How long will it take for me to find a block with 315kh/s? And as far as I understand, the wallet must stay open while solo mining, right?

It can be very variable specially when 2 stratum pools + 1 p2p pool are open now... If I were you I would join a pool at this moment... but anyway you can try luck mining solo...
You must have the wallet opened as long as it works as "mining server"... You can also run only the daemon, but with the wallet you will be able to see incoming coins (probably both consume similar computer resources)

I'm solo minng with 2.5Mh/s and finding blocks. I can see 'immature' transactions with 900 coins a pop appearing in the wallet. This is pretty cool.

Is there a delay in the block reporting?  The pool has gone a while since showing a found block.

If you want to improve your rate and thereby slightly raise your payout, please take a look at your miner configuration with respects to gpu-threads & queue - see https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool#Miners , and the section about latencies on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=153232.0. It could also just be distance-related latency, in which case there's little you can do, but at least I should mention this
