I hate that I cannot save money effectively because our government loves to inflate problems away at the expense of my savings... bitcoin and altcoins are our greatest hope in returning power back to working middle-class people.

My thoughts is that bitcoin is just a medium to help you become rich or financially stable, in the end you are the one that needs to utilize those tools given to you, what I mean by that is you do have bitcoin but you don't know what to do next so you are just stuck into hodling only which isn't helpful if you want to get financially stable. I do agree that bitcoin can return the power back to the working class but we all know that bitcoin is for everyone so even the ruling class can get in like what they are doing now.

Bitcoin is a coin and also an investment tool.
Some will use it as a coin i.e. will work for it or will sell something for it then spend it quite fast in order to buy everyday things.
Some will use it as an investment tool in an attempt to get rich(er).
And some will be somewhere in between.

You can "be free" tying together a couple of logs and floating on the ocean. But that may not help you much without a large stash of food and drink, and some tools too.
In a way or another, no matter how free we want to be, we go back to society and it's rules, absurd or not.

In this case, whether we like it or not, anybody offering goods and services have to pay taxes to the government under the form the government chooses to, which is usually their fiat.
So sooner or later Bitcoin interacts with fiat, whether we sell Bitcoin at exchange, whether we pretend to buy for Bitcoin, but the shop actually receives fiat. The cases the shop receives Bitcoin are seldom and need the shops do certain extra handling in the accounting, I guess.

Why thinking to much on it if you have money to spend then buy bitcoins if you don't have then work with it to gain more and more from it. And don't blame the government if you can't save since its up to you on how you handle your money. Maybe bitcoins and altcoins really our hope but all depends on how we take it since we need to do a lot of hardwork on crypto to achieve our goals here.

Bitcoin can have some meanings for people depending on themselves and their usages. For many people bitcoin is an investment asset just like gold they will hold it in long term to get profit out of it for many other bitcoin can be a key to freedom because they can do any transaction and none can track them ever. In my own idea, using bitcoin you can be free and rich both in same. Some other people believe, sooner or later bitcoin will take fiat's place. Generally, this can have several usage depending on yourself.

Actually "free" is not a premise that comes from bitcoin at all, it is a powerful adjective in the context and as citizens we always like to listen to it, but in practice it is something else, I would say that it is a good synonym for a part of the all of what using bitcoin really means.

On the other hand, we are living in difficult times, not only now, there are already several generations that have little saving capacity, it is a social problem not only in third world countries, it is global, even in some cases in some developed countries the capacity to save Savings may be lower than someone from the so-called third world, however it is a latent problem. In that sense, bitcoin should not be a solution to poverty, but rather an alternative means that is used as a bridge to bridge that gap.

The Middle class are quickly being absorbed by Inflation that are being manipulated. The actual Inflation, based on the goods that we actually use.. is much higher than the Inflation calculated by our governments.

So they are hiding the real inflation to keep their voters satisfied ...but they are slowly but surely killing off the Middle class. (We get less interest on our deposits and the price increases are absorbing the salary increases and effectively nullifying them.)

Real Freedom are money or currencies that are beating inflation ..... and since 2017 ...this has happened to Bitcoin. (Inflation Killer)  ;)

In the first place, bitcoin was just made in order to make hidden or private transactions in which the government will not be able to know or trace the transactions that you are doing but due to this function it also comes on some transaction fees as well. The bitcoin also an medium in order for you to become rich because as we can see, bitcoin has a feature of volatility in which it may pump or arise anytime and that's the thing you will be able to become a rich person.

it's pointless to criticize the government without proving your performance. all you have to do is prove that's all you can really show. collect as much bitcoins as possible, because the government has a duty to make you doubt the results you will get, so think about it all you have to plan carefully. do the best you can. to save bitcoin without you giving the government discounted interest.

I see it as a method to protect my money against corrosive fiat inflation which decreases my purchasing power and weak my savings each new year. It's also an extra income booster as it allows me to find earning opportunities on the internet, connecting me directly to anyone in the world making use of bitcoin. Opportunities like this which aren't disponible through fiat and its payments forms.

Agree totally. Myself and I am sure many others got into Bitcoin because the premise of being in control of your finances and being your own bank was our only hope of getting out of the broken financial system of this world.

It's an alternative to fiat financial system... a unique alternative for that matter.
Unlike digital fiat systems, Bitcoin gives users control/power over their funds, enables users take part in network consensus, free users fom censorship etc. True Currency system is supposed to be run like Bitcoin where the users rather than selected few determines how the system is run.  Anyone who understands fiat system would know its setup is more like a dictatorship. A Tyrants would desire such system than Bitcoin unless he/she is able to turn Bitcoin into centralized/opaque zombie.

