Title: Application to be a Merit source for Bengali Thread
Post by: BitCoinDream on September 20, 2020, 01:14:22 PM
I am running Bengali Thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) since 6 years now. Thanks to some great contributors in the thread, it has lately turned into a great place to discuss All things Crypto in Bengali. Me, with a few others, are consistently rewarding contributors in the thread with whatever merit we have. But, now, I believe, it is coming short. Hence, I am, hereby applying to become the merit source for Bengali Thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0).

Below, I have listed 12 posts from last 4 months that deserve merit (or more merit) in my honest opinion...

Quote
Quote
Quote
Quote

(Although Facebook’s Libra Could be a Real Game Changer)

Sorry for the long post.Ar ami ki ai forum e Banglish likte parbo Ami Bangla likhte onek problem face kori.

Apart from these listed above, there are also 5 posts, which, I think, are helpful for every new member in Bengali Thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0), have also been linked from OP. All these posts, I believe, deserve more merit...

I was about to apply for merit source. You did before me. I wish theymos accept the application. I'm supporting your application.
It's true that our thread is lacking of enough merits to be distributed. Most importantly, we have few people with enough smerit available. Whenever, I get merits, my first plan goes toward distributing in my local thread aalthough if I notice good quality in global, I distribute too.
By the way, I wish you will be more available once you become a merit source.
Good luck.

Edit- Going through each posts and will merit 1 per post (excluding mine  :D
Edit- Sent all of them.

BitCoinDream thanks a million for your great initiatives. I hope ,theymos will take a into this as we are really in need of a merit source and wish he will accept your application.

Also thanks a lot Royse777 for your great support. I'll try my best to distribute my sMerits with the best contributors in our local thread as well as other sections.

Besides, i also thanks to all those members who support our local board. Love you 3000.  :D

Below, I have listed 12 posts
I (quickly) checked all of them using Google Translate, and they look good enough to unload some of my source sMerits on.

Good luck with your application, it's been a while since theymos added new sources.

Thanks Bitcoindream for your merit source application. I also think that we need one for our local Thread. I believe there are many good quality post and some talented person who deserves to rank up and get merit. But don't have too many high ranked members who can give use merits. I try to give merits in our local board but as a full member I'm limited to this. I hope Theymos accept your application. Good luck.

Thanks Royse777 and LoyceV for your merit rain. Got 9 smerits now. Thank you so much. Have a good day.

Good luck with your application @BitCoinDream, hopefully you will be among those chosen as new merit source once theymos decides to add more. More merit available in your thread will mean more people trying to be more active and writing better posts, and forum can only benefit from that.

As I wrote in that other post about Bengali thread statistic, don't forget to share good posts in [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5093271.0) since you never know when and if theymos accepts your application. It's probably not a long term solution but can certainly help.

Thanks Bitcoindream for this initiative which helps us a lot for gaining some merits which are needed to rank up shortly for those who really deserve it. Luckily I am one of them. Thanks for selecting me and already got 11 merits till now and still counting more.

Special thanks to Royse777 and Loycev for their great support to us. Now I will try to produce more quality posts.

Compared to other local languages board Bangladeshi thread is the most active one. It was unknown to me that we have a local thread for Bangla language at this forum. And I just learned about it few months back.

A lot of people heard about cryptocurrency in our locality and many of them are here to get more information. I have noticed that new users are getting informed about valuable things at local Bangladeshi thread. Few users writing important content there and they deserve merits. But as BitCoinDream (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=181001) said we have no merit source user in that thread. By watching this (Bengali Thread Merit Statistics (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5258041.msg54682185#msg54682185)) stats I think there should be a merit source in Bangladeshi thread.

I hope theymos will consider to make BitCoinDream (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=181001) a merit source for the thread. Thanks.

Supporting your application. I believe there should be someone from an active merit source. Since the local language isn't readable by others, so someone deserves from the same language. Although there is no Bangladeshi board, but theymos would choose you since you are managing the local thread.

