The famous address 1933 just started splitting... MK just woke up? Can it be connected to Gox?

Fascinating... and concerning at the same time.

Given the odd original number (111111.11) and the age there was some speculation that these were lost coins. Now we have proof the wallet is "live", the possibility this is a whale preparing to cash out can't be ignored.

It will be interesting to see how the market reacts to the news, I expect we will hear a lot of open discussion about this very soon.

Looks like a MtGox customer moving their funds. The BTC withdrawals from MtGox to the Main BTC address https://blockchain.info/address/1933phfhK3ZgFQNLGSDXvqCn32k2buXY8a (https://blockchain.info/address/1933phfhK3ZgFQNLGSDXvqCn32k2buXY8a) are listed below (from the leaks).

The early adopter sitting on $70m in BTC is probably shitting himself after knowing the hacker got all his personal details, passport scan, home address etc. He knows he's going to be a HUGE target for criminals.

It is also possible some gunmen were already sent to his home address and threatened to harm him and his family unless he transferred the bitcoins to the criminals. I hope this is not the case otherwise criminals now control all those bitcoins.  :-\

This is indeed a fear now that all historical data is available, one could easily link a username/email to a BTC address.

Title: Re: 1933 (111,114 BTC) moving
Post by: Taras on March 10, 2014, 02:16:11 AM

Sad part is that after this leak, someone really could know who the person is associated with that address.

Not necessarily. It can't be a coincidence that this happens immediately following the internal database leak from Gox - see thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508162.0

It's quite possible Mr Whale here is concerned with being publicly identified from information contained in the leak, or at least a risk from anything they redacted from it but still in the hacker's hands.

I'm not a data extraction expert, is anyone here able to cross-check the 1933phfhK3ZgFQNLGSDXvqCn32k2buXY8a address as well as any addresses that were significant inputs to it to see if this aligns with any of the data there?

If you can - thanks in advance.

There was a large withdrawal of 15,000 BTC which could only have been made from an account with "Trusted" Status.

For trusted status, physical copies of the documents must be sent by mail and they must be certified by an apostille.

It is possible, but why would Mark Karpeles need a MtGox account to move bitcoins? Or could this be Mark's personal account?

I still think it is more likely to be an early adopter who is concerned about being a target now that their private details are being passed around criminals. Or that the criminals already got the bitcoins through coercion at the individuals private residence.

Anyone who has withdrawn thousands of bitcoins from MtGox should split the bitcoins into many different wallets and then send them to another exchange such as btc-e and then withdraw them to encrypted wallets and hide/bury them. This will break trail through the blockchain.

Just blech.  The whole thing continues to be irritating.  I was a verified, trusted user, but exited last year.  My holdings are safe, but I'm assuming my information is in a digital pile with everyone else, waiting to be sold to the highest bidder; all the while we have what looks like Mark moving close to 300,000 coins around after declaring bankruptcy.

If the final story culminates in Bitcoin Foundation involvement, shame on me I suppose.

Very high probability the 111K is a gox controlled address. At least two gox deposits are confirmed to have been consolidated into this addr.

Well spotted sir, but what would you speculate the motivation is behind that?
Also, am I right to assume only mods and/or admin can set this meta tag on a thread?

The truth will probably be stranger than anything we can imagine right now. My guess is that the 311k coins that have been moving are still safely under trustee control.

Far more unsettling for MtGox users in general should be the fact that a large portion of blockchain has now been mapped directly to specific users (or can easily be), with ID scans, addresses etc. and full trading histories, balances, etc. The entire data dump was supposedly sold at least once - likely several times - for a paltry 100btc.

The Target card skimming scandal is nothing compared to this.

He was even willing to sell parts of it for 10BTC if people didn't want the whole thing.

Nah, most of the threads are indexed by search engines. Go have a look at the source of just about any other thread page, no robots meta tag...

Odd, so I guess the mod's must have a way of enabling it on individual threads.

What makes this thread worthy of such a tag?

In fact, Google indexes this forum instantly, unless instructed not to. I just went to a random thread, then copy and paste a phrase submitted minutes ago and searched for it via Google:

I've noticed it before being in place with other quasi-controversial threads, but opted to not call it out, kinda hoping/guessing that it was an anomaly.

Only an admin would have such privileges, and would have to be available and know that such was warranted.

It's conditional case.

$context['robot_no_index'] is set on only pages that are duplicates of others, which is said to help indexing.

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=234844.0

So maybe after page 1 it puts that or something? That's what the SMF forum people are saying about it.

Allegedly its prevent search engines indexing duplicate content, which is very bad for SEO.

Also from briefly reading a couple threads over @ the SMF forum on the issue, in this version of SMF, the search de-duplication doesn't work well.

I just noticed when I referenced a different thread from my watchlist (i.e. goto "new" posts) the noindex directive is given. This would support the theory that SMF sets it on "special" pages to avoid duplicate content for crawlers.

When I open the same thread directly from the main forum list, noindex is not in the source.

This address appears in the Kleiman Estate vs Craig Wright documents.

1933                                          ***XYa8
1933phfhK3ZgFQNLGSDXvqCn32k2buXY8a

Is it the same wallet?

But I find it quite curious that the owner of the wallet decided to move it at this point where Craig Wright is in a battle with the Bcash fork.

Craig is not the owner of 1933 wallet, all the addresses which he claimed were either Mt.Gox addresses, or didn't even exist on the dates which he back-forged in the agreements. He even claimed the address where the stolen funds from the earlier Mt.Gox hack went was his. He is a well-known nut case, just picking random large addresses and claiming they are his. 1933 is most probably from SR.

Btw, I managed to find a link between 1LDN (Ross) and 1DKY (600k btc) wallets, by randomly picking and following one outgoing transaction from 1LDN. There are 50 intermediate addresses between these two wallets. Funds passed through Instawallet before being deposited to 1DKY. Someone who knows how to look for links non-manually, could try to find other and shorter links between these two wallets.
