In my own opinion, it does not need to buy for merit in order to higher the rank here in this forum. If you are consistent and confident with your comments and statements here you can earn merit. Hope this can help.

Firstly this is the wrong section of the forum, that's assuming it is even worthy of being a thread.

Let me give you a piece of advice. If you only post with the motivation of earning more merits and thus more money, then you will not be earning many merits. The people with high merit counts are the people who post because they want to contribute to the forum, through information and knowledge share and through debate and discussion. Focus on that and merits will be secondary.

Is buying merits allowed here?

In most forums (unrelated to crypto) this would mean an instant ban.

It is allowed, but just like buying accounts, it's heavily frowned upon and you risk red trust from DT.
Buying Merit is like buying a medal, you may actually get what you want, but without any accomplishment. Judging by your post history, you can earn Merit on your own. You got 2 from theymos already, that's worth something!

I clicked on the thread thinking someone had been busted of buying lots of merit on to be disappointed a "sell your kidney for merit" message.  ;D

Adding it all up, it looks like you wanted to buy merits, scouted the black market for it, saw the price, and finally resolved to keep your kidneys in their place, which is definitely wiser than the opposite. Really, if earning a single merit is a quimera for people on the forum, I don’t know how real life issues are coped with.

I have a suspicion that the title is the truth and the OP is a smokescreen.  He's probably looking for people to PM him about selling him merits, because he thinks there'll be some who'll do it--and he's probably right.  Keep an eye on his merit score, see if it changes at some point and who gave him his first merit.

It's either that, or this is just a thinly-veiled merit-begging attempt.  Either way, he's going on ignore.

You are absolutely right. The title alone is a clear indication, sandwiched with emojis only seen in the altcoin Ann and Bounty boards. An indirect advert of sorts

I have checked your post history. You are basically the perfect example of a shitposter. Couldn't find a single post worth meriting.

Eventually someone will give you some merit even if by mistake but, if you don't change, you will still be a shitposter.

I wouldn't worry so much about merits and concentrate on being a USEFUL member of the community. That's my advice.

Buying merit is pointless as you will loss your profile reputation once DT tag you for merit trading. Better try to write quality posts with less mistake. On you posts you have used several small letters which should be capital.

I put you on ignore, so no merits from me, and I'm desperate to give them away at the moment. So why are you on ignore.

I hate all caps in titles, it indicates a person who can't create a decent post in my opinion.
Also, I hate those stupid glyphs. That another indication of a spammy useless post.
The topic is rubbish, and has been posted numerous times before.

Please give us a break, and don't keep on "doing posts".

OP did you really feel you were going to get any merits for this thread?
You'll only lose the possibility of earning merits from some In the future as you'll probably get ignored or you username associated with crap posting.
We do not need any more merit education

No one will sell their merits for they can be reported after selling and get a red tag especially if there are evidences that could be presented from the one who will make the claim. So account users now are very careful in giving merits. Some of them will not give anymore and just let there smerits just being keep in their accont on which it is not the way theymos made this design for smerits. Hopefully theymos.will going to implement the decaying of unused smerits.

Holy sh!t , i was going through his posts to hopefully find a post that might be worthy of a merit as i have 1 from the 2 you gave me. thank God i found nothing and I am not going to be on anybody's radar or suspect list  ;D

This is a very innocent way of thinking. But it is good that you have come to this conclusion. Unfortunately, not everyone would feel bad about buying merits and cheating. So the big demotivating factor when buying merits is not that you would foul your soul. It is that you will dirty your account forever with a very likely Red Trust.

And taking out a Red Trust is a very difficult task. Much simpler to build informative and useful posts that can acquire some merits.

I am not the best example of how to get many merits since I still lack 148 merits for the next ranking. Even so, I always earn a few merits every month trying to inform or discuss matters about Bitcoin and Altcoins that I like and read about. I always think of providing useful information to someone rather than just replying to a topic about my personal opinion. Bitcointalk is not a social media, it is a forum for debates.

Well, what the OP said was true but creating a thread like this for me and for others is another way to get some merits or worse another way to buy merits.

I got 45 merits out of nowhere and I get it without cheating or PM'ing anybody to give to me. Just post and post and never mind the Merits. What is important here is knowledge and not merits. Now I'm curious. Which is more important for most users here. Merit or Knowledge.

Also was thinking that merits are losing their value as fast as the ICO market is losing its.

the only real thing i like MERIT for, is to send some out when i like a post/appreciate someone... doesn't always need to be with the greatest knowledge, but when someone posts for the right reasons or with some good humor, i think it deserves merit as well, as long if it isn't someone trolling, or entering the thread for wrong reasons
we cannot all be tech experts and have high knowledge about the matter... but that doesn't mean one cannot deserve or be able to get some merit.

i know for myself i'm a long term hodler, big time BTC believer, stack increasing guy on my own ways, absolute not the most technical guy, but i do like being on the forum, especially WO thread..... and i just know i'm in here with good intention, and just think that could be worth merit as well.

I read what I assume is the OP and I had two thoughts:

1- Your English doesn’t appear to be very good and I would suggest you primarily post in sections in which your primary language is spoken.
2- I wanted to give you merit because I am in favor of your idea, and that a merit marketplace would likely result in better posts because it would align incentives of signature advertisers (those who wear paid ads) with having a forum that intelligent discussion takes place. However upon review of your posts convinced me not to.

In connection to your theory, I am also thinking that OP might have other accounts where should the bought merits will be handed out. If that is the case then it will harder for us to trace the said suspected transactions

OP this post is childish.  This type of post ultimately stops the chance to get any reward (merit) because so many members will just put you in their ignore list.  It will be treated equivalent to merit begging.  With this post you have lost a lot. My suggestion is never ever think of merit.  Just try to do good on your part.  Good quality posts / replies is the only way to be merited.
