There are many people who still don't know about bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. I don't know about others I am talking about my country and about my society. Whenever I ask from people about or talk about the Bitcoin. They ask what is this?

How much there is who face this problem?

Are you really surprised though? Even though a lot of people(especially in countries like the US) have heard of Bitcoin, most of them still doesn't really know what it is and what it's for; probably besides the fact that it's totally digital.

Do I see it as a problem? Nah. In the first place, I just don't randomly talk about Bitcoin(because $5 wrench attacks[1]). But if it comes to topic when I'm talking to someone, I'll gladly answer questions. I just always make sure to tell them that I lost my coins in a boating accident.

Its common thing in all crypto irregulated country. There has some reason:
1: Government : First of all government dosen't tell about this technology to their people. That is why lots of people dosen't know about this.
2. Education : lots of countries people dosen't know because they are not aware about online or online share market. They don't understand blockchain.

In my country it is also same.

Cryptocurrency is still fairly new concept among the majority of the people. I remember when I was talking about cryptocurrency with some of my friends (explaining how cheap and easy to transfer money), most of them had never heard about the word. Even though, some of them knew about bitcoin, their knowledge was very little in this space.

Yep, the same situation here. Although Bitcoin is making roars through the investment funds and big companies, a very small percent of the population actually knows what Bitcoin is. I don't expect the adoption to happen overnight, but I'm sure that a lot of people who standed on the fence will try to scoop up some satoshis once they see all these institutions chipping in. The numbers are a bit high so it takes a bit of education to realise that you can buy a fraction of a whole Bitcoin.

Well, that is not surprising, even though the community of bitcoin is now bigger than before, there are still some people who don't know things about crypto, first of all, cryptocurrency is not a part of the program in school, so there is no way to learn about it unless you explore the internet and find things about it. The second is that not all countries have a stable internet connection so it would be a big struggle for them to access the cryptocurrency. The third is they already contented on fiat currency.
The number of people who don't know things about crypto is greater than those who know it.

This is very common in my country as well, most people are only interested on their own lives and for the most part they are not interested in something that does not improve it immediately and when you add almost no financial education then they have no interest at all in bitcoin, stocks gold or anything related to things like that.

It is disappointing but this plays to our advantage if those people keep ignoring bitcoin then that means that we have a bigger window of time to get more of it while we can and by the time they get to know about bitcoin it will be too late for them while we will be enjoying or profits.

Having a look at the comment, it seems everyone is facing the same situation. If people don't know about BTC, who are these guys trading BTC causing deep and bounce? Lol! Anyway, I would rate my country lower than yours in bitcoin awareness matter.

Always assume that some people still doesn't know about bitcoin because it's not part of the curriculum, it's just an application of technology and economics.

If we're talking about people in the provinces, I'm sure that most of them doesn't know about it. If you have studied about computers and finance, I'm sure they know about it but not all are using it.

Even they talk bitcoin in the news. I still doubt that some still remember what is it. So even bitcoin is getting popular right now, I guess it's just popular within our community.

Maybe that is due to the prohibition in your country, and probably there is. Bitcoin is having wide popularity at this moment because of the impression created from it wherein profit is assumed to be easily earned due to the increase in its market price. Little do they know that the market price is not consistently increasing and there are times of market price downfall resulting to partial profit loss. These assumptions are simply what making this technology popular so if it is not having influence in your country there might be factors affecting the spread of its popularity or influence, more likely prohibitions.

it is true that not everyone knows what bitcoin is, especially for the general public. As for some who know only bitcoin it's expensive and many think that only rich people can buy it. that's what I often find in some circles of the general public.

therefore we as people who are struggling in the world of cryptocurrency, it is time to provide insight to friends, neighbors and family. explains what bitcoin is, its purpose and benefits. and the advantages of investing in bitcoin.

so that gradually the understanding of the general public is no longer limited by just knowing the price, but in terms of the aspects of its benefits and uses for daily life and the future.

It is actually not a surprising scenario anymore for the fact that despite Bitcoin's outstanding popularity, still there are lots of people who do not certainly know or do not really have any idea to identify what Bitcoin really is. We cannot blame them though for there are many reasons why they do not know it. Maybe they are not up to date into the world news which you can encounter Bitcoin actually even at local news. There could also be a possibility that they do not have any close friends or relatives that know Bitcoin so they do not have any idea about it or they certainly do not care about it anymore. It is just fine though we cannot push them to identify Bitcoin because we do have our own reasons to get into or not. It is just up to the willingness and available resources for people to know and be able to make use of Bitcoin. Some or most are just not being able to have enough knowledge about it which makes them somewhat ignorant about Bitcoin's existence.

Don't be surprised. There are many people in this world who don't know about bitcoin. Fortunately most people in my circle have heard about bitcoin although they have not bought any of it.
If any of them ask me what it is, I explain it to them without any hesitation. Even Yesterday I and my friends were a little high and one asked me about bitcoin.
I didn't had to put in much effort since I was keeping on saying him more about bitcoin. He was fascinated when he got to know that the creator of bitcoin is still unknown.
The point being that even if there are people who don't know what bitcoin is, we should try to make more number of people aware about bitcoin.

I think everywhere bitcoin is not really familiar to others. Even they heard it but still doesn't know what bitcoin really is and how to use it. Specially those people live in remote areas where the internet connection is poor and there is only few people using gadgets and computer. But time will come when they will probably know about it and use it because bitcoin adoption continues to grow.

Bitcoin is a modern technology which is still new and will require time to be fully known by all around the world, the fact is this information is gradually getting to the people and at that very soon even the most remotely known place will start accepting bitcoin and other digital currency that will be easy to use across borders.

Crypto market isnt still into its full adoption so its nor surprise that you will see these kind of reactions or questions from people who doesnt even know
that it did exist. 10 years time is still young and theres still lots of rooms for us to grow so dont get frustrated or got stressed when someone dont know about it.
So the best thing to do is to tell them even on the most basic information about Bitcoin and they might be get interested to it.
So far, i have explained bitcoin to my family and my relatives but it seems they arent that much of interested with it.

Truth is, in decades time; there will be no one that would know about bitcoi n; i say this categorically because people are just uninterested in bitcoin, not that they have not heard or witnessed its functionalities. A saying says, you cannot please everyone; so just do your bits; educate few around you and continue to learn more about the blockchain and bitcoin yourself.

