every gold-backed project in this community was criticised as another crap one because in actuality, they dont have the real gold backing. i know one for sure who has real gold in their stash, which is the xaurum project. but lets see what youve got. too early to tell anyway.

You're right, quite many "golden" projects are... well, let's call it disappointing. While others are indeed gold-backed and deserve much more exposure and liquidity. We aspire to build a DEX which will be able to harbor all the reputable gold-related projects, and Xaurum is, of course, one of the first tokens to list  :)

so are you going to list tokens or altcoins that are gold-related only? or those are your priorities? how are you going to filter the legitimacy part of a particular project when it comes to gold-related claims?

Correct, we want to prioritize gold-related projects but also provide an opportunity to trade other kinds of "digital gold"  :)
When it comes to the coins which are pegged to a certain amount of physical gold, the only way to tell if it makes any sense is to check how it's stored and audited. We have communicated to accountable companies and experts in the gold market, specifically in gold storage, so that we would understand the nature of those claims. And as the DEX develops, the tokens to be listed will always be evaluated by its community with the final decision made through voting.

A team of 30+ experienced developers and blockchain enthusiasts could not find out that there is already a GIO coin which one is Graviex exchanges coin.

So that looks fake for me, until you proof you have such a big team

We understand your concerns, probably, there has never been a single digital project that wouldn't cause them. But there's not much to prove here - we can only show our work. You can visit githubs of the team members from the website and check their individual and collective performance. They have been working for a while and we are planning to have the MVP launched in January 2019. Its screenshot is already on the website, video review coming.

I'm interested if this project can relate to the dynamics of gold and that steady supply and demand situation.   Got you on my watchlist anyhow, certainly I expect large changes in the value of dollar in its current state which is very much bereft of gold and more to do with politics not even trade so much anymore, some currency of some kind will be taking over that global reserve prime position.  With dollar valued so highly currently nows the time to not be asleep at the switch  :P

Exactly! The idea behind this project was actually born when we saw that something is coming. They have been predicting a new crash for a while, and gold has always been a "safer option" in the trying times and lately - an underestimated asset. We saw it confirmed just this week when the stock market crashed and gold rally started. The big problem is that it's really hard to trade it, for people, not for institutions. But here we have crypto 8)

Heres a chart I spotted earlier this evening to match what you say about the gold rally possibility and so on.    We have been in decline since about 2011 for gold, when it last reached its all time high.   However its very possible gold is defying that long term negative trend and the chart is depicting that disparity in price action :

Yes, if you look at gold prices versus Bitcoin, it has just copied this 2018 crash but it took 7 years, basically. For this year the situation wasn't that "shiny" as well till the very last months:

To keep going gold needed to stay higher than $1200 and it was struggling till December. With a strong dollar and stock market growth it might have not had a chance, but as soon as Christmas stock crash happened, gold reached its 6 months ATH. That's what making gold that special - it doesn't depend on the other markets, so when stocks rally it may go down, but again when everything crashes it goes up as the "safe haven asset".
This could give the market the necessary stability component, of course.

that would be nice if you can really implement such procedure. validating their gold certificates is one way to verify their claims also. though they can produce fake docs but you can tell the difference of the authentic ones if youve been in this industry for so long. but whatever path you will take, as long as you do your part to establish the veracity of those projects, thats fine with me.

Sure! It's easier when they are issuing tokens on the basis of the existing golden business, with all the rest it can be... anything. We were looking at the Royal Mint crypto project with much hope, but then it was canceled. This kind of move would really help to create credibility, for all the industry. We cannot exclude though that another big institution won't come up with the same idea, there are gossips... That would be exciting

The GIO ticker is already taken ...

We are aware of Graviocoin existence  :) But for GOLD.IO the GIO idea was born long before we started the thread, and we are the only EOS-based project with this ticker.

So, being a decentralized exchange based on EOS, will any fee on the DEX use the payment of the fee be in EOS? Is there any bonus for those who test the DEX beta?

Yes, there's a number of projects sharing the same ticker, you can see it at CMC as well. We will see how to fix it if it creates any issues for our development. But we don't see it as an obstacle  :)

The native token of the exchange will be GIO and it will be the primary token for the fees. We aspire to have the maximum involvement from our community and we will reward it, of course. How are we going to do it? First of all, we will redistribute a portion of fees collected (through the airdrops etc) back to the community to nourish the projects they choose (you can read more about it in our Goldpaper on the website).

Right! We want to prioritize the golden tokens to provide the maximum for investors in these turbulent days, but we will list other tokens as well for maximum convenience - and yes, the decisions on what we list will be influenced by the Community :)

It's not a token at all. It's a decentralized exchange for gold backed tokens.

This would be great to have. I've never actually tried to use an app for an exchange though. It seems like there's usually so many options that it wouldn't do great on a small touch screen, anyone else care to share their experience?

I've used them on mobile before. I definitely prefer a desktop browser experience, but I'm that way with just about any platform.

Still in a pinch, having a decentralized exchange in your pocket at any time is pretty awesome.

I dont think thats a bad idea but it could be very early on in the cycle of demand and interest in gold based tokens, or investments, holdings and so on.    Right this moment, I dont think the general public really cares about gold even one tenth of as much as they will in future.    So I wouldnt criticise any idea in that direction, I've no doubt its a growth market but you might need to make this project last a few years before it really has a chance of reaching a proper peak demand.

I just mean that in contrast to 2017 where BTC and crypto in general really saw the meters all hitting 11 in terms of interest and customer flow into various projects.   We are so far away from that and gold has potential but I think its years.   Gold itself has a decade long time scale to it

We will prioritize gold-backed tokens, but other types can also be traded. Why? Well, you saw all the market development in 2018 and the prices drop 60-90%. Stablecoins and tokens backed by the real assets can be great in these conditions - when the market is going red, gold-backed tokens have the minimum price, the price of underlying gold. And this price is not as volatile as that of stocks or crypto. So, for 2019 Goldman Sachs predicted at least 10% growth for gold. That means, a crypto portfolio which includes gold-backed tokens has at least one stable asset dedicated for growth no matter what is happening in the market  :)

Sure! Except for the gold part, we operate under the DEX+DAC formula, and that's very important! DAC (Decentralized Autonomous Community), our token holders, will be making all kinds of decisions through voting. They will be able to define all the important aspects of the DEX development for the mutual benefits and of course for their own profit  :)
