Title: I never held this much bitcoins.
Post by: bitcoinsc on September 29, 2018, 02:11:40 AM
I jus dump half my investment from stocks into btc. Now I'm fully invested in bitcoin. Before I had invested in bch and it dumped. While I converted to fiat. Long story but I'm still alive after the ath 19k n buying the dip. I thought it was going to 4k. But i guess its a good time to buy now. Best of luck.

And how much you are holding now.
I am sure before buying that full bag of bitcoins you had some thoughts which made you buy them. No one goes in the market and start buying stuff immediately without looking at its best part.
Everyone does know its a 50-50 situation in the crypto all the time. You either win the profits, (hell of profits) or you can loose the money to death. Lolz.
I think you will be find over the course of time if you ever wait for the right time point to hit the right price.

what do you mean by stocks? is it actual stocks as in shares of a company or are you calling "altcions" stocks? if it is the former then if you really did it with half then it is a good thing but if you did it with all your stocks and sold all of them, then it is a bad idea because you don't have any diversification in your investment. (since you said "fully in bitcoin" i can't say what  you did!).
but if it is the later then you are making a big mistake by not diversifying. and diversifying means having bitcoin and actual stocks in the stocks market or anything else that is not a cryptocurrency and is worth investing into.

How did you call it "fully invested" if you only sold half of your stocks? :P

Anyway, not sure if you did the right thing or not(because we don't know for sure if $5800 is the floor), but patience is going to be key here. Just make sure your holdings are secure(preferably on a hardware wallet), and wait.

And how much you are holding now.
I'm also curious, but telling people online how much bitcoin holdings you have is never a good idea. Unless you want to be targeted by hackers.

At one point I had shares of stock after bch went down from 1200$. Now I sold all the shares n bought bitcoins because I feel a pump is coming. I been doing graphs and learning everything this year. I can't say how much btcs I have but I'm middle class and don't pay for rent lol

Many analyst practitioners from bitcoin give a statement that bitcoin will soon recover, if seen from the technical analysis side, it is true that the price still cannot be penetrated in the $ 6300 area which causes bitcoin to remain stable and strong for the position not to be excessively bearish. But I myself am still waiting for the right moment, maybe waiting for prices to return in the area of $ 6900 to buy bitcoin.

Your investment “strategy” has lots of odds of leading you to bankruptcy: acting on feelings, not diversifying... That’s what basic investment principles tell you not to do. At least you are buying the dip, and not the ath.

first of all you should never listen or follow the hype. specially by people like McAfee who are doing it for profit they gain in short term and don't care about the long term of bitcoin.
secondly bitcoin is not a buy some and get  rich quick scheme. it is a currency. try to learn more about it. I promise you won't be disappointed if you past the fiat profit.

You aren't alone in this ATH disaster. Many who thought bitcoin was a get rich quick investment are also suffering this fate. Besides, you dont trade or engage this market in "I thought it was going to 4k" kind of decision. You trade what you see and not what you feel

And how much you are holding now.
I'm also curious, but telling people online how much bitcoin holdings you have is never a good idea. Unless you want to be targeted by hackers.
Noob error. I am sure he will soon learn but I hope not the hard way.

no i had bch back then . it took a dump so i moved half into stock market. and now i realise its a good time to buy bitcoin before its too late. so im not buying stocks anymore but buying crypto currencies.

will i think people be buying crypto currencies? of course. poor countries will need it sometimes due to inflation . maybe people dont agree with government situations. will it go up through hype? of course. i think lighting network should be live anytime soon but still it not work and bugs. i think the bitcoin block halving will shoot the price to the moon after 2020. I think the more people that work in america will be buying crypto as time goes on. i think the asian countries are buying up all the bitcoin. more than the americans. i think silicon valley should be buying up all the cryptos but they arent. too many millionaires investing in bitcoin. i was late on the boat not gonna let this happen to me anymore. i still got money to invest because its still below 7000$ i think 8000$ is the point where i stop. still addicting this cash machine.

haha i think warren buffet is a good investor. his investment tactics. but he is against tech stocks but he likes apple stocks. he hates bitcoin as a currency. some ppl are good at what they do. let them do what they do and let bitcoin change the world and become a currency. bitcoin will act as a currency where you can use it digitally. some ppl say bitcoin to some is not an investment but a currency where u wont need to withdraw.
it would suck if u lose a loan over bitcoin but still in the end. you are holding that bitcoin. unless u panic sell n rebuy at a higher price.

