Title: what are the things to consider when looking for a good exchange?
Post by: Insufficient on November 04, 2018, 05:36:06 PM
I am a trader or at least that is how i see myself. I trade on binance, okex, idex, mercatox, bittrex, houbi and some other exchange. Lately i notice a lot of new crypto exchange popping here and there. And as much as i know and safe guard my password and secure my account with 2fa, I am still curious of the factors other traders consider when they are signing up on a new exchange. Would love to know some of your key factors so i might look into those too.

Personally I look at
1. Security : The most important of all since we are dealing with money. Security has to be tight and exchange has to have a swift response in case of any attacks or attempts to hack

2. Popularity: Much more popular exchanges are my preference since they have a large community around them. The larger the community, the easier it is to spot scam... Less popular exchanges can easily scam and exit with your money.

3. Team and Support: is the team transparent? Is the support swift and helpful? You don't wanna get stuck with some issue and there is no one to help you urgently

4: Trading Fees and Withdrawal Charges: I prefer exchange with less trading fees and withdraw charges plus incentives like Binance has with BNB and Kucoin has with Kucoin shares.

5: Third-party Mobile apps: These make trading easier on the go. Some exchanges have lagging websites but the mobile apps are smooth to trade with. i have traded so far with the Kucoin, Huobi, Binance and Okex apps. Very smooth and nice experience

Thank you so much for sharing. It really can be a bit overwhelming sometimes to keep signing up to new exchanges. I will definitely consider all your tips and recommendation. So elaborate and clear. thank you for taking the time to answer me. There are obvious pointers but often times with my busy life and chart watching i tendcto forget about some of those. Truly appreciate you.

As a crypto software developer, I look at everything from the user perspective.

1. The user needs to be in complete control of funds. Once the coins are on the exchange, it's too late to try to secure them.

2. The user needs a frictionless  transaction experience. People are tired of multi-step verification.

3. The user needs a way to share in the profits. There are enough fees being generated to spread the revenue fairly.

Basically you are pointing to those numbers of new exchanges that popped out somewhere.

I will just consider using them once my token got listed there and will wait first for feedbacks by other users on that token group. And after hearing a bit of "good" feedbacks I will personally test the waters and the rest will be history. But take note that we must used our common sense to see that a new exchange is a sh*t or not.

2. Popularity: Much more popular exchanges are my preference since they have a large community around them. The larger the community, the easier it is to spot scam... Less popular exchanges can easily scam and exit with your money.

Since it's new, most of them are not popular yet. Up to others if they will wait for it to become "popular".

5: Third-party Mobile apps: These make trading easier on the go. Some exchanges have lagging websites but the mobile apps are smooth to trade with. i have traded so far with the Kucoin, Huobi, Binance and Okex apps. Very smooth and nice experience

Since again, they are new. Implementation of their mobile app version is not present during their first phase in most of the cases.

what I searched first for the new exchange on Google or another big forum was how much the problem arose from the exchange platform, if many forums and other articles stated that I would leave it scam. but if they only discuss technical issues in the exchange I will consider it.

Good pointers! Really helpful. Not every exchange offers "share" in the profits. I wish every exchange would be required to do so in the future. Appreciate you and your time for sharing, Thank you

Daily trading volume: maybe It’s the key to the trade-off between those platforms. You can use some sites like https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/ (https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/)

Technical support as I can not access the private keys for those currencies. Slow technical support is a negative indicator for choosing the platform.

Evaluation of the platform and related problems: Whenever there are a lot of unresolved problems related to the platform whenever avoided.
The rest of the things can be ignored.

I don't pay attention to the new exchanges unless there's a coin that I hold and its listed to that new exchange. But that's not all, I'll check if the volume there is quite good but if its totally zero, why would I'll waste my time trading there?

The security shall always go number one concern but don't trust it completely to the exchange. Be a responsible trader not only with your trades but together along the way you keep your records. We are also the one that must be liable and vigilant to it though the number one concern should really go first. But considering what's good now is easy, if you'll just echo with the crowd.

here everything is quite simple. Every self-respecting trader is looking for an exchange with a minimum withdrawal percentage, because all profit is considered as a percentage. That's the first thing to look at. The second thing I would like to draw attention to is the stability of the exchange. Not pleasant, when the exchange is often spent on technical work. This is very inconvenient and often leads to partial loss of funds. Third, you should look at the trading volume of a coin. This will allow you to quickly sell the coin in case of negative news or urgent need for money. There are still a lot of criteria for the selection of exchanges, but they are mostly individual. I hope you've already figured it out and are happy to share it with others)

Firstly, note that it is not advisable to leave your cryptocurrency on any exchanges for long regardless of the perceived level of security. They may be hacked. What I do mainly is to check the review of the exchange from users. I get a lot of feedbacks doing this. All I need to know about security, customer care etc will be revealed.