Besides that, I will suggest you become quite more active, because before add you to a merit source they would check your current activity. And most likely he will not choose someone from inactive users (inactivity noticed from posting gap).

I am willing to send few merits on your listed posts, but unfortunately, my smerits are not yet filled fully. I will keep in mind this thread and will send some merits to them.

Great initiative. You have all of my support. It was needed long ago though. Very few people cab rank up from our local because of lack of sufficient merit supply. Not everyone can write in English. If we get a merit source, people active in the local thread will get benefit. Go ahead with your dream, BitcoinDream.

Besides that, I will suggest you become quite more active, because before add you to a merit source they would check your current activity. And most likely he will not choose someone from inactive users (inactivity noticed from posting gap).
He visits the thread once or twice in a month for deleting the spam but with greater responsibility like being a merit source, he must have to be little bit more active and I think he will as he is maintaining the thread.

I looked at the posts in the OP and I noticed two things:
1 - You cited many posts from Review Master. If you do become a merit source, I would encourage you to spend your merit to a diverse group of people, while still spending near your maximum amount of merit.
2 - Many of those who you cited seem to make fairly good posts, but they all seem to have fairly low amounts of merit. This could be an indication that some of the local threads that are not large enough for detected subs are lacking source merit.

It will all depend on admin if he thinks (theymos) to add more merit source. For now the participation of the bounty hunters as been discuss in the other thread by @Jetcash stating that the forum acivity had decreased. Other user still think of a vast of shitpost still observed in the major boards.
In my opinion with regards to adding a merit source will be a good move to increase the number of activity of the forum giving considerations to newbie old users and other low ranks to rank up. The consideration will be base on users number of activity to rank up even without gaining merits. This is just my opinion and should not be taken seriously for I am just expressing myself here.

It's because there are few good quality posters in our local thread and among them Review Master is the most active most of the times. So, it makes sense why he has quoted many of Review Master's posts. Also, it seems he shares merit whenever he sees a good post regardless of who have posted this.

Yeah true. We have very few people who shares merit in our local, the reason is they don't have smerit to share. Foe example, I have zero smerit at the moment.

Having sufficient source merit in local communities should be important. Without sufficient source merit, members will not rank up, which may lead people to not being as engaged, and not as active in their bitcointalk communities.

It is not a big deal if some people receivea litlle bit of merit they should not receive, but it is a problem if people are not receiving merit they deserve. If people receive merit errouniously, others will see their poor quality posts and will still be subject to bans if they violate the rules, but OTOH, if someone does not receive merit, they may become frustrated about not ranking up and not be as active as they may otherwise be.

Exactly the truth has been spoken and those are the reflection of my thoughts also. By the way, the scenario that you explained was made me frustrated almost two years ago. There were some reasons though. It was also one of them. But recently, I have got some merits which I deserved I believe. It's very inspiring for me to do better for the next or coming near future. To grow the community, the local thread can help a lot of community-based people in a different area and it will also be helpful for the newcomers too to know well.

Absolutely, even in the main board the same thing happens that is why we can see decrease in the activity all over the forum, some people doesn't really receive what they deserve to be.There is no point of holding sMerits so people should be so generous while sending merits when they see a post which is worthy to be read by other members.

Bumping the thread to get attention from the admin theymos. Can we get an update as our local thread is in badly need of a merit source? The number of quality posts are increasing in significant number. With more merits there, I think we can get a spam free thread.

I am supporting your application to be a Merit source. But you have bad sides too. You are too inactive in the forum. As one of the Legendary Member of Bangladeshi Community, we need you active in the community. But you are very hard to find. At the time of writing. I see you were active 12 November 2020 last. 2 weeks ago! I am continuously reporting previous low quality posts. But they hardly get deleted. I expect you will be active again leaving all obstacles.

https://i.ibb.co/yVm4kwW/Untitled.jpg (https://ibb.co/KmcKsMF)

Nowadays, Bangladeshi forum has quality posts. They deserve Merits. So, Bangladeshi Community needs a Merit Source badly. I wish your application will be successful.