Good luck to us but its unlikely that it will become $1,000,000 by 2020. Don't also mislead to say that you have "stocks" with BCH, you have an altcoin before.  But at least you chose the best one instead of dwelling with the fork one. I want to know how much you hold but its very unusual to say that thing so keep that. Halving by 2020 will commit positive increase in terms of its price but that's too much for $1M.

You mean you are going long on bitcoin right now? Nothing wrong's with that strategy but I hope that you have that mentally to really fight temptations to dump it when the market is on a panic mode.

If you are in it for a long haul a good 1-2 years will be good test and see how it goes for you. I'm glad that you made the switch from BCH->BTC because that coin is for pump-and-dump. Yes you can enjoy the ride but sooner or later who will go and suffer a lost. Goodluck then and just wait for the next all-time-high before taking some profits.

Investments in Crypto currencies are a high risk investment and any balanced portfolio should have some high risk investment options. The challenge is not to over invest in high risk investments. <So never go ALL IN on one single option>  ::)

I will never tell you how to invest your money, but I can share my experience from years of investing and I can tell you that a ALL IN approach on one commodity or financial option is never a good idea.  ::)

you don't know that! all you know is that Warren Buffet has talked against bitcoin. that is all. other than that Warren may be one of the biggest bitcoin owners in the whole world who has been silently accumulating bitcoin in other words dumping his fiat for bitcoin and all this "negative talk" might have been in order to keep the price down as long as possible so he can convert more of his fiat to bitcoin without anybody noticing. you know you can't do off-the-market perchance of large quantitates in one go as millionaires do. so you have to break it  down into chunks and that will take a long time.

Profits will be profits, no matter what you make them with. With that in mind, right now you can't use bitcoin as a currency. It is more like stocks discussed here, and if you want to use bitcoin as a substitute for a currency, you should sell it first for something which can actually be used as a currency, say, dollars. But if you can't, it doesn't really matter how long you are going to hold your coins. For example, if the price surges tomorrow to over 20k (let's imagine that), would you keep on holding just because you think "bitcoin is not "a buy some and get rich quick scheme"? For most people, the answer would be straightforward, and it would be about not missing an opportunity "to get rich fast".

Better to see the opportunity on this dip from last year than to feel depressed because you are waiting for long run for price to increase from what you invested. It is good idea to buy more volume at the price it has now because when it increase, it can give good profit and waiting can be worth it. I believe on the potential of bitcoin and as the price down, do not doubt to have mor volume because I know we could not tell what the future will bring.

In this current situation where again btc is on bear market and it had just played between 6.4K to 6.7K level and with this scenario, I still believe that btc will still be the main cryptocurrency that will make history back again. Despite of this down trend, many people are favorable for this present market where they could buy more btc at this lower cost and same with the whales whose intention is to make the btc market in bearish for their own interest in purchasing huge amount of btc at a lower price while they wait for it to go up trend once again gaining huge profit soon.

This is how many people are inclined to think, just turn around and witness with your own eyes that your neighbors are definitely conspiring to do something bad against you. People tend to excessively complicate matters as they are always looking for logic and reason behind certain, or just any, events. In this case they are trying to explain price moves with a mindset with which they see things in real life.

So whenever the price goes down, it is a conspiracy to shake the coins from the weak hands. If the price goes up, it is an effort to grab profits by the whales. And even when the price moves in a narrow range for some time, it is none other than "a huge manipulation going on to control bitcoin's price".

To be honest, I am the follower of the Warren Buffet's rules and one of such rule is "Never test the depth of water with both feet" and hence, I personally diversify my investment option to spread the risk across the multiple options. However, if the OP has the proper research to support his investment decision of investing high share of his capital in the highly volatile currency then I don't see any issues with it as far as he has risk bearing capacity of that amount.

im just taking my chances. 1. lost my chance when i read up about it from winklevoss twins. 2. not going to fomo while everything is happening. 3. invest in crypto currency to retire. im still young i might be working after crypto goes to the moon. everyone is buying up crypto. probably kids now adays will be working at kfc, mcdonalds age 15 to get a piece of the crypto. there are many moon stories that will create fomo of all ages. just too bad i dont act on it sooner. Graphs and stocks most of the time repeat the patterns. if history repeat it self it will go to the moon once again.
i think i got alot of bitcoin and i dont think i need anymore. im still employed and not sure if i should buy btc or buy eth or other top 20 cryptos. some crypto just keep on dipping so sad.

You made a good decision to join in the crypto and invest your money in here. And I give my salute to you that you still survive in the difficult moment this year although you buy bitcoin at $19k. Soon, when the price increase higher than $19k, you will be back to make a profit. I agree that right now it is a good time to buy more bitcoin because if the price starts to increase, then you can be late to buy at a low price.

