I think Block Chain is empowering more and more these days,the number crypto enthusiasts is increaing day by day.More project are emerging daily,and all these ideas brought me up to decision whether Block  Chain is going to be the next internet?how many of you agree with these?

I don't believe it will ever be as critical as the creation of the internet TBH (just simply because everything ties back to the creation of the internet, including blockchain technologies), but I do believe it will be within a short list of greatest inventions/concepts within the modern world.

I think we're only going to see more and more applications for the use of blockchains, and further advancement/investment in implementing the blockchain in more and more ways.

I do have to say when I see al the news I have the feeling big movements are around the corner but in my daily life I'm not experiencing it so far.

I think the snowball will appear very soon and could be very big.

After the hype of Bitcoin, it's only natural that hype will leave. The massive increase of the price of BTC only would have resulted in hype, which naturally would have faded.

However, while the price of Bitcoin has dropped since, I don't believe it will drop drastically further, as IMO the hype has created an industry of advancement within Blockchain technology (more companies/startups are being created to developer Bitcoin and technologies like it due to the initial hype)

bitcoin for me is more than the internet, there is so much room for improvement and technology underlying the bitcoin that has not been discovered yet its full potential,.

Next internet? next big thing where each company needs? well that's possible and most of them has to apply it with their businesses. Its getting a lot of attention but still there's only few companies that are appreciating it.

the rise was not "all hype" it was real adoption and the increasing demand for the decentralized currency that led to the rise in first place and then obviously a rise means profit and profit means greedy people will also look towards bitcoin and the result of that is the hype and the bubble which will be over with a bubble burst and a price drop eventually and that is what we have now.
and that is why the price won't drop any further because of the real demand is still there and the speculative demand that came in because of the hype is now gone.
although in my opinion one of the biggest reasons for no further drop is the fact that bitcoin has dropped more than it should have and now it is underpriced and oversold...

I know it wasn't all hype, but I do believe that the price increase was largely created due to hype.
As I mentioned, I do believe adoption will carry bitcoin forward. Initial hype in technologies is always a thing, it's how the project sustains that interest which is most important.

As Bitcoin itself was one of the primary adopters of Blockchain technology, I believe that Bitcoin will be existent for many years to come, if not indefinitely.

However, as for price, it's anyone's guess. I'm not in the position to speculate the price of Bitcoin 1 year, 5 years or 10 years to come. I believe in the technology, and as such I hold Bitcoin knowing it is a rather risky but worthy holding.

Bitcoin is one of the most important and well-known coin adoptions, so it is able to make an invention that is very influential in the world of the internet even wider and makes a greater advantage. Bitcoin is one blockchain that can explode with its advantages.

You totally messed it up, how can it be the next Internet? empowering who? They are totally different, imho. And as far as I know, its just a ledger to records all the data so how's that comparable to the internet thingy?

The blockchain technology is one of the greatest inventsions ever made. Some people said that this invention will revolutionize the business sectors and help improve its accuracy when it comes to data management and also prevents from fraud due to the visibility of information to the public.

This might not be deemed as a very important invention nowadays but as we are moving forward to the digital future, we slowly consider the mere fact that this invention is one of the greatest innovation next to internet.

Let's hope that he was simply comparing the blockchain with the internet as in great invention and not that it would really replace it...although I have some doubts with all this blockchain hype.

And yeah, blockchain is a database, nothing more, it needs internet (in most cases) it can't become the internet, it can't become a way of communicating, as its basic existence needs one.

Wel there is really a possibility. Not just a possibility but a huge possibility. In which we can see how people get attached to the blockchain today. We can conclude that there is really a chance. If the continuous grow of the number of users, this will really going to happen, no doubt.

Suffice to say it's the next big thing on the Internet. Blockchain technology is a marvelous creation. It makes ease of doing business, records and of course our lives. Internet probably is the greatest invention in technology. Blockchain needs Internet before you can utilize its use.

I wouldn't call it one of the greatest though, as somewhat have said, its just a ledger, and database has been with us since the early years of PC. Although it has great advantage like data is "immutable", hard to tampered with, etc..


In terms of changing the lives of people, this invention doesn't bring that much impact as Internet does. On the contrary, it only adds value for major companies to fully reduced its dependencies so much on people, i.e CEO just can pull the data anytime he/she wanted without calling the secretary on the other room. Provides efficiency and it can help make business decisions very quickly because all the data is transparent.