I also sign up for a new exchange when my coin is only listed there but almost every exchange require personal info and i must admit there are times when i would just deposit my coin and opt not to trade that very same day simply because i dont think the price is not reasonable yet. Thank you for sharing your insights. I always appreciate people taking their time to help. Cheers!

Since you have already got all those exchanges why still looking for me? And by the way you’re trading on too much exchanges, if I were you, two or three is enough cause there is no need to be trading a lot of exchanges. Just choose the one that suits you better and works for you, the one you’re very sure is reliable. If you’re trading with many you will be confusing yourself. And if you keep on jumping from one exchange to the other you might end up on an exchange that will turn out later to be scam and lose your money.

Yes you’re right, it’s not good to pay attention to all as long as you’ve got the tested and trusted ones. The only time one can choose to go for another exchange is when they are holding and they find out that it is listed on a new site which they would like to trade. And before you go for that new exchange, it’s best to make a lot of research about them and even read reviews online about them before considering it as an option.

Good exchanges are always popular and most secure. I consider which exchange is better, exchange has more security systems, otp systems, Kyc security systems, popular, volume and market position etc.

The reputation and security are important issues to consider when choosing the exchange. For traders, the number of supported cryptocurrencies, payment methods, and liquidity also play a significant role. For me, margin trading offered by CEX (https://cex.io/margin-trading) is a critical issue. I know there are not many exchanges that provide this service today.

I can't be said to be a great trader because I only do it occasionally. Even so there are several factors that I have always noticed before choosing an exchange to trade and the main factor is the volume of trading on the exchange. If the exchange has a large trading volume, I think there are many people who believe in the exchange so that they can provide a plus for newcomers, and the second is security.

security services for me are the main thing because this is the key so that my crypto assets are safe and if it's safe, I won't worry about trading. The exchange must have a maximum level of security, attractive sales volume and also provide complaints available 24 hours.

Reputation and security are always on top of the list of what to check out for when you’re choosing an exchange. Any exchange with no good reputation (or should I say without much good reputation) shouldn’t be considered. Why going for exchanges with reputation is because you will be rest assured that they are safe. Cryptocurrency market is not a place to mess around cause there are lots of scammers, any single mistake and you will be in their trap.

There are a lot of things that you can consider but reputation is one thing that matters a lot. So you should always talk about those exchanges with good reputation and after that you can then choose which one of them is suitable for you based location, security and a lot of other things.

Team support is also another good thing, there are good sites with poor team support and when you encounter problem in using their site, it’s always difficult to get through to their support.

A successful exchange having a lot of unique features firstly it has a lots of popularity, security, team and management, withdraw and deposit fees rate, centralization.

There are several security features one needs to consider..of which involves if the exchange supports  2fa extra security features which will help keep your tokens safe. You need to also check trade volume of the exchange

The main thing I consider in choosing an exchange is the crowd, the completeness of the coins listed, and the lightweight website with a simple look. With an exchange that has a high level of volume, then at least I have been convinced if the exchange has good security and support, so just how do we use it and secure our own security, if all works well then at least that is enough for us to feel comfortable and safe to use it.

I lost bitcoins and investments on GLBSE (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/GLBSE (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/GLBSE)) when it closed.

Then I had my own exchange, BTC Trading Corp, which was forced to close due to regulation. (Though I kept it online long enough to process withdrawals and generate tax reports!)

Then I lost a whole bunch of LTC when BTC-e (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTC-e (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTC-e)) was forced to close due to failing AML regulation.

So now when I look for an exchange I try to figure out:

  • Is it secure?  Do they have per-trade 2FA and experienced developers and system administrators?
  • Is it in a jurisdiction with good legal structure?  If they run with my money - are the local police even going to care?
  • Is it legal?  Do they follow the laws of not just their own country, but also all countries around the world that might seize them?  This applies to AML, KYC, Securities, etc.
  • Is it transparent?  Can I easily find out who they are and where they are located?  (important if I have a legal dispute with them)
  • Is it properly registered?  Can I easily look up their business registration and licenses on the internet?
  • Do they have low trade fees without me having to hold one of their special tokens?  I don't care if they profit share or any of that gibberish - just give me a low trade fee in the first place!
Profit sharing will never give me as much back as I give in over-priced trade fees - that is WHY they do it!
  • In their jurisdiction do they have a fiduciary duty to protect me?  This means - do they legally have to put me first?  Or can they put themselves first?  This is important if something happens and they lose your money or if a hacker takes your money using flaws in their exchange.

I've been around in the cryptocurrency space since 2012 and I've seen a lot of bad things happen to good people.  I hope that helps!