His last activity date was only a few days ago, and the last post I can see made by him was from April (though I can't see posts in the Bangladesh section).  I don't know if he quit being a merit source or what, but he certainly hasn't sent any in the last 120 days.

Little Mouse, why don't you apply to be a source?  You've been around long enough and seem like you'd be enthusiastic about the position, so perhaps you should ask Theymos to consider it.

Just in case this information may be of use, here’s the number of sMerits, TX, Senders & Receivers on the thread since the beginning of the Merit System:

Bangladesh    2019      10        2         2         1         2
Not accounting for merits awarded to post moved elsewhere or deleted.

The above nevertheless is uncontextualized, and the context should be always interpreted by local board inner knowledge (number of posts, post quality/interest, number of posters, number of sources/meriters, etc.).

No hate to anyone, but BitcoinDream is quite inactive and LittleMouse's engaging into others conversation regularly. So it'll better for our local board if BitcoinDream becomes more active to engage with us. On the other hand, maybe LittleMouse should talk to BitcoinDream if he wanna give the position for that application. As always, we really need a merit source for our local board. :D

No. I am/was NOT a merit source. By source merit, I meant sMerit. Probably sendable merit would have been a better term.

Below is my last post. It was in last week only. Not April.

I do not post/login here frequently. Unlike many, I do not wear a paid signature either. But I actively monitor the Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0). As soon as my sMerit went down, I reported here. I did not get any top up. So, I could not distribute any further.

Apart from this, there is another issue with Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0). Most of the people I rewarded Merit, hoarded it and circulated within a closed circle. I dont know whether they know each other or Alt of a few. But, very little Merit comes back to me in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0). So, this prohibits re-circulation further.

Let's look at the data provided by LoyceV almost a year back. Despite contributing to the Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) for 6+ years, I was not among the Top 12 Merit receiver in that thread. But, I was the top Merit sender along with 2 others. And this is before my application to become a Merit source.

In any case, Bangladesh is still a thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0). AFAIK, no other thread has got its dedicated Merit source (I may be wrong though) so far. So, I doubt whether my Merit Application will ever be accepted. A Local Board request for Bangladesh (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4455886.0) is pending for 3+ years.

The above nevertheless is uncontextualized, and the context should be always interpreted by local board inner knowledge (number of posts, post quality/interest, number of posters, number of sources/meriters, etc.).
Thanks for that data, as always.  I'm wondering how many active members there are on the Bangladesh local board.  Anyone have any idea or at least a rough estimate?  If there aren't that many, then the board wouldn't need its own merit source.  But if there are, then it's clear that there aren't enough merits being spread around.  Those numbers are abysmal, but that's assuming that the section has a lot of active members and they're making good posts.

By source merit, I meant sMerit. Probably sendable merit would have been a better term.
Yes, it's a better term because it's the correct one.  Source merit refers to sMerits held by merit sources.

As soon as my sMerit went down, I reported here. I did not get any top up. So, I could not distribute any further.
You didn't get your sMerits topped up because you're not a merit source.  If non-merit source members could simply request that they get more sMerits, the whole system would be pointless.

According to https://ninjastic.space, 21 member were active in the last month (from July 9th till August 9th) and they wrote ~60 posts combined which is not a lot.

Bangladesh topic used to be quite active, but sometimes at the beginning of this year their numbers started going down. First time I included in my brief monthly overview of the local boards activity (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5231446.msg56016489#msg56016489) they had ~240 posts written, and for the last few months their average number is around ~50. It's a steep decline and not a good thing if they wanna get their own merit source or local board.

Nigerian local thread does have merit source (CryptopreneurBrainboss) but he didn't become one by applying to be their merit source, but for Altcoin and Beginners and Help  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5125145.0/) boards. I think your chances would be much better if you were more active on the forum, both in Bangladesh thread and in English part of the forum. I mean, in the last few years you wrote less than 100 posts, so no wonder that theymos is hesitant to give you a merit source status.