There's a huge difference between Bitcoin and altcoins. Bitcoin is a safe and secure network with proven track record, altcoins are mostly scams and wild experiments that lead to nothing. Any altcoin that claims to have some important use for society must actually prove it on practice, otherwise it's just words.

How does Bitcoin give power to middle-class people? Its adoption is still very low, it's not replacing fiat currency. Exchanges are tightly controlled, so there's no cryptoanarchy going on.

Ofcourse but you know it's more like an added benefit when it comes to Bitcoins and how it has helped a lot of people achieve what they could never do in their conservative environment. The Governments keeps on imposing taxes and make new laws but people are the ones who suffer mainly. I do think that it can not only give you an amazing opportunity but can also provide you a wider scope for your business, which can help you in the longer run. It is indeed something that has helped people achieve financial freedom, it has even helped struggling families and it has also widened the power distribution. Plus I do think what's needed right now is the right education of people regarding Bitcoins, how it can be used in a right way so that everyone can get benefited for the same.

I totally agree with you in that bitcoin wasnt created to make us rich but to give us freedom. That is absolutely true and correct. Bitcoin took away power and control over our finances from the banks and gave it to the masses. Now, I can send money across nations with lesser transaction fees and shorter transaction period.
However, if there is a way for bitcoin to make you rich, I believe it would be unwise and unsmart on your part not to take advantage of such opportunity. Trading bitcoin has made quite a lot of people rich and if one can become rich by trading or hodling bitcoin, why then can we not do it?

Bitcoin community is more towards its profits instead of decentralization but we also have huge growth in the community, 5 years back no one knows about bitcoin but in 2021 almost 90% of the people heard about bitcoin even though they didn't know what it is. SO we are moving forward. Satoshi's vision is to bring decentralization while making payment and I hope it will become true some day.

Thats the only problem when you are eager to invest in bitcoin and yet you are in a country that prohibits cryptocurrency. Which country do you belong? If they regulated bitcoin and has only limited use of it, maybe you can still buy and hold it in a cold wallet. Since it can be a store value, keep it in a long term and you will still see your bitcoin as your savings and investment at the same time growing.

It is difficult to fight for something that will have no short term benefits like profits so they don't really care much about the decentralization agenda of bitcoin, but you are right, there has been a growth in that aspect despite people not really focusing on it because I believe that the push for decentralization moves forward together with the increase of people that is adopting bitcoin.

This is so true, many of my friends to whom I have talked about Bitcoin, they only see it as either a fraud, or a great investment with good returns, virtually none of the new comers see it as the way it is and the main vision for which it was created, to give control of funds 100% to the hands of users and not allowing government's or any third party to interfere with its control. Nonetheless, as Bitcoin grows, the vision will also be completed, as people will sooner or later understand its true vision ;)

Time flies and with that perspective changes, people are slowly leaning towards investing in bitcoin. This is a good thing that people are flocking towards bitcoin because they want the freedom to control their money combined with the pandemic that crippled the finances of many people.

Well, in the world we live in, money gives you freedom. So being rich and being free are related. A rich person is freer than the same person when he was poor, because he has more options. Although being rich does not always mean being free because you can be put in jail but I think you get the idea.

Well it makes people handle their wealth in a manner that keeps the freedom and the purpose change for each one of us. People find its freedom when they have their money that isn't controlled by the government and no one can take it from them but most of all the price keeps growing which makes a holder richer.

I think it is far deeper than just being free from the control of the government because in my opinion it is still superficial, I might be seeing things that you don't see and I might be wrong and that freedom was the final truth but who knows. Not to mention that not just handling their wealth better but it can also help them accumulate more.

It's both for me, and that's the reality, you can be free and at the same time make money out of Bitcoin because it's a store of value, but with the many institutions and whales coming things is becoming different now because institutions and whales are now controlling the supply and the price, Cryptocurrency is still our hope this technology is still young and there is still much room for progress.

Maybe true for Bitcoins but altcoins might not be the solution practically speaking because most of the altcoins have a life span during which they will reach a highest point but once new coins arrive in the market with better utility, they just vanish slowly. Like DOT is being called as the Ethereum killer, I don't care if it lives to the name given but it tells us that new coins will replace the old coins, except for Bitcoins.

Whether you are rich or middle class or even poor, I don't think Bitcoin does too much for any section of society because the middle-class and poor just cannot afford bitcoins at the current price. Inflation maybe is one problem that can be fixed through bitcoins though but that you can also fix via buying USDT or any stable coin because the currency of your country will drop in respect to USD if I understand it correctly, and you just need fixed value in USD to overcome the inflation.

 Honest Network participants are supposed to run full nodes and take part in full consensus without restrictions. That's power to the community/network. Participants can be anyone, by the way.
I think it's good to have all/most participants run full nodes and I believe satoshi wants that too.