This is why I don't buy it when people say Bitcoin is like early days of the Internet. The Internet was rapidly growing in ts early days, people knew about it and wanted to use it, but it was so expensive at the beginning, that few could afford it. Bitcoin does not follow the same road, its adoption and recognition are much much slower, because fundamentally they are too different - the Internet allowed us to exchange information like never before, while Bitcoin is only interesting to people who distrust fiat currency, which is a minority.

Basically, it's how the majority of the people react whenever you ask them what bitcoin is. Are you expecting that each from your neighborhood knows bitcoin? they don't. Even in my neighborhood, I guess only a few of them knew about it but I don't know who exactly they are that knows it and the majority isn't aware of it. It will take time that most people will be aware of bitcoin. Not everyone has access to the internet and a tech-savvy.

It's not that most of the people don't know Bitcoin as most of us have heard the term Bitcoin but the understanding of bitcoin is limited to most of the people as some of them think it's illegal wherein few think it's like a gambling platform wherein a good number of tech geek and ordinary people understand what Bitcoin is really about. We cannot say people don't know Bitcoin especially after 2017 which made Bitcoin hot topic of the decade but it's rather people don't kniw it's functionality and features which they will gradually learn as we make further development.

I'm not really surprised at all. I still believe only less than 0.5% of the world's population are actually adopting or knowledgeable about Bitcoin right now. Even if it's more than a decade old, Bitcoin still has long ways to go before the whole world would finally recognize it. Just like the evolution of money, transitioning from barter to gold to physical coins/bills really takes a lot of time (like we're talking about decades for instance). We just have to be grateful that we are the early adopters of Bitcoin, etc.

Until Bitcoin becomes mainstream it is only a concept that is heard of by others. This may be for the better as it allows people who know about it to take advantage of bitcoin before the it is adopted in the future. When Apple or Microsoft first came out it was simply a concept. As time transcended, it was finally adopted to the monopolies we see today.

Not all countries have access to good technology so it's normal that there are people who don't know about bitcoin or don't have any idea what is bitcoin at all.

If your not a techie person you probably end up not knowing anything about crypto, that is why bitcoin is still adapting in a lot of countries since there is no education about it.

Most of the people in my country are just afraid to try bitcoin just because of the scams online and they don't know what bitcoin really is because of the bad image of bitcoin on the news related to a lot of scams.

But it's limited and also rare for people at these present time not to know what is bitcoin because looking at digital world it's quite understood that cryptocurrency dominates majority of the countries, cryptocurrency is all about bitcoin because bitcoin is the mother of any other coins, from my views I would like to say that anyone that don't wants to know anything concerning cryptocurrency don't have interest or passion on it, because the advert or news of crypto is everywhere across the countries.

I don't see it as a problem if a person I talk to about bitcoin doesn't know about it. you can't expect people to know what you know just because you know it. but if you want them to know or learn about bitcoin. just tell it, explain it on a way that they would understand it. what I see a problem is that when a person talking shit and spew false information about bitcoin without knowing about it and just following the crowd who hates it.

Indeed they are so many people who have absolutely no idea what bitcoin or cryptocurrency is about, like in my country there are some thick interior villages who have no idea about bitcoin they normally make use of fiat for their daily transactions, even if they would decide to use bitcoin they don't even have good network to operate with, also 99% of them don't even know how to browse on the internet, so there's definitely no way they can know about bitcoin if they don't even browse at all, but I think it's up to us to educate them about it, and make them see the bright side of crypto.

in my country i think less than 5% of people know bitcoin and note that in my country thousands of people use facebook, whatsapp and instagram and youtube and make purchases on the internet, so i can say that people from my country use social networks and technology. I wonder why people in my country don't know about bitcoin? and the only answer I have is lack of interest, perhaps because few people believe in making money on the internet or investing money on the internet

Not only that, there are still places that are not recognizing the usage of bitcoin because the government doesn't allow it to. There are also places that are not really innovated in terms of technology so we can say that the only ones that are using bitcoin are those who can access the internet and able to use technology with their own knowledge. But still, the knowledge about bitcoin is continuously spreading because of some reason like adopting, just like what happened when Paypal accepting bitcoin as payment. We are hoping that while technology is innovating the people are also gaining new knowledge and can understand the nature and benefit of using cryptocurrency.

Same situation here in my country only few are knowing about bitcoin even though most people here are using social media and because students are studying at home and uses internet the reason why internet coverage has widen up. But many still have no interest in bitcoin even though they seen some advertisement on social media about it, others think it is a scam. But I don't see it's our problem if they don't believe in bitcoin it's their lost not ours.

I would say that when I observe people around me (I'm from Croatia) majority heard about bitcoin but they don't really know even basics. Out of those that heard about it, most of them still have rhinos that it's some kind of ponizi/pyramid scheme made for sole purpose by the rich to steal money from the poor and naive.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but that's what many people here think. What surprises me though is how many of the them are in IT business (programmers etc) and should be able to understand bitcoin concept better than some average Joe, and no amount of reasoning can change their mind.

By looking at this we can see the importance of being informed and not being ignorant. I still regret not being informed enough in the past when Bitcoin has been launched and nobody knew about it.

Moreover, I have noticed that IT guys are overrated. Just because someone knows how to think algorithmically and write some code using a programming language, doesn't mean he/she is smarter than an engineer or a mechanic. Also there are so many branches of programming. If someone is a front-end coder, he might have never even heard about blockchain.

Many people ever heard about cryptocurrency or bitcoin through news or ads on the internet but only a few who really interested to learn more about bitcoin, we can assume probably around 1-2% of people worldwide know and own bitcoin.
Only a few governments that issued regulation about bitcoin in their country, such as the US, Japan, and Ukraine which recently the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation educate its citizens with the launch of an education cryptocurrency and blockchain television series.

With one study suggesting ~25 million cryptocurrency traders outside the USA & Europe, it seems quite likely there are over 100 million owners of bitcoins. Use that Opportunity to Help the growing community of Bitcoin By extending your time Explaining and encouraging them to at least check it our In Internet.
That would be the first approach and then Add them in social media and send them good things about Bitcoin and other altcoins.
In this action you are not only helping the cryptocurrencies but also those people that has been denied of opportunity to understand Bitcoin and Maybe invest in this market.