Many people say like you, it's true this is the right time to buy because if bitcoin last year could reach $ 19k then in the future Bitcoin could do it again or even bigger.

What makes you really sure that investing in btc will profitable for you ? Bitcoin value can falling more deep any time in the future, no guarantee it will rise.
But i guess your choice is a good one because btc has stabilizing at $6k, maybe it is the bottom of btc.

I do think you are right in the sense that the bottom has already been put in, and 6k is great for a long-term position.  Could be a while before we really get going, but I think anything is better than traditional stocks and equity markets peaking at grossly overbought all time highs currently.  Good timing with the stocks as well.. may be a bit of fumes in the tank especially with tech stocks, but it's better to pull out safely.  Best of lu ck.

and you also have to remember not to put all your capital as a bitcoin investment, my advice is you also have to prepare properly the conditions that will occur in the future, for example the price drops you can still make ends meet with the remaining capital you have. dividing capital into two is very good to use for investment and for daily needs.

While I definitely agree with your view as there is plenty of space below where bitcoin can slide into, the way it remains stable for the last few months, with minor fluctuations in either direction, gives us a bit of hope that it has finally found its real "fair" price (as you write yourself). I don't advise to go all in but buying some bitcoins now may be a good idea after all. That's what I'm doing myself anyway.

And let's not forget that with every day passing by, we are closer to the next halving which will have a noticeable effect on bitcoin prices to the upside, probably starting since early 2019. To sum it up, with time passing and bitcoin price being rock solid, the risks of it falling substantially lower are diminishing. What it means everyone decides for themselves.

Bitcoin is becoming more popular than ever, and it is a good signal because it helps people get out of the grip of banks. Stakes in many organizations are for diversification or investment. Long term may be more solid than most bitcoin traders today, which makes bitcoin affordable and at the same time makes it more attractive to other investors and retailers. The disadvantage of bitcoin is quite large when it is considered worthless and declared death not less than 112 times. The advantage of bitcoin is quite large. Bitcoin is 10 times bigger than Linden Coin at its peak.

Guess at pointed out much earlier, selling half of existing investment in stocks doesn't quite qualify as "all in" or fully invested. Which is a good thing since all eggs in 1 basket is really a recipe only for those who have the luxury of living alone with no hope or desire of ever gaining any dependents.

I'm as much a believer as the next, maybe no stash of coins that qualifies me as a significant holder, but much faith and much hope. Sort of the way am a lifelong fan of a sports club that has so much potential but may never achieve true success in my lifetime;)

Bitcoin of course has far greater fundamentals, but it is still, after all, an experiment unfolding with no real end result in view. But yes, every day that passes without the dream crashing down around us in one day closer to that point of no return.

Doesn't really help because there is no way you can entirely avoid knowing about prices with how we are entering the mainstream world. I tried it for a while but gave up on it with how pointless it is.

Even if your current target is to hold your coins beyond 2020, the price increasing with 50% this year will very likely be so tempting for you to cash out, that you will actually do it. Most people aren't firm hodlers.

It's insanely difficult for people to resist the temptation of selling, especially if they start thinking about how the price can go down and you miss out on a selling opportunity. It's a mental war game for real.

It is better for him to not reveal the exact number of coins that he's holding because if he does then it's likely that hackers are going to try to target him and get his money, it is better to avoid to reveal how much coins you are holding to anyone so you avoid trouble in the future.

First the price will not drop below $6k because it has now reached the lowest price of bitcoin, and buying now will be highly recommended because you will not regret and lose money later, especially if you hold it for the long term, it will definitely be worth and benefit

Diversifying of your investment is good  tactics specially while the price is in roller coaster mode, that's a short investment is more profitable, but for long term investment you should think and take advantage on the down trend of the prices  because profitability will be more    if you are patience enough.

No doubt as it is really a good time to buy at a cheaper rate particularly if you intend to hold for a longer period of time since one is not certain about any short period price increase. And if everyone one of us should imbibe buying spirit as compared to sell spirit that will really help the market recovery as quickly as possible in no time, because selling has a negative effect on Bitcoin market value and any other coins.

I think that the price will attract the new investor to join in bitcoin because they see the price is not too high to buy. And I believe that the price can go up to the higher price and back to reach $20k shortly. Besides that, it will not stay for a long time because there will be a time for bitcoin to start recovering from the low price to the higher price. And I agree with you that we still have to be patient this year.

One should have the balanced portfolio as you do not know exactly which coin will give you what returns. So having multiple coins is always the recommended one and it also balances you portfolio which is more important as well. So that you do not place all your eggs under one basket.