Why not both? bitcoin could make you rich if you're holding for long while at the same time giving you freedom to send money across the world without any limit.
Although many people are considering it as an investment but doesn't necessarily means bitcoin has lost its benefit of giving you freedom and to be honest if not for its ease of use and freedom it offers, I doubt cryptocurrency especially bitcoin could make it this far, you got best of both worlds, can't really complain about it.

I don't believe so, most people who are getting into Bitcoin are those who actually want to make a profit out of it. I'm not saying all but most, because the unexpected surge in prices of certain crypto currencies gives off a huge FOMO vibe which is hard to resist. But yeah, it doesn't matter really, because as long as there are holders and demands, the vision will be fulfilled sooner or later :)

Even if you can not save more money because of your government, you can still use bitcoin and altcoin to convert your money to save it for your future. At this time, you have two choices to save your money in the other forms. One, you can convert your money to gold which is popular for normal people. And two, you can convert your money into bitcoin and altcoin, which can be your next investment. It is about how you can save some of your income and convert it into crypto to help you make money in the future.

There is a lot of correlation between being rich and being free. Bitcoin has made a lot of people rich, but at current high prices it has become a target for institutional investors. Bitcoin made a lot of average people very rich, if they were clever enough to find and hold on to it from the low levels years ago. Bitcoin is much easier to transport across borders and much less vulnerable to government interference through money printing. One of the biggest advantages is the fact that only 21 million will ever exist - unlike US dollars that can be printed in the trillions whenever the US government wants a popularity boost that also devalues the overseas debt that they owe. Unfortunately the low amount of 21 million, even with all the decimal places, will never be enough for all the tiny transactions that are performed day to day. Ironically as it becomes more concentrated into fewer hands it will become easier to track in future and lose some of it's anonymity allure.

And as you say, bitcoin is created to make us free. So why do we have to restrict our ways of using bitcoin? Different people, different purposes. The fact that people who try to become rich with bitcoin tend to abandon bitcoin after 1,2 years. As the result, the market may face a tremendous pullback which may take many years to slightly recover. Everything is relative about freedom and when you become a very rich person, then on the one hand you have more opportunities than an ordinary person, but on the other hand you already have less freedom in the other, as it does not sound paradoxical, and you will no longer be able to lead a habitual way of life, at least because of the issues of excessive attention to your person and security issues to protect against criminal elements and unscrupulous competitors who want to appropriate part of your wealth or your ruin. Bitcoin really wasn't created to create rich people, but Bitcoin is just a tool and everyone is free to use this tool as they see fit.

Well, I know what it means and I know it's illegal but rich or poor they were both doing the same thing and the only advantage of being rich is, they can get everything what they want but it has a price. If you have a lot of money you buy more Bitcoin to invest but investment requires knowledge and if you don't know a single thing about of what you have invested then it's useless.

Depending on our own use of Bitcoin, there are those who use Bitcoin as an asset like Gold. This can make us rich by collecting Bitcoin and HODL
in the long run. Because the price of Bitcoin will continue to rise with a limited supply and increasing demand. Then there are those who use Bitcoin
like the fiat thing, by buying the items we want, but the problem is that the number of merchants who accept Bitcoin payments is still small.
Moreover, there are still several countries that prohibit using Bitcoin as payment, this makes using Bitcoin as a payment still not working optimally.

That's how it is! I was in the same situation, thanks to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies I have managed to manage the consequences of living in a country with an inflationary economy. In addition to the crisis afflicting the covid19 pandemic. Honestly, it is not easy but with faith in God and trying to solve the day to day well I think that my life is easier thanks to bitcoin and the revolution that it has caused.

I think the same, in some countries the economy is highly inflationary, especially if the local currency is increasingly devalued, and instead of local currency, foreign currency is handled. I agree, bitcoins offer is freedom from the crazy monetary policies of our countries. In my country saving is just working anymore for the past 10 years. Effectively you are losing money if you do it, bank fees and inflation are rising while the interest on your savings account is falling. So investing into crypto currencies is the only real solution. And even if we don't make a lot of money by it, atleast we can store some value free from the government's.

If you are going into BTC for the long haul there should be no expectations of short term profit. I personally hold BTC as a hedge against a potential fiat collapse in the long run, and could care less whether or not it's currently trading at $1k or $50k.

The key is to value BTC not in fiat terms, but rather in terms of real adoption and fundamentals. At the end of the day, it is designed to be a unit of account that is completely removed from the distorted fiat economy.

Already people have gone from thousands to millions and some of them were able to make the millions to billions. We do have living proofs for all of this so this is not just statements from the mid-air. It is very important to note that, the inflation that is created by the government does not affect bitcoin directly. We do have some barriers in the process and thus bitcoin tries to hold itself at ATH all the time.
With the continued support from the investors and whales specifically, we are good to go with the journey of becoming rich and set free at the same time.

