00000001 SOL to "Common Solwallet".
If all of holders agree this deal. The transaction will be executed.
If someone holder don't response this request, this process will be disabled after 60 Blocks(3.14 min*60=3.14hr).

That's our think. Welcome reply suggestion for me.

** We decided no more ask for anyone donate "SoFund", but the fund will proportionate increase from our team's miner(10% every week).

I agree.  This is interesting, innovative and progressive.  This is what crypto-coins need: organization.  They should at least try to LOOK professional if the communities themselves cannot act it.

The scenario is more complex than often described (the confusion between monetary inflation and price inflation f.e., which is a separate topic) and some of it is speculation as you can never foresee the future value or popularity of any currency, but... the main point with an unlimited (but slow) supply is to avoid monetary deflation due to the inevitable reality of lost currency as people will slowly forget or lose their wallets (or worse, as in the case of Bitcoin, where massive quantities have been seized and unlikely to ever be released again).

With current settings, assuming the currency doesn't fall into complete obscurity, it will take around 9 years for Solcoin to reach its initial planned maximum of ~696 million coins, and at that point Solcoin will already have been on the "service floor" of 27 coins per block for 4.5 years which should be enough to settle its presumed value based on a nominal supply of a mere 27 coins every 3 minutes. This also means that the number of coins in active circulation MIGHT end up less than the ~696 million planned.

SolWallet News:

We will delay to release the alpha version SolWallet before block 25000.
Because It still some bugs not to solve.
Not the old wallet and RPC connect problem.
The PRC connection is OK and dev team wallet is very stable(we tested all of that).
It is our UI issues, some functions not incorrect action.

We apologize this delay.
And estimate new release date before block 30000.

If you see the nodes running the coin is not dead, and we have no plans on shutting the nodes down or stop putting fixes into the software.

We understand that people are restless and impatient and want to "dump" and try cash out, we understand that the exchange intro is taking long time, but we can't force Cryptsy etc. to introduce Solcoin to their markets - they do it when they feel the currency enjoys enough popularity or when they are paid a lump sum.

The devs haven't abandoned it but it never made it to the early exchange train. I think too soon to declare dead since some asian guys are making a multiwallet of some sort with some new features for the coin, so time will have to tell.

I agree it's slick and polished, tidy and clean, no fuss or drama etc but it still may end up a moot point if no exchange wants to trade it. It looks bad since three months since the coin was created and no exchange wants it yet, but I think too soon so far to say. There have been other "dark horses" before that took longer to be exchanged, like Feathercoin. So, who knows what will happen.

There have been problems today and yesterday reaching the nodes and the block explorer when using OpenDNS. The nodes and explorer are up and running just fine, but OpenDNS have had problems lately in the form of returning random results for lookups. Those using OpenDNS should do themselves a favor by simply switching to something sane and stable like their own ISP's DNS or Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), not just for this purpose but for their general Internet use.

If it wouldn't be for Scrypt algo i would give it a shot...
Seriously devs, r u still working/supporting/developing this coin?..
Working on the new wallet have u considering the possibility to swap on a asics-proof algo?.. maybe one even more energy efficient?
I would like to mine it...
Thank u!