In that way we can think of everything being an experiment or at least a work in progress. This is even more so with respect to money as there have been many flavors of it which were tried throughout history. Now we have fiat which is not backed up by anything but a kind word and a gun as Al Capone once put it. But everything being an experiment doesn't really make any difference as we are living today no matter when this experiment is going to end, if ever, and how exactly. So, in a sense, anything we do can be considered experimenting, not just bitcoin alone.

This is the smartest move anyone has ever done that I was part of seeing. I think buying as much as you can "afford" (people keep getting loans and stuff to buy bitcoin, that is stupid, this dude bought bitcoin with half of his stock investments which means he already saved that money aside anyway) bitcoin right now at the dip is an amazing move.

If I had money I would put half of it to bitcoin as well. People who bought bitcoin at $20k levels were buying on the hype when it was ABOVE the all time high prices, whereas this dude has bought it at the lowest it has been for over 10 months now, incredible wise move.

You have really made a good investment decision and buying bitcoin now should be the best thing to do now as an investor. I agree that it's still a great time to buy, the bear market can be change any time now, usually at the end of the year there will be a rising, and even though the btc price go to 4000$, as long as it still got the ability to go up again, I don't see that as a problem

For all those who bought bitcoin during the dip at 5,000$, i know they already have good profit as bitcoin reaches to more than 6,000$ since then. Holding on and buying more during the dip is what we really need in order to have a good profit when bitcoin pumps.

The question here isn't how much you bought, but when did you get in. You haven't really mentioned when you sold off your stocks, but if you can see, stocks are also not left behind when it comes to dumps and they're also crashing except the USD which is gaining a lot of traction in forex markets degrading each of its opponent currencies. The only reason Bitcoin is down is the interest of investors has shifted back to USD and they're not much interested in crypto anymore. Bitcoin is weak and we need to wait in order to see if these investors come back with full force to give back the boost crypto had in previous year. If you've bought during this dip, I believe your decision is 50% wise and 50% stupid, wise because you entered where there's blood on the streets and stupid because you went all in. I have a suggestion here, either sell some % of your current investment or buy in any token (with some BTC) of which the project is worth investing.

Just be careful, because even if I think that you did a good investment by moving from stocks to bitcoin because the profits that you are going to get if you are able to hold for the long term are incredible, so you will need to make sure that your coins are safe, and there is no better way to hold your coins than to have a hardware wallet that you know is going to protect your coins from most attacks coming from hackers.

I think situations of previous year were worse than the ongoing year that is reflecting that we are going well. If we have Bitcoins then the relevant strategy is to hold it as long as you hold it then you a time will come when it will have higher value that time you can sell out your coins. Your investment will payoff the most if you have it right now and if not then you will not find any other opportunity that we have currently.

Well, half investment from stocks to bitcoin is not a bad deal; at least, as that shows you are trying to touch all zones of the market. Now, it is a good thing that the OP understands the market could go lower, and he is still willing to take the chance anyway, but I would have advised him to allow the market to really make a decision before even making such a huge decision.

At least, since he has been in the stock market, he should have some little understanding of how market works, and knowing we are in a descending triangle, and the market breaks lower, we may not be sure yet how low it gets until we get there.

It is really one of the best moves I have seen so far for someone who really knows what he is doing and for sure with some of his experience in the stock market, he is channeling half of that into this space and going for bitcoin most especially, is a brilliant move as far as I am concerned. The thing about investing now is that you are being given a chance to go back in time to take advantage of the fact that you did not invest back then and then you are here now. The markets is still growing and believe me, it is just starting with a whole lot of development, mass adoption and real life usage to come and by then, I am sure the OP would be happy he made this decision.

As i read you think bitcoin will go over 300k$ , but in my opinion it can reach that so soon, i think it can go to that value starting from 2025 not before, and this depends from some factors, how much will electricity will be needed , and how new miners will work then.

During the past dips of bitcoin, i have bought a good chunk on that and i am really glad that i have bought it in such a low price and i am also happily holding it until the bullish trend will come.

Besides the wait might come to end by next year so keep your guard , it will be a big lose if you sell it by now.

You have really made a good investment decision and buying bitcoin now should be the best thing to do now as an investor. The price may not go below were it is now and if you can buy now you will makes profits when it grow again. I believe that bitcoin is going to get to $20000 again by next year.
I really like it when I see people setting their priorities straight and going for what they believe in and for the OP to have made this decision and even put his funds directly into bitcoin, that shows entirely how much he must have done all his research, know what he wants and looking forward to the future.

Really, the best time to always be going in is when the market is in a dip and you are more like given a good chance to be buying at a discount. Who does not like discount, except for someone who does not see a value in what is being given to them. There is a great value here beyond just the price for those who are looking at the long term.

