Title: To all BMs, here is a list of fake French translators - help us tag them !
Post by: kenzawak on June 02, 2018, 06:19:48 AM
I'm asking the mods for their help here.
The French community is getting sick of all those guys taking advantage of the fact that we don't have a mod in our section. They keep doing horrible translations of ann and bounty threads, using Google Translate. Most of what they write makes no sense at all. It's just easy money for them. It's not good for us, it's not good for the projects and it's not good for the real translators who find it hard enough to get a job. And in the end, the whole french community sees its reputation tarnished by these assholes.

A few of us have decided to take care of the problem but this is getting out of control. We can't contact all the BMs, hoping they will listen to what we have to say and fire those guys.

So, we're gonna list some of those frauds, hoping some of you (hopefully DTs) will tag them as well.

List of fake French translators (approved by the French community) :

They don't care in meta (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2961670.0), why would they care about it here ?

You really want to open one thread for every bounty cheater in french translation ?

We will spam this section if we do so, but why not, maybe one day they will hear us.

You will need many many proof and time for every cheaters before a DT tag him/her. All what we need is a moderator.

I understand that not many of you feel concerned by this situation but since the new merit system, lots of us want cheaters to be exposed... and this is what these guys are.
They take advantage of the situation as there is no mod in the French section and the BMs can't check every dam translation.
It's not only about us French guys complaining (once again) , it's about the whole community.

If you ask me, this is on the same level as account farming and worse than spamming for signature campaigns. They're taking money from others (the real translators, the projects they work for...) without any effort.

Us French guys giving them red trust is clearly not enough as we are not DTs... their accounts need to be rendered useless.

Report topics to moderator and write this in comments: 27. Using automated translation tools to post translated content in Local boards is not allowed or report them directly to kcud_dab (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=85550).

I don't speak your language so I can't tell the difference between google translation and real translation, sorry m8.

Let's start with this one : daoudhichem (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1380151)
Here is one of his translations : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3808739.0
And a picture he was supposed to translate :

http://i68.tinypic.com/nezzo2.jpg

Which one is it ? MRN token or MNR ?
"convertation" is not a word, at least not a French one !
"populaires" is used as an adjective, there should be a noun before it ! In English, it would be like saying "as well as the popular"...ok but the popular what ?

And the rest is clear use of a translating tool, it makes no sense at all.

Of course, you are right John (I never went through the whole thread though  :D). In this case, it wasn't much about them especially, but more to show how many of them we are dealing with !

More will come...

We're doing that but kcud_dab hasn't been moderating anything for months now !

We're also contacting the BMs here and even on telegram but we can't do it for all of them. Plus it's sometimes "too little too late" as they already have the job... and I'm not talking about the BMs who don't really care at all.

If their accounts could get tagged once and for all, it would make things much easier.

One more name : falsieght (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1802260)

This one not only does terrible french translations, he also does them in Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, German... I mean, seriously ?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1802260;sa=showPosts

I can't be sure 100% about the other translations but the French ones are shit !

This part is enough for BMs, no ? (I didn't saw your edit)

Good idea, your list will grow really fast. If one of this bounty cheater is not happy with our red trust then you/we will provide more proof into this thread.

Another one : Rggadi (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1254969)

I'll admit this one does speak French (that doesn't mean it's his native language because it clearly isn't)... but like a 12 year old would.
His grammar skills are terrible, he translates only half of the work (almost all pictures are still in English) . But the worst part is he applies for every translation possible, stealing the work from real translators.

We exposed him in a French thread, he was so ridiculous.

Another one who is top notch : birdie_ale (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1640720)

Example of a previous work : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4398050.0

It's a mix between French ,Italian and I believe Romanian.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4393794.msg39140827#msg39140827
Romanian and Italian translation reserved
Also doesn't bother modifying images.I guess it takes too long writing the whole text in Google Translate. It's much faster to do a copy and paste.

Quote
Ces nœuds constituent le backbone
Wtf ??? Backbone is not a French word but I guess he didn't find any matching word in Google Translate.

