Title: What will happen after cryptocurrency
Post by: Paulinerims on September 19, 2019, 07:17:09 AM
Money changed its shape through the history. As from non-monetary exchange to the need of having money. Fast forward to our current banknotes which are in my opinion slowly dying with bitcoin taking over. Many discussions are being held if bitcoin can be the primary currency in the world. Let's assume it can be. Everything has an end so what do you think will come after bitcoin? What will money look like hundreds of years from now? I predict its gonna be digital of course but I'm interested if its going to be a cryptocurrency or something else.

We aren't even there yet. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still in their very early stages and we're already wondering what's coming next? Slow down. :P After bitcoin and cryptocurrencies becomes widely adopted, it will take time to replace cryptographic currencies. If anything, cryptocurrencies will most likely just be improved rather than replaced.

As days pass, the need keeps on growing. As a result we moved from stone age coins to traditional currency system. Further to cope with the growing population the traditional currency got integrated with electronic technology. This led to the growth of internet banking and other related services. Then on we've now got the technology backed cryptocurrency, hope there'll be advancement in the future.

I wouldn't look what's next about bitcoin until we haven't seen the world is taking advantage of its full potential. Adoption is imminent and we're far from seeing the whole world on it.

Everyone is still on the adjustment period but we'll see that day where everyone will start talking about bitcoin. We are going to the digital age and dollars might also be digitalized soon.

Many discussions are being held if bitcoin can be the primary currency in the world. Let's assume it can be.

lets be realistic instead of making assumption.
what bitcoin did was only to start a revolution. it literary changed the world. before bitcoin (pre-2008) people might have been able to only imagine currency being decentralized but after 2009 they didn't need to imagine it, the decentralized currency was a reality ever since.

i am really not interested in what might come along after a 100 years where i am no longer around! what i am interested in right now is this revolution and being a part of it.

It's hard to say things when you don't really know what will happen in the future. But let's assume. Let's assume that after bitcoin take over the world and became the primary currency, and you're asking what will come after bitcoin. If bitcoin would be replaced, then it's something more advance than bitcoin as you said hundred of years from now since technology that time would be really advanced and developed. I don't know... I'm probably dead before it even happens

Honestly, who can tell? We might just stop at cryptocurrencies. We might invent something even better. In the far future, we might not even need money. It can all get very sci-fi when you think about such things right now. Any guess that we could make right now is probably limited by the way we think in this day and age.

You're right, how can we possibly answer that if there are no assurance of the possible things that might happen. Bitcoin has faced a lot of problems and I don't think that it will end easily, it was able to give benefits and opportunities to us so if ever there is something new I still don't think it will change people's perspective. Well we have different thoughts about this and it depends on us if we are going to believe that kind of prediction.

You are thinking way ahead, crypto hasn't been adopted not even a single country yet. But since you ask I can give an idea which all that I can think of. In the future maybe a century later or two, few will be left after a war there will be scarcity of resources and we may not need money anymore since all are burglars and murderers. They won't think of BTC nor gold all they want is water and food.

As I believe, the "only permanent in this world is change" so there may not an end for Bitcoin but I am sure, the monetary system will continue to evolve.  This may also includes cryptocurrency being phased out by a different technology but it will be centuries before it happen.  As of now cryptocurrency is so young and had not reached its pinnacle of adoption and usage but once it did reached it, then the decline and a new monetary system will be introduced.

I don't know what's the point of such questions. Because it's impossible to tell what will happen in future and we can only predict. And as said above, cryptocurrency is still on very early stage of adoption and there is no point to talk about replacement for it. We're still not even in digital era - paper cash is still big thing and not replaced by digital money, I'm not even talking about crypto.

If bitcoin ever becomes the standard, then money will never go back to not being digital and money will never be under the control of the government again.

Same thing as information, once it went digital it is impossible for a government to try and control information, unless under extreme regimes (e.g. CN, NK).

If bitcoin becomes the standard, it will be very hard to replace it. But, it will only serve as a base layer, with our transactions being processed on layers 2+. The base layer will become exceptionally valuable, the block space extremely scarce, and fees will obviously reflect that.

Good thought for the future. I will prefer we cross the bridge once we get there as the journey is yet still very far and funny enough we just set out for a long walk. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still under development, after full adoption and working we can then know where the next world is headed, for now, it's difficult to tell.

Fiat currency will not necessarily be replaced by Crypto currencies, because the world are moving to a Cashless society, but within the domain and control of centralized entities and governments. We already have things like Debit cards and Credit cards and Tap2Pay <smart chip> technologies that are replacing Fiat currencies.

Crypto currencies will form a part of that disruption, but it will be "controlled" by governments and very wealthy corporations. The future payment methods would include things like "brain wave payments" or "verbal or voice recognition payments"   ;)

You are wrong.Paper money aren't dying and bitcoin isn't taking over.Paper money are still dominating the economy and will continue to dominate for decades.Bitcoin/blockchain is an exciting innovation, but nobody knows how it will grow and improve in the near future. Will the governments and central banks embrace it?Will they ban it?
Nobody can tell you what will replace fiat/digital or crypto money.