Even in our country only few people knows bitcoin because its hardly being advertise on mainstream media and the awareness of people about is limited that's why bitcoin still not recognized by majority of people. Only i saw bitcoin being show on our national television that being used on scam investments, so that's why the negativity carries it only to people's mindset that bitcoin is scam and that's what make it hard to for bitcoin to get a positive feedback. Nonetheless, the information and education will only be the tool to spread positive awareness about bitcoin to the public.

Yes i do believe in it  also, even here in our country i bet only few knows about bitcoin. Well its because we are one of the third world country and even we are now living in a modern world of technology still not the all population of our country has their own mobile phones, no internet connection that may the only way to introduce bitcoin. I am grateful to have a previlege of having a mobile phone and now adopt the new rising crypto investment.

Potentially, the reason why most IT specialists, programmers, developers, and other tech-savvy individuals cannot comprehend the significance of bitcoin, the reasons it was created in the first place, goals it aims to attain is because bitcoin is more than a mere software program. The thing is even if you are able to understand what code inside that program does, it won't tell you why it does so. For example, Satoshi has found a solution to the problem of Byzantine generals, he created a digital and scarce commodity that cannot be copied but can be sent to anyone in the world. Okay, great... But why do humans need it? Not everyone is ready to dive into a rabbit hole to find an answer.

If so, you should introduce Bitcoin or other crypto to the community where you live, and say something about Bitcoin, I'm sure they will accept it well if you teach them properly.

My belief is that the majority of Crypto is generally known in urban, maybe rural areas if only a few people know about crypto, this may also happen a lot in other countries including my country, not generally knowing about crypto.

But with the current sophistication of technology I think almost 70% people already know about crypto / bitcoin, sometimes people don't care, only certain people want to really know about Bitcoin.

This is not a problem if they don't know the bitcoin is. Why members here expect too many people know about bitcoin in their country? If this is a problem for you, then educate your society/country about bitcoin. Even if you educate them, there's no assurance that they will buy and use it because of the bitcoin's image in the news. Like in my country, bitcoin and other crypto-currency are used in social media scams as a payment mode or as an investment scheme like double your money in a month, so when they hear bitcoin, they will not use it even if they knew it. This is the problem because they knew about bitcoin, but the information they knew is not true.

Don't expect it too much since a lot of people are not familiar with cryptocurrency most of them are really not familiar with this because it's too complicated for them only people who have a background to technologies and people who really are interested to cryptocurrency are the ones who are really are into crypto and also not people fiat still the easiest way to use it can use offline and online transaction.

We really cannot blame them if they do not have knowledge regarding Cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies only lives within the Internet and people without access to Internet would really have no chance on learning them. One of the best way to introduce Bitcoin along with other Cryptocurrencies is by showing the results on what can be achieve if you have knowledge regarding them which is a great thing.

Well, it is a fact that in those early days bitcoin spread mostly among that group, and even now majority of people around me that are more knowledgeable about bitcoin and crypto in general are from that sector, and it is not a surprise. For me, thing that got me into crypto was mining part, and fact that you could make some money with your GPUs/CPUs , as back then (early 2014) I was really into PC hardware so for me that was kinda fun.


That's true, many simply do not see the reason why would they own any bitcoin. Whether for paying stuff, or as a form of investment as that's why majority of people are buying it for. Then there is a group of those that don;t want to admit that they were wrong because of ego, so they keep saying the same stuff. I was arguing with them for years on one IT forum, and almost none changed their mind. Despite all that, I still think that in these 11 years bitcoin spread more than even Satoshi or any other early people thought it will i such period of time, so I would say that we are ahead of the roadmap and,

i think that was a normal reponse that you will get if a person you ask dont know anything about btc but for the people that already know it they will respond to you in another way .

 all countries in the world have thier own percent of people that are not yet into bitcoin so if i were you i dont wanna stress myself much about this things . sometimes people are just late learner but for sure the adoption towards btc will soon improve .

First of all, I would like to explain very briefly what bitcoin is .
Bitcoin is a virtual currency, a cryptocurrency, based on blockchain technology.
Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto , an alias of someone who has kept his identity hidden until now.
Bitcoins is a cryptocurrency among a huge market of these, but it is the most famous for being the first known to people.
Bitcoins are listed on the cryptocurrency market, and can be bought and sold like a normal currency through an electronic purse or Wallet.
The difference between cryptocurrencies and euros, for example, is that the former are virtual and decentralized currencies , without being controlled by banks or institutions like traditional currencies. :P

Some of them who knew Bitcoin in the era of moribound popular Ponzi scheme MMM were disappointed when the scheme turned scam thus had a bitter experience about it and never bothered to acquire more knowledge on it, however it has been a difficult task to inform newbies because of bad reputations of Bitcoin by MMM investors, meanwhile there are a lot of internet users who had not enquire about Bitcoin thus there is need for rigorous public enlightenment to teach people on the benefits of Bitcoin this is can be achieved by a collective efforts of crypto enthusiast in our respective communities.

Only people who are in this forum can fully understand what Bitcoin is. Knowing how the mainstream media is giving wrong impression to its audience, surely people will stay away from it. There were only few platforms that allows people to gain right and correct and information about Bitcoin. Bitcoin is still in the early stage and gaining popularity more and more each year. Bitcoin will only be realized when mainstream and educational institutions provide good and essential information to the people.

It is the same like there are lots of people that do not know who Elon Mask is or know nothing about Binance exchange for example, what is synchronizer or how to raise wheat. In every direction there will be new facts and lots of information for everyone. And of course Bitcoin is well-known for those who is interested in money, profit and investments. For lots of people who are not interested in such things at all it is still something unknown and new.

Actually  even if they Know Bitcoin but the negative Crap only then sure no one of them will Use this Currency.
They will eventually Learn this but not today,Don't expect that every person you will met has a knowledge about crypto because this is not true.

Why do you call it the problem? Bitcoin adoption can be sudden. People need more time to learn about Bitcoin and understand it.

Yeah, it's true. I am from India and most of the people here thinks it's some kind of illegal money, which mostly work for criminal and other illegal stuff.