Cheers

Simply every trade look for its fee structure over any other features on that exchange because it helps them to make more money and then the security of the wallets and customer support quality from them will also takes place in picking the exchange.Maybe number of trading pairs on the exchange will attract some traders.

OP everyone has it's own customers, that's the reason why they exist and have impact on bitcoin's price. To be fair it doesn't matter how others choose exchangers, btw common that everyone has to consider is safety, good support and fast transactions. Other factors have to satisfy you and exchanger's functions have to suit your requirements.

In addition to these exchanges I use HitBTC, GBX and QUOINE, sometimes yobit whenever there is a currency that is not available on any other exchange. Points to consider an exchange for trading is
1. Customer support response
2. Availability of more crypto pairs
3. Fee needed for each transaction
4. Time to process trade request

Correct, each one of us do have our own preference on using up an exchange and some of us do make use of multi-exchange depending
on our needs but as said we do have our common reasons on choosing up which one and I agree on the things you do have mentioned about
those factors that most people do seek of.

I’ve experienced that before, a good exchange but you will find it difficult in reaching out to their customer support because they never get to reply. Best thing to do is to abandon them and look for another exchange. Some of them do have a responsive support, but they are never able to solve your problem.

Consider the history of the exchange and the transparency of its founders. They must be visibly active in social media, and it must be genuine appearances. In this way, you can judge how secured your funds in them or at least how reliable they are for you to entrust your funds with them. This will prevent you from being scammed and from turning your hard-earned money into real bubble.

There are lots of things to consider when choosing an exchange, best would be to consider everything. I wouldn’t like an exchange with a bad support. I have seen some good exchanges but what usually ruins everything is their bad support, they are never there to help you when you have problems and that’s really bad. Any exchange with bad support is not worth choosing.

This is a very thoughtful and reasonable post. I would add to it the security around withdrawal. Anytime an exchange can immediately act on your w/d request that means your private keys are sitting right there on the web. There are better ways to handle withdrawals but it does make the process slightly slower and a bit more cumbersome. I'll take that ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over the knee knocking fear that someone is going to hack an exchange. Which happens all the frickin-fracking time!
I lost bitcoins and investments on GLBSE (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/GLBSE (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/GLBSE)) when it closed.

Necessity of good and active support is mandatory for every business and you cannot be sure when you will be needing an active support from your exchange. I have been into crypto space for more than five years and in this five years I have rarely contacted support of my exchanges like just 2 to 3 times only. I mean to say when you are with a very good exchange then you will rarely need to contact their support. Also, it does not mean you do not need to measure an exchange in terms of their customer support activity.

Each and every aspects should be up to our satisfactory level so that we can conclude an exchange as a good exchange. But we cannot be sure that a good exchange will remain good for all the times. At the same time we cannot go for analysis each time before we start a new trade.

Staying well aware of this community opinion is the only solution in front of us to deal with a good exchange continuously.

Activating your 2FA with enhance the security features on your account. It's the best way to secure your account to the higher security level because those scammers will find hard to crack your account. Although it's not a full proof but at-least the security level is higher enough. Google authenticator is also a good features.

To choose a good exchange I usually always pay attention to trading volumes and security, but sometimes customer support also greatly affects the interest of traders for exchanges.

There are some many factors I consider while choosing a cryptocurrency exchange, factors such as : the platform interface, how smooth and fast it is.
The withdrawal and trading fees.
The support system: I look out to find out how professional the support team are, their attitude to solving issues and how passionate they are in doing that.
I look out for how fast their withdrawal system is etc.

It is necessary to take a lot of factors, for example, the number of available pairs, rate, reviews, support. It is very important for me that the service is without registration, in order not to keep my funds in the account. In addition, since the rate may change during the exchange, I prefer to use services with a fixed rate. Now I use Changenow, this service meets all the requirements.

As a rep of an exchanger, I can highlight the following points, which should be noted first:
1 reliability - first, read customer reviews about the exchanger
2 non-custodial - as they say, not your keys - not your coins. You should avoid exchangers that store all your funds at itself
3 speed, obviously
4 wide range of available pairs - you never know whose price is going to hit the sky in the next moment. But it is better to be able to have all of them available
5  support - with the exchanger with good flow you won't need to ask support, but if, for some reason, you have to, it should help you like a charm.
6 anonymity - last, but nor least, they have to give you the right to stay anonymous and keep your personal data to yourself.
By the way, Godex.io meets all of these requirements. You're welcome to try!

For me, one of the first factors is the time this stock exchange works.
then there is the volume of trade, and it is necessary that it be real
see which coins are being traded and in which pairs
I try not to have KYC

All true, but you didn't mention the most vital one. Your list won't be complete if you don't make mention of 'an effective customers support unit'.
An exchange may have all that you listed but without a good customer support, it's nothing. There is nothing satisfying as a getting a quick fix to your problem. I noticed it with xch4nge exchange when I wanted to fix an error in my account name.  Though,  I'm still on a quest on utilizing it to know more of it awesome features.