This is a deep question to discuss. To talk about the future, the only thing we can do is derive our imagination from the things of the past. And the world started without money. People lived in small communities, exchange goods directly. Then some goods were becoming intermediaries between other goods. Afterward gold and other metals became something one could give to receive goods. Then gold-backed money, then fiat money. Now we have cryptocurrencies, and although it's not clear whether they are going to replace fiat everywhere, in a way Bitcoin is already money, at least in some cases. The future depends on how humanity lives. If we make our planet barely inhabitable or destroy each other in the Nuclear War, then 500 years from now people would probably exchange goods for goods. If we continue technological progress and prosperity, we might have some financial system embedded into our bodies or we might be digital along with the money.

Money will likely be unnecessary in a super-advanced world : it will be a world where competition is eliminated., a world where everything we need in life exists, no more death, no suffering, no more filth, no pain. That world will come but it won't be the kind of world we expect.

Why should we so much bother about the event that will be in future, and talking of future, I am talking of thousands of years. Money has been in existence for a very long time now, and it is just now that we are beginning to see its weakness, when money was barely 10 years into its creation, I doubt if anyone then would have been able to predict what will happen to it.

I believe that cryptocurrency is gradually taking over the fiat has you said, because if you even see the way that most countries are beginning to implement cashless policy, which means that they want the means of paper money to really phase out, and cryptocurrency adoption will actually hasten this up, but we need more awareness to be done for the cryptocurrency to really be known worldwide.

each country has its culture, each country has its small group of greedy people who make up the government. Countries will accept that bitcoin is used as currency and these countries will create their digital currencies and will continue to use paper currencies. maybe 200 years from now each country will use electronic money and paper money will be out of use.

Why should we so much bother about the event that will be in future...

It's good to do past and present analyzes to get a sense of what the future will be like.  imagine if anyone had the power to see the future? this person would surely be the strongest in the world

What will money look like hundreds of years from now? I predict its gonna be digital of course but I'm interested if its going to be a cryptocurrency or something else.

Whatever it is, it's kind of, not making sense to think of what will be the status of our currency system "hundreds of years from now". Like you have mentioned, it should be digital so from there, just think of any possible improvement that might be applied.

About crypto, no one sees it coming. No one thinks that kind of currency will exist, thanks to its founder. Maybe someday, other geniuses out there will show something and surprised us. Who knows. But as for me, I believed paper money will still be here 100 years from now. Getting rid of it is impossible* to happen.

Anyways, we are just speculating and predicting here. Maybe don't bother with that for now and don't think of it too much.

Maybe super essential things like water, oxygen will be consider as money. But it's a far future. Even the full adoption of the cryptocurrency over the globe is not seems to be very easy or realistic from today's point of view. There are lots of hurdles needed to be cross, like 100% educated people,  24hr internet access all over the world.

As technology continues to evolve, most likely cryptocurrencies will evolve with it also. Assuming the connecrion of man directly to the computer and consequenlty the internet is successful, most likely some form of digital currency that can be assessed directly using the online network of connected minds would be the next thing. It'll have the features of cryprocurrency but will have the means if being accessed , and transferred using the network of the mind.

Let's leave the future for a second and address the current issue facing bitcoin. Unless there is unanimous agreement between the bitcoin communities and they properly find solution to its low transaction through-put, then bitcoin might struggle to function effectively as a true currency globally. We have other issues like high volatility and price instability. The probability of cryptocurrency taking over the world future monetary system is high, but not certain it will be BTC. Let not forget that cryptocurrency industry is still young and out of it, something different which is neither fiat nor crypto might evolve to be the next money.

the question is too early to be ask. right now we don't even know what would happen to bitcoin most answers will too be generic and would just based to cryptocurrency
because it is one of the newest type of payment/currency etc.. today. for all we know fiat would still exist in hundred of years co existing with cryptocurrency. if ever cryptocurrency
is to become the main currency I think they would just develop it further to make it practical for daily use.

I always believe that the only constant thing in this world is change so if not now I think it will be the future of cryptos.

I agree it would be digital currency in the future they would be paying everything through the internet.
I don't really think that crypto currency or Bitcoin,Etherum or any other big names of crypto would replace Fiat ,
But I think Fiat would adopt and be digital and be used like crypto we are already using cards to easily pay with Fiat so maybe in the future it would be more high tech.

I'm imagining what can happen after crypto. I remember the time where money has been invented and it took many years for it to be used world wide. In the ancient times, people are buying different things thru a note with trust that the note is worth X.

I don't really care what can replace crypto in the future because at that time, I'm not around anymore but maybe a technology far more helpful and more complex than cryptographic currencies will replace it. We are in the infancy stage already and we are considered early adopters. Lets just focus on improving the current market and not focusing on the future (like around 100-200 years :D).

People are learning even to invest with crypto. This age gives curiousity and more development, hoping that security will stronger.

In my opinion it will be cryptocurrency, with algorithms updated for quantum cryptography (yes there is such a thing). In addition, there will be tokens (physical) to represent the coins. Some business will do this for convenience to their customers, like casinos and arcade centers used to. It might be in the form of a card or "app" you can load "credits" with (ie. Satoshis).

This way you can buy it in advance, and use the lowest tx rate and at the venue be credited. Of course you could recharge your card/get more tokens is you wanted to...

