at difficulty 0.000244  it will take roughly 10 mins to go to higher dificulty. probably diff 0.006. this will take probably 15 more minutes to reach 0.02. 20 minute later it will be difficulty 0.2 , then 0.7 and finally 1

for 1 Mh/s  averrage hash rig. and a minimum 200-300 people mining this coin from start

at difficulty  0.006000  ------- 3k-4k
at difficulty  0.020000  ------- 1k-1.3k

try  'http://127.0.0.1'  instead of  'stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1' unless you have a local stratum proxy running

Not sure about all the variables but if it works for you on pools that it should work with solo mining.
Only difference with solo mining you put in the 127.0.0.1  (u did that)
And you make a peacecoin.conf file and paste that next to your wallet data.. Windows its

it means you found one. but most likely someone else found one faster and your block got orpahned.

in your wallet you can open the console window (help-> debug -> console) and type in 'listtransactions', then you should see the blocks
with 'category:orphan'

all rejects for me solo mining... is there an 'instamine' situation possibly going on?  Target block time is 90 seconds but they seem to be found every 3 seconds.  Am I wrong to assume this is why I have rejects and there is no point to me trying to continue until the difficulty is adjusted?

Constantly losing shares on laiw.com pool. 26 stale shares so far.
This is the warning everytime: lost 13 shares due to stratum disconnect on pool 0.
No coins so far.

Each time the stratum server found a block, it froze with a pool 0 error, I pasted it above.

I've changed the stratum-server  i was using, no failure yet; but yes, shares were lost.

It just happened again as I was typing this:

You must have the wallet opened as long as it works as "mining server"... You can also run only the daemon, but with the wallet you will be able to see incoming coins :P (probably both consume similar computer resources)

I'm solo minng with 2.5Mh/s and finding blocks. I can see 'immature' transactions with 900 coins a pop appearing in the wallet. This is pretty cool.

Now click on the Show hidden files and folders option.

Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
 
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.
 
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

Press the Apply button and then the OK button.

wasted 3hours yesterday and I didnt got even a single coin!

Thats why peacecoin have a bad start. There are too many angry miners. I started with 2mhash for 10 hours. I mined 12k peaces. But i still don't know how worth it  ;D

the problem with my pool yesterday was divided equaly in 4 parts

1. stratum proxy on github - broken
2. ddos'ed with miners configured wrongly
3. aprox 200 miners trying to get on the pool more or less the same time
4. wallet daemon couldnt connect to any nodes

when at its highest my 1 gbit line got saturated, i couldnt even do any work on the server, to get the pool up

sometimes, people dont think, they just get angry...
shit happens from time to time, and yesterday, was one of those times, only one thing to do, do whatever you can
to get things going, and take it from there.

i remember, each coin haved bad start! because all users try access to same point. this is normally dont be angry! you can look to DOGE, COYE, Astro, 8, 42.

42 didnt have a bad start .. ya rest all the coins have bad start. pools just cannot handle that kind of traffic and they dont need to actually as that traffic is only for first few hours. why will a pool operator spend so much on hardware so it can work for few hours !! it norm here

i couldnt connect to 42 first 2 hours. i am sure. maybe you could connect but so many people couldnt connect.

First of all the coin is only a few days old.  The pump and dump people are gonna rush in and abandon ship shortly after it reaches an
exchange and they have sold off.  If you have faith in a coin just stick with it, it might take months or more for it to gain real value.

Secondly I was wondering if the diff is set to a number of blocks.  Now seems the big miners have gone and left diff at 16 so its gonna
take for ever to find the blocks that are going to lower the diff.  Is that a correct assumption?

If coin stuck at difficult 16, may be dev will change difficult retarget algorithm like a lot of coins did already to surrive big rig and multipools raping coins? So difficult can change every block.

Or more people have to start mining this coin, but to be honest it starts to look abandoned.

I've offered the dev to help a bit but no reply yet. I think it could have potential and would be nice if a percentage of the pre-mined coins where converted to fiat and donated to a charity, publicly viewable with proof, when the coin hits a major exchange.

Another one bites the dust! Not exactly a pump and dump, seeing as it didn't really move any big numbers, but certainly seems to be a stagnant coin. Hopefully we'll see a resurgence at some point, although I'm not holding my breath on that... I'm guessing it was too much work for the dev to keep up with.  :-\

Client is probably assuming (reasonably) that if the last block it knows about is more than X hours old it may not be fully synced.

The last block minted was 16288 which was about 2 1/2 days ago. Seems to be the entire network that has ground to a halt, not just your client. :(

Looks like retargeting is every 2016 blocks; last retarget was around 160 blocks ago, so it's going to be a LONG time before the next retarget point is reached, especially with lack of interest due to a difficulty of 16, and the loss of the exchange. Looks like pretty much everyone has stopped mining it, even the dev? (You can find around 1.25 blocks per MH per day at diff 16... not hard, probably just not worth it.)

No, that was a totally different problem; the network stalled due to a negative retarget. (I was the person that got GRW moving again)

Peacecoin is 'stuck' because difficulty quadrupled, and will not be changing back down for a very long time. This is the same problem that has plagued other coins - people jump on it, then difficulty suddenly leaps, everyone leaves because the high difficulty means it is no longer profitable, and the network effectively stalls. There is no technical problem with the client (apart from the ridiculously long retarget period), it's just that barely anyone is mining it now.

The loss of the only exchange that could trade PEC was probably also a factor.

How can it be fixed? In the short term, someone nice could throw some hashing power at it to keep the network moving. Being re-listed on an exchange would also pick up interest again.

In the longer term, the dev needs to release a newer version that retargets every block... but the OP account hasn't logged in for 5 days...

Unfortunately I can give only 19Kh/s to the newtwork, maybe a lot below difficulty of 16  :(

I've had a think about it and concluded it may actually be possible to pull off the same trick with PEC that I did with GRW. It would be more difficult but should still be doable.

The big problem is that doing this would invalidate the last ~165 blocks of the current chain, which means those who mined it lose their funds. That's 144k PEC down the drain. On the other hand, they're worth near zero if the network stays stalled...

The other problem is that if the coin takes off again we may see another 4 -> 16 diff jump, and we're back to square one.

If the programmer didn't come back in a week to solve, and no one with big power take it, maybe your ticks is the latest possiblity.

The wallet is working but barely any blocks are being found. It has taken more than 3 weeks to find the last 7 blocks.

Bear in mind that the network is virtually stalled. To generate sufficient blocks for a modest 3 or 4 confirms could take a week.

if all miners that are left would rally to it, i could reopen the pool, but we still need to get a retarget fast, so im all for your idea

Pretty much. Only 11 blocks have been generated by the network in the past 3 months, and the last block was minted more than 2 months ago. I'm surprised I'm still connected to 6 peers.

Actually I have't run yet across a coin with no peers , even tenebrix is still alive as I heard.

PEC will adjust difficulty in around 173 blocks; at 1MH/s finding those 173 blocks will take more than 4 months. No one is going to bother wasting their hashes.


You probably are synced, it's just that the network is not finding any more blocks.

No blocks found for 2 months, no PoS to allow transactions to be carried if PoW doesn't work, this coin is done...

In fine months maybe asics will become that cheap somebody will be able to push 10gh into the coin , you never know...

Bit confused here. Are you saying you are the OP (PeaceDev) of this thread, or that you happened to create a separate coin with the same name?

I can hard fork the code to get the network moving again - just did so with CAGE - but I need to know that there's support, that people actually want this. Right now I'm only connected to one peer, so I'm not even sure there is a "network" any more.