So, you are complaining against us, we the people who are active in the local thread in posting, sending merits? Not sure from which point of view you have said so. Let me share the post stats.
You have posted/contributed 23 times till June 21, 2020 from the creation of the thread.
    54. 23x (Legendary) BitCoinDream (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=181001)
After that, you have posted ~16 more times. So, with the previous records it's 39 in total. If you are not active how would you expect to get merit back?
And you are complaining people are spending their merits to close circle? Before saying so, you would have looked at the stats and find out how many people are active and how many of them posting quality post. In fact, the total circle is very close, limited to 21 members in the last month and very few of them post somewhat quality post which deserves merit. Then, how do you think the circle will not be close?
You don’t agree that you are not active, you always say that you are contributing to the thread. But it’s a shame for us that we have a Legendary member but have never shared a Legendary post/guideline/technical discussion. Well, you are not obliged to do so. You certainly have done a great job by creating the thread (I really respect you for that), other than the thread is YOURS, there's nothing else. Sorry, but that's the truth and I'm really sorry for saying the truth. You could be a great asset for the newbie but you have never been that guy.

@LoyceV, you can please share us an updated stats of total post by individual? I think my counts for BitcoinDream is wrong as I have done it manually.

No. Don't try to put up words in my mouth. All the people posting and learning about Crypto in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) are most welcome. I am nurturing them for 7+ years now and I will continue to do so. Problem is a few of you, who pop up every year to try to get control of the thread after a short stint of regular posting. I am just disgusted with you, who received Merit from me on multiple occasions in the Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) itself, but never thought of returning the favor. It is not that no one returned the favor. Some did and that topped up my sMerit to get redistributed in the thread itself.

No, I do not need your Merit. In fact, I do not need Merit from any of you, unless you expect Merit from me without me being a Merit Source. But, the guy who received most Merit from you (https://bpip.org/Profile?p=Little%20Mouse) is now vouching for you to become a Merit source (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277099.msg57647179#msg57647179). Anyone surprised? :D

So you made 25 posts in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0), received 11 Merits and spent 12 Merits by June 21, 2020. I made 23 posts in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0), received nothing and spent 12 Merits by June 21, 2020.

So, me doing 23 posts makes me inactive. And you doing 25 posts makes you active. How so? I'll also provide some snapshots to the community regarding my quality of post in this post below.

Moreover, let me know, without being a Merit Source, why should I keep meriting a thread, which is a black hole to me? But, still I did. And some of the people returned the favor. Once LoyceV posts his latest data, you'll know. :)

You are self-contradicting yourself with your previous post here. If you know that current posts are mostly low quality and does not deserve merit, why are you saying that Merit Source is needed immediately?
Bumping. Sadly, we don't have someone to share merits there. It has been long time since OP applied for being merit source but no step is taken from the administrators. Can our local thread get a merit source? I think it’s needed immediately.
I know, without an active merit source in place, the quality of posts in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) is gradually going down. That's obvious and that's the reason I did not bump this thread now. When I applied to be a Merit Source and even when I bumped this thread declaring that I am low on source merit (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277099.msg56324588#msg56324588), things were much better than what it is now.

Thank you so much for raising this. Not sure why the other trolls, that tried to pull me down, did not ask this question! ;)

A forum moderator, does not need to create content for the forum. They are supposed to manage how contents are organized. I not only created the Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0), I also self-moderate it. A lot of garbage had to be cleaned up to bring it to what it is today. Those thankless jobs are done silently. But thanks to theymos (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=35), an indicator at the top of the thread keeps a track of that. So far, I had to clean up 1413 posts by 192 users so far. For the benefit of newbies, I have also collected set of posts by various users in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) in OP and I constantly look for new posts to add. This requires regular monitoring of the thread. As per June 2020 data (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5257102.msg54659225#msg54659225), I am also one of the top Merit sender to this thread. Moreover, contrary to what you have said, I have made posts, that I felt to be helpful for the community. Below are some excerpt from just first two pages of my post history...