Banknotes are far from dying if you are from one of those countries with top leading fiat, those people just don't know.

What do you think will happen? when we\re not even finish mining the remaining Bitcoins.
maybe after that, the result will show. If it still useful when people still want to use it as a mean of payment then
the ending is not close yet. we have some many enthusiasts who continue the will of Satoshi even though they
will get nothing in return they still work on how to get Cryptocurrencies as the main currency of the world
and that by making development that only blockchain technology can do.

Cryptocurrency never ended how ever the reason because many investor like for investing their money in crypto,
to some yes but what about the others ? some just simply dont like the fact that cryptos are too volatile and they find it too risky as an investment tool  . manipulations are also present on to this space so what if one day the manipulation will go in the next level , say they will dump it hard like a real bubble ? that will result for investors to leave but lets pray that wont ever happen because we are already benefitng from cryptos even in a smaller ways .

You cannot make bitcoin the currency for the world to use on a day to day basis for everyone but it can be used as an alternative and there will be no end to bitcoin until and unless there is a major flaw that is yet to be discovered. No everything will end and you do not need to be a genius to understand that digital and virtual forms will be the future  :P.

Cryptocurrency keeps growing and the community is welcoming this technology. Though some countries are banning crypto, they are just few than those who believe and think about the good benefits we could get from here. In fact, some big online companies are using this one which means that they are giving their support for crypto and that is a big factor that could attract more users in the near future.

I supposed to think for the betterness of crypto community rather than to think for its distraction and vanishing moment cause I don't believe that it will take into that way easily and I really don't think so unless things will get worse.

This is a really good question, but I'm afraid it's too far into the future to make an accurate enough prediction.
I'm sure that Bitcoin is just a catalyst for the next evolution within the bartering system, because I'm pretty sure the world would collapse without some form of money in place.
In the movie "Demolition Man" Tacobell wins the franchise wars and toilet paper is replaced with 3 sea shells, but money? Most likely money will be completely digital, a cashless future. Who really knows though, I don't write the scripts, I just do my best to follow them. I know physical cash will disappear, so most likely it will be a virtual alternative to crypto. If they ever create A.I and robotics that replicate everything humans can do, then I'm sure crypto will probably die, and be replaced with a basic universal monetary income based off merit, probably similar to China's merit system.

Just my opinion of course, I couldn't imagine a world without currency, it would be terrible. I mean we live in a "material world".   ;)

A digital currency will still be the form of money that we will have in the future for sure. It might still be cryptocurrency but a much more improved one. I am imagining a cryptocurrency that can process millions of transactions per second and can process them in an instant. I guess that is going to happens several decades later though. That would be the world of our children and our children's children. But still the footprints of Satoshi's Bitcoin will still be in there.

Oh an interesting question. I also thought about this. What is called money is essentially a convention of trading. But evolution never reuses and makes exchanges and transactions easier and more convenient. I don't know what it will be, but certainly countries will not use cash in the future.

paper money will still used, and make bitcoin as world money need more research not only in crypto it self.

cryptocurrencies, it could change the whole world. We will live in an online currency world. No one will ever use paper money anymore. All parameters executed within a few seconds, without waiting for the payment to be confirmed immediately.

There are still those instances that we are still waiting for our transactions to be confirmed.

Cryptocurrency is here for years now and nothing changes.

The only technology related to cryptocurrency that will be beneficial in the future will be the Blockchain technology. Even if cryptocurrency dies, I don't think this technology will be dead as well, it will live.

We are still new on the internet, and we even not yet to see cryptocurrency has been implemented in many countries. We need more time to see cryptocurrency growth more than now. We don't have any clue about the future, and we don't know yet. Cryptocurrency itself still younger and will need a long time to reach all people in the world. But we know that the new technology will always be invented and I think that cryptocurrency will start to bigger in the future. Maybe we will see some new thing inside the cryptocurrency. If that happens, then it will change the view of people in look about cryptocurrency.

I predict its gonna be digital of course but I'm interested if its going to be a cryptocurrency or something else.
Firstly, we have to agree on against bitcoin itself, is bitcoin deserve to be use as a currency or it is suitable for an investment place and we can equalize it with gold. For my perspective bitcoin is suitable to be use as an investment place or I can say it as gold in form of digital. Because with the value of bitcoin is really high and the payment proccess are very slow so I included bitcoin as an investment.

More than that with the regulation from the government it will make bitcoin get into trouble when we used it as a payment system or replace the function of currency. So, I can't imagine it although I'm the user of bitcoin and even I don't have any interest to make bitcoin as payment system. Bitcoin will be bitcoin at the longest and there is no new coin who can be able tp replace it.

Nope nothing will change from cryptocurrency because computer generation is the last this world can have so the crypto coin is the most appropriate to use than fiat

In its current form, cryptocurrency is still too imperfect to replace traditional payment systems. A single currency, digital or any other, is possible only when all states are united in a single union or a single state. So far in the history of mankind we do not know a period without wars and constant hostility. If we can unite and tackle common problems, and not kill each other, only then we can think about common digital money. In the meantime, this is only a dream of romantics.
They predict that soon we will begin to have problems with the climate, supplies of water, food and so on. If this comes true, then humanity can even forget about cryptocurrency again.