We can think that we are already in huge adoption but still, the majority haven't known yet about Bitcoin. Of, if even they heard the word Bitcoin as it was been talked about online but never know what is its role in our lives today. Total blindness still we saw around and we can't deny that because even on my family members never know as well. And the reason why the majority still not know about Bitcoin/crypto is that because many were also afraid to try due to doubts or nobody is telling them either.

Not just your country, it happens in other countries too many people are still ignorant of btc, for now the number of people who are aware and understand btc is very little compare to those are still unaware but even at that the btc awareness keeps growing steadily,
Compare to previous years btc has gain a lot of exposure, many people know btc now, if you look at the crypto Community, and as time passes many people will join the space.

It is not something that is surprising anymore I think, for me personally with the environment where I live, they are aware of the digital era that is growing so rapidly that they are not only familiar with bitcoin. In fact, sometimes they ask me about an investment project with a certain coin or token, and basically I don't know the project exists and is being developed in my country. It's funny, when cryptocurrencies are no longer truly anonymous these days but what is unfortunate is that they still argue that cryptocurrencies are a quick way to get rich.

We are a developing country here in Asia and it is sad to say that many of the elite knows about bitcoin and a small percentage of general public with nearly zero knowledge about it so I am now educating some of the younger people about crypto, I know I am no expert but telling them to read about it, its like helping them for their future.

I think many people stay away from bitcoins thinking it is some illegal thing.And majority of people in my country doesnt know about bitcoins and those who knows have only negative things to say.As bitcoin is reaching 20k ,many media articles might cover bitcoins then maybe more people might know a bit more about bitcoins.

Bitcoin is still a very new currency in the world. So we think it takes more time for some of the crowds to reach out and realize the convenience of using Bitcoin. Covid-19 is still happening and people are afraid of being in public contact and I believe Bitcoin will be the popular currency in buying and selling goods and people will know more about it.

All the countries are already plan to develop the crypto knowledge and many hunters are similarly enter in the market. I think 2017 it was growing well in the market so already many peoples are invest the Bitcoin. It is a big discussion in China and India because these two countries have huge population so I expect everyone know the Bitcoin. Once it is globalized  in the world it will reach all the peoples.

We have to understand if we encounter a lot of people who still have no idea what is bitcoin since it's still at the early stage of adoption. This is nothing new and it will still take time before we get to see more people know about bitcoin. Even if we are seeing news of bitcoin adoption, it's still not enough for other people to recognize it in certain areas. If you want to give an awareness op, then you can probably start by introducing what is bitcoin to some close people around you. But as I have said, it will take some time for bitcoin to be more known.

I'm also from Asia, I think the level of advancement in technology and human resources has a huge influence on the development of Bitcoin knowledge. Even though I think the number of people who know about bitcoin has increased, but only a small part of it really knows about the Bitcoin technology. Maybe a lot of people hear about it but they think it's just an online gambling because they don't have access to learn about it.

Most people have already heared the word bitcoin sometime, but these same people have never show any interest for it. Probably they don't even know bitcoin is a digital currency.
It happens because most people are guided by mainstream media and in many cases only popular entertainment programs, what means these people don't watch news. So they won't know what bitcoin is until these entertainment programs put crypto subject on their content. However don't feel bad about it. People just pay the price for their own ignorance and lack of interest.

I am not surprised that it is not that very popular yet because most of the governments are not yet ready to teach crypto currencies in their country and I didn't see any country yet that do this kind of stuff.

But maybe in the future, crypto currencies will be included in the curriculum and this will surely serve as a bridge for the people to know about bitcoin or other crypto currencies. This is what I notice also in our country as I can see that there are very few who knows about bitcoin and what is worst, bitcoin has been use for scam investment in our country so bitcoins image here is pretty bad.

There are only a few of my friends who know about bitcoin, and it’s also not entirely they really understand the benefits of bitcoin.
They just know that bitcoin can be for investment. But so far they could not make a profit from bitcoin. Because they think
it’s too complicated to learn bitcoin. They don’t have time to learn and understand what bitcoin means and how bitcoin performs.
They’re just focused on the field they’re working on right now.

The global adoption of bitcoin is still at its infact stage campaigns to create awareness are yet to be unveiled as no regulated institution has been vested the responsibility to sponsor the campaign sanctions from different financial institutions from different countries are also reasons why its yet to gain massive adoption

and the fact that the adoption is still small up until today. so you cant really expect that a lot of people will have the knowledge about btc or crypto. some may have heard it, but only at that point. they havent had the motivation to learn further about crypto. but i guess, with the integration of paypal, some of its users who are previously noncrypto users, will find time to study it. because without basic knowledge, some people will indeed see it as complicated. most of them actually dont know how to start.

It's amazing how those who heard about Bitcoin still think it's some kind of pyramid.
You can't educate everyone, but you can at least try to help your closest people understand it. They will be grateful one day.

A thing that surely we can't deny it.
And probably the reasons are;

*no internet
*no interest (heard it already but just ignored due to the scamming effect)
*capability status ( especially for third world country)

We could say it was very unfortunate but the reality is that not all have been seeing Bitcoin as an opportunity, the same thing that not all people wanted to become a businessman. So this case is possible and it can be the same situation in the coming years.

Nothing to surprise, it is only a certain percentage of the people in this world to know about Bitcoin. Mostly, they don't know, don't care, or even don't want to know about it. Why? because they still do not know the worth of BTC, how it works, and also they are afraid of the negative issues, and also risks in BTC. However, you can help by spreading the good news, not telling the or promising to be rich, but you can show the way by learning deeply. However, so far, the development of people and industries knowing about cryptocurrency is actually increasing, there are many more people know about BTC and cryptos. But, still not many as what they are not involved.

Just think of gold and fiat. They are all age old, and has reached this level through years and years of usage. With bitcoin, the usage is very small. Only after certain time period this will change, and the change will make a big impact on every market. Already it has grown, but in terms of real-time adoption it takes time. To determine the growth, bitcoin getting comparison to the history backed gold itself is enough.