You really, I mean really need to grow up. I mean grow up by knowledge about how merit system works. It's not like favoring anyone, it's not like returning the favor. It’s for deserving post. Why would I throw away my smerit to a post which isn’t of high quality from my point of view?

I was asked to respond here.

maybe LittleMouse should talk to BitcoinDream if he wanna give the position for that application.
I've never seen a "Merit source status" being transfered at a user's request. Any somewhat established member (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0) can apply to be a Merit source.

Most of the people I rewarded Merit, hoarded it and circulated within a closed circle.
I'd say you shouldn't even check what they do with their sMerit. As long as you Merit posts that deserve it, you're doing good.

Quote
I dont know whether they know each other or Alt of a few.
They can decide on their own what to do with their sMerit.

Quote
But, very little Merit comes back to me in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0). So, this prohibits re-circulation further.
This shouldn't matter: you shouldn't Merit a post expecting to be Merited in return.

I am just disgusted with you, who received Merit from me on multiple occasions in the Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) itself, but never thought of returning the favor.
I made a thread for this: [parody] Merit Backstabbers: who stabbed who in the back the most? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5103387.0). Note the word "parody": it shouldn't matter! I've Merited at least 1600 users who never Merited me. That's okay :)
You've sent 4 Merit (https://loyce.club/Merit/history/181001.html) to Little Mouse and didn't get anything in return. Don't worry about it, Merit is for good posts and it shouldn't matter who wrote it.

This doesn't prove or disprove anything without reading the posts (which I can't). But given how long you've been around, chances are you made those posts before the Merit system even existed.
Feel free to posts some of your posts in Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5093271.0), but the language makes it difficult for most Merit sources.

So, me doing 23 posts makes me inactive. And you doing 25 posts makes you active. How so?
Check the time frame :)

I'll collect the data. Update: see this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5257102.msg57661309#msg57661309) (and next page).

Am I understanding you correctly that you expect people to "pay back" the merit you sent to them in the Bangladesh local board?  If that's the case, there's no way in hell you should be a merit source.  In fact, that's akin to wanting a kickback--and that's shady behavior in itself, regardless of whether you're a source or not.

Members in your local section should be circulating their merits, yes, but that doesn't mean they should be favoring any members who sent them merits.

From looking at the data Rikafip presented, it would appear that the Bangladesh section isn't very active at all and probably doesn't need a dedicated merit source (unless it was a member with a relatively low allocation of sMerits).  I'm sure some of the members cross post in the English section and earn merits there, which can then be used to reward members in the Bangladesh board.  That's what's probably going to have to happen, as I doubt Theymos is going to tap anyone as a merit source specifically for that section--unless it was a member like Little Mouse, who'd make a good source in general IMO.

No, I do not need your Merit. In fact, I do not need Merit from any of you, unless you expect Merit from me without me being a Merit Source.
Source or not, you should no give merits in the expectation that the person would return the favour. No one expects merits from anyone in particular, you just merit what you find worthy of merits.
I support that this behavior is unfit for a forum user, much less for a merit source.

WoW! Congratulations @Little Mouse for successfully creating chaos & confusion regarding my Merit Source Application.

I am well aware of the fact that Merit should go to deserving posts with expectation of no return. It is a Reward System and NOT a Medium of Exchange. But, the problem here is, because I am the thread creator, I am being dragged into the scene and held responsible for dearth of Merit at Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0).

I think he is either messing up spendable (sendable) merits and source merits. Both are different. He is not a merit source as far as I know. And this also makes no difference since he is not much active.
I am being accused of not being active, as if, it is my duty to actively post across the board and earn merit to give it to Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0). As per my understanding, my posting regularity should not be a matter of consideration here. As long as I had sMerit earned from my usual activity, I regularly gave it to the deserving posts in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) and when I was low on it, I reported here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277099.msg56324588#msg56324588). So, to respond to the allegation quoted above, I made the following statement...