It is difficult to say what will happen in the future. While cryptocurrencies are still banned in some countries for now and it's not really popular among people, the importance but the influence of bitcoin is undeniable. The technology is currently very rapidly developing, most likely cryptocurrencies will evolve along with it, even Facebook will create their own cryptocurrency. In my opinion, paper money will continue to be used in the future and will not be replaced while electronic money will be more widely available, trusted by people and used more in the future.

Everything will seem to be unclear...not much sure that crypto will globally be accepted or just replaced by another one.
Crypto adoption and its journey is too far from its ends(IMO), for its 10 years from existence it is not enough to say that we are in the final stage of development. I have to think that we aren't far from the starting point and yet to think how much longer we've been reaching into its limit.

The answer to this question is still in the mind speculations. We really don't know what next and next.

i think in the future fiat money and cryptocurrency will develop in terms of its use. but I do not think that in the future fiat money will be replaced by digital currency because after all every means of payment requires physical form for all transactions. so I don't think fiat money will disappear, fiat money might develop even if it's just for use. and also Bitcoin is definitely developing, maybe in everything (my hope) ;D
Most countries will end up making their very own cryptocurrencies just like what the Venezuelan government did but am sure that they will let it run alongside their FIAT but one thing that I doubt is going to happen is if and whether they are going to make their cryptos decentralized as Bitcoins does.

I think physical money will transform into digital money because we have the technology which still develops and growth. But unfortunately, digital money is not created by the government, and that will have much contradiction from the governments. Bitcoin has a chance to be the digital money in online and offline life, but if the government does not approve the existence of cryptocurrency, then it will go to the dream only. But we already see that some merchant has accepted cryptocurrency and they use bitcoin as the new option of the payment method.

The whole point of Bitcoin is the permissionless aspect...Use of bitcoin does not require government permission....

Sure banking cartels who largely own all world government are attempting to undermine Bitcoin at many levels...

The bank cartels can only create so much fiat currency before it becomes worthless.

The problem for banksters is bitcoin turns each individual into his own Swiss bank.

Governments may try to take over bitcoin mining, but it is more likely we will see Elon Musk launch some private crypto mining space stations.

Cryptocurrency naturally is meant to be an alternative as designed by the great satoshi and this is how it will remain even with very high adoption rate. This will be the major two system that will be recognized worldwide. The cryptocurrency will be for those group of people that are educated and the technologically inclined while the fiat will remain that old system of making payment manually by those who would find it very difficult to make use o cryptocurrency for their payments.

Merchants will definitely have two payment options, one will be cash while the other will be Cryptocurrency and it is left for the user to go for the one that is next comfortable for him to her, but then, only bitcoin will be recognized because I don't really see the government supporting any other cryptocurrency other than this one.

Fiat will still remain as I think, fiat will still be valuable. For the case that cryptocurrencies are only applicable to online transactions, it is no doubt that a lot of people will still be using fiat. Of course, we don't have a real crypto coin, they are all in a digital form not unless if all establishments will run into this but I know they don't.
I only just thinking that crypto will lead to all online transactions, that would be enough and to be considered (fully) as a currency is a big achievement for crypto.

Just think of the evolution. From stone age, we had coins that got changed to metal coins. Later as the development kept progressive we got our paper currency. The same later got its digital version. Beyond this wallets came into existence which made everything much easier. Even after such a long transformation there were some unfulfilled features. This was fulfilled by the existence of cryptocurrency. Next to cryptocurrency the discussions were based on the quantum computing. Only the time can get us the answer for this.

Cryptocurrencies aren't taking over "banknotes", they are becoming more and more popular, but to claim that fiat is dying down due to the emergence of bitcoin is making an absolute mistake.

We can not predict what will happen in the next decade or century, the direction money or means of payment will take is not known to anyone and any statement on it is just speculations, but there is every tendency for digital forms to be more appreciated and used then, as its growth even at the moment looks unstoppable and not in doubt.

That's a really bold assumption, cause I don't see any signs of Bitcoin taking over anything - I've joined this community more than 3 years ago, and I feel like global adoption barely changed. Back then people were discussing how soon Bitcoin will replace fiat, and here we are in 2019, when Bitcoin is still mostly used for speculation. To start asking what will be after Bitcoin, Bitcoin needs to become big first,  otherwise this question isn't really relevant.

World is entering into a new era of economics

Till date, as we know, we are using centralized currencies to make business locally. But Bitcoin has opened the door for the decentralized economy, with its power of peer to peer network.

Revolution is always been skeptical but the implementation of it can bring more features for businesses as well as services.

Bitcoin already has proved its importance, existence, and value globally.

Now still world it in the testing phase with possibilities and their outcome by implementing decentralized platforms for better governance, transparency, and scalability.

In future definitely cryptocurrencies will be the mainstream of exchange good and services.

If Bitcoin can replace the paper currency, I think we are already a very remarkable era of digital technology. It is not easy to understand the crypto work system and of course, requires intelligent thoughts.

We can dream that when Bitcoin can become a digital currency that has a tremendous impact on technological developments.  But all need a lengthy process and if Bitcoin replaces the currency in every country, I think it will be hard to happen.