I don't think that the blockchain would be that important in the future society, though I must admit that there'd be a lot of potential applications for the said technology. It would be important but not to the point wherein it can be compared to the internet's importance in today's society. The blockchain could be applied on a lot of services but it can't function as a standalone app in which the laymen could utilize just like the internet. As of now, it's just restricted to being a ledger albeit some other coin developers embedding some more fancy features on the said tech.

We can't compare blockchain with the internet, I know both are computer technologies but are two totally different things. Is just like asking, will HSBC become the next library or the next city?

In terms of popularity, blockchain can't be better than the internet, because you need internet to use blockchain, but you don't need blockchain to use the internet.

But in terms of new technology, maybe it could be, at the end blockchain and internet are two of the biggest inventions in computer science.

Blockchain is the latest discovery that the majority of the institutions around the world will have to tap into for the purpose of ease. Banking and finance, commerce, power, agriculture, health, government etc are few examples. Internet did same thing and it became popular because virtually all activities take place on the Internet nowadays. I think blockchain will be as popular as the Internet with time.

Yes. Its where its going, the web 3.0 as they say. There are blockchain companies building all these including the ones we have invested like the Storj that can be compared to the dropbox. Its coming of the new trend and sometimes we are already in it but we miss to recognize like the EOS and the Experty which some of use haven't heard it yet while the price are yet affordable for investors.

Blockchain technology is part of the internet so it's not the future of the internet. Because the internet has a big data and smart space, while the blockchain is a small space that is mutually remembered and mutually confirmed. This method makes the internet in the future healthy because all nodes must be confirmed through the blockchain system. I have to agree. No matter how popular blockchain is getting these days, I do not think that it is enough to replace the internet someday. Blockchain has a long way to go and many business industries will benefit from it but in terms of common people using it the way we use internet nowadays, am not sure if it is ever possible.

Blockchain cannot be the next Internet from the way I see it because for one, it needs the internet to function. However, with development that could happen just like the case of mobile banking that could be done with USSD without the need for internet connection. If this can be done for blockchain then we are ready to see something greater than the internet as it would mean virtually everything that thrives in secrecy would come to an end and that is the beginning of good times.

Blockchain and the Internet, both have a similar model of technology i.e., peer to peer networking. This has enabled people to interact with each other and this has lead to the large adoption of the Internet.
Blockchain is new in the market enabling users to make peer to peer transactions. This will surely create a mass adoption according to me and many others but it will take a while until that happens.

blockchain is based on the financial system. so I'm not sure it's next internet. but some projects with incoming tokens on the seach engine platform. I believe the Blockchain is a big book about future records that are not erased.

I don't understand how did you compare each of them? Both are different things. Without the internet, I can't think of Blockchain. The internet is a much bigger concept and will remain the same when development occurs. So, there is no concept of the upper model of the internet, only those who exist in it can develop.

Blockchain is now gaining popularity more people are coming in.... The more people are interacting with the system the high it traffic become so I think it possible for blockchain to be the next internet.

When the Internet was discovered, it attracted everybody because it is revolutionary and saving people time, money and headache. Till date, there is no alternative to the Internet. So many other discoveries rely on the Internet to function effectively. Blockchain is excellent but people can still do with other alternatives.

Definitely, blockchain right now is being run by the internet and I think, blockchain will not become the next internet because of its different function. For me it is already okay. Why not use both for a better purpose. Besides, it is already happening. Internet as a means of knowledge while bitcoin inside the internet as means of payment to get deeper knowledge and other transactions using it.

Sorry to disappoint you, but whatever you said doesn't make sense at all. Internet is a way different thing than Blockchain, even Blockchain can't operate without internet. To go further the Blockchain is designed as a database to keep records as blocks.

Internet is way too broad than Blockchain, at least if you see it from today's perspective. There can be many things done on internet that can't be done on Blockchain, a simple example is this forum, its completely based on the concept of internet, and thus to visit and use this forum you don't need to be on Blockchain.

If your way of thinking was to compare Blockchain as an evolutionary invention as internet than you are absolutely right. Blockchain is as important for crypto users as internet for the world wide web users. All of the Transactions that take place, or all of the blocks made, are stored in Blockchain.