EDIT :just found out he also does turkish translations lol .
french and turkish translations done:

It's really much better, but I don't get the proof link...

I think you are talking about the links which redirect to this page. The reason is that the proof was on the initial post in the first version, before kenzawak removed them to have a cleaner thread, so only the first names are concerned.

No no ^^ I think there is no need for these proofs anymore, if someone asks it's easy to show that they used automated tools only.

The title is ridiculous :

It's a shame because it seems like he actually put some effort into his translation. He did modify most of the images but again, it proves that you can't do a decent job if you use a translating tool for a language you don't speak.
There's way too many mistakes in there.

I.e : this "Boltt est sur le point de devenir un chef d'entreprise" ?" means "Boltt is becoming a CEO ?" ,Boltt being... the name of the coin.   ???

Another one : techte7 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1142533)

He "translated"this :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4448646

Most images aren't modified.
He clearly used a translating tool :
-"une monnaie anonyme qui rassemble".... no it's "qui ressemble"
-"Furtif adresse" ... he thought he could mix English and something close to French. You say "adresse furtive" not this. Not even sure what "adresse furtive" has to do with the rest of the text anyway.
-5 differents niveaux de recompense de jalonnement . ???  Niveau = jalonnement .Why put the same word twice in the same sentence ?
-Les investisseurs avertis commencent à réaliser que les masternodes are a great passive income sources.  loool did he just forget to translate half of the text ?
-Si vous trouvez une pièce nouvellement lancée ou celui que vous pensez pourrait décoller à l’avenir... what ???? Doesn't mean anything.
-Vous pouvez prédire assez bien combien d'argent vous obtiendrez mensuellement de votre masternode... unreadable !

This is only in the first two paragraphs. It's simple, I can't find one, just one sentence that makes any sense at all.

Oh and he is another who thinks discord in French is "discorde" .I wonder what Twitter or reddit are in Google Translate. Twittere ? Reddite ?

I got tired reading those clowns in the French forum. You spend twice as much time reading their bullshit. I admit that with some, you can have a good laugh with their translation. Most of the time I read 3-4 lines and close the tab so I don't get a headache, I don't even visit the website.

This one's easy to spot.
Just the fact that he calls a "whitepaper" a "feuille blanche" is indeed disturbing lol and a first hint.
Just as you open up the file, you can see that the guy's not gonna bother translating images as he decided to keep the title... in English.

As you scroll down, other stuff easily catches the eye :
-"L'objectif de cette feuille blanche et de presenter le systeme financier..." . "Et" means "and" in French. Here it should be replaced by "is"...a verb. Common mistake ? I doubt it.
-"Les utilisateurs peuvent utiliser ce qu'ils vont appris..." .Ouch ! Where do I start with this one ?Let's try to translate his translation. The result would be "users can use what they will learned" .Future, past ? Users use ? Really ?
-"Orbis Transfer Monetaire Mondial et investissement est le future" Ouch again ! I would call this Frenglish if it was a language. Mixed words, imaginary words... definitely not a sentence either way.
-"Notre equipe essaie de lancer la plateforme en 10 mai 2018" >>>"our team is trying to launch the platform in may 10th 2018". How about "on may 10th" ?
-15 aout 2018 : liste et trading ORBS et echanges" >>>"Aug 15th 2018 : listed and trading Orbs and exchanges"  ??
-"Services legales" . We say "services legaux" ffs !

I don't think I've read one, just one sentence that makes any sense here.
Garbage, just pure garbage made by a lazy scammer.

Actually, just going through this gives me a headache. This is I believe the worst case we've had to deal with so far.