I take the example of Bitcoin development in my country. Until now Bitcoin is not permitted, the government still conducts the review. The government also prohibits Bitcoin from being used as a payment medium.

Unless something can be invented to take over bitcoin, then cryptocurrency is just going to develop and will co-exist with fiat. And also, it depends on the government if they are going to impose threats to the users just to stop cryptocurrency and I don't think that is going to happen. Though right now, the adoption of cryptocurrency is still on it's way.

I think digital money or electric money will come after bitcoin. I mean, our society become more cashless year by year and i'm sure someday we will not use paper or coin money again. All will be electronic, maybe a big country like usa or japan or south korea will start this first and other countries will follow.

Also cryptocurrency will go along with that.

sooner or later we have to accept that the government will try to control digital money,
since they have the power to control everything, maybe for now we can still enjoy having digital asset without taxes
but maybe in the near future weather we like it or not they still have the last say about everything because they know the laws,
and if they want they will create one its just a matter of time, im not being negative but i think its going there,
but in the near future we will be using just using maybe our fingerprints or just a nano chips to pay bills and buy foods
there will be an easy access to everything because we are then using crypto currency, and ill be happy if i can make it
in those time, do you agree with me? imagine using crypto currency everywhere its hassle free am i correct?

So I think let's just enjoy it first, that the bitcoin will become our mode of exchange.

It could go either way though. If we all could just get our acts together, then it's likely that we'll have a digital future and crypto would probably kickstart a trend that would familiarize majority of the people to veer away from paper money. But it could also end up quite differently if current leaders and those succeeding them would focus on childish agendas instead of pushing technology forward.

We cannot prevent others from expressing their views on digital currency such as bitcoin. But all their opinions remain speculative. No one knows what will happen in the future but let's look forward to the outcome in the cryptocurrency world. and most importantly helping people when it comes to financial issues.

Precisely. consider those people who are not willing to take chances to this innovations, they are still many of them who still use the old fiat system and no chance to change it up to this digital/crypto currency. It will take many more years before it will take place and many generations to learn how this system can help the financial institutions and being realized.

Obstacles as part of the test of this system once being resolves everything will bring to success.

In fact, I assume that cryptocurrency will be much better going forward, there are likely to be many new concepts that will be displayed from large companies to use cryptocurrency and use technologies that have been there early, so I can conclude that there will be many who play a role for move it forward ...
The current condition is stay in 8.1k USD so many development is holding the Bitcoin. Nowadays number of companies are accepting the Bitcoin and many Japanese companies are pay the cryptocurrency. But most are follow the USD valuation, Because it will fluctuate anytime so they are all fix USD value. May be upcoming updates are stop the Banking industry so we never guess the further moment.

Back in the days where the medium of exchange was through the barter system, it slowly evolved until countries decided to have a universal currency and its value is determined by the number of gold reserve the country respectively has.

Currently, cryptocurrency is being used as an alternative payment to some products/services to merchants. But people are misunderstanding the hidden potential of cryptocurrency- which is the blockchain itself. The system of fiat may still remain the same but what makes it different is the adoption of the blockchain into our daily transactions.

Change is inevitable. We can never predict the future of the next forms of money. Bitcoin is still beyond the beginning, there might be upgrades and some changes on its mechanism but I assume that it will take a very long time for it to be replace by a new platform. We are really seeing a revolutionary phase of money form right now.

People argue that the next phase of money would be towards the e-cash system (which cryptocurrencies are the medium used). But this would take a significantly amount of time until it becomes implemented due to the economic discrepancies among countries of different financial state.

E-cash system?  It is more interesting to discuss in the future if the system makes cryptocurrency as the medium used.
If bitcoin is adopted as a global currency in all countries then it is very impossible for now.  Many countries prohibit it because it will disrupt the financial stability of the country and the world. This will be difficult to implement because the value is very volatile

Changing times to technology it allows all digital goods or digital service using crypto as their  payment systems and its possibly change old traditional payment system tobe like that. and I think that will be a new way for a crypto currency to be used as a digital payment tool globally and for anyone.

For me, yes the history of money is changing, and if you want to fast forward the time to know what will happen to bitcoin, it thinks most government sectors will create their own cryptocurrency, and some 3rd world countries are still using fiat money. Cryptocurrencies potential and legality is still meager if you compared it to the real money, but seeing the legalization of cryptocurrency, I have to say that digital money in the future has a considerable percentage. But using bitcoin as the primary currency, I think it would never happen. :)

Will there actually be a 'after cryptocurrency' moment? That should be the main question. Firstly, It would take quite a couple of years before we can be able to achieve a cashless society, that is if that at all can be achieved. So maybe not everything has an end? Just maybe. I don't see the possibility of an after crypto, unless the system crashes, and that is one event I would like to think can never happen.

After hundreds of years, the meteorite will destroy the Earth heh heh  ;D. But if you think about it, then I think that everything will return to the old days and that minerals that are depleted every day will have real value. And as a transfer of value, a digital currency based on the blockchain is suitable, in my opinion nothing better can be created. You can only improve it.