Indeed, fast support response/activeness is the one of the most crucial thing should really have on an exchange because once people didnt get immediate response or actions with their problems they would really
tend to find another exchange that would really give out that lacking. Lots of factors should be considered because once you pull it off then expect that users would tend to use your exchange because of that.

Trust, number of users and security are critical issues to think about while picking the trade. For dealers, the quantity of upheld digital forms of money, installment techniques, and liquidity additionally assume a huge job.

In the event that the trade has a huge exchanging volume, I think there are numerous individuals who put stock in the trade so they can give an or more to newcomers, and the second is security likewise will be in the clients concern.

The best thing you can do is have a Bitfinex account, why? Very easy, in that Exchange you can place your Stop Loss and Take Profit at the same time, not only will you rest and you can build your position but you can easily stop being stuck on your PC looking at the graphics ... I recommend you read Livermore, Wyckoff , they are great speculators, I do not have enough money to enter Bitfinex Exchange, because they demand 10k, but I recommend that Exchange for the tranquility that it can give you, you will take away many hours of stress, besides the authors that I gave you, it is because it helped me much to stop my losses in trading.

I followed part of the exchange and used a different password with another exchange,
and use 2FA and synchronize with email,
many cases in some exchanges have lost their assets, but the problem is that the market really has not received legality from the law and the whereabouts of the office are unknown.
so early vigilance is necessary
before you lose a coin asset.

Guadriga incident was not a scam but an accident in my view as its CEO died unexpectedly when he was on tour. I believe no one could prevent quadriga kind of scenarios even how effectively you will be choosing your exchange. Because, we cannot foresee the future hence the best practice with respect to quadriga must be, not keeping big money online. Yes, it is applicable for both web wallets and exchanges.

I do choose exchanges after reading comments from this community. When more people suggest not to touch then I will stay away from those services. I suggest everyone to make use of this forum as it will be more powerful and the tips and suggestion from this community will be most latest one to trust and to follow.

For me it's very important that they run legitimate and transparent business and obey all regulations amd laws. Because in case that something goes wrong and law enforcement investigate them and find irregularities they will also seize all funds and you will lose yours. Exchange has to be trustworthy and you have to know who stands behind it.
Then it's also important the good and quality customer support and volume of trading.
I.think that today it's rather easy to check the background of any exchange and it's very important to do that in order to prevent that you lose your funds and get in sone aquard situation.

Would love to know some of your key factors so i might look into those too.
Mostly I will simply start with the exchange which are being subscribed by the devs of one token or coin. I mean I will look into their ANN topic or their web site for the list of exchanges where I am able to trade their coin or token. Then I will register and then move my tokens and then I will convert into bitcoins or ethereum and finally I may forget that exchange until coinmarketcap kind of summary services notifying the same exchange for another coin selling purposes.

I am not an active trader hence I am not taking much time to analyze and to choose exchanges. Always for first trade with a new exchange, I will risk small amount only. This is only my precautious approach for a new exchange.

I always go for a well secured and popular exchange, of course there are notable ones in the system, a secured exchange will never be prone to hackers eg the recent hacking of crytopia of which investors funds are at stake, to cap it all an exchange. that will not comprise its security is surely my bet.

This is very useful, I used to have this problem.

I advise you to keep large amounts of money in your wallet, not on the platform, even if you are a daily trader.

Also, if you are trading a rare currency, think twice if the platform you find is trustworthy. Exclusivity for a coin is hard to pay. There were cases when the platforms were closed.

The more people use it, the more safer it is. I consider the populariity first then checking that out. After i saw how it works, i look for the next popular exchange to see if it is more convinient or it has more features that can help me with my transactions. Just be careful on putting your reaources on the internet. Making accounts to different websites or exchanges can be subject to hacking.

If you mean exchanges, then yes, there are new ones that offer favorable conditions. I stopped using registration services because they often block accounts. There are many accusations against Bittrex and even Binance, so exchangers without registration are more secure. You can check ChangeNOW, they offer a fixed rate with lots of coins. This is what I use now. You can also pay attention to the Coinswitch.

First thing I always put into consideration is popularity. I go for exchanges that are popular, and after listing them out I will then talk about security. I don’t really like going for new exchanges, that’s a huge risk for anyone to take, cause these new exchanges are mostly scammers and you can lose your money if you open account with them. Some of them end up getting hacked due to lack of experience.

