Hello OP. There's no doubt that Airswap is 101% legit project and has been running for years with good daily trading volume and marketcap. I am just wondering what is the purpose of this newly created thread because I believe there is already an existing thread for Airswap since September 2017?

On my end, I haven't tried using their airswap trading app. Do you have prior experience in this kind of p2p trading? What is the advantage of this over the regular DEX? How about the gas fee? Is it relatively economical than Uniswap?

Airswap is the same as uniswap. you can try to use it too and as far as I know if airswap was charging zero fees for its user. Im not sure about this but the gas fees can be adjusted. The swap services need several transaction to be able to swap your coins to the another coin. that makes it needs to do some transactions started from deposit your asset until you can swap it to another asset.
that's why uniswap charges you a lot of fees.

wow a peer to peer trading platform with many advantages such as we don't need to signup and without trading fees,
this is great, and for sure this platform will be huge because of all the advantages above,
by the way i hope this platform will have a strong security system, so people will trade here with full confidence

AirSwap will enter second phase with new governance, tokenomics, treasury plan, website, and launch goals for the new year in january 2021, will see what plans it will be

Are you going to run promotional campaign in preparation for the launching of this second phase?
What is the major edge of AirSwap over other DEXs out there?
Are they going to integrate the Order Book in this phase?
I saw someone suggested this feature already but still under review.
I think this is important to most traders, to see the offerings of other traders.

So Swap provides a method that is both decentralized and unaffected by limitations that make it difficult for them to compete with currently available centralized solutions.

Correct, it's a peer-to-peer swap with no escrow involved. User 1 creates and signs an order, User 2 has the option to execute it.

AirSwap token (AST) is a utility token for use on the network. It is not an investment and although it can be traded on secondary markets we do not control how it is traded.

The AirSwap Token is a membership token and has utility as its holders are able to access the network as a “maker” (i.e. set prices).
Buying AST is for this utility, not as an investment.
The token sale was not done for strictly fundraising purposes. We were venture-backed when completing the token sale.
Our token can be listed and sold on secondary markets. We do not actively promote listing or trading on any particular secondary market.

AST+ is a governance system for AirSwap. Community members stake their AST to participate in voting and as a result, can claim protocol fees.

Well, AirSwap currently has no fees. That alone is a pretty good deal. There won't be any bounty.

Just saw that ConsensysCodefi is working on the Airswap phase II Launch & Developments. I think this will give confidence to the community, Superly excited as this will give AST utility token massive attention. is there any other DEX where you can trade without any trading fees like AirSwap?

People just saying that AirSwap is legit and it's potential, but curious mind wants to know how do you recognise AirSwap is legit? I have something to know about this project,
First of all, is it really true that AirSwap doesn't need any fee when it's trading? how come? secondly, you are marking the rated one security issue but how could I believe that thing? and finally, I just want to know what to difference between AirSwap and UniSwap, are those two things similar?

How is this better than/different to Uniswap?

They are fundamentally different. Uniswap is a peer-to-contract model where you are trading against a smart contract that determines the price using an algorithm based on supply and demand. AirSwap uses the Swap protocol, which is designed for peer-to-peer trades. Traders negotiate about price off-chain and then settle their trades on-chain. This means trades can not be front-run or experience price slippage like they may in a peer-to-contract model. Neither of these models is objectively better than the other; they have different trade-offs that make them more suitable for different use cases.

If you don't require to register with personal info & no need to deposit your coin, you're safe to trade on any dex. I don't know where did you see the ranking of the decentralized exchanges. Airswap backed by Consensys which is big in crypto & makes it easier for crypto traders to execute their traders in such a platform. I saw in the whitepaper that airswap protects against front running attack. Can somebody explain me how's this been achieved?

 I acknowledge that it's based on a P2P architecture but ultimately the  transaction will be set on Ethereum's mempool where everything is publicly visible. So how is it works?

Once it's in the mempool it's publicly visible but there's nothing to "front run" because each order is for specific counter-parties at a specific price.

I don't think uniswap rates are that high, but lower rates are much better. Will the rates on AirSwap not be based on the network?

True, trading fees on Uniswap are quite expensive, especially when the ETH network is busy. AirSwap offers trading without fees, but I didn't quite get it yet. I hope anyone can explain how it is possible to trade on DEX / swap without fees.

In particular, AirSwap is releasing new contracts this week that use the least gas possible, making it the most efficient RFQ protocol available. This means better prices for users and more trades won by AirSwap liquidity providers.

On that volume, a protocol fee is being assessed on AirSwap trades that go through MetaMask (@metamask_io). 100% of those fees go to a pool to be later collected by participants in the AIP open development and governance process.

With the pool in place, we are launching the new AirSwap governance portal in collaboration with @ConsenSys #CodefiActivate. This will be your new destination to browse and learn about proposals, vote, and claim rewards for voting. Look out for launch later this month.