Am not a professional translator. After noting that there is a lack in translators for French language, i thought i may improve my skills in translation and valorize my time. I used google translator for the traduction of some complicated sentences to find the appropriate form but it wasn't all made by google as i put a lot of efforts. I had mistaken doing this but i wasn't about to scam anybody as i didn't get paid for any translation.
I just discovered the Red Tag now. That was my first translation in the BTT forum and am working on the translation of two threads that i will stop translating them and inform managers to contact other professional translators.  I won't apply anymore for more translations.
I think this is fair enough.
Thanks

No there is no lack of translators in the French forum lol.
There is just a huge amount of scammers like you who try to take advantage of the fact that we don't have any mod there.

How ironic that someone (you) who says he wants to track down fake translators (read above) is being exposed as one himself.

And you didn't get paid because the BM of Orbis removed you from his spreadsheet, you were no volunteer lol.
And what about those two other jobs ? You were gonna volunteer too ? Come on !

Nice try !

This is what i thought because i saw a lot of campaigns that have not applies for French translations. I tried to take advantage of the fact that am an active user in the forum with enough knowledge of french and english languages so i may build a profile for translation services.

Yes this is ironic. But i was really thinking that i can help. My willing to track fake translotors wasn't a part of a scam strategy to eliminate other translotors or to build a reputation.

Yes it started with Orbis project; in their spreadsheets i found no applies for french translation for the whitepaper as in the apply form here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfCrDpVhDVXEppfPi7_xyFxcnJFHAgCKgWMVA2njoM2Vz89Rw/viewform) there is no requirement for a translation profile as i got the confirmation from the manager by pm that i can start if am marked green. Here it is:
Hi Orbis bounty manager,
I applied to translate the whitepaper to french and i can see my entry in the spreadsheet. But how to know if am accepted or not. I already started the translation but i still need confirmation from you. Please let me know if am not accepted.
Thanks

if you're marked green, you can start

Would you consider this as a try to scam the Orbis project? Although, paiements for Orbis bounties is sheduled to be distributed after the ICO.
All my willing at that time is to start building my profile. After being marked green, i finished the task (only 6 days permitted for translation) then submit the link in the Orbis bounty thread. One day after, my work was added to the spreadsheet so i thought it's accepted then i started appling for other jobs.
I was in contact via email with Project Aiur (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4457744) to translate ANN and bounty thread. I contacted the manager informing him to look for another translator with a big sorry.
Project Onasander (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4456125) also accepted me to complete the task of translation (contact was also via email). I did also contacted the manager informing him to look for another translator with another big sorry.

Last apply for a translation was this morning and if i will be accepted i will also contact manager that am not good enough to complete the task.I won't apply for any other translation job.

Nice try !

Am not explaining my situation here to beg you forgiveness!!
Yes you were right!! am not professional enough but i did not try to scam anybody neither any bounty.
I got Red Trust for my Nice try and i think this is fair enough.

Most likely the person who pays doesn't know the target language (otherwise why would they pay someone to translate) so yeah... this is a bona fide scam vector.

And yeah I guess some of them got paid, we can't catch them all at the right time.
I can't speak for BMs so I don't know what is checked and what is not. Some of them probably don't care and some probably wouldn't know how to recognize real French.
I just hope this list will clean things up in the French board.

Depends on the bounty manager.

Some of them compare their translations with google translate in languages they don't understand themselves. Other ones create a proofreading task.

Most of them just trust the translators/wait for someone to contact them like we do.

Using a translator tool to translate something is no different than scamming the bounty manager and the project itself. People are abusing the fact that the guys don't speak the language to check the job quality.

You must be trolling, right? Not any full sentence makes sense. You have zero knowledge of French and any French citizen can see it while reading.
If nobody applied for a translation doesn't mean someone is eligible to complete the task using google translate or alike

Using a translator tool to translate something is no different than scamming the bounty manager and the project itself.

This is your own opinion but you say it as it is a general truth as it doesn't break any forum rule. Why should we use translating tools in general?? For those who are not native speakers of such a language, may be find help using those tools. I don't mean using them as the only way for translation but google for example can't well translate context and this is why it's not recommended. In my case, i confess that i found help using it to translate many technical terms but i wasn't able to finish the work and check it twice in just 6 days requierement as it was my first try.