Sadly most people invest in bitcoin to make some quick profit. They think crypto currencies will make them rich overnight. But that is not the truth and some faces this realty harshly. They look for coins that are getting pumped and invest in those. In the end, the lose everything once they get greedy. According to you, it's created to make you free. But "free" from what?
My thoughts? Bitcoin is not like it was supposed to be. Returning power back? I don't see any "powers" being returned back. Look at all those regulations and strict policies that is slowly bringing bitcoin under the indirect control of the government.

If middle class people able to accumulate more bitcoins and other cryptos then they will have the freedom of spending their money in future but what is the situation now, those middle class people forget what is savings an investing so they are living from salary every months and there is no cash in their pockets at the end of month which should be changed by themselves to accumulate bitcoins and then fight against this inflated government paper.

Maybe you are right.  Satoshi knows well why bitcoin created and what is the real object. It's the most important thing that you point bitcoin wasn't created to make you rich it was created to make you free. It means everyone who works on BTC have chances to be free financially and bitcoin can make you rich but the rich is a limited word and financially free is more important.

Bitcoin is the key for us to achieve financial freedom from the government but it is also a good asset in an investment just like what most of the people are saying here in this thread. Actually, it is both, to make you rich and free, that's why I still don't know why many people hate it, those narrow-minded people. I know it's kind a hard to believe thing in the first place because of its price but once you have it, you'll believe it in an instant, the only thing left for everyone who don't have any cryptocurrency is to try it.

However, Bitcoin won't not make you rich in an instant, unless you've enter the market in the right time. There is no guarantee that this will happen for sure. It is possible to get rich by HODLING BTC for a long period, but no one can guarantee that. Invest only what you are willing to lose no matter how much you believe in BTC.

I don't really see Bitcoin being created to make me a rich guy (unless of course if I have bought some during the time 2 pizzas cost around 10,000 BTC). It's just a bonus for me if I become wealthy later on. What I definitely liked about Bitcoin is that it's deflationary and free from third party control like the banks and government because it's running under a decentralized blockchain technology. I had to admit that my bank account is always "almost" empty, as I usually use it as a "withdrawal gateway" purpose, as I put much of my savings into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

We can't just let the greed of humanity be ignored, that is why we have such an unbalanced world and thats going to keep popping up whenever bitcoin is the subject. That is right. People seem does not accept if they must hold bitcoin for a long time because we do not know when bitcoin price can increase and when it will stay at the current price. As we see today, as bitcoin price does not break $60k-$61k, that can make them feel not right. But if they learn that bitcoin price is not always moving fast, they will not think much about that and only hold it for more.

If you keep invested in Bitcoin, then it can definitely make you wealthy in the long term. But the point to remember here is that it will not happen overnight. I made my first investment in 2014, and it has been almost 7 years since then. I had the patience to wait and I have benefitted from my decision. On the other hand, most of the others would refuse to wait for more than 1-3 years. Unfortunately that is the mentality with some of the new users. They expect the Bitcoin prices to go up always and get panicked if there are temporary fluctuations.

So since you found Bitcoin, hope you been able to save more than you where saving or was not able to save before? I believe bitcoin has really helped most that have found and invested in it for years now and this is not just the middle-class people because as we have seen in recent past, big corporation and High net-worth people are now investing in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for the profits they can gain from it. If you are not Financially rich, you cannot be financially free.

Precisely. That is why everyone loves Bitcoin and even altcoins because they are far from the regulation of the government. You can have all of your saving without having any taxes or whatsoever except on transactional fees when you trade them but this was nothing compared to taxes. Besides saving your money in a form of Bitcoin could even generate profit in a long run because of the volatility. There's a lot of opportunity in crypto it can even make someone wealthy in just a matter of time, so yeah I believed it was hope for everyone.

Cryptocurrency in general offer some kind of anonymity, they provide you with the ability to save/earn money without having them deposited to a bank whatsoever. On the other hand, Bitcoin isn't exactly anonymous, its transactions can be traced back, while other coins such as Monero provide better security features.

What's concerning me is how to cash out your earnings. I'd prefer not to withdraw from an exchange to my bank account, however I don't see any way to avoid that.

I definitely ended up saving a lot more. Before bitcoin I had some money that I saved but it never really increased the way I wanted and it was just sitting there and over time it became worthless because in my nation inflation is high. Which is why bitcoin was awesome, it is both pegged to bitcoin and dollar increased against my fiat currency and on top of that bitcoin price increased as well so there was a reason for me to actually start saving money.

