Sometimes things like this would happen not only to them but for us as well if we don't use our mind well and get carried away easily. You know what, I may say this is a good thing in some other way because if we reflect well from what they have done, obviously we won't gonna do what they did. In that case, we could learn from their mistakes and proceed with our own plan by skipping the thing they are fallen to. There is an actual term for this called Sudden Wealth Syndrome and yes it is pretty debilitating if you do not know what to do with all this money. If you are trying to luck for a long time in lottery you will get used to losing but when you won such amount you would really do anything you like with the huge money like that I think there's nothing wrong to enjoy it but we should always have a plan just in case we won.

Well, this is part of the reasons why anonymity/privacy is important. I'd  prefer to bet/rewarded privately... Nothing really bad in giving lots of people part of the prize. I would make sure that those who benefit from my gifts use them properly and "bear fruits". There could be signed agreements with them, like this: "if you do well with this money/gift within this space of time, I won't collect it back but if you don't, I will".
By the way, I wish more people win from the hugh prize money rather than a single person. And I will make sure more money randomly goes to people with good reputation/records.

It's not clear for me why some on the list become loser while they are just being misfortune on there life like being murdered or being charge for false accusation. The word "Unfortunate" is more appropriate than losers because they didn't waste there money when they are alive.

Unlucky for most of them, those that donated are actually not losers imo, they just don't need that money, or they don't really have anything else better to spend it on. Buying cars with what you basically won through luck instead of investing to make it grow more is pretty stupid, especially since cars, when used, only needs one single moment for it to be completely ruined.

Well, most cases of what happened were a result of the family knowing them winning though tbf. Though tbh, I'd also hide it, not only from the public eye but literally everyone else. I'd invest it slowly and would only reveal it when I have a way to earn a stable income that would make me live quite comfortably.

Things you should consider when you have money is so important and you should always remember who was with you when you have nothing and who shows their true face.

What in the world with that man. 10% of winning given to that guy is a good chance build a life not only just a house and lot but also investment like businesses that one do like. There is a big flow of money there but well that is his life and it did happen already so hopefully he did regret it. Anyway, I was just amaze by the list OP had shared about the winnings of some people had made. Relatively they got a good winnings and they are very lucky. Well, it seems only few are really lucky in the lottery and they are the few in the list.

we can see that people on the list spend thier winnings on material things or physical things that they think can make them happy but whats wrong with that?

you still have your material things with you when you dont have money left in your purse and you can still sell those to have a cash again but those that are spent in strippers , clubbings , drugs and other bad stuffs those are not a good influence even if they say that this still give them happinnes . once you spend them on here you cant see your money again

The one thing that can ruin and build your fortune is your GREED in accumulating things that you desire and all you want in life, when you hit the jackpot, suddenly you have the means to fulfill all the desires that haunt you over the years.

It will spell disaster if you don't know how to moderate it, how to handle it properly and you are not a morally sound person, I have seen and we have records like this, where they hit the jackpot and suddenly back to zero after a few years because they cannot handle themselves properly and let the greed take over them.

It's hard to win to the lottery and those people who are winning money they are lucky because they wina lot of money but sad to say that not all them are wasting their money or not use in he right thing. If I'm going to win a jackpot I wouldn't tell anyone about it maybe just my very close family member since if the whole family knew about it I'm pretty sure they will all come to you begging for money. It's quite sad that the last winner won a very huge amount of money but his winnings are taken away buy forged checks which state that banks aren't that good at verifying withdrawal. This topic reminds me of 2017 shitposters from forum who received a few hundred thousand dollars through various bounties and lost them altogether. While many have left the forum to live a wealthy life, some people have lost the money due to the 2018 dump. I would say none should become wealthy easily as it would prevent their mind to think more productively. For instance in the case of lottery win, some would have been uneducated population who had the luck and got their lottery win. In this case, they wouldn't be knowing much about the money they are having and how powerful investments could be. This is the reasons, lottery winners would be losing their lottery winnings sooner than ever by spending unnecessarily in various shitty ways.