It is more than just internet, blockchain is associating internet and data transactions service and it is now commonly used in financial services such as banks. Actually it can be used for any non financial industry to record all data into a system without needing a central server. In fact, there are money industry or other instances don't see or probably not ready yet to apply this technology. Blockchain aims to be a solution for future in any sectors that will make works more efficient, simpler and transparent.
So, it is more than just internet service as what already recognize about internet now.   

There is a huge difference between the current Internet system and the Blockchain technology. A complete opposite, the old Internet system operates under the Client-Server model where all data is focused on a certain host system, completely reverse the Blockchain technology it operates on the system. I think the blockchain and bitcoin have the potential to be even bigger, it is true that the internet is almost everywhere but when we take into account that you need money for almost anything to happen in the world then the ceiling for bitcoin is a lot higher than the ceiling of the Internet which is nothing more but a way to transmit information over long distances over a network, and while some may argue that bitcoin is the same and that is running over the internet, the fact that bitcoin is a form of money changes everything.

Comparison of the blockchain with the Internet, by their importance to society is quite acceptable. The blockchain will be able to change even more processes in the lives of people.

Definitely yes, But blockchain is not going to be internet's future. There are projects like Holochain than can be better than blockchain. in my opinion, blockchain starts a revolution that other projects change the world.

Projects are becoming more useful that will survive overtime. There is Ethlance and there is also Hirevibes for freelancers soon the blockchain will be used by people even for those who  knows nothing about it but the token on its own. Internet came up with the idea of faster communication with the help of connection between two or more physical points but still, it is a part of centralised philosophy so those who were in a position to dominate the real world are also dominating internet in some way. However, blockchain is entirely different from the centralised structure and it truly defines the fundamental core values of democracy.

After attending Devcon4 and seeing talks on this subject in more detail I can see blockchain tech having a huge impact on what ever becomes the new internet!

Internet and Block chain are the two sides of one coin,which simply means that they go together so how can block chain become an internet when they both work together.And the other main factor is that the internet is not just about block chain there are so many things are also there in internet and as well as the block chain is not just a block chain is more than what we think about it.

I believe that the intention is that, and if we continue at this pace of process, in a few years we could be dreaming of a decentralized internet. Which will be really where there will be a free internet.

I do not know for sure and will be done by certain people who do not know their faces and make the block must be very difficult compared to what is usually made.

I think that is quiet possible. But for this to happen, i guess the blockchain needs more maturity and by that i mean more people trusting it and knowing what it is actually. I simply don't now if Block Chain is going to be the next internet. I will explain why. Internet is consisting of so much more than block chain alone. And block chain simply isn't the solution to everything. I think Block chain is absolutely making things on the internet more transparant. But you simply don't want everything to completely transparant. I can think of a thousand things I want to keep for myself.

So, blockchain will be a succes. But mainly in industries where transactions are a huge part of daily business. But it isn't internet. It's just one aspect of it.

I think this is impossible, as we know during its existence, blockchain technology only serves as the fastest registrar and is suitable for recording a variety of data meaning not only for virtual currencies, it can also be widely used to advance business, and every company can take advantage smart-contract with blockchain technology especially for export and import purposes. For the internet itself, it seems that the existence of this technology is more suitable to be implemented as a companion only, namely for the sake of recording the course of internet traffic.

I don't think so, because the internet is the parent of all activities that occur online, while the blockchain is a decentralized work system that is the brain of bitcoin. So both revolutionized the communication system in life that was too monopolized by the government. Now people can transact directly to the world in minutes, without involving banks and the government.

I think both are different in nature and purpose. The Internet is being used all over the world whereas blockchain technology only being used in some organization especially in cryptocurrency. Block chain technology is increasing with time and it is the internet which makes it possible that blockchain is using in the world and it is a very strong network through which all crypto are running smooth 'and blockchain is the best solution for online users and they can do a lot of their businesses in these days and for me it is very worth and i am fully dependent on crypto and it is the future of my family i have motivated relatives for investment and they have invested good amount in bitcoin and crypto coins.

Just like the internet many years ago, people say that it is scam, lol. And today many people are having their regret for not investing in e-commerce companies like Amazon for example. This is currently happening with blockchain, the huge gain in the popularity of cryptocurrency resulted to the expansion of the cryptocurrency market and increase in the price of top cryptocurrencies. The thing is, besides cryptocurrencies, there are more things that blockchain can provide in different types of economy. The future is big for blockchain.

I read a couple of years of an article about this, where I had the same thoughts, that Block Chain is a new Internet.