I do have more money saved aside than ever before, I still need to do like a 100x to stop working, but it is at least there, back in the day I never had anything like this neither, even though the current one is small, the previous ones were even smaller and they went lower instead of go higher. Now all I have to do is keep saving money and putting it on bitcoin for another 10-20 years and I will be a retired rich old dude.

Savings dont exist if they are being reduced in value every year, that is a problem.   When I was young they gave us 10% interest returns on the money far above inflation for me as I was waiting on technology prices to drop so that worked for me.  Right now technology is not that much cheaper over time and savings are wasted instead of being useful capital in an economy.

Great title, the value of being free is ironically far in excess of the idea of being rich but not free.    Capitalism works because it enables society not just the rich as many think to label it and so I will always be looking for Bitcoin to enable all people to be more free then they would be otherwise if not for its existence.   If BTC doesnt help society I dont think it succeeds even if the price is higher it needs to keep improving efficiency in any way possible for sure.

The current price boom, I guess is just a pavement or a stepping stone for bitcoin being a globally accepted currency. Expense is one thing that will rile in people to buy in and keep theirs, so it's only logical for the price to jump this high from the measly cent per piece it was in the past, that being said, I can also be wrong and bitcoin may become a store of value as strong or stronger than it is today, only time will tell.

For now that adoption isn't fully functioning, holding it is the best way to maximize it once it is fully operational in terms of having access in many physical transactions or payment transfer,  take advantage of this time to accumulate and get freedom later of using it since we have already buy enough at cheaper prices.

Bitcoin was actually the greatest hope we had in returning power back to every human in all classes (lower, middle, or upper class) because 99% of all altcoin are here to cheat and give empty promises.
But if we look deep into the concept and the word said by Satoshi when he created Bitcoin, we can consider Bitcoin as an asset created to make people rich because it can use in many ways (as an asset, investment tool, hedge fund etc).

Indeed, we have our freedom to live sustainably because of cryptocurrency. Riches will follow if you're doing your money making independently without being controlled by government, and that inflations was just a crap in times that you're enjoying the wealth that you have from bitcoin.

For the most part what you are telling is true but capitalism to be successful you need to have a society with wealthy people who have the ability to invest or has the ability to procure loans and for that you need to provide guarantee by pledging assets and that is how you can compete in a market and when you mess up you end up in debt. When it comes to efficiency in bitcoin, the price has nothing to do with its efficiency and we are still in the initial process of developing it further and we might reach those levels in the future.

Bitcoin can work in many ways I guess. It may be a way to escape poverty for some, an additional income or a security for the future. You have all the freedom to do whatever you want for your bitcoin, as long as it benefits you, you can continue what you're doing if you think it makes you feel good and it feels right. Just don't be decieved and end up losing all your bitcoins, holding is very necessary nowadays since the value of it is continuously growing. If inflation is the problem for your savings you could've just kept them in dollars or euros, crypto isn't the only possible choice here. As for returning power back..as much as I'd like to believe that and while crypto indeed gives some opportunities in terms of freedom, it looks like governments are catching up quickly and trying to take control now. Also, anyone can buy crypto and seeing that lately the upper class also became interested in Bitcoin, they can buy much more coins than the middle and lower class, which will only increase their power.

Op, Bitcoin has got many different usages but everybody in this world has become too much helpless because of the pandemic that they are rushing towards new opportunities which will bring them some fast money in their pockets. It was made to make us free but ultimately, we will need to show our holdings to the same government you've complained about in your post, so it is nonetheless centralized now as you cannot 'hide' yourself and your transactions in a way you could do 5-9 years ago. Bitcoin is primarily intended for the purpose of creating a decentralized planet where territories and connection aren't a problem in terms of transactions. At least from my perspective, I do not know if Satoshi ever had in mind that his creation will grow this huge not only as an asset but as a store of value as well. Sure, the early adopters may think otherwise, but the fact that Satoshi hadn't placed any feature to support bitcoin's scalability is enough evidence for me to believe that he doesn't know his creation will be this valuable.

Well, the idea of the creation of Bitcoin is not really to make someone rich but to have a seamlessly fast transactions concerning no third party due to its decentralized feature. But as time goes by, the price of Bitcoin have gone to incredible increase which makes people think that getting into engagement with Bitcoin can make someone to get rich by means of investment and trading as well. Its depends on how you use your bitcoin, if you want to get rich because of it, then you can make it with hard works but we can also use it if you just want to be free, free means doing your wants without any limitations, or control from someone like government.

Bitcoin is the answer for people who wants to store their assets without any forms to fill up unlike when you're storing your money in banks. My thoughts exactly. Fiat money is controlled by the government, so what you do with the money is actually your footprints in every step that you take. Every trasaction is recorded so there isnt anonymity. Unlike bitcoin, it gives you control of your "savings". What you do with it depends on you alone. Moreover, your identity is practically secured, transactions just consist of your wallet address. Bitcoin isnt made to be "just" a coin, it gives the user freedom and control of the coins that they own.