Whereas in another scenario, wealth which was acquired by starting up a business or from other ways can last longer and can help the person to become more wealthy over the period. The sudden wealth that come from an instant way were fast to loss too. Be an instant winner of million dollar prizes in a lottery were definitely can be called as jackpot. And yes one of the main problem of the lucky winners were the thought of where they were going to spend these huge money they got and one thing and never get out on the list are the sucking relatives that if you were refused to gave them again what they are wanted they will cursed you. I did not make the list. Maybe if I have the time someday, I will do a more in depth searching regarding this lottery winners that blew all their money within their control. I have a neighbor that has same faith with these winners,Back in 2006 when they won a local lottery in which valuing about 400k dollars now(in which Huge Money in my country) .

What the family Did is bought a luxurious House and cars,Live in very High End style of living.

This is not uncommon occurence with lottery winners, in fact there is a book that documents the life of the people after winning the lottery. There is a research that also shows that most interviewed lottery winners felt miserable after their win. I feel bad for them but most of the time, their actions are kind of their fault too.

The same happened with bounty hunting shitposters of this forum. 2017 had been a fortune making lottery win for almost everyone who participated in these bounties. But it didn't last long and they came back again to spam this forum. We have seen old trustworthy accounts from our forum begging for a few dollars during the pandemic and I speculate they could have end up spending all their bitcoin like immediate millionaires back in 2011-2012. Earning money is a lot more difficult than spending and the lucky lottery winners would never understand this.

While Elon sold PayPal he never had the money to pay for his house rent since he ended up investing $180 million almost half in Tesla and half in SpaceX. Both these companies had great return of investment for him and made SpaceX the market leader for producing private spacecrafts and supplying to NASA. This is how people who have self-earned their money and respect would be spending on and not like the uneducated morons buying lambo and showing off in public as being fake rich.

The Lottery businesses should also do their best to teach/suggest to such winners how best to use their money. If possible, suggest to them to lock up huge part of the prizes somewhere safe until they can figure out how to make good use of the money. can be a threat when we win the lottery. They want some of the money we got from the lottery, if we win the lottery we'd better not

As for the family, I think I'd share some money with the closest relatives, but giving it all to people with their loans does not make sense. I'd buy a flat (I'm currently renting, I don't have my own apartment) and maybe one more for lease, save about 10% of the money for studying and travelling, put about 50% into a scholarship for bright students from my country who are admitted to top universities abroad and require small additional financial assistance to go there (I was in this situation, so I want to help out those who'd also be in it), give about 30% to my relatives who could use this money. This is a plan for about $1 million. If it's more than that, I'd spend the first million as mentioned above, and put the rest of the money into opening a good private university in my country (with scholarships for the smartest and those who need them most, of course). I don't want to be rich per se, so in case I get lots of money, I want to spend it on something that matters (for me it's education).

The one that I think was wrong here is the discipline against the people around that may able to distruct your ways of spending getting influence by them. Well, what I think is that whenever I win a lottery or jackpot then what comes to my mind is to invest building asset like apartmebt for rent or real estate property businesses.

Everything else would be something easy to stop, I am not going to change the person I am just because I got money, and almost half of that money doesn't really require you to change your life neither.

Anything until 10 million dollars would be good enough money to have 3 lines of generations live comfortably if you are careful with your investments but it will not become money that would be world changing for everyone, it would easy life but it wouldn't be spend it on everything you find type of life, you have to still live a proper sane but above middle class life, your biggest expense could be a house and even that takes up a huge chunk of your money. Moving forward, those who are saying if only those winners do.. 1, 2, 3 or etc. are not making sense. Why should we care about how they used their money during their luxury days. If they become wrecked so be it.

The common reason what they got stuck living millionaire and ended up nothing is that because they overspend their money in gambling chasing back to hit the jackpot again. Like what you've said, very common mistake is being overspending, that mindset that the money came from easy gain are also easy to spent, the value has been forgotten believing that they can do things over again.