How crypto currency is gonna function is space age? It will be easy to keep lots of data, but network communication in big distances is very slow. What about double spending then and confirmations. Guess we'll be back to good old dollars or some equivalent :D

If there is something that will occur after the bitcoin, I think it's just only an altcoins. I think bitcoin is not slowly dying but rather its knowledge are being spread and now there are many people who are currently using cryptocurrency. So, I think after many years bitcoin will be widely accepted and will not be banned in other country.

Changing or evolving of money to cryptocurrency will take a decade or even more than that. We can't still call it that we're almost there to that era where we can finally use digital money when having a transaction anywhere.
Technology will need to evolve together with the cryptocurrency to make it possible. It seems impossible for not but we cant say it for now, we cant expect the possible movement of bitcoin in the future.

Bitcoin hasn't taken over the physical money yet. It has a lot to go through so we can't assume that cryptocurrency could replace fiat and that there will be another currency to replace it in the future. Lots of countries still don't recognize the cryptocurrency. People still don't have enough knowledge about cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is still in the process of acceptance and still needs lots of adoption.

It won't ever happen either. Cryptocurrency will not be having value if it is not convertible to fiat currency or can be considered equal to a valuable thing. It would be so hard to determine its price if bitcoin will ever replace fiat, what will be our basement for its value, how will it become valuable if we can't determine its value. Fiat is important, it can adapt to become a new type of money where we can use in any type of transaction together with cryptocurrency.
And what is the importance of fiat currency in the 21st century. I did not understand the logic of thinking at all. Fiat currency is a thing of the past. The future will definitely be with the cryptocurrency. Now you need to invest in cryptocurrency assets when such prices are so low.

Most likely what happens 100 years from now the world will be increasingly sophisticated technological advances, which are already ancient
use of fiat currency. It seems that the world has implemented a digital payment system, cryptocurrency will be used as a legal payment
instrument. Governments around the world have made regulations regarding usage cryptocurrency as a legal payment tool, and fiat is
no longer used. Every single thing becomes digital with super technology, maybe in the future there will be more sophisticated technology
than blockchain. We'll see what happens, maybe our thinking power has not been able to achieve it. in my opinion the most important thing
right now is not the past or the future, do the best for our lives now.

We cannot say anything in advance, the value of cryptocurrencies after hundreds of years will probably be raised to new heights. I think with the outstanding potential that blockchain technology brings, the future will be a global payment paradise, widely used all over the world, becoming a common means of payment for all countries.

Still a long way to go, so for now while we still have the chance to earn for a living and to accumulate, let's not take it for granted and let us use our earnings wisely.

I believe there's a better system to be invented at the time centuries ahead of us. When digital currency is almost fully adopted by all, transactions are held online, limitations are gone and fiat is non-present, where smart devices are a neccessity instead of luxury. Those times are far ahead but I believe there will be something far better from bitcoin, surpassing bitcoin's current limitations, from transaction speed to security.

I think we can not guess and predict the future of what will be like? for now only bitcoin adoption has not been evenly distributed throughout the world. and there are still many people who don't understand bitcoin and cryptocurrency. so to adopt bitcoin as a payment tool worldwide still requires quite a long time maybe 5 to 10 years. so I can't think of what money will circulate after cryptocurrency. instead of thinking about this we better think of how to improve our cryptocurrency.

I probably say its government virtual money if cryptocurrencies movement is still the same as now. we know government are making their steps to control btc and crypto but it wouldn't happen so they will surely make their own virtual currency in the time has come. but it is "WHAT IF" it will happen? I am not sure cryptocurrency in that time is still profitable.

Correct, bitcoin is an alternative payment option so far and it hasn't reached high enough heights to be able to take over the previous payment options like fiat currencies.

It'll all depend on how many people actually like using BTC for their day to day transactions, if the public isn't supporting moving over the crypto-currencies, we'll never see that happen and it'll just spell drama for us.

Right now making any assumption about a new form of currency doesn't make much sense. I doubt many could have predicted blockchain and cryptos. Moreover, cryptocurrencies are in there initial phase. They are not even mainstream yet and talking about currency after it is baseless as of now. But yes, when supercomputers become a reality, we will need a better replacement to crytocurrency.

Yes, maybe crypto will be at its best in the future with extensive utilities. At that time, I was sure the majority of the world community had used Cryptocurrency. If we like a lot of people to use crypto, that means we like a massive adoption, and I think its possible only if the government will regulate crypto with a crypto friendly law. People then will start using it as they know it's regulated and they are not at any risk, although the volatility will still remain but if there's a 3rd party that will help remove it, things will be better, for example, the LN, this one is just a solution for massive adoption but it will not push through aggressively if the government is also not aggressive in regulating the market.

I don't think Bitcoin will be main currency, maybe as alternate currency is right.
The digital payment will dominate and banknotes will useless. We maybe will pay service and goods with digital number from our phone. But the problem maybe the hacker will keep attacking the digital payment. So Bitcoin will be solution because it is decentralized, hard hacker can manipulate it.

Cryptocurrency hasn't become mainstream yet OP wanna replace crypto already, how negative is that.
Cryptocurrency and blockchain had been working perfectly well to solve many cases that our current system isn't. Why will this blockchain system be replaced when this is better except for the regulations. We have't tried this path yet until we see there is no need for new system, I guess blockchian is the best existing solution that will only be improved.

