In the past some coins has shown surprise upwards movement and ethereum been one of the popular coins has shown significant pump in 2017 and early 2018! Will ethereum get to $500 this year even if sec approved ETF?

Everything is connected to Bitcoin. If Bitcoin surprise us with rates over 10,000 USD, then Ethereum will get to 500 USD or more. If Bitcoin continue to gravity around 3000-5000 USD, then I don't thing there is a chance Ether to near close to 500 USD. I think people are overrating the ETF hype.

I think it will depend on two things. That's what you wrote, so ETF approval and successful Ethereum hardfork. If both events will be positive, I am sure that at the end of the year the price of ETH will be at least $500.

It's quite possible, it all really depends on ETF, but 500 $ is not so high and unreal goal, 2019 won't be definitely huge bomb in crypto, but some growth we will see.  ;)

I don't see the price of Ethereum at $500 unless BTC reached a figure like $6k and above this year, the whole market is BTC dependent and as long as the trade of Ethereum is against BTC it will continue to dictate its price also remember that the ICO party seems over and BNB tokens is entering into the ICO game which will surely have impact on the growth of Ethereum

Ethereum reaches $ 500 for this year, I think it's very difficult. But everything can happen because we see that throughout 2018 prices continue to decline. And I am sure that by 2019 this will definitely be reversed, so the Crypto market will continue to increase.

$500 is quite optimistic but $200 is achievable imho - inflation rate is dropping and technical innovations are being introduced.

We are still not sure on how much the effect of ETF that will be created to the crypto market once it is approved. It's not only bitcoin that will have that positive effect but also including Ethereum and some other notable coins.

Why you have so big hopes for ETFs while some biggest things must happens in this year? I think launch of Fidelity and Bakkt platform much more important, because big institutional investors will come with huge money in crypto market.

I think ETH will hit more than 500 USD. I have an option to believe it. I think after Constantinople hard fork Eth network will be very fast and upgraded and then we can see a different, better Ethereum network. And then the ETH market can be boosted too. So, It is not impossible for ETH to cross 500 USD. Let's hope for the best.

I have no hope about the SEC approving ETF! And I don't think ETH can make 500 USD this year. Because, the market chart says a bearish market will come again, and BTC price would be 2400-2800 USD! I mean, 2019 will be another bear year for the crypto market. I think ETH price will overcome 500 USD to hit 700-800 USD in mid of 2020!

the reason why ETH pump was huge back in 2017 was due to the surge of ICO scams. we were having at least one per day at some point and some days even a couple of them in one day. and to invest in them you had to buy ETH and that pumped the price more than normal.

now ICOs are nearly dead and nobody is buying ETH anymore so a 5x pump is going to be nearly impossible to happen specially now that there are a lot of competing smart contract platforms that are a lot better than ethereum.

It's too hard and it's like an impossible task. ETH can only increase to $ 20-50 and its price will be dumped because previous investors will try to sell all to reduce losses in this market.

Nah i doubt it. Or it's more likely that eth will stay under 200 for majority of this year. I'd be surprised if it even breaks the 200usd level. Though i'm not too worried because ether is an established coin with solid following. The rise of it may not be that quick but i believe it'll peak in a few years breaking previous aths.

But if there are big waves of pump coming at the market that can make the price increase higher, people will panic, and they will do a fast selling because they thought that there is something happen with the project. Hasn't shown any significant price pumping, but the market is not that worse. With cryptocurrency things change in a very short time period. Just take into consideration the previous price pumping of ethereum. Litecoin and ethereum were almost in the same value, all of the sudden Litecoin peaked high, following which ethereum went above Litecoin and continued to reach the peak around $1500. Likewise this time too things can change in any time. Let's wait for the good.

Considering that the Vitalik and the dev team have already postponed the launch of a Constantinople hard fork several times and each time this had a negative effect on the Ethereum's price , I can assume that this will happen the next time too.
No one knows how negatively the market will react to this and where its price will fall after that, but if we add to this a global bearish trend of the whole cryptocurrency market, then the prospects for this year look depressing. Nobody can really predict the price in the crypto world. Either for Bitcoin, Ethereum or any other altcoin. Of course, many people hope that the price of Ethereum will rise to 500$ this year, but it's hard to predict whether it will. My personal assessment is a no. I think we'll have to wait until 2020 or 2021 for such a price, but of course i don't know if my prediction is correct. Time will tell.  ;)

While I sincerely understand the fuzz about ETF and all crypto derivative market, I must admit that too much reliance on such instruments will render Bitcoin a little more centralized as we are more dependent on such institutions to make Bitcoin hit its hallmark. But for Ethereum, there's a lot at play that constrains the price from going any higher. You're right with what you said about the ETF and BAKKT to be some kind of way to centralized crypto because it was the same act that was played by the CBOE which literally lead to the dump in price of bitcoin market acouple of months. I don't really think that $500 is that difficult for etherum to reach. Wait for few months rathar than a year and you will see $500+ price for etherum. Bear markets are about to over and the bull run will approach soon so sticking with the markets to find a perfect investment coin for us is better always. if etf get approved we will see a bullish btc movement and altcoin temporary dump but as eth going to have new protocol activated this year so we can expect a rise in price but it all demand on market manipulation if we see another crypto rally then i can predict eth to 300-400$ but if there is no significant rally than 160-230$ i am predicting later this year ,it all demand on manipulation.

OP, my guess is that Ethereum will even go beyond the $500 mark. I'm thinking something above the $1000 mark. Ethereum is performing better lately.