That is why people who don't know how to handle properly will lose big opportunities, whenever you earn a huge amount of money, you should use it for some worthy things, you may do investing, or making a business, even those both things are risky, this is still advisable because you can make your money increase by doing that. People who used to spend their money on unpleasant things will make you bankrupt. You may also lose your money through greediness, self control and proper handling will make your money increases.

I really feel bad for those guys but if they're just sick of money then so be it, crazy rich kids doesn't know what to do with their money.
If I were those guys LoL I would rather spend my Entire life spending those while travelling the world while making a gamble on some investments.

As I'm reading the post, I'm thinking too that these things might happen to myself too whenever I win in a lottery.
Aside from these bad happenings coming from some of the lottery winners, there are some winners too that end up a positive too.

This is the problem when you are betting in a lottery and suddenly you won a huge amount. You will be overwhelmed that you don't know where to put your money into. I think it would be better to keep your winnings as a secret. Don't say it to anybody including family members since they can leech your money until the last cent of it or just don't bet on lottery at all in order for you not to experience things like this that may end up your life being miserable.

I do agree that they did good with some of their money but the tragedy and misery that follow except for the Canadian outweighs the good things that they did to their winnings. In my opinion, I will not help anyone at first because it will be a slippery slope, I would first organize the money and then allot some of it to what is essential for me, then give 30% of the remaining to charity and family and closest friends, I do not care if they call me greedy, where were they when I was in need.

I believe there are people who have actually used their big lottery wins well. I have one as relation(actually an uncle)...*it wasn't from the regular lottery we are used to though.
So, the Tv program producers could as well balance their programs by featuring those who use the lottery prizes well so others can learn from them.

This is the sudden things that might happen to every Lottery winners.Their Luck is indeed about money but their Life is not safe all the way.
Each people around them will eager to have at least part of His money and this will be the chance of us being killed.

i still bet in lottery hoping to win,but if i did?surely only my parents will know about it,and will prevent others to find out.

The easier money it comes to our hands the easier as well to spend to nothing, the quickest also it gone in our hands just like a win. To correct such a mindest is a way to make it right and this is a big challenge for them, why? They always forget what they have plan before but instead, they got spending more and more until the last cents left.

It's because their own fault to not manage their money properly when they have won so huge amount of money from lottery. They keep buy everything with their money without thinking anything once their money gone. That's not sudden thing since they could prevent what will happen with them if keep their money without telling other people

I always thought that huge majroty of people loose all the money in the matter of few years but based on this list that is not actually true.It is all about resisting to invest money in dubious business suggested by your friends and relatives and you are good.All you have to so is put money in bank,preferably Swiss bank orsomeplace equally safe and you can comfortably live off the interest,

It's a matter of how well you manage your winnings. Winning a jackpot does not always come to us, so if we're given that opportunity, we should use it wisely. And I think that's what some of them forgot because they were probably so excited about the money that they forgot to think critically. As for the other cases, it really sucks to have some toxic people around you that just because you win, they will take advantage of that and use you.

They won big time, but it did not result in a good way, their happiness was just temporary because of their greed or the greed of the people that surrounds them.

Money can change people. Money can affect people’s behavior, how they act, think, and talk. Most of people change badly because of money. I guess you guys have this kind of person in your circle.

If you cant manage small amount of money, you wont be able to manage big amount of money too, because your mindset about money management wont change.

This happen when you don't know how to manage your finances, a sudden wealth from winning a lottery that no knowledge how to handle it properly.  When winning a huge of money you have to plan where you will spend it. I've heard the same story a man hit a jackpot after a few years ended up beggar because he spend it one big time. So when you become winners you will spend it wisely, put your money that will give a return of income.

It is sad but for many people winning the lottery leads to degrees of misery they wouldn't have known in their normal lives. Some kind of poisoned gift. There is a film in my country about this, but I think it is an adapted script so I'm sure you know that I am talking about.