In my region the sentiment are different, many people are aware of the currency but for the wrong reason. Bitcoin has done quite well for itself, in just 10/11 years of existing it has created a housename for itself. Many people are knowing about the currency daily. I find it funny that you're surprised by this fact. You should know that as large as the bitcoin community is, it is still a very tiny percentage of the world's population. A large percentage of world's population have no knowledge whatsoever of what bitcoin is.
A much larger percentage, in fact, have the wrong knowledge of bitcoin. Many have associated bitcoin with Ponzi schemes and have believed it's nothing but a scam. These people are even harder to preach bitcoin to because they have a formed but perverse knowledge of it already unlike those who don't know at all.

I even heard the news that there are countries that include bitcoin in schools and they discuss it and many countries have used bitcoin as a transaction tool, one of which is the United States. in my country bitcoin is familiar even though bitcoin transactions are invalid but people know that bitcoin can be exchanged for fiat.

There are too many people who have heard about Bitcoin but don't know what it really is. There is a good solution for this I think. If Bitcoin is educated as a lesson on universities etc. in most of the countries, I think it can be very beneficial. There are also online courses about Bitcoin too. Besides, when digital currencies replace fiat in the future, even people who are against cryptos are going to learn about cryptocurrencies to use it anyway.

Nah, I don't think "scam" is the reason why some governments are not into bitcoin, it is just that a precaution for them not to take any hype from what is on the trend. Besides, people are free to use any kind of currency they want if their country isn't that strict.

3rd world countries and old generations that are born in 70's below will always face this problem. A lot know its presence but how to use it is another story. I have encountered a lot of people that they have heard about bitcoin or crypto but they don't know where to start understanding it. And most of them, they thought that once you knew bitcoin, you can earn a lot of money, which of course is not true. And some heard negative news about btc, where hackers and scammers are in play in this technology. So they are afraid to touch this. That bitcoin is used in the dark web, etc. Ignorance is the common reason why people don't know anything about btc. If they will educate themselves even by reading via net, they will start to understand its true nature.

This happens everywhere, my personal group of friends, they all know about BTC because I have been in this for a few years now so they ask me whenever they have questions, but only ONE has actually invested in it (via some bank site in europe, Revolution? Revoluts? I don't remember), but hey, that's something. I advised him to get a dedicated wallet on his phone or on his PC but he's "too smart for that".

People are not taking BTC seriously, look at all the recent institutional money that has poured into BTC; the $50m in BTC purchase I saw just t oday by square speaks VOLUMES of what's coming ahead.

True. Because eventhough you thought you have a lot of knowledge and experience with Bitcoin, there are always uncertainties that will come along the way. Bitcoin is very tricky. You will think that you know everything that's need to be known about Bitcoin, but still there wil  always be something that still behind more deeper that's needed to understand.

I think those who are far from modern civilization, not very familiar with the global internet and communication are just ignorant about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Because nowadays reports about bitcoin and blockchain are often published in every social media, news portal. Again, there are many freelancers who are not very interested in bitcoin, they actually move away from bitcoin due to their own ignorance, they are actually accustomed to paypal, skrill, neteller these payment methods and they are very monotonous they can't really accept the change.

This is common with each and every country people. Bitcoin isn't promoted through any form of advertising. Even the common man could've known about it, if it was advertised. Whenever there is big rise in the market it gets mentioned on the media. So, it isn't possible for everyone to know or learn about bitcoin. The scenario will change if the governments in the country legalize to be used same as traditional fiat.

It seems that with this pandemic many people have started to find out what bitcoin is, I also feel this in my own area, because many people are starting to be curious about bitcoin.

Of course this is a positive value in itself for how bitcoin continues to develop, considering everything I think will also be completely digital, digital payments will be very necessary in the future.

Don't be alarmed by the negligence of folks or better still the lack of resources that is still hindering parts of the world from the global change in the economic world. I know several folks who still don't have a clue what cryptocurrencies are. Even folks don't know any thing about electronic payment system that exists at the moment. it's such a pity but I believe we can all do our best in exposing this technology to people whom we know because it's the future.

No, probably they are not ignorant but just a clever person who is afraid of risk. Bitcoin and investing in it are just for risk-takers, they are not and they keep that understanding since then. But this kind of mindset has a lesser chance to improve for they are absolutely a close-minded personality.

But anyway, that ignorance leads to scams. Their minds have set to its limitation.

If any people work in online first he know about bitcoin but don't know about crypto Currency. Our country don't accept bitcoin so many people don't know about it. Many people ask me about my profession i tell that i am trader then ask what is trade. I open bitcoin and price chart.

It's not a problem at all if they don't know about Bitcoin, their life, their choices. Maybe they've already heard it somewhere but they thought Bitcoin was just a joke. In the year 2016 when we've had a seminar about programming, one of the speakers talked about a little bit of Bitcoin, he said that we could have Bitcoin by mining it and I thought that it was just a joke and earnings there is so little.

But thanks to a friend of mine who introduced bitcoin to me in way I could understand it even more, and that's why I got here. Bitcoin will continue to grow and progress even without the majority knowing about it, so stop bothering about the people who don't give a thing about it.

I've been getting questions about Bitcoin more lately. I tell them to simply buy some on PayPal, say $50.00 USD just to watch such.

I also tell them to 'attic mine' in that only big data halls can you mine with ASIC miners now of any BTC/Crypto. So by 'attic mine'

I mean sell crap in your attic to make a rec room and improve your house value and stick it into BTC dust in case BTC does what

it so often has in the past and suddenly go up 8x or 16x again. Or go to estate sales and/or rummage sales and sell all the above

for less stress and more fun and likely, much, much, more profit than home mining for BTC just in case places like Citigroup and an advisor are

correct and BTC goes to $100k in 2021. Been taken better by 'newbies' in the past. I think PayPal taking BTC and other cryptos

took some of the usual FUD/Scam out of the concerns and conversations of newbies in 2020. We will see, but so far about 4 people

got some PayPal at least to 'stick their toes' into the crypto waters. :) I also tell them to remember we have had the ATH and then

the FOMO and now the FUD will start. (case in point Trump Administration saying they will have 'clarity' on crypto regulations in 4-6

weeks, deadline 5 days before Biden Administration takes office. So I tell them to buy and HODL and accumulate BTC dust for at least

5 if not 10 years. Again, seem to take advice better than in the past and again, likely because of PayPal's endorsement of crypto.

just like in my country, the government prohibits all transactions using bitcoin to buy goods or groceries, because here fiat is the main one, and in my country for millennials bitcoin or cryptocurrency is not in any subject or guide in high school.