I got your point as cryptocurrency is a decentralized system and no third party is included here, so you are free to do whatever you want on your money, you may control your money anytime without the acceptance of the authority. I think the idea of "money doesn't buy happiness" was coined by someone who never felt the real poor life. In poor life you have so many things that could go wrong that I rather be rich and cry in my lambo then be poor and feel scared about being left homeless. I mean sure there are reasons to be upset in rich life as well, Steve Jobs was one of the richest people in the world when he died and he got cancer and even though he could have tried to fight it off, he knew that there was nearly no chance he would win and his latest days would be all sick and in bed, so he just gave up.

There are times like that when you are super rich, but you could also be Warren Buffet drinking coke and eating French fries everyday and live to 90 and not have that much problem in your life as well. No very poor person has a chance to be happy for long term, rich people at least have that possibility.

Although Sathoshi has created Bitcoin with aim of first fully decentralised currency that runs on trust system or concesus mechanism of POW but he is also holding 1 million Bitcoin not only with the aim of freedom?He is among Forbes list of Richest person on planet and that because of bitcoin only.So it is how you use it.

I also think so that there is a problem with money, namely, that money simply loses its value and it is not very profitable to save money now. I chose this strategy, I just make money and spend it on the necessary goods for life. I also spend part of the funds in cryptocurrency and keep BTC and some altconiv. It is difficult to say what exactly will happen next, but at the moment I believe that I have chosen the right strategy.

That's very true, if I put all of my fiat to savings account last year, and kept saving 10% of all my income towards that and kept it going up and up and up that would have resulted with nearly 10% return this year and that's a damn great thing by the way, that's a great increase in the fiat world, nobody makes that kind of return in nations like USA or UK and whatever, but you know what the inflation here is?

It is nearly getting to 50%, they will not tell you this, they will hide this from you and official places will say like 15-20% at max, but the reality is 50% and that's why all of my money became useless. Those "get rich real quick" mindset has been going on since Bitcoin pumped to $100 in 2013 and it has been going on till now. Honestly, majority of the people invested in Bitcoin sees Bitcoin as an investment tool that could make every holders rich. I don't usually hear like they're using Bitcoin to buy product or pay for service so Bitcoin could grow it's adoption as a currency used for everyday transactions, I know there were people loves doing this, but there's like 60%-70% (my mere calculations) who has been invested just to hold.

Anyway, the OP title is correct. Bitcoin has been created to make us free from traditional baking system and any third party companies when doing transaction from another person. Becoming rich with it is just an incentive for trusting this technology.

Bitcoin is made for having an alternative currency for fiat currency, as what your title has said, bitcoin wasn't created to make you rich, yeah Satoshi Nakamoto doesn't have the intention to make us rich from bitcoin because its value at its very first launch is very cheap but now a lot of things have changed and a lot of people are now rich because of bitcoin. Bitcoin was not created to make you free but make a currency which is immune to infaltion ,manipulation and control . And it will not give power back to working ecasue the rich has understood that they need to buy and hold BTC, which means that in purely BTC run world there would be BTC rich and BTC poor people as it is now.

I agree with you. With Bitcoin, we are free to send money anywhere and to anyone without intermediaries (peer to peer). Besides, using bitcoin to pay household bills is very practical and easy. But the practice now is, someone who buys bitcoin today hopes to get rich. they buy bitcoins because of their volatile value. they think that the volatility of bitcoin can provide quick profits.

Bitcoin's offer is freedom that we don't have with Fiat currencies. We are all grateful here to have a tool to save money with outside of the reach of governments and central banks. While in terms of crypto currencies we might not be rich, we still will get rich in terms of fiat currencies. As long as countries are constantly issuing debt and print money, their currencies will drop in value. So if we eventually convert back to fiat or maybe buy directly with bitcoins we can get rich.

This is the problem with the people who use bitcoin and that is why it is great as an asset but it is not as a means of currency. People put fiat money into bitcoin, the price of bitcoin goes up, they take out more fiat money and they continue their life that way. Most of the "dreams" is about buying a crypto (could btc, could be alt) and in the end they want to take out so much fiat out of it, get so rich that they want to be able to live a financially free life thanks to the profit they made.

However reality is that bitcoin wasn't created because of that, it was created to be a currency, which means instead of using fiat, you should be able to use bitcoin, that was the starting idea. I guess it can be both depending on how you learn to utilize or manage what you have, in order to get rich or financially stable through bitcoin you have to hold it and make use of it accordingly like any other asset you have, it can also be liberating when using it to transact or pay without hassle of bringing bulk of cash because its virtual money you can use it easily and also no one can be responsible to it but you.