There are many accusations against Bittrex and even Binance, so exchangers without registration are more secure.
Lol, Binance is one of the best cryptocurrency exchanges we have today. If you’re going to be choosing new exchanges over these old ones that has already built a good reputation for themselves, then you will be making a very big mistake. Yes there are people who do complain about Binance that it is scam, but trust me, it is not. No matter how good an exchange is, you will always see people who will complain about it.

It depends on the coins you have with you to trade as well. Or you wish to have exchanges to trade, go with exchanges cost you less transaction fees, choose the exchange where the coins you have chosen to trade is more traded with huge volumes. Few exchanges offer their own currencies for wavering transaction fees. So, Focus on exchanges which would reduce your expenses.

Yes. As we have too many exchanges now, choose the ones which do cost little transaction fees. Check out their services and the volume coins are traded at. Have coins earned from bounties in new exchanges. The trading volume of the coin is zero now. So it depends on the coins as well. So choose the best coins and best exchanges based on the expense.

But not for 0.001 btc for the transaction fee because I remember that in Poloniex and Bittrex, they applied those amount for the fee but fortunately, now they lower the transaction fee. I don't mind to pay for 0.0005-0.001 btc for the fee. I don't want to see the exchange got so many problems especially for the processing of withdrawal. Besides that, I don't want to wait for a long time to see the bitcoin arrives in my sellers' wallet.

The security will be the most important to choose the good exchange, and they need to have a high level of security, and they are often to check the website to find a bug or hole so they can fix the problem as soon as they can.

Fees are considered for me as a minor thing on the exchange, that is normal to have fees either that is small fees you can still have to pay the fees. The major part that I looking for usually those reputed ones and fewer complaint regarding withdrawal. Due to a lot of crypto exchanges existed today, it is better to have a background check with the team behind and also their feedback to see if this really can be trusted or just a full of scam. We don't want to loss our funds and we should have to spend time doing this.

And for those unpopular exchange, as much as possible get rid of them and don't waste your time trying them out. The first and foremost thing is the volume and the crowd traded in. Then look at the transaction fees charged. Then choose the best coins and see if the coin is traded in this exchange. Look at the pairs they have. The volume, marketcap, coins you have chosen decides an exchange to be the best or not.

If they do have such volume then expect they would really have that common trading pairs like BTC/USD, ETH/BTC and so on.Just a normal thing to think off
that crowded exchange do have those particular things yet they wont able to achieve such volume if these pairs aren't available that's why even just seeing that one
thing on an exchange this is already a big factor for you to consider that this is a good one.

Oh nice that you trade on differenr exchnages site, that's good strategy and even me I trade in different exchanges site for my safety. Most of the exvhanges site that you gave to us is really safe and not having any problems with maybe other but I think it's minor.

Yeah you're right, and these too:
- METHOD OF PURCHASE
- TRADING PLATFORM, P2P EXCHANGE OR BROKER.
- SUPPORTED TOKENS among others.... 😉

Its never been safe to store up your coins on exchangers even on the most reputable exchange as of this moment. As long you don't
posses the keys of wallet then those coins aren't actually yours and tendency to loss it is just really lurking behind yet we wont even know on where
exchange hacks do really happen that's why don't store up all of your assets in one place.

This is totally well said as we are looking for a good exchange platform, I just want to add mine to here. I like to trade in exchange if the UI is good for the eyes and easy to understand and the last one is, of course, having a massive volume of traders. In that way, we can easily and quickly buy and sell. Reputations of exchange sites majority of the people were looking for.

We have different opinions or perspective on when we consider a good exchange well in my case here are the things I consider as a good exchange:

• A secure exchange where in they offer a 2FA Google Authenticator or SMS Authenticator
• Active support where they will able to help you at no time
• Exchange wherein the only listed coins are qualified and meet a certain requirements and not just by paying the exchange to list their coin
• Active social accounts, press, etc.
• Volume of the market
• Exchange fees
• Withdrawal fees/Minimum Withdrawal fees

So far here are the things I consider in looking for a good exchange.

As a cryptocurrency user, in terms of choosing an exchange of course we have never separated from some of what we want, for example convenience, security, quality, liquidity and low fees imposed on users. Besides that, the available coin pairs are also supporting factors which can be considered very important, and this thing can give customers many choices for the coins they will buy. So, that's some important points which I think are worthy of being taken into consideration in choosing a good exchange.

I think something like security should not even be a comparison because security is NON-NEGOTIABLE. You must have it, which is why I am never comfortable with having no private keys. However strong the exchange says their security is,,, they always fail eventually either through carelessness or technological inferiority when hackers strike.

What distinguishes exchanges are convenience, friendliness and support efficiency.

The first and foremost thing is the volume and the crowd traded in. Then look at the transaction fees charged. Then choose the best coins and see if the coin is traded in this exchange. Look at the pairs they have. The volume, marketcap, coins you have chosen decides an exchange to be the best or not.