There is nothing to be surprised about in a situation like that, it all depends on where you’re living, it is possible that there are people that wouldn’t know what it is, you’re just lucky that you got to know it before them. If they ask you what it is you just explain to them in any easy way as possible that they will be able to understand it. Trust me with time it’s no longer going to be something strange or new to them, there will be time they will be the ones even talking about it.

Bitcoin despite being popular and making news many still don't know bitcoin or at least what really is bitcoin. Most of them already heard things about bitcoin but they are not open to stuff like bitcoin, they always thinks that bitcoin is a scam or just a internet troll or a useless entity in the internet. There is no need to be surprised to know the fact that there are still many people who don't know Bitcoin.
Because the Bitcoin community is still very small, and there is also little news about Bitcoin in the local news.

In our country as well is having the same thought as your country as well, there only few people who has a knowledge about bitcoin because I think for them cryptocurrencies are not part of mainstream transaction and also our country is somehow left behind with regards to innovations and online technology that is why people here dont know the importance and benefits of bitcoin and other cryptos.

By including Bitcoin and its technology in learning materials at school or at university, I think there will be parties who feel disturbed by the existence of this material about Bitcoin. These parties will feel threatened that their future will not get a very tough opponent until finally evolution occurs like Nokia which was replaced by Android, or Yahoo which was removed by Google.

The party who is disturbed is the party who always takes advantage by acting as a third party or a company that wants to centralize everything.

I'm not surprised because even in my place, they don't even know the word Bitcoin because they aren't have any knowledge or experience in investing in general. There are many people around the world who doesn't know anything about it unfortunately. There are some though who heard it but just ignored it. There are some who aren't interested at all. Either of the 3, this scenario isn't uncommon because Bitcoin is around for just 12 years and counting. Few years from now for sure more and more people will know crypto and will try to use it.

Even though BTC and custom cryptocurrencies (https://www.mintme.com) have been existing for a long time, there are still people who don't know because that's what they have chosen. Many don't even know that BTC itself isn't "money" but an asset with monetary value. Time will say if people will open their minds and start knowing more about this great technology and "money" which is already a great part in our lives.

There are many underdeveloped countries where bitcoin is banned. As a result, people there don't know what bitcoin is. There are some developed countries where they are busy with Facebook and Twitter. They may not have heard of Bitcoin. There are also problems in developed countries. Those who know do not persuade others to reveal it. The question is constantly revolving everywhere, always, in all environments.

I think that is the case in most countries. Majority of people are still not familiar with Bitcoin or crypto in general, there is not enough knowledge and awareness. I"ve read somewhere that only about 2 million people in the world is using cryptocurrencies and that is really small number havimg in mind overall population. Among the 10 people I ask about bitcoin in my real community especially in my work environment, no one knows what bitcoin is. I took the initiative to tell them what bitcoin actually is, but since they are still quite confused about what bitcoin is, I can only tell them about bitcoin in general.

Frankly, there are some of them who are interested in knowing the use of bitcoin because it can be traded, but because they still don't know much about trading, I stopped a little and asked them to understand bitcoin first before they started their activities as a trader.

The conclusion is, there are still too many people in society in various countries who don't know about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This will be the reason why bitcoin cant be adopted globally as a mean of payment so that it will inhibit bitcoin adoption rate. IMO, the best way to introduce bitcoin is to make it featured/attached on a popular thing first.

Perhaps it is not surprising that there are still many people who are not familiar with Bitcoin.
Because little news about Bitcoin on social media and local news.
Therefore it takes a lot of promotion on social media and local news.

Here are some of the things that make people not to know bitcoin:
1) Lack of research: many people are very lazy to make use of internet to really know what bitcoin is all about,and how people can use it to develop their country.
2) illegalize: many citizens don't know bitcoin Because the digital currency does not legalized in their country, that make them not to have any idea on bitcoin.
3)Scam: many people still think bitcoin is a scam currency that can reduce someone wealth to zero level in their Investment.

I don't know what country you're from but, I think it's somewhat difficult to see someone who knows bitcoin when you're offline. But when online, you will find people from your country who has interest in it and also knows it. I don't see people when I go out my house. But only, there are a lot of people.

But if some of the things being said of $200,000 Bitcoin in say 5 years a $1,000 investment would be $20,000 then. So why not clean

I 'try' to point out I can really only 'nudge' friends and family in this kinda thing, but I think they feel I should have sat on them to make

them buy back in the day. So taking that in stride I now try to get them into BTC/Crypto via (i mean frigging easy) PayPal or Coinbase

and it feels pushy....so again they comment on my good fortune..but can't for the life of them see that Bitcoin being Bitcoin STILL

may pull its same stunts and go up 8x,16x, or whatever in the next 5-10 years.

I'm not sure even 'filming' them with my cell phone would convince their future selves that I tried hard enough.

Most of the people in the world stay away from the touch of current technology. A handful of people are accustomed to using technology properly. So even though most people know about Bitcoin, they don't know about its proper use. But now as the adoption of Bitcoin is increasing in different countries, people will soon learn more about Bitcoin and its use will also increase.

I see your point here. Some people just like to remain in their comfort zones and when talking about the financial aspect, their comfort zone is the conventional paper currency. They do not want to explore more and try other things like bitcoin. Maybe they know about it but they feel like it's too complicated for them that's why they just settle on what's convenient for them. Well, we cannot please everyone you know. We cannot push someone to use bitcoin just because we are using it. They still have their free will. What we can do now is to be living proofs that bitcoin shows a lot of potential and we already benefitted from it.

Not surprised at all. Blockchain is a new technology and still in its infant stage. Most people aren't interested in "new technologies" until it goes main stream. Some of them might heard of it, but didn't pay much attention to it. Others think its a scam and eventually forget about it. At least over here, most of the people know what bitcoin is since there are bitcoin ATMs in most of the downtown areas, and people are curious as to what it is and eventually learns about it.

Yes. Since internet is worlwide, i assumed that most of the people have heard about bitcoin already but never been aware about it's true usage and its advantages. And the fact that bitcoin is not adopted mostly in any government, then people are not force to know it and definitely its value. But with big companies that are into bitcoin right now, we will not be surprised if one day bitcoin will be a global currency as what its suppose to be use and not just as a pure investment only.