People are abusing the fact that the guys don't speak the language to check the job quality.

People are called scammers because majority of bounty managers don't check the works before paiements; if they can't speak all languages, there are many solutions to verify translations:

No  :-\

It doesn't mean someone is eligible to complete the task using google translate or alike but it means that anybody can take the chance to do the work then managers have to check the work and take the decision to accept or refuse it. But BM ignore the task and wait for someone to contact them.

It does.

Posts in local boards have to be written in that language.

You aren't writing french when using these tools. Period.

All bounties I have seen state that using automated tools is forbidden. So you are basically stealing/scamming while trashing the local boards.

Thanks for your replay asche.

This is your own opinion but you say it as it is a general truth as it doesn't break any forum rule.

Posts in local boards have to be written in that language.

Yes that's right! This is why i didn't try to start trying translations with threads that have to be posted in local boards. This rule is one of forum rules that should not be broken and i didn't break it until confirmation that my works can be accepted.
Reminder; i translated one WhitePaper which is Orbis WhitePaper (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VbPUfhL8yPzq4gepieypC57RoLruwM-p/view?usp=sharing) and after being accepted and added to spreadsheet, i started applying for more Translations. I tried to explain it here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4404879.msg39981418#msg39981418) and that i didn't scam anybody or break the forum rules (Indeed, i thought that managers are responsible to set rules for their campaign and if breaking those rules in someway will not lead to Red-Tag if it doesn't in contradiction with the forum rules. If you find the reason to call me a scammer, then please set rules before for managers on how to run properly their campaigns. Am not trying to prove innocence for translation scammers that use local boards to post their fake works but how to call a scammer a scammer if he didn't scam anybody and didn't will to scam anybody. After receiving the Red Trust, i contacted those who accepted me to complete translations informing them to hire other translators.

All bounties I have seen state that using automated tools is forbidden.

Here we are talking about breaking the bounty rules. You break the rules then you are disqualified from the campaign and may be blacklisted for other future campaign as it may be reported to forum Mods in case breaking the forum rules. Some other notes may be interresting for Detectives who called me scammer/faker (without a proof it's an insult)
- Are bounty rules considered sacred and we should punish those whose breaking them?
- How to call someone who applied for two translations or more per day and appears to be able to translate 10 whitepapers and 20 threads and moderate them all, in just one week?
- Would you please provide proofs that i scammed any project or breaking any rule of the forum?

So you are basically stealing/scamming while trashing the local boards.

I totally agree with you, but i didn't post anything in local boards. Detectives did an awsome investigation about possible works but found nothing.

- Are bounty rules considered sacred and we should punish those whose breaking them?
Well the point of the thread was to make BM's aware of people with low quality translations. You can see that as a punishment.

- How to call someone who applied for two translations or more per day and appears to be able to translate 10 whitepapers and 20 threads and moderate them all, in just one week?
Three possibilities:

  • He has minions working for him, as long as it is good work I don't have any issue with it.
  • He is heavily using google translate and you should put his name here, or in another thread so that he can get tagged
  • He is a mother**cking genius

I didn't get it was "just" a Whitepaper. My bad. Basically you just hustled a team then/stole money from someone who would have done a good job.

The ironic thing is that he wants to offer his services to track down bad French translators (ans other language) : http://archive.is/PXjql

What are you looking for? what is done can't be undone.

The ironic thing is that he wants to offer his services to track down bad French translators (ans other language) : http://archive.is/PXjql

Please keep in mind, that statement was based on good willing to help community and not a part of a scam sheme like you continue describing it !!!
I wrongly evaluate my skills in languages and this is why i wrote that post and this is why i tried to contribute for translation services.

What are you looking for? what is done can't be undone.

Maybe am not looking for your mercy Lord JohnUser!! I provided details in my last posts about how this did happen with me and the confusion in my head about forum rules and bounty rules. I find this as an opportunity to discuss it. User asche had politely discuss some points with me.
Am looking for you to not have a bad attitude about me, trying to describe that am not a scammer.
