IMHO this will remain only as a payment system, not a cryptocurrency. Even if they issued a stablecoin then it will hardly increase the demand in other cryptos.

I agree it can more like this so we could never expect speculative forces to be kneeling on the altar of Facebook. I am sure that this can be primarily be boosting the Facebook ecosystem as the coin can heavily be utilized in doing business with the many platforms already established by the Facebook conglomerate. More of like a payment system that can be used within their different platforms. FB credits and money has been around for quite some time now, and it seems that they only want some interconnectedness between different platforms that they have, in terms of payment system that is. This wouldn't hit the exchanges IMO, as this will be exclusively used on their platforms. If it would then be released for public speculation, imagine the hype it might generate on its first deployment.

Same. This is pretty much the only good thing I could see about it that could positively affect the cryptocurrency space. It just sort of gives cryptocurrencies more sort of "legitimacy". As far as I can remember, yes Facebook has build a 'blockchain expert' team but I thought it was to explore blockchain's technology security feature, I never thought that they will go tinkering having their own crypto for that matter.

It's very likely to be a stablecoin as said in the article. What do you mean rival? Stablecoins aren't even in direct competition with bitcoin and ethereum to start with. Possibly, we all witnessed that Facebook has the buying power to achieve almost everything on the Internet now and they're still wanting for more acquisition of trendy things and Cryptocurrency is not exempted but the truth is they can't buy Bitcoin so they are making their own. If people see Bitcoin as a scam or money of the criminals they in fact have some knowledge. They had to get this idea from somewhere and didn't do the research. Instead they were pumped full of lies by negative media and they believed it.

If this is an official statement then this could have got trended, but from the post I feel it to be an  statement revealed with data proof. Already with a big number of users it can make a big change over the entire cryptocurrency market. Possibly this will lead to a new level of adoption.

Great news. Maybe I should already register my FB account. Perhaps this will increase the number of new users from other countries. That will build a business on the platform.

That is nice to know but my daught still remains that Facebook will support cryptocurrency because uptil now Facebook have not supported cryptocurrency ad on their platform, and I believe Facebook creating they own coin can only be used on their platform and nor as a currency just like iTunes and the rest. It's a positive news about crypto-currency, since Facebook want to create their own coin. I believe they will try to create stable coin in order to use on their platform. But I am not sure how will it stable if listed multiple best exchange. Because people's will encourage to invest on FB coin then price might go up. It seems like they were inspired by the success of WeChat in China. If anyone didn't know you can buy literally everything in China via WeChat pay. Even if you buy pack of candies from a street seller.
You can only attach a Chinese bank card to that system and it is very hard to get one if you are not a Chinese resident. So the system was made mostly for Chinese. Also all this system requires a lot of verification steps so WeChat stores almost all your identity so big brother knows almost everything about you: social contacts, spendings etc. And you can switch to more private payment system.

Facebook also got a huge amount of users and can already offer them a payment system. Now with a new payment system  they will just get more of your private data. Nothing good for crypto community.

It is a welcome development. Infact, it will be a mass boost for Blockchain and Cryptocurrency in general. In no distance time many more entities will embrace Cryptos and blockchain the more.

That FB money supposed to flow insade a single payment system. But if it will be an open sourced crypto then someone will be able to create his own wallet and use it outside the app for example as a stablecoin for trading. I bet this is not what they want to make.

If Facebook starts using cryptocurrencies, of course it will have an extremely positive impact on the entire market. If at the same time access to the cryptocurrency starts to have several hundred million people around the world, then it is at least 500% more than it uses cryptocurrency so far. Adoption will make the huge step in the direction of the mainstream ... or even will be one leg in it.

Since i first heard of facebook coin, i did not find it really good and that has not changed to this day. But if even facebook jumps on the crypto train, i am probably right here.  :P

Why would an altcoin push the price of Bitcoin up? I don't think something like this has ever happened. It was always the opposite.
This FB shitcoin is aimed to be a competition not a way to popularize cryptocurrencies. If they chose to launch their own token instead of accepting one of the popular ones it means they want to control it.

No top firms will go completely on public sale, very small percentage will be allocated for public sale. The corporate minds were to make the rich grow richer. I don't think they are going to create any cryptocurrency. If they create any virtual currency that would be much like the XRP a centralized coin/token that fully controlled by the FB founder/team or a group of FB management. Simply they are going to accept a virtual point system instead of $$ in account balances. Those points can be exchanged with $$ at some fixed rate like 100 FB points/coins = 5 Cash (USD). Those guys are centralized freaks.

With this kind of approach, people from all walks of life will be familiarized in dealing with digital currency. Because most of the ordinary users have hard time understanding the crypto transactions. So with this fb coin, it might help in crypto adoption. And they won't have this negative connotation that crypto is a scam if they will know a lil bit more about digital currencies.

I doubt that this can be called a cryptocurrency, I am sure that Facebook will be able to track all payments and control our money)

I am pretty sure that Facebook is going to launch its own crypto currency, but I am also sure that this would not happen in 2019. Such a huge giant as Facebook can wait for several years to enter the growing market.

I really doubt if this story of Facebook is true irrespective of the means of publication provided it is not coming directly from the Facebook itself or project direct, I count it rumor till further notice.

So many times, Facebook has shown us it’s not a supporter of crypto currency through their action of banning lots of pages promoting crypto though its action was as a result of the fraudulent act going on in the crypto world with these ICOs, so they will rather not use their platform to promote it at all than be part of people leading innocent investors into ICO scam but if Facebook was really coming out with this idea, the coin will honestly go a long way and my rub shoulder with ethereum in the top list of coins.