This in no way means that I expect Merit back, when I am giving it away. But, if someone accuses me for dearth of Merit at Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0), then he/she is also responsible for the supply of Merit to me.

Moreover, the time frame of posts in Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0) should actually be counted from 2019. Before that the thread was a shit fest of account farmers. Important posts got regularly buried under shit posts. After introduction of Merit system to uplift Forum Rank, these spam attack somewhat came down. Then cleaning up the garbage became feasible, which led to the removal of 1413 posts by 192 users so far including some recent ones. One may get a view of how things were in earlier days from the initial responses in my Local Board request for Bangladesh (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4455886.0).

@LoyceV, @The Pharmacist, @Upgrade00 I tried to put forward my rationale above. Please check it and share your opinion.

Note to theymos: As it appears that at least 3 trusted members of the community doubts my understanding of Merit system, I would request you NOT to consider my Merit Source Application till they are sanguine about my understanding.

I am being accused of not being active, as if, it is my duty to actively post across the board and earn merit to give it to Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0).
That wasn't an accusation; it was just a statement of fact and was backed up with data.  I wouldn't take that personally.  If you're active in the Bangladesh section, you're active there; if you're not, you're not.  You don't have a responsibility to make posts there, especially with your English being as good as it is.

This in no way means that I expect Merit back, when I am giving it away. But, if someone accuses me for dearth of Merit at Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0), then he/she is also responsible for the supply of Merit to me.
I don't have the patience to re-read everything in this thread, but I don't recall anyone accusing you of being the root cause of the low number of merits being circulated in your local board.  You're not even a merit source, so there's no way you could be responsible for that.  Surely other members in the Bangladesh board have sMerits to hand out, and they share the same "responsibility" to give them out rather than hoard them.  I put quotations there because there really isn't a responsibility on anyone's part unless they're a merit source, but there isn't one (yet) in your local board.

Also, nobody should be giving you merits in order to replenish your supply of sMerits--for a number of reasons.  For one, people can merit good posts in the Bangladesh section themselves without involving you.  For another, you're not a "community-made" merit source who depends on his sMerit supply coming from other members instead of a real merit source who'd get them from Theymos.  What you wrote is just a bizarre statement IMO, and I doubt it's a misunderstanding due to language.

Edit:

Guys, get a beer together :) You clearly both want the Bangladesh thread to succeed. Work together instead of against each other, don't start another useless forum feut :o
Agree with this 100%.  I'm not sure if the Bangladesh board needs a dedicated merit source given its level of activity, but between the both of these two members, I'm pretty sure they could act as a collective source of merits for members who do post there.

WoW! Congratulations @Little Mouse for successfully creating chaos & confusion regarding my Merit Source Application
Wow! You are amazing!
I'm quoting some of my posts from this thread regarding your merit source application. Hope it will make sense if anyone have that sense to understand the pretty easy language.
Bumping the thread to get attention from the admin theymos. Can we get an update as our local thread is in badly need of a merit source? The number of quality posts are increasing in significant number. With more merits there, I think we can get a spam free thread.

Bumping. Sadly, we don't have someone to share merits there. It has been long time since OP applied for being merit source but no step is taken from the administrators. Can our local thread get a merit source? I think it’s needed immediately.

Having one merit source for the local thread we have is enough. BitcoinDream has already applied and that's why I didn’t consider to apply anymore.

This is what I have said before the discussion turn into a chaos and guess what, we were on the point that you are quite inactive and you bring a lot of personal attack and now you are saying I have started the chaos? Sorry, brother. You need to grow up your mind as well along with the knowledge of merit system. No, you don’t know how it works. Otherwise, you would never bring the favoring back meriting discussion here.
And please, don't act like you are a moderator of the forum. You have created a self moderated thread. You are good to do whatever you want with that. But please, don't say that contribution. I have joined the forum in 2018. After 2 days, it will be my 3 year journey here. If you even count the post in that thread from 2019, I believe I will still be superior from you by post counts. I'm not saying I have contributed a lot. What if there were someone who wrote some great article in that thread in Bengali? Certainly I/any newbie would learn more about Bitcoin, cryptocurrency in general. But sadly, we didn’t have you as that guy, never you were that guy.
Thank you for your good sense of humor. Everyone can see who have bring the real chaos here as all the posts are here.

