If we only HODL and not trade, how will we ever make profit. If we do HODL, how long do we have to just hold. The only thing happens is the price keep going down. I believe instead of just keep holding, we should at least start trading. For beginners they can also learn how to trade. I've started to trade 3 months ago and I've been earning profit since. This is just my opinion and I would encourage others to do so as well. They told you to hold it because they knew the market is on the decline right now, and it is very likely you bought it on top of its current price. that was why, they told you to hold it. The meaning behind hold is, to not sell your coin for nothing but instead keeping it for something. Of course, what they were trying to say is to get profit from your position. we have our goals, and i bet none of us will keep holding it once it reachs our desired price. And in the current scenario, it is just the opposite and everything is going down so people are hating the term of HODL. There is nothing wrong in both the tactics but one should know technical analysis and some knowledge of trading to reap some profit or survive in the current market. We have unique way of tackling this bear market, some are good to stay, sit and just watch the market through his portfolio. If we do that, then you better not engage yourself here at all. The answer is, you need to plan ahead what will you do. Plan where you wanna take profits. Learn market cycle coz i believe that will answer your question. Better not daytrade too, coz a lot of price action on the lower time frame are just noise. Hold strategy always use long term period meaning only replace your money into trusted product and have future not hope. For beginner please use demo account because practice can open your mind about market works and risk. Even for a lot of people, they have decided to stay out of the market for a while, except for long term traders and holders anyway, so in a way, you want to know your strategy and be able to take advantage of the market in your own way, but without knowledge, that would be a hard thing to achieve. I myself of course I would trade if I will get even a little profit or just to get my capital and then buy another asset. If you have a some trading experience and can predict a little of global trend, it s definitely worth to trade from your portfolio. With just hodl and not cut losses, you can go down by 70-80% easily. For a beginner, holding is a better choice but of course if you see profit you can either sell half of your holding or exit at all. But in time of depression where prices are going down, you can trade by shorting and buy back when it goes down more but that will be more risky.