The growth rate of bitcoin was not affected by the covid 19 pandemic and prediction expect a larger adoption next year. The space is still growing with the help of internet and with time everyone will be reached.

In my country, the banks frown against bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large every  bitcoin or cryptocurrency transactions is at the owner's risk if you got scammed the bank won't listen to you.

There. You said it right. I think it's mostly up to the person why he or she knows or not know about something, and in this case, bitcoin. We are in a digital age already. With just a few clicks, you have tons of sources of knowledge within your reach.

The problem will rely on the internet connection. We cannot blame those who do not have access to that yet. Well, I think there are a lot of people who still don't know about Bitcoin. But what can we say about Bitcoin, if many still don't have the Internet.

This is nothing about politics, but education. The education system doesn't have any means of sources where they will tackle cryptocurrency. The fact that this is not part of the syllabus of the current curriculum, what do we expect from the generations in the past.

Just think that we are lucky enough to know something that you may never know in standard manners. If you can, educate someone for them to know what it is, and stop blaming others cause they are just as clueless as we before.

I think government has nothing to do with the idea that your family doesn't know bitcoin or any part of it. Knowing or studying bitcoin is depends on yourself or the person. If you want to learn and to know all about it, you will seek knowledge about it and you will learn to make profit on your own. If your family doesn't know about it and you want them to know and also make effort to earn, the thing you do that you introduce it to them so that they are also earnibg by themselves is the best idea. For me, personally I also teach my siblings all about it because I also want them to experience the things and earnings I am experiencing.

The reason behind that is our mostly peoples believes on paper money. They cannot know about the digital currency or they don't know how they transfers from one place to another within minutes.
They believe on that currency that has a physical appearance in the world. We can only see the digital currency but cannot touch and feel.

Actually, people who don't know Bitcoin usually rarely access the internet, because Bitcoin does not promote on television which many people see.
And it could also be that people don't know Bitcoin lives where there is no internet access. But with Bitcoin going up to $ 40,000 should most of
the world's population know it.

It is great that you are able to earn through the internet and through bitcoin but you should also be careful aa you've said that bitcoin illegal in your country. I think you shouldn't create this fuss that would bring you to your own jail cell as people might point you out to the authorities that you are using bitcoin. The fact that it is illegal in your country is enough to say that people don't know what bitcoin is there.

If you know its prohibited into your country but it doesnt matter yet you can silently get involved without even traced or known and thats the beauty of decentralized market.

This is true there are a lot of people who didnt even know about bitcoin and other token. I notice it in my country, most of them are the people who are living on the place that has a very low internet signals and also the people that is old enough that born in a year that is no gadgets and computers. That's because not all people in my country know or understand the digital world. all they know is the internet, limited to social media, not currency for investment or the like. maybe this problem is almost the same in every country, because bitcoin is intangible, maybe people who don't know about bitcoin also think bitcoin is a fraud.

Same situation here in my country and this is why I firmly believe that Bitcoin will never replace fiat currency. The popularity of Bitcoin and the crypto currency trading awareness are already reach high our country but still only 49% of them joined the investment due to perceived risks mentality from these digital assets which make them to not to join the investment.

But, after 2017 there has being a huge spike who has suddenly started to show interest in bitcoin could be because they now know about it and in 2021 it could just get bigger because after 2017 now they have more chance to believe that it can even cross 2017 and also cross 40k so this means the upside is huge in it.

Yeah, it is experienced by every crypto enthusiast. For many people, it is a "price ball" that financial people play with. If we put aside the technical part, Bitcoin is freedom of money and freedom from governments. Decentralized payments system that owned by regular people. Mostly of those people were the ones who are not using the internet but it can be for those who were not interested too. In my place not all of  them knows bitcoins and how it is being used because they had low to no chance of having it known due to poverty or such social tier were a big obstacle on having knowledge on bitcoins making them uninterested in the process.

Most people also use currency just as a survival medium to be able to buy food, shelter, etc and they don't make a lot, unless there are stores that accept bitcoin in their local they will rarely care about using it, let alone knowing it.

It is not impossible that there are people who don't understand or know it. Although not very often, I do meet people who have no clue about Bitcoin. But you brought something else up that might be of relevance. There are people who don't understand Bitcoin and refuse to learn about it let alone use it. Well, in my own not everyone knows bitcoin especially those people who can not afford internet to their place, they are not oriented to the technology that bitcoin has. I don't know if how much the percentage of people that has access to the internet but maybe only a few of them. But perhaps from time to time bitcoin will always well be known because it will create a trend when there were always an ATH and those early generations will most likely more involve in the technology like having a mobile phone.

Before 2015 I don't recall hearing the word "Bitcoin" or "blockchain" in real life nor in forums that I frequently visited nor in video games and social media. From 2015 to summer 2017, those terms were rarely used and few members of the family and friends heard about it from me but not really involved. By winter 2017 and the hype following ATH more and more people were talking about it, yet still limited. Now by 2020 and the new ATH, I see so many people involved in cryptocurrencies in general, holding many coins, few are trying to mine, some forums created subs dedicated for cryptocurrencies. In my country, the southern part is well more knowledgeable in crypto trading than the North, and not that crypto is not known up north but when we start looking at the percentage of people that know and are engaged in trading crypto. it's true that there is still a lack of detailed positive information about bitcoin. They mostly sometimes see only negative info circulating. But they have not seen so much benefit from bitcoin as a source of investment. Yes but we should indeed examine carefully what it does to us if we have no paper money anymore and if it is all digital and traceable. Paper money's best function was its privacy and anonymity. You take $500 from your bank account and just pay in cash all the time and nobody ever knows where, when and what you bought. Some of them even launched their own coin, but seriously why would you entrust your money with a person that usually posts half naked pics on Instagram? ... For them it is not about spreading the word because they understand decentralization, it is about spreading the word because at the end of their promotion you'll get a code that you should use to buy crypto in order to make them rich.

Crypto market is one of the best growing investment platform in the world where bitcoin is the best crypto currency among the crypto market. So it should be known to all people who are known to crypto market. Without having internet how will people known to bitcoin because bitcoin is the internet base crypto currency. So there are many people who don't have scope to operate internet they are unknown to the bitcoin naturally. So its nothing matter for bitcoin also crypto market because vast smart people in the globe have already involved in the crypto market.