Well, you don't need to look for anything. Just make an account on Binance and start the trading.  ;)
Binance is the biggest and best exchange of the current time and you can deposits your funds safely there.
In general you should trade on the exchange which is popular among people and is secure . If should have 2fa and other security features.

That's right, for now there is no need to be confused about choosing a good and trusted exchange, because there are many famous exchanges that certainly have a good reputation in this industry which will make crypto users easy to get that exchange. But when you want to trade a token that is not listed or available in the trusted exchange, then at least you have to be more careful to use an exchange that requires you to use it.

Reputable exchanges site more safe compared to other so it's makes me feel comfortable to store my coins to them and that's my choice. Once the exchanges site hack my coins gone also for sure so I have alternative way I store in other wallet or seperate wallet but not all the coins because I still have coins in exchanges site incase the coin increase I sell it quickly.

The main factor in choosing an exchange is that you have to look at trading volume, if the trading volume is good then it can also increase the value of the exchange, including security and services.

The biggest factor is popularity. First of all, an exchange won't be recognize or praised by a lot of people if they don't see or feel the service that they want. So you don't really need to research so much into this area because the users will give you feedbacks that you need to consider or not when you look for a good exchange.

everyone find good exchanges. people need money but they do not have enough contribution.  there are many number of exchanges some are new and several are old and strong. when we chose an exchange we should consider that how much strong it and market capacities of those, as well as stability and transaction fees also considered.  you can find number of users and current capacity of eth or btc in exchanges. then you will be able to take correct exchange.

Well you’ve got to talk about security because there are some of these exchanges that are always' careless. So if you don’t look out for them you will end up making use of their platforms and when hackers strikes, you might end up a victim.

There’s one exchange I know that I know that has been hacked more than twice ,and I think that’s because they are so careless. There are good exchanges that has never been hacked even for once before, just like Coinbase, their site is very secured or should I say because they are very careful, lol.

Obviously, almost all of us tend to choose exchange which gains more popular than others. Actually, a number of exchanges are created every single day, it includes both bad and good exchanges, so it's not easy to choose a new good exchange. Often mostly people choose a dominant popularity exchange in order that they may feel less of worry. Nothing can be sure in something which connects with the Internet, but if you choose a better reputation, the security may be much better.

When you want to consider a business that is good first see the clarity,Good popularity is very influential in a good future exchange But not a few people are still confused in choosing the perfect exchange, because each exchange rate changes constantly
New Exchange still use 'low fee and 24/7 support' as marketing to get new customer. fact like that can got a lot of user on other exchange then we know they will change rule when joined and customer send alot of money into them exchange

Security? Well, that's great. But how would you consider that? Do you have something to share with me? like an example between two exchanges in this regard so that I can examine and compare other exchanges and be able to put security under my considerations.

The things to consider in new exchange varies upon the kind of platform you want to use , but few things remains inevitable that are

1. security like 2FA, google auth and other

2. How the website looks , like live feeds and all

3 .  what exactly it is offering in terms of advantages , like low fees, etc

4. Who are its Competetors

5 . You can simple put a small amount or you can simply go for small investment and trades , and then see if its good for you , and how support staff is helping you .

6 For P2P trades you can visit coinbaazar.com , LBC, also if you looking for centralized exchanges you can check who is available in your location.

Look what pairs do you need, look for promotion, to get something more from your trading, look fees for trading and withdrawing. In the end you need to sum it up, how much you invested. how much you spent for fees, profit you made, and in the end to calculate what is clean profit, on a side from your investment.
Good exchange always have some nice promotion, good exchange have law fees and in possibility to lower them even more. For good exchange you don`t need to do KYC, it`s how I look on question what is good exchange.

Well I think reputation covers everything. If an exchange is popular and has a good reputation, then there is no need for you going about and doing a research about it, though I was a bit disappointed at Binance on what happened this year, their exchange getting hacked or I don't even know if that's just a story they came up with but whatever it is, it was very disappointing. Anyway, there are still a lot of exchanges that has good reputation and are popular as well. There is Coinbase, though there are people who don't like them due to regulation. There are still others as well. A lot of people will tell you to check out their level of security, you only know what they let you know and that's it. Unless you will be looking for an exchange that has 2fa, if that's what you consider security.

For me what I look for in an exchange especially centralized ones
1. Good reputation in the public domain
2. Less to no deposit/withdraws experienced by customers
3. Fees are easily accessible
4. Clean and easy to use user interface
5. Minimum trades allowed should be visible and known before funding own account
6. If kyc is needed atleast below a certain amount one should use the exchange

And the obvious good support, good security etc

Scam free? There no exchange that do guarantee full safety yet all things are hackable.

Centralized? Typical thing on most exchangers existed as of this moment.