New coin or maybe new features of cryptocurrencies in the future. We are still not yet in that phase so maybe let's just stop assuming something new. LOL. But the better version is good I know.

100 years from now? that's an insane imagination we need to give opinion about that, but let's get wild here. When that happens (cryptocurrency ended) my bet would be, our technology will be super advance compare to what we have now, we're going to feel like we're living back in the stone age looking for that 100 years from now. We might even use built in chip that contains the dedicated money we will spent in our entire life, like those sci-fi movies we watch.

and that's pretty scary for me, because what if you are a person who spend his money on random things that you only wanted, you'll starve to death by that.

Yes it too much to assume what will happen in the future when our present is currently tangled between the fluctuations and volatile market. I belive there might be two set of crypto currencies one for investment purpose and the other one will be stable version of it will be used to quick transaction and storage, etc. Bitcoin was a mode of peer to peer transactions and off late it has become like a risk investment wherein it's now primarily used as investment purpose and secondary for transfer of money.

I think the currency after bitcoin is going to be digital also. When you are talking about the next 100 years there are lots of possibilities. Bitcoin was originally created as a digital store of value, it will stay like that in the next 100 years. Surely, another form of money will popup but we don't know which one yet perhaps in the future.

It is really hard to make guesses about it. Maybe cryptocurrencies will reign for hundreds of years. So, the technology will evolve into a completely different thing too of course. I wish I could see that times too. :D

It can't be sure to see crypto existence for a hundred years, it probably we are dead already... ;D
But we're not supposed to think this technology will dissolve pretty easy. Of course, it seems to be valuable today and it is probably more as the majority of the business groups will adopt the system as well as accepting it as a mode of payment.

No more any currency after cryptocurrency unless if we are going back to the stone age. cryptocurrency is a perfect currency because it is peer-to-peer, digital currency, super-fast, lower transaction fees, and yet fully decentralized. Tell me what more do you like better than this, huh?

If cryptocurrencies will be gone, I do not think people can get over it. Honestly speaking, cryptocurrency becomes part of our lives and investment; it is proven that it helps a lot of people. Losing it will be hard indeed.

I think the future financial condition of the world will start using a new digital currency so I am sure that from the existence of technologies such as the blockchain that can produce cryptocurrency and be developed there will be a lot of new digital currencies created by combining it with various kinds of digital currency technologies.

I see no signs that with the advent of bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, in general, paper money shows any signs of its disappearance. In my opinion, cryptocurrency will not revolutionize financial relations, as many assume. Of course, the influence of cryptocurrency, especially with the growing interest in it of ordinary users, is huge. However, cryptocurrency will occupy only its niche among other means of payment and will go along with the national money of states. There are many prospects for its use when combined with other types of means of payment, however, bitcoin or other cryptocurrency will not be able to replace the traditional payment systems or become dominant among them.

I like this statement. Existing development is a manifestation of human needs that always develop each time. At the moment cryptocurrency, especially bitcoin, is more effective than fiat in certain aspects, for example in its use which is not limited in space and time, the only problem is legality.
In my opinion, before there are other innovations that are better than cryptocurrency, the world will be more receptive to cryptocurrency, so that slowly will begin to present new coins or tokens that can be controlled by the government.

Digital currency can't replace cash in terms of a direct transaction, no delay, no need to wait for confirmation, even if compared to any cryptocurrency, there is none that can be instant payment such as cash. It's a long way, can't imagine even in another century for digital currency to completely replace cash.

Cryptocurrency is the innovated money of this era. Knowing that it is digital and not fiat. It is stored in your desired application in which we are using to store our money. Instead of holding much money physically we are using cryptocurrency as a visible entity only. And in terms of payment method it is convenient to use because it is safe and faster transaction in every business purposes or any other purposes. I am looking forward to our future using cryptocurrency as our worldwide and using as one currency. Cryptocurrency is not dying, they can only say that because they can see the value in the market that it is falling down but for me it is normal since cryptocurrency is volatile in terms of price, meaning it is changing time by time when there is transaction happened, when some one sells token or buy tokens the price is changing.

We cannot say anything in advance, the value of cryptocurrencies after hundreds of years will probably be raised to new heights. I think with the outstanding potential that blockchain technology brings, the future will be a global payment paradise, widely used all over the world, becoming a common means of payment for all countries.

We are still at early stage so there are still lots of things that could happen, we might know, apart from cryptocurrency there is still good way that they are developing. Still a long way to go, so for now while we still have the chance to earn for a living and to accumulate, let's not take it for granted and let us use our earnings wisely.
Depend of value how with bitcoin and altcoin price to know how the future with crypto market, if bitcoin still lower price just waiting when bitcoin and altcoin gone as currencies and investment way, today bitcoin looks down and we worry will next year still have bitcoin as transaction and investment?

I think the currency after bitcoin is going to be digital also. When you are talking about the next 100 years there are lots of possibilities. Bitcoin was originally created as a digital store of value, it will stay like that in the next 100 years. Surely, another form of money will popup but we don't know which one yet perhaps in the future.