This in no way means that I expect Merit back, when I am giving it away. But, if someone accuses me for dearth of Merit at Bangladesh thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.0), then he/she is also responsible for the supply of Merit to me.
In your first quote, you made it sound like you expect Merit in return. Your second quote corrects this. Let's assume it's a transation or intonation thing that wasn't meant like this. I think you're overthinking it ;) Don't worry about it, if theymos wants you to be a Merit source, he'll make it happen.

WoW! Congratulations @Little Mouse for successfully creating chaos & confusion regarding my Merit Source Application
Wow! You are amazing!
Guys, get a beer together :) You clearly both want the Bangladesh thread to succeed. Work together instead of against each other, don't start another useless forum feud :o

I wouldn’t mind to invite him to Bora Bora along with GazetaBitcoin (he knows where Bora Bora is, I don’t know 😂) to have a beer but I doubt he would be able to join.
Cheers 🥂 BitcoinDream. I'm here to learn, if possible help people to learn. I really hope everyone should have that goal otherwise, we will not see someone talking about bitcoin as a currency or store of value, it will be the currency of darkweb to them.

BUMP, All the way up.

We were expecting a dedicated local board. An application has been pending for a while (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4455886.msg39874569#msg39874569). We Bangladeshis are still limited to one thread. We have no local board. Some countries do not have local boards. There is only one reason. High-rank members are not active in this thread. The thread creator created it as self-moderated, and he himself is not active. As a result, even though there is a low-quality post (One Line Post), there is no one to watch. There are only 2-3 active members, of which Little_Mouse & Review Master brothers are the most active in this thread. The local board application has been pending for a while now but is not being approved. Just because most of the high-ranked members don't contribute there. Here are a few reasons,

If you visit the Local board often, You will see a lot of Questions raised by newbies. They ask a lot of things about bitcoin but the reality is most of the member doesn't reply to them just because they are newbies. This is true that when you will give a lot of effort to writing a good post and only newbies read that, You won't get merited. I think this is the only reason why newbies don't get their questions answer. If your board has few High-rank members, Then the case is a bit different. If you write a good post on the local board, Your Other good ranked local board mate will appreciate your post. But, If there are only a few people. Your post won't be appreciated. This is the reason why people don't contribute to their local board. I think Our Merit source Members should visit Local boards more Often and take a look.

Look like we are not going to get a Merit source in near future.  :(
Look like a bunch of Merit sources are already engaged on this thread. I am seeking attention from Our Respectable Merit sources @LoyceV, @The Pharmacist, @suchmoon, @Royce777. I am here to share a few stats

Number of Post Per Local Board

Merit Per Post Ratio

*This data could be wrong, I will update as soon as I get an update from Rikafip.

Looks like that, but hoping to have a merit source for our local section as my smerit will be finished soon. And i won't be able to appreciate potential users from our local section as many users are being active nowadays. Just hoping for the best for our local community.

I don't think theymos is going to make someone a merit source who is inactive for the last ~57 days, haven’t visited the forum for this long time and expecting to have him as merit source would be fool in my opinion.
And he has last shared merit on August 11 (not sure if he has any smerit but he must have a few if I'm not wrong. So, don't expect to get a merit source anytime soon.

That would be appreciated if at least merit sources visit our thread.

Try to ignore that topic about Bitcoindream. he already left a note for theymos
Note to theymos: As it appears that at least 3 trusted members of the community doubt my understanding of the Merit system, I would request you NOT to consider my Merit Source Application till they are sanguine about my understanding.