High Volume? With this indicator alone you will able to know on which exchange been trusted or been used
by crypto community which signifies a good exchange on end.

Too bad that even the 2fa security feature is not even enough to protect us from hackers on our Binance account. These are all effective way and really helpful for newbies to know how a certain exchange differ from another. Good exchanges also has a good reputation based from the trader or user community this includes no scam accusations, no hacking incidents, no malicious activities like funds disappearing, best security practices applied and most of all a good exchange has a huge volume which may satisfy a buyer or a seller to make transactions faster and easier and more convenient.

The exchange should be popular and must be on the top exchange on coinmarketcap, and thier platform must be user friendly for all the traders, otp eveytime you login on your account to prevent unknown sign in.

Are the customers overall happy with the exchange and does it offer quick support reply to the tickets raised by customers

One might even almost say that even an exchange with a shitty reputation, yet somehow finds a way to let people keep custody of their own private keys (without ever needing to share ownership with anyone else), should get first pick over a reputable exchange.

Besides, reputations are only as good as their last good/bad action.

Although, cryptopia really seems to have survived more than its fair share of bad reputation events cause people keep coming back to every new version born from the ashes of the last.

Security should be one primary focus although no exchange has maximum guarantee of safe funds that's why it's always to store your funds in your wallet. Also one has to consider past users experience because most exchange out there has bad users experience which leads to lost of funds amongst others. To add to this is the support channel, if an exchange takes a week or more to reply a customer complaint, then such user has to see that as a bad sign.

Like seriously, why do you all newbies like to stress yourselves?? The worst part of it all is that you can't even do the research. Asking what's the best ways to know a good exchanges doesn't help you in any way. Okay I have seen some people mention security, so how the heck are you going to know the level of security of any site when you don't even work there?? That's funny seriously. Instead of all these stress, you should just go for the popular exchanges. There is coinbase and there is binance, so no need for all these questions. Just go for the popular exchanges and you will be safe, these ones are not going to mess with you cause they care a lot about their reputation.

I am not an active trader. Better to say I'm a holder. But it happens when I need to exchange my coins.
In such case I look on the fee which an exchanger takes, as for the exchange as for cashing out. Those two things I look first when I need the exchanger.

While you're looking for good exchanges you need to do some research. In the basis of volume, circulation, security, wide usage and liquidity. Nowadays exchanges are getting frame because of their community fame.
If the have a strong community, they are ready to put their money in the the new IEO whichever coming from that exchanges.
Best exchanges as my knowledge,
Binance
Bitrex
Bitmax
Etherdelta
Cryptopia

I am a trader or at least that is how i see myself. I trade on binance, okex, idex, mercatox, bittrex, houbi and some other exchange. Lately i notice a lot of new crypto exchange popping here and there. And as much as i know and safe guard my password and secure my account with 2fa, I am still curious of the factors other traders consider when they are signing up on a new exchange. Would love to know some of your key factors so i might look into those too.

First and foremost, look at the history of the exchange. If they exists for a number of years now, it may further strengthen their position as a trusted/top exchange in the internet. Another thing to look for is their history of security. Although all exchanges are prone to scamming, look for exchanges that has tight-security. Lastly, exchanges vary on the price of their trades. This may be a key factor on determining which type of exchange website one should use.

Even exchanges with a good reputation have been "hacked: and stolen money from their customers.  No matter how reputable an exchange is the coins aren't truly yours unless you hold the private keys yourself.

No exchange is safe from hacking due to their nature existing in the internet. I would take your advise to have your private keys stored in a physical hardware for maximum security. But some reputable exchanges have insurance that can answer assuming that their system has been hacked and stolen.

This question is getting too much in this forum. This should no longer be a question. Just cut it short and go for the popular exhcnages cause you're already aware that they are not going to disappoint you. You will only have problem if you're the type that keeps going for all these small exchanges that are going no where in this life and only good at faking their trading volume. There are good exchanges already, why not choose Coinbase, Binance, Huobi or Kraken? You have these good sites and even more of them that has good reputation, so why keep on asking this question? Huh

First thing first is the review of the exchange by users. What is their reputation and for how long as they been in existence? You then look at the type of security provided in conjunction with the user interface and how friendly it is. Lastly, what is the volume of trade in the exchange as reported. Is it real or are they faking it? You can get this by user's review on the exchange, Googling will sure assist you a lot.

That’s how you will be looking for new exchange and end up signing up for the one that will scam you of your hard earned money. There are lots of new exchanges popping up like every week and majority of them are not worth going for, because their services are very bad and some are scammers. But if you need a new exchange to try, there is this one that I saw and they look very good, even their website looks good on mobile, name of their exchange is Monfex. The crypto exchanges you have mentioned are already the best, and there is no need to be looking for another one when you have the best at hand.