I think you are currently lucky because you can buy bitcoin at a very cheap price so you should be able to grow bitcoin that you have more and take advantage of all the cryptocurrency price movements to find a lot of profits.
Luck has nothing to do with it, buying bitcoin and holding it despite the terrible circumstances surrounding the price is not something that happens at random, it is something that happens because people are completely convinced about what they are doing and only a small fraction of the people holding bitcoin can do that and those are the ones that are going to get great profits.

right, this is the most valuable time now if you want to infest on bitcoin. take advantage of the moment, no need to look at the past that has happened and fall. this mid-year has also been a good start, for currency investors viat to crypto. Good luck

and you also have to remember not to put all your capital as a bitcoin investment, my advice is you also have to prepare properly the conditions that will occur in the future, for example the price drops you can still make ends meet with the remaining capital you have. dividing capital into two is very good to use for investment and for daily needs.
Yes because if you put all of your capital just in bitcoin then it will be difficult when the price is falling like now, where you will panicked and lose your money. There is nothing wrong to i (http://renovasi-rumah.net)nvest in two investments because there’s a time you don't expect you will need an emergency fund and quickly withdraw it into paper money. Use investment as accurately as possible and don't be tempted by a high price so you only focus in one investment.

Right. Well in a a way it probably does, for some people who just went in and gambled last 2017 and got out before the correction. Though that would likely be a very little percentage. But knowing what you're doing and what you're getting into is how you really survive in this market. Luck, more often than not, won't be there when you need it.

Only the investors who opted in start and just forget about it are the only person who are holding still balance if i am not wrong in 2017 when the market went up from 1000 to 3000 usd that time nearby 80% of them sold it as no one expected the price to go $20k. Everyone traded and who are the investors who started in last quarter of 2017 are the only person who got stuck as they have not sold on profit on greed.

Yes, like in anything there is a small portion of participants in the market that got lucky and made money thanks to their luck, but those people are an exception, most people that became successful in this market or in any other market or activity did it because they had the right tools to do it, they had the right knowledge, the skills and the mentality necessary to become successful.

Stick it on a Trezor and walk away for a couple of years
;D a very good way to just discard all the noises of the market in the short term and just focus on the bigger future and the important things to come. I believe this market is just starting with growth and we have not seen anything yet, and it would take those who really understand the benefit that this space brings in the long run, that would understand that with all things being equal, adoption is lurking around the corner, one way or the other, and for those who already picked the market at a stage like this, it would just make it a whole lot interesting for them in the long run.

well, I'm not too much when holding bitcoin. I always hold bitcoin under 1 bitcoin for a long period of time, whereas when I have more than 1 bitcoin, maybe I'll sell it in the near future. well, sometimes there are so many things that need to be bought.
It's probably a good idea to try to hold as much bitcoin as possible from now on because it's very likely that in the next years or the next decade the price of bitcoin is going to go up so rapidly that just by having a small amount of it you could make your life a lot easier.

Yes, you are right people should hold the bitcoin in order to make some decent money and the same thing we have to obey the fluctuation with the bitcoin price. In short term, you won't make much profit because bitcoin is long-term investment.

Thats right, successfully buying at a cheap price and choosing to hold it up to ATH is not a lucky thing because the choice to holding with all obstacles is not an easy thing and not is achieved only by luck, so you must patience like him, buy now and hold it for few years

for now I am not fully investing with my full cryptocurrency only partially because I have a reason in my country cryptocurrencies have not been fully inaugurated by the government as a valid currency even prohibited from direct transactions

Yeah, they can expect to make the huge profit from selling their bitcoin when the price is rise later. I think we can make a lot of money when we can hold as much bitcoin as we can especially if we can buy bitcoin at the lowest price. But it's not easy to hold bitcoin because the price is always up and down and some of us still worry if the price is down too deep.

Buying and holding bitcoin depends upon your investment. If you have more money you will buy more and with less money you will buy less. It is simple. There is no problem in it. The problem is holding for long time and earning profit against your coins. If you earn lot of money, you will be happy and will invest more money in bitcoin and your holding will increase.

Yeah you are right but buying more and more bitcoin needs lot of money and it is possible only when you trust bitcoin and its future. You should realize that bitcoin is not only a currency business but also a worldwide usable coin. When you believe it, you will put more and more money in it and the more you invest the more you earn and be patient also.

If you have some good research to make good decisions in taking investment then it doesn't matter if you dare to put all your capital into one investment but you must be prepared also with the risk that you will bear when the price decreasing because the price is still very unstable. But if the price increased I think you would get a very good profits for yourself. (http://renovasi-rumah.net)