It's been half a year since this application has been pending. I don't think this application will be approved since BitcoinDream Himself is not active enough. Also, He left a note for theymos:

You may ask then why I am bumping this thread?
I was going to report some unmerited good posts from my local thread because I believe those posts deserve more merits. But, I realized that merit sources could not read our local posts, so it would be hard to judge posts' quality. I understand if they cannot read, how will they evaluate the posts? Even though LoyceV was looking for some good posts, he could not evaluate them because he could not read them.

In Bangla
Sorry, I was looking for posts I can read:

In my opinion, In Bangladesh Thread, the Most recognized and active member is @Little Mouse. I would like to request him to apply for being a merit source so that we can get a merit source who can read and evaluate the posts accurately.

It's good to hear that your local boards are so active and  there are many user who still posted it there. And also I think that it's a good choice to have a merit source in order to spread more merits to those quality posters like you, OP and mane other member of your local. But I don't think so if theymos will accept some merit source applications for now. Aside for little mouse, why not you will try to apply for merit source buddy. For sure you have a chance if theymos will accept application.

I looked at the posts in the OP and I noticed two things:
1 - You cited many posts from Review Master. If you do become a merit source, I would encourage you to spend your merit to a diverse group of people, while still spending near your maximum amount of merit.
Nice observation and I observed same. But I think there is no problem with that, I said this because I have read where theymos said something about this. I will not quote him because I may not provide exactly his lines but he is of the opinion that it is better to dump 50merits on one quality post than to split the merits to non quality posts for the purpose of fairness or circulation of merits.
Therefore, it could be possible that Review Master made majority of quality posts in the board as merit is supposed to be giving based on post quality not on individuals .

Yeah he is not active much himself as you see it's been 23 days since he was last active on the forum and have not send any merit in past 120 days also while receiving only 2 merits so I think he would not be appointed as merit source by @theymos as there are some additional application also being pending along with him for different boards.

His last post on 22ndApril also tells that Bangladeshi users is seeing downfall in number over the self-moderated thread  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5395819.msg59949874#msg59949874) so he might be getting acquainted with some other works.

Yeah this is the reason why many merit sources are unable to give out merits in local board as they don't understand the native language and can't evaluate the post with this barrier and need for local merit source is present who can help them to rank up with good post.If you think you are good for it you can also apply in Meta with your application but don't know if @theymos plans to add more merit sources at this time or not.

Yeah the merits should be given to deserving members only who has made up some quality posts and you see there are members who give out the full limit of 50 merits at single post only because they find it useful but giving out it to some non-quality shit posters is wrong.

Now many people are buying merit.  Which is absolutely illegal.  In fact, people have become such that they do not want to give merit to any important post or qualifying post.  Because they are selling merit.  And it is reducing the will power and enthusiasm of the common members.  If you don't get rewarded for doing something good, you won't want to do it again later.  Think what good is profit if it is not worth it.  But there are some senior good hearted people who give merit to everyone.  There are some honest people like BitCoinDream, cryptobrainboss and more.  However let us honor the honorable and refrain from dishonesty.  thank you

Wrong. Only Merit sources aren't allowed to sell Merit, Admin never said buying Merit is illegal.

You make a lot of accusations. Have you considered spamming bounties isn't contributing anything to the forum?

Quote
Because they are selling merit.
I must be rich (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats)!

And it is reducing the will power and enthusiasm of the common members.
Lol.

What is this? The Like and Upvote generation who needs instant approval?

But there are some senior good hearted people who give merit to everyone.
Please share who they are, Merit isn't meant for everyone, it's for good posts. And most users (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=recent;patrol) don't make good posts.

There are some honest people like BitCoinDream, cryptobrainboss and more.
Really! Where is it coming from? I don't believe it's from BitcoinDream. He has the courage to tell everything publicly. But for your info, he has sent 1 merit in the last 120 days. Are you trying to fame/defame BitcoinDream?
Also, if you claim something, you must have enough facts/stats with solid proof. Simply saying so wouldn't bring any good result.
Why are you complaining here? If you want to get merit, make sure you post with minimum quality.