I do not think that we would be going back to times when money wasn't created, that is way too long ago and that was barter and we are not achieving barter with crypto. I think it is going back to times when there was gold and silver used for payments, that seems more accurate.

I do believe that back in those days not everything was awesome, there was definitely some problems but the reality is that it was definitely better than what we have right now. Even when fiat when first started, we used banknotes but that wasn't that bad, why? Because, we didn't had the understanding of "debt" we have today and we didn't had credit cards just yet and we were all tied to gold standard so it was all good. I do believe that you can do both at the same time. You do not need to be poor to have freedom, you do not need to be rich and in shaggles neither, you can be a rich and free person. I started using Liberty reserve that time but it wasn't for long either and then I got to know about Bitcoin briefly. Although confusing in the beginning, I loved the irreversible and anonymous nature of bitcoins.

A lot of people believe that bitcoin was made to make an average individual rich but that's not true but it's just a bi-product of the actual purpose. With popularity came the demand for Bitcoins and that helped the price.

The main function of bitcoin is as a currency or means of payment that adopts many different innovations from fiat currencies. One of the things that bitcoin offers is decentralization and transparency where no single entity can control the network including the government. Bitcoin is completely worthless if no one is interested in owning it and trading it. Bitcoin is a community owned asset whose price is determined by supply and demand. As far as bitcoin has value, people are free to think that bitcoin allows them to make huge profits and make them rich by raising the price. But they should not ignore the risk.

For me it's the same, if you have more money then you're more free to do what you want as long as it's moral and with in the boundaries of the law. It's not that good that we invalidate people that wants to get rich with bitcoin or any cryptocurrencies for that matter, they want to be able to buy anything they need and want, isn't that freedom too?

This is so true. Bitcoin's main goal has never been to make some people or all people rich. And it will never be. Bitcoin has a completely different system compared to fiat currencies like dollar, euro etc.. It gives someone the freedom of managing their funds completely. You are your own bank when it comes to Bitcoin. You don't ever need someone to help you about an action to take like it is happening for bank customers. You manage all of your actions.

However, governments started to regulate cryptocurrencies and they started gaining control over people's transactions. From now on, people can't make transactions completely anonymously in some countries. This prevents people's freedom to use Bitcoin in the way they want. I know that governments want to prevent some people from laundering money via cryptocurrencies. But they are harming one of Bitcoin's main features also.

If a person believes that Bitcoin could make him instantly rich, then he's on the wrong track. It will surely make him create his own big expectations on it without knowing how Bitcoin really works as an investment. It needs a long process of learning and understanding since Bitcoin investment has a huge risk due to its volatility. Bitcoin  ould make you gain a good profit but it will surely take a long time.

Someone said it’s a “poor-avoidance scheme” or another person sees it as, “a get-rich gradually scheme”. To all of these, I agree. On the other hand, we should stop telling folks the purpose of bitcoin. I mean, it means a lot of things to different people which is totally find. Folks should be left to develop their own operational objective.

You're fantastically right. And my government tried everything in their power to have it scrapped but its obvious that bitcoin has developed beyond their old system of government.

I agree with this, Bitcoin will help you rich but on how to manage it is in your hands because some people don't know how to manage their earnings well that make them broke.

Bitcoin was developed to give everyone freedom on their own money. On what they want to do with it, without anyone regulating it. Because of being free, it depends on how you manage or utilize it and become rich. Because of that financial freedom, people can be stuck on holding, spend it, but some people use it as an investment.

Having it to do both is not such a bad idea, btc gives a form og freedom to its users as well as make them to be financial comfortable as well, the former may not have been the sole purpose of btc creation but unfortunately it is impossible to for the value not to increase because of the value people place on it.

Since Bitcoin also functions as an investment/trading tool, It is possible that Bitcoin can make someone be rich. Sure, there is no guarantee about this, depends on how good the individual is in managing his/her Bitcoin. Successful trading or investment requires many factors; including sufficient knowledge, proper strategies, etc. However, we cannot deny that there are people who successfully be rich through Bitcoin investment or trading. So, it is wrong if you claim it isn't created to make people be rich. In reality, it really happens.

^ Definitely right but BTC did not promise to anyone to make it rich and probably other people thinking that way. BTC was created just because of the purpose to alternate the fiat money when it comes to transactions. But other people saw that it makes profitable, by holding to it and store value and also in trading they saw the potential of making a profit, so we cannot deny the fact that BTC is also profitable or made people get rich. That is it, it was created to make us free from our government but they found out that much better to get profit too.

This is so true honestly. Bitcoin's main goal has never been making someone rich. It just depends on people's investment strategy to really get rich. Bitcoin has always aimed to give people the freedom of making their transactions anonymously and without needing the help of someone. For example, people were going to pay for something by using Bitcoin and they were going to do this in a digital environment like mobile phone.