Governments and Banks are fans of digitized transactions but they want them to happen in their own currencies
I think that the trend is going to be a digital cash based on the current fiat ecosystem.
Citizens will always be in favor of decentralized currencies such as bitcoin and bitcoin may gain popularity in the future but it wont be the main currency of people.

To be honest, it’s hard to imagine what the next type of payment means will evolve into, before it was just goods(barter), then pieces of paper(banknotes), then credit cards, now it can be cryptocurrency ... What will happen next, maybe people will be tired of counting the value of their lives in numbers and pieces of paper and they will begin to count their time and pay them, as in the film "In Time".  :)

What will happen after cryptocurrencies? Who knows that and who can tell how long will they last so when this " after" will come. To my opinion cryptocurrencies could only be replaced by more advantced technology but I don't think this is going to happen any time soon. Cryptocurrencies are actually only at the begininig and they still have a long way to grow and develope.

You are right, no one predict the future innovation and creativity of Blockchain technology. I hope upcoming innovations are attract the peoples so we expect more security settings in most of the projects.

Yes actually, we didn't even know that there is something technology like cryptocurrency before, we are not aware of it, we don't know that it is possible. During the first time I heard about digital coin or digital money, I can't really believe in it but due to the fact that my friend told me that it was a great opportunity to earn, then I grabbed this opportunity and was very amaze that there is no impossible now.

As days pass, the need keeps on growing. As a result we moved from stone age coins to traditional currency system. Further to cope with the growing population the traditional currency got integrated with electronic technology. This led to the growth of internet banking and other related services. Then on we've now got the technology backed cryptocurrency, hope there'll be advancement in the future.
in a future, we back again to something that cant destroy. this thing will be valuable than other technology currency, you can change the shape but it have same value.
we never know about the future, but i hope it will be the best currency that can make people arround the world feel same

We are not in the technology world yet, I think when the world is all automatic, I am sure that every country will have its own crypto currency in the future, And this will replace bitcoin.

Because people in the future are early adopters of technology and it is starting now, where young people are more interested in mobile phones, pcs, and more and less likely they will have cryptocurrency awareness. For sure when they get older they will bring this knowledge to pass on to their children.

I don't think he's worried at all. Just curious as to what your thoughts are about it. I don't think many of here are heavily realiant on crypto to be alarmed or worried about it's future. If things continue the way they are right now, then i think we'll see crypto well into people's daily lives. Adoption could be well on its way in a few years. It comes with technology. And this younger generation is open to technological advancements such as bitcoin and crypto.

as long as bitcoin is still not used legally, no one can speculate further, because there is no official trust.

change always faces the first sentiment where the majority will always move back with gold first, but there will be many gaps and clear minds to advance towards technology, and will slowly reopen. I'm not sure that crypto will be an option as long as a centralized system is still circulating.

For me, it is still a long way for cryptocurrency the fiat money that is implemented is still reliable in a lot of ways maybe after 10 years cryptocurrency could be implemented too.
Fiat money is still the best way and most convenient way to use in buying things and also in a physical store most of them do not even accept cryptocurrency as a payment and even bitcoin their are only a few stores that accept this kind of payment method because it is not yet implemented and also not yet regulated I'm not sure if we could use the bitcoin as the main currency because the market value of it was so volatile and when you use it as a money it is difficult to check the market value, it is a hindrance if you lose money in a small time without even doing anything.

I can't think any for now. I guess its crypto forever the digital money. Well, there were always be a constant change and evolution of everything. I think digital crypto age is a long run and it will take more decades to create something beyond it. Its not yet widely use now and it may still take a decade for everyone to legally use it worldwide.

Lack of market adoption is still evident. Though we are in 10 years of existence and we can't deny that crypto isn't totally matured enough. Awareness is always there but some of us just ignore it. We may think that crypto needs another 10 years( maybe) before we achieve such a goal and crypto will consider as a currency that the majority will use.

I think it's a kind of money that you can hold with your own hands, because digital money, or electronic money, is virtual money, so people are not confident enough to store the entire amount of money. in a wallet they can be stolen away from hackers, so I think it will be a cash hold on hand, and never be inflated

The world are starting to know the characteristics of bitcoin and the using of this currency increasing highly .So it has bright future in the next coming years .I think the using of btc has just got the momentum there is nothing to change in the coming era so just tough to me to predict about the changing if it is bitcoin or something others.

In essence, money will remain anonymous and convenient. What is the next currency? This is a pretty good question. Currently the money we are using is the most common banknote. Until the emergence of smart devices appeared smart payment via QR codes, ATM cards ... it was a new form of payment from the development of science and technology. But if in the future, society is no longer stable and world war breaks out or the earth is invaded, the internet is blocked. Can people still exchange money through smart devices? Maybe we use banknotes, or gold or anything that can be exchanged as our ancestors. It must be something of tangible value, not intangible value like Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

In my opinion the total end of the crypto currency and Bitcoin will not come very soon. The digital way of payments even in national money have not replaced cash yet. Not every person of the planet uses the contactless payment method. So the percentage of people that did not even try to do at least something with crypto is even more higher. So I think before something new will be created too many years will pass. What this something new may be?.. it is hard to say now. May be we will pay with the help of our thoughts till that time))))))) will see)))