If in case, you will win lottery, don't ever mention it to anyone, maybe not even to your family. Once you secure the winnings, put it in a safe place. Even banks are not safe, as I'm thinking that some employees will talk and will give you trouble. And then slowly, use it. But don't change your lifestyle, live as is. But you can plan on how to further grow your money, even small business that you can set-up with. Don't go big as people will be curious.

Lottery is deceptive and actually while there are big winners but if you count the countless small losers we have daily in lottery the big winners are nothing compared to them. I am not saying lottery is wrong or bad instead I am trying to put the point that winners are big in lottery but the amount lost by small bets is actually what pays those big ones technically.

I hardly play lottery and sometimes I am automatically entered into lottery like I play at stake often and they have a Lambo giveaway going on so I am entered automatically as every 1k wager earns a ticket into it, but I know the chances of me winning are not even realistic but that said all it takes is one lottery ticket to win. So, it's deceptive and very curious but I would never pay to buy lottery tickets.

They are only a few of them who got so lucky but can't imagine the countless number of gamblers who lose in the lottery. But the list had something to prove that winning in the lottery is not a joke, nor it was just fake and to look attractive. I do participate in the lottery but sadly I don't have luck and never have the chance to win.

But having said this, I don't discourage people to walk away from gambling or in the lottery. Who knows, the luck vested on you and you'll be like them winning millions someday.

That's correct and actually the one who wins big is not always the smartest instead the one who wins average and invests that money in the right place is the smartest person. There are numerous stories of people winning big but in some time they are back to bankrupt because they could not manage the wealth and like you said some greedy people, I call them parasites, will juice the money out of the riches slowly.

Nice list made in OP and I was surprised by the amounts mentioned actually because 314 million is too good to even think about it and winning such amount via lottery might give me a heart attack actually if I ever win that much or even close to that. I am into a few lotteries so my hopes are high after reading this thread ;D.

Yes I agree and this is common even in documentaries on tv, people change after receiving or winning a huge amount of money. After these, they spend endlessly as if there is no end. Until one day,  they woke up and realizede they have not enough money anymore and they regret it. Better to have plans, being lucky having a great windfall does not mean you spend it profusely.

And this is where most people failed to think of on how to spend their money wisely but instead they do the opposite way and when time comes  that they don't have much money left
then that's the time they do re-sell out those things  that they had bought with that money.

In the end they would really be regretting and thinking that they shouldn't have spent their money on that way but its already too late. There's no way to turn back the time.

This is why we should really be wise into our decisions in life because these chances doesn't come easily even into our entire life span.So better cherish it and give importance and have proper planning.

all that are on the list are winners but the list is few compare to all the winners of the lottery that are not listed on here. we do want to be like them we do want to win but we dont want to feel the same faith that they had .

winning in a lottery isnt a joke because the odds are close to impossible and also handling a huge money isnt also a joke if ever you win  .

your life can be threaten because criminals will get interested on you and will also be threaten if let say you will buy things that you dont have before like car ,  travelling on different places where accident is more prone to happen than living a simple life .

For those that mismanaged their lottery winnings, I guess they already realized that winning alone is like one in a million and should have used it properly. But anyway, the regret is always at the end. Everyone of us always think that if given that once in a lifetime chance, we will spend it wisely. But in some cases, the scenario changes once you are in that situation.

It is true that 90% of the people who are winning in lottery or in gambling are losing it in just a period of time because they do not have good financial education so there is really a high chance that they will get back to their older lives. Their spending habits will become worst especially because they win huge amount money, they just spend and spend without knowing that their money is keep decreasing. These hundred of stories are not unique anymore, I think it is because a lot of people are not financial literate and they do not have care on improving what they know. There are only some people who manage to increase the money that they won in lottery by making investment in different financial instruments and assets.