For a newbie, I guess this is the best factor on how they should look on exchanges. A popular exchange means that many traders are using it and trusting it at the same time.

But they should also be cautious that some popular exchanges have some good and bad reviews.

Do not write them on ann thread bro. Mostly people never give the reply for the investors or general participants there on the forum. Kindly do the PM or send the notification via Telegram or anything which work well and you will be able to find their availability there...

Is that so? there are times that the dev itself replies to the queries/questions of people who are interested with their service/coins.

Yeah much better to contact them directly to their support or authentic telegram channel.

Firstly, note that it is not advisable to leave your cryptocurrency on any exchanges for long regardless of the perceived level of security. They may be hacked. What I do mainly is to check the review of the exchange from users. I get a lot of feedbacks doing this. All I need to know about security, customer care etc will be revealed.
we can see the scale of trading on new exchanges and can make a comparison with the old exchanges
if it is profitable in the trade by conducting arbitration it can be more promising if you succeed in this field.

While you're looking for good exchanges you need to do some research. In the basis of volume, circulation, security, wide usage and liquidity. Nowadays exchanges are getting frame because of their community fame.
If the have a strong community, they are ready to put their money in the the new IEO whichever coming from that exchanges.
Best exchanges as my knowledge,
Binance
Bitrex
Bitmax
Etherdelta
Cryptopia

I think you are not updated on exchanges. Cryptopia is already closed and they were hacked. People has lost a lot of funds from this exchange. Etherdelta is another shit exchange and I will not recommend it at all.
Even the best exchange Binance was hacked this year, so we should not blindly trust any exchange.

probably because the exchange is for trade and not for the exchange and storage of money

Security is what most people are looking out for when they are signing up for a new exchange… But sometimes you also have to play your own role in ensuring the safety of your account on any platform you're making use of. Just like some people would tell you, never store your money on an exchange except the amount you're trading with, apart from that, nothing else should be stored on an exchange, cause they are online and can be hacked at anytime and stolen. So you playing your own part is also very important to ensure that you're safe. And like you have said, having the two factor authentication is very important… but I don't know secured it can be though..

The level of security for any exchange you want to chose is very very important. It’s best that you check how secured they are keeping their site before you start deciding for other things. They need to have features like the 2fa and others, and this is one of the reasons why I like Coinbase, it’s very secured…

Just the regulation and not available to every location. You can also check their history to see what kind of problems they have had in future and all that, it will help you know and also check how they have been trying to cope with and also solve that problem and prevent it from happening again.

When looking for a good exchange, the first thing to consider is security. The security should be impenetrable, and exchange should respond fast, in case of any attacks.

Find out, if the broker is compliant with the local laws or not. For instance, when I first traded through BeaXchange, I was relieved to know that they have registered with the European Union.

Check if the exchange is cross-platform.

At last, consider reviewing the transparency and trading fee of the exchange.

In case, if you are stuck somewhere, you can join this group, https://t.me/beaxchange for more information. Hope it helps!

The first thing I check is the review and the user base of the exchange, most exchange out there involves in bot trading which am not a fan of and because of this I make sure I read users review about the exchange. Apart from that 100% security can't be guaranteed on any exchange so because of this, I make sure i don't keep any of my funds on any exchange but I make sure I encrypt my password security level to the highest level. To include this one most consider the exchange regulations and mostly the withdrawal fee.

I myself see larger markets, especially potential coin coins, that way we will get a fair exchange,in the beginning, it can be noted that anything that can generate an exchange can produce good quality,

Everyone has its own reasons and high trading volume,  large market coverage and similar often atrract users to exchanges, especialy new emerging ones but from my point of view security is still the most important thing. Because you will not have anything of all services provided if you are not safe and secured and if exchange doesn't protect users properly.
Security does always matter but there no such thing on having a safe exchange.Take a look example with Binance yet this is one of the most trusted
exchange but still it do have issues when it comes to security. If we do look and consider things up when it comes to exchange then rankings, reputation and popularity would matter.

If I'm choosing an exchange , I'd usually go for an exchange that us popular and has lots of users and all that.
I don't go for all these small exchanges that are still new, no matter how secured they may claim to be ,I am not buying that.

Why I said this is because you can't really tell how secured and exchange is… they are the ones in charge of the safety of your account and you can't really how they are handling the money that is in their hands...no matter how secured they might appear to be, it's likely that they might not be...so best to go for a site with a good reputation...cause that way you're sure that if any problem occurs, you're likely going to have your problems sorted out… that's my piece of suggestion for newbies.

Personally, I look for an exchange which has:
1. Liquidity
2. Tech support 24/7
3. Mobile App
4. An interface to my taste
5. The one which supports a lot of AltCoins