The new Smart Contract gaining all the swaps from Metamask, I think that would increase Volume in Big Time on Airswap. Was trying to make a trade on Uniswap High Gas fees & Price Slippage cost me $30 in one Trade. AirSwap is truly a game-changer here. low gas fee no price slippage. I am ready to lock my token for the fees coming to AST+ Pool. Volume already near 1k ETH day, Mind you they haven't made it public yet. Very Excited time ahead, I am ready to move my trades from Uniswap to Airswap.

This will be their big advantage over uniswap. Fees are big deal nowadays especially for small traders like me. That $30 sometimes is already the total amount of the tokens that you want to trade with. So nothing is left if you will just spend that for gas fees. That's ridiculously not acceptable. Airswap will be a good alternative in the making. Hope they will not change the fees later on.

Hey all, update for this week

1. Daily volume consistently increasing, looks like 1,590 ETH ($2M+) yesterday. We have potential improvements to the swap “light” contract that we’re working out today and will share a timeline if we decide to move forward with the changes.
2. New website is up and being iterated on, thanks everyone for feedback. @Murat (Tokensfund.io)  has been managing a bitcointalk thread that is being updated with the latest content now, which we’ll share when it’s ready to go.
3. Online presence is being continuously reviewed and updated. DeFi Pulse does not charge anything, it’s just a directory, we’ve been waiting to get things cleaned up before providing them the latest project info. Will update when it’s been updated. Unfortunately they rank by “value locked” instead of volume though.
4. Channel for #holders has been created and we’re going to share instructions today. Actually you just need to type “!join” in any channel and confirm that you hold at least 100 AirSwap tokens.
5. Getting Telegram ready and will update here when it’s flipped on. Just want to make sure it's configured properly and we’ve got a nice welcome message set up and a spam management plan.
6. AST+ is on track and we’re doing an internal demo with the Activate team on Thursday, after which we will announce release plans. Looking forward to it!

Hey, is there one who knows about the issue of AirSwap is going to get integrated in MetaMask? is it really going to happen?

1. Staking on the new Activate governance portal (formerly AST+) is on track for launch; upcoming AIP votes will begin shortly thereafter. Looking to publish a user guide for this process.
2. Launch will include new marketing content that we’re pushing out with tweets this week. The story is that AirSwap is an open organization with good incentives and a strong mission.
3. Presence is shaping up and we’re still rolling out updates to make sure the latest project info is correct on ecosystem tools and aggregators.
4. Swag is coming along nicely and we hope to have it up on MetaFactory as early as a couple of weeks. In addition to the classic pullover, we’ve got a zip-up hoodie that looks pretty cool.

I am ready to start staking AST on FEB 9, But in recent time too many contracts got hacked which were audited by top audit farms. how does AirSwap will assure users about hacking or token loss? is there any pool to cover the losses in case of hacking?

Agreed, Also some special features been included here, There is no chance of slippage because AirSwap is not like AMM, AST (AirSwap) is fully  Peer-to-peer RFQ which refers the one party  sets price and cryptographically signs terms off-chain, then delivers it to the counter-party, who accepts the exact terms and sends to ETH for on-chain settlement.

They are not developing yet any product, still it's in progress, one thing, after 9th February, some expected thing could happen, the price and AirSwap governance both could bring a good hype in this platform in the coming days.

So the activity of Elon Musk on this cryptocurrency industry does bring any negative impact on AST price in the coming days? AirSwap community is waiting for this week but yesterday's event push me in panic regarding the price falling of AST. Don't know what will happen in the coming days.

I don't think so, Already the rush has been pushed out, price whale of bitcoin is becoming a normal thing day by day because some big fishes are looking forward to step in this platform, like Elon Musk so many other big influential people are observing the situation, it's just a matter of time Bitcoin to get established as a payment system and crypto like AirSwap will also get benefitted by this situation for sure.

Is it true that AirSwap is giving rewards in exchange of staking token? I heard that by staking token one can get voting power on proposal, it's really a good step for making this platform more decentralised.

I think investors could be attracted to this reason investing here for the future purpose, because people love participating wherever he or she intend to invest. it's really an appreciable step.

I am confident that I am going to stake AST what I have, But there is a little confusion about the unstake ratio, suppose I have staked 1000AST, how much I could get? 10% of 1000? okay...if this calculation is right then another thing is that those rewarded 10% must be added to the main portion so 1000+100=1100, my question is that in the next 7 days how much I could unstake 10% of 1100 or 10% of 1000?

It's been a great experience by staking AST, participating in AIP process, and finally I have got a some point, so I claimed it and got a good amount of reward, although the ETH gas rate was high so it directly impact on reward, whatever, it's good and new experiment with Metamask swap, hope to participate again.

Do you have any plan to marge with Binance chain? I think it may increase the volume of money, not only that but also Binance platform will be helpful to get more growth and the AST user will get more fees from that. So...

First one is, Does anyone has any information about the next Voting event? what will be the number of API?
and the Second thing, Is there any opportunity to reduce the gas fee which is very high? I think if the Gas fee would be less then the profit would have been more, and the participants will be increased on a very certain amount.

A parameter is going to set up for claiming the reward, basically, this vote is taking place for the sake of proper rewards distribution, by this way, big amounts stakers will get a handsome amount of rewards and this going to be a big impact on small stakers