There are a lot of things you can't really do if you are blinded with money, most of the time people think spending without reasons will bring them good things until they spend it all and finally they woke up with nothing to do to get it back. If those people really cared about their future, they could have stopped themselves from wasting all those money and think of the way on how to keep it until they leave this world. But most people don't know, all they want is entertainment which often leads to their demise.

Who knows when that big shot will fall for you, it will be a life changer if you know how to value the money.

There are people who keep losing each time they've tried their luck but for people who really determine they will not stop as long as there's money that they can spare, it will just a continuous cycle from time to time, either they died or they'll get the chance of winning the jackpot and enjoy the rest of their lives.

We are different on how we will do things, some of these people are just fated to be tied with this tragedy called instant wealth. That is just my take on people always saying what if I hit the big money. I know that it differs and financially speaking, gambling is not the best course of action. Or maybe I just do not get the mindset of this people. I do not think it will save you from constant losses, chances and odds will be the one that will save you.

Judging from the backgrounds of that lottery winners, almost all of them were poor.  those who have never held a lot of money will be surprised when they have so much money and that's what happened to them.  There have been many cases where money is the cause of the breakdown of the family, husband-wife, and friend relationships..

money is just a tool, so when you have a lot of money immediately control yourself, manage your money, don't let money control you and the people around you..

^ What's done is done and these people just teach us a lesson of the possible mistake that can also ruin our lives if we will have a sudden earning like them. We cannot change the things that happened to them but because of them we can be better ones and be able to manage it by considering that a sudden earning should not be followed by a sudden decision on what to do next. Where you do came from on a poor family and suddenly you do able to hit the jackpot and have tons of money then i cant blame out people not to know on what they should gonna do.

That is a great realization, it is smart to learn from your own mistake but it is wise to learn from other's mistake. I have read the article and I learned something new from this people. My realization in this is that generosity is the biggest weakness of these people, it could have been prevented if you have the balls to say no in the first place.

It is sad and shocking how the closest person in your life ended up being your enemy all over money. Well I guess what they say is true, love of money will be the root of all evil. Winning the lottery is a double edged sword I guess, if you have people in your life like those of the lottery winners have it will be hard to manage I guess. Controlling your money is easy, but the persons around you is isn't that easy money will always blind them.

It is not the love of money that we should be wary of and label it as the root of all evil. In my opinion, the root of all evil is the human nature of wanting to be more than the others. We can't change human nature that easily, as long as we see someone as competition, envy and greed will be present and nothing can stop someone with the conviction to steal from someone even if it is their family.

This is why there are many lottery winners in my country that lose their winnings instantly. The improper way to spend and no knowledge in investment will lead them in losing their jackpot prize. Financial advisor is always needed when you have plenty of money. If you have knowledge on how to manage your asset, it will not be gone instantly. Unless, you will be scammed by your neighbourhood/kin. Just like the person in my place who won a million in lottery, he gave it to his kin because he has no knowledge where he will place his money.

I think it's better if we also learn from them, not just the future lotto winners because we can't really know who they are, right? It could be us who can win the jackpot prize. But regardless, it's a financial matter. Whether we win big in a lottery or not, we should learn how to manage our finances well. We should know how and where to allocate the money we earn so that it won't go to waste, together with our time and efforts.

With the regards to the op, I think it sucks when other people, especially your relatives, suck the riches out of you. I mean, they can ask nicely for financial help. But I think when it comes to money issues, it really has the tendency to bring out the worst in us. The saying, "Money is the root of all evil" is indeed true.

I'd like to become a lottery winner of course, if it'll really happen. But if the ending will be like one of those ten people, then no thanks.

What makes people responsible and happy is doing what they love to do or what they are talented in for the benefit of others.
Perhaps if you recognize this talents in such winners and get them to impact their society with such talent/gift, they will use the money more responsibly in the businesses.  The problem is that they spend the money on themselves or selfishly to be happy. Those kind of spending usually bears no fruit. Better to use it to develop your talent to help other people. That's what makes us happy not huge money.