This is due to the two facts people don't know about it because due to our government . Because government in most of the countries don't tell the people about bitcoin and don't want to do work in a way it should be. And another one is our education system doesn't tell about this that's why most of the people are unaware about bitcoin.

I believe that the majority of folks who invested in cryptocurrency were just intrigued and wanted to take advantage of the potential to make money by investing. If no one is seeking to enter the market, the market will remain stable, with only a modest proportion of 24 hour gain/loss. So I don't think that jumping on the crypto bandwagon is a terrible thing; it helps the community expand, and most of us will profit if we enter and exit at the proper times, It's fine to go FOMO with good research. On the other hand, if you don't do any research, you'll be in big trouble. You shouldn't enter if it's merely a very shitcoin that'll probably rug pull soon or devs will leave after gaining.

In here, the majority of people don't have any idea about it. Some people knows but they have bad impression on it, a scam or something.
Bitcoin is really good and will soon be adopted by many. All we need is support from anyone who has a wide knowledge about it to make us understand how it works, what its advantages, good side sides and profit that they can have. And also make us understand it's risk and other disadvantages, by having a seminar or education. A social media can also be used to explain it. By having famous influencer to attract people and be interested on it.
Because if they can't understand it, how they can use and adapt it.
 

Most of the people who know about bitcoin are young people who are passionate about new technology, while old people have very little understanding of the bitcoin market, many people think bitcoin is a scam because they heard incorrect information.  actually bitcoin market is still new so i think bitcoin will be more popular soon for everyone in the world.

This post has been up for almost 6 months, the biggest problem here is that no matter how big technology is, a huge number of the population (of the world) isn't capable of learning or able to learn about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, some numbers are the people who are not familiar with technology, people who are too old for this, and people who are too stubborn to learn anything new about the future, and that is why it is impossible for everyone to know about Bitcoin, unless if it's us who are old, maybe in the next 50 or 60 years I guess.

I know many people who thinks Bitcoin is scam. They don't believe in Cryptocurrencies and they don't even want to learn how it operates. Bitcoin is gaining popularity everyday, but I don't understand why some people don't still know about it. Although, many people are seeking for someone to coach them about the Crypto world and how it works.

Simply means that there still a big room for adoption and its true that there are parts of the world which people doesn't able to hear or know bitcoins existence and if they do then expect there might

be some influx of users that would jump in into this market.Adoption is on the move and as the years would pass then expect that numbers or the community would even go bigger and bigger as we go ahead.

Lets not just rush things up because we would really be heading there.Even though we wont really make it as a mainstream thing but at least we are seeing some progress.

Most of the people I my country don't have enough ideas about bitcoin and virtual cryptocurrency because most of the people here living below poverty line and they don't have enough knowledge about internet and cryptocurrencies. A few amount of people here know something about cryptocurrencies and few people know Bitcoin as a illegal source.

Not only your country's people guys my Bangladeshi people don't know anything about Bitcoin and they always spreading negative news about cryptocurrencies and it's uses. I am sure Bitcoin never legalize in my country.

If it has got some physical appearance same as the fiat now majority of the population would've known about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Even now there are people who don't believe bitcoin just because it doesn't have any physical state to feel. The technology wise knowledged people are much into cryptocurrency and this has to reach all levels of people.

Based on my personal experience. When I started off in the crypto space, I immediately engaged in leverage. Leverage did do me well in the early stage of trading. I was riding the uptrend, which mean all green in my portfolio. Things started to crumble when big drops came. I came to a point where I was already gambling. I started from 2X leverage until I was using x25 to x50. I ended up losing pretty much all of my crypto investments. It took me a long time to get back on my feet. I joined a few cypto community and learned that I was not alone. I've seen SO MUCH people who were in the same situation.

Going back to the topic, I believe this is a major deal on why big drops happen. A big chunk of new investors and very new in crypto and in trading in general.

Lesson learned, I am no longer using Leverage on the platforms I use.

Yes, it was not something new. Not everyone knows bitcoin. There are people who don't have an access on internet. Also not all people are open minded to accept the changes and modernization, and that people can never learn what it is that can make them stop spreading information or news about bitcoin.And also bitcoin was not a subject in school that can help educate others about bitcoin instead you really need to do the research about it if you really want to understand it.
And also there are countries that ban.

Most people in my country are ignorant and little educated.Most of them live in villages and villagers are reluctant to learn about modern world civilization.They think that online currency other than paper money is nothing but a hoax.They still fill the quota with money and keep it buried under the bed.

Don't blame me for saying too much, you should stop your grudge against the people living in the villages in your country, they are not receptive and not oriented towards creativity maybe their conservative but if they have guaranteed a life filled with satisfaction and no more asking, you should also accept their way of thinking. Not knowing about bitcoin can not be considered a sin, obsolescence will sometimes be a gift to reduce thoughts and calculations, sometimes knowing about bitcoin will no longer be comfortable and in return for work fatigue and burnout

Nono, jumping on the crypto bandwagon is totally fine. In a certain sense all of us did nothing else in the very beginning as trading even with little amounts is fun and exciting. The real problem is if instagram celebrities use their reach to promote ponzi schemes or the biggest shit coins on earth! That is the real problem. I am not disrespecting those who just want to throw their hat in the ring and participate in the market with fair means, that's fine. But luring your followers into a scam because you get paid well is a real asshole move that we don't need at all in our community!

There are many around me who know Bitcoin but don't dare to invest in it yet, the education they get about Bitcoin is not complete, they still believe in fud which spread from china etc.  sooner or later I'm sure many will invest in Bitcoin, the trend will definitely happen.

Anything that is of value to Bitcoin is welcome, and as in Ghana they have the interest little by little around the world the word of BTC will spread.

Yes, most ordinary people don't know Bitcoin. Although there are more and more people who invest in ideas every day, they still have no idea about Bitcoin. If you search for investment methods in the search bar, Bitcoin will not appear.

All of these can be handed over to time.Bitcoin will get better and better, and it will get more attention from people and countries.If its use is good, more people will accept it.

Nowadays, there are still some people who know about Bitcoin just know that it is a cryptocurrency, and don't even know what purpose it has.