The advantage in the technology and economy of BTC will always be in those who have more money to invest, because they will get results quickly, especially in investment, but they have to have an investor culture, something like Warren Buffet's style, for as regards that if you know how to make or work bitcoin you can get rich and have financial freedom.

Thats some of the benefits of engaging ourselves in bitcoin. We have the freedom to do what we want without the need of third parties. Its up to us if we want to use it as currency or as an investment since the price is high volatile and good to take advantage. Before, im just relying on banks to save money, but now I have the full control with high interest, thats what I like best.

I think it depends to the person who will handle bitcoin or cryptocurrency. At my young age, me and my friends make this free. What free? Free from buying what we want like new android phone, buying food that we want aside from the food that we bought with the allowances given by our parents, buy clothes and other staffs that makes us happy at our age. As I get older, it does not really make me rich but it helps me to be financially stable as well my friends which happened to earned more and gained more than me through bitcoin and altcoins.

Well way back 5 years a go mostly the purpose of bitcoin was only as a payment method, no investment at all since it was really fast and less fees because before sending money is really difficult and also it has a high fees also it is not transparent but now when the bitcoin came that could be track anonymously and also less fees but it was used in illegal transactions thats why most people before said that it was a scam but it isnt.

In this case, whether we like it or not, anyone providing goods and services has to pay taxes to the government in the form the government chooses, usually their fiat.
So, sooner or later Bitcoin interacts with fiat, whether we sell Bitcoin at the exchange, even if we pretend to buy Bitcoin, but the store actually receives the fiat. On the other hand, we live in a time. difficult times, not just now, there have been generations of generations less able to save, it's a social problem not only in third world countries, it's global, even in some cases suitable in some developed countries. Yes if we use BTC it will help us to have financial freedom and not be controlled by any 3rd party.

This world doesn't prioritize middle class, people don't prioritize middle class too, only elite people are on top of the world.

There was Soviet Union created with the idea that everyone is equal, everyone should live the same way and "enjoy" the same quality of life. For this reason, they closed the borders and weren't showing people what was happening in USA and Europe, people couldn't visit these areas, Soviet Union was closed! When you are in borders and can't see life in other countries, you have no idea what's happening there and especially when the government brainwashes you, you then believe that you live the best compared to other countries. People were thinking that and were happy because they didn't know much, their life was limited and they have never seen what its like to live anywhere other than Soviet Union. People were working, things were collected and then shared according to what needs each person had. But it didn't work, system failed because humans are egoist and that's normal.

Even bitcoin, it wasn't created by average Joe, i.e. human from middle-class didn't created it.

Bitcoin wasnt created for sole purpose on saving up certain state or class of people.This is for everybody into those who do love decentralization and anonymity and it cant really be denied.
Bitcoi wasnt created to make us rich but we cant deny that it is one of the benefits specially to those people who had believed when it is worth nothing or simply been starting.
We are free when it comes to our finances but doesnt mean that we would really be saving up ourselves to losses and we know that its really volatile.
We do have different impressions but for sure those things mentioned above are in common.

Complete freedom and control is the purpose of making bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, unfortunately there are too many obstacles especially from many countries that are still banned bitcoin so it is difficult to use directly like fiat, the fact that currently exists is bitcoin is mostly used for trading with the hope of profit so the goal is for freedom has not been achieved.

Bitcoin was not created to make us rich and in fact many people have become rich because of bitcoin and freedom because we have complete control over ownership and also financial freedom, besides the transaction fees are cheap, practical and fast because it is digital. and also has its own freedom because it does not have access to or is affiliated with a bank and it is also very profitable for me because I can make transactions at any time without having to wait for bank hours.

and for me to invest in bitcoin because it can be used to protect the value of the assets I own rather than just being kept in cash which is easily eroded by inflation.

People who come up with thread titles like this clearly have a lot to learn about life and finances. Bitcoin doesn't make you free at all. Just like a dollar or a peso does not make you free. Accumulating enough of any currency that can support your desired lifestyle is what gives you the freedom in life. Every currency is just a store of value that we exchange for goods or services. Bitcoin doesn't produce anything either, unlike investing in a company that produces goods or does something for people, which can then return it's profits to shareholders (aka the owners). The only way the value of your Bitcoin goes up is if you trade your local currency for more, or the price changes due to factors entirely outside of your control.

Right but for only few people, they don't really care about the purpose you are talking, majority of investors buying bitcoin are mostly for profit to become rich and financially stable this is the sad fact but we cant do something about it, some other people are using bitcoin to hide their wealth and to avoid tax thats why most countries prohibiting bitcoin because they cant control it unlike fiat.
