Title: What Practical Advice For A Beginner Trader?

I tried trading Bitcoin a couple of years ago but quit after I lost $300. What advice do you have for me if I decide to start trading again? Thank you!

Invest in knowledge first before joining the crypto industry. Bitcoin is not an investment but a currency to trade.

Before you start trading, ask yourself first if you already know the fundamentals. Did you learn from your previous mistake? You can't just start trading again just for the reason of earning money, if you don't know how to read the charts and candlesticks properly, then basically you are just gambling. If you are confident to trade now with your own skill then you should start learn how to control your emotion when some people spread fuds, or someone that causes you to hesitate in following your trading plan.

Don't be afraid to take risks and importantly, don't afraid to lose. Nothing will happen if you live with doubts and not able to learn.

*being committed to your dreams/goal
*willing to listen to advice
*willing to change their behavior.

There are a lot of challenges as a beginner and it is a need for us to win. Lastly, have a POSITIVE mindset.

start with small amount and try to get it larger before investing larger amount. Invest only what you can afford to lose.

there is a lot of good information posted here, go through them first.

Use technical indicators and stop loss. Technical indicators help you not fall in emotional trap and stop loss help you not lose what you made.

1. Actually do research before immediately diving in
2. Probably trade using a virtual portfolio first. (look: eToro virtual portfolio)
3. Once you feel confident, start with a small bankroll
4. Accept the fact that you wouldn't grasp it in a single month, and that it will take a good amount of time for you to get a hang of it

Invest in knowledge first before joining the crypto industry. Bitcoin is not an investment but a currency to trade.

I feel like this might be a good thing to expand on. I'd say also get used to sending funds and knowing some parts of how things work with bitcoin and any other coins you want to trade to help you spot fuddy articles.

Also, look at some basic trading strategies and see how the markets respond to them, look at forex, stocks AND crypto if you're looking at graphs especially as you can work out the similarities and differences.

Try and work out how much you'd like to invest and put about 0.1% onto an exchange once you're comfortable with a strategy, then try to trade it up over a few months and see how it does. Pick a size for each trade (I'd recommend 5-10% loss max of the 0.1%) and look at analytics from the exchange to determine your win rate.

Know what you want to trade, do your own research from sources and references. Follow your preferred crypto media channel. and most importantly, you certainly don't fall asleep with fomo that plays cryptocurrency with the lure of big profits in an instant without giving an explanation of the risks.

and the last thing you need to inculcate in trading principles is to choose the right crypto based on your love of cryptocurrency growth. not on the basis of urgency.

Probably the best advice I can give is that whenever you feel you are ready to trade the market you take an additional three months before you do it, it is very easy for people at the beginning of their trading careers to get really cocky and think they know it all and it is precisely that attitude that at the end costs them a fortune as they think they know everything the market can throw at them only to be surprised and lose everything when they are unable to understand what is it actually happening.

How much the capital you used for that trading? This question is to know how big your $300 loss is per your total trading capital.

If you are bad at trading, HOLD!

Bitcoin is in a macro bull trend (years) so HODL will help you see higher highs to take profit. Obviously, don't borrow money for your hodling. Bitcoin is a speculative asset, has serious ups and downs.

Two charts show same thing. Bitcoin is in yearly bullish trend and with same amount of fiat ($), you will be able to buy less and less Bitcoin amount over time.

As a  beginner trader, it is best you understand the market properly first, don't trade on multiple pairs at a go, try to master a trading pair first before you try out another.

Also you should learn to watch your emotions when trading, some people will say you should not trade with emotions and that's the truth. Trading with emotions can cause you loses.

Well, can I ask you --are you fully oriented on how trading will work, and what are those analyses and strategies that could be used?
Trading needs to invest more skills and knowledge before you will be diving in, it needs either fundamental or technical analysis so that you have a market price movement reference that can speculate accurately based on the market flow. If not, you will heavily suffer a huge loss for sure. Because trading is not a trial and error, it will always involve cash, you can practice also using it on paper or a demo trading.

Start with little amounts first.

$20, $30 or $50.

Any amount that you think is little, start with it and learn from the experience as you trade. It's okay to lose with such amounts because the knowledge that you'll have from the experience can be applied to your next trades in profit.

I know that all traders in  bitcoin trading are aiming to earn, but some of them forgot that lost is part of the game in trading.
Now, if you lost that means there is something you need to develop in your way of thinking about doing activity in trading. Besides,
you've been doing it for a couple of years anyway.

It could be;
  • Demo trading
  • Copy trading
  • Study and research trading analysis stuff
  • Egaging different crypto trading commonunity(not the hype)

If you aren't ready yet, I suggest you invest for while in Bitcoin and hold it until you will know how to trade.   Trading needs more time before you will consider it is a good opportunity and have potential in trading, but in fact, if you are in actual trading, you can't manage your self.

"If you are not up to learn to do it, just hold your coins."

It's just what it means, no secret to that because every holders are already profiting without even trading. Most of the traders are actually going to keep trying to accumulate BTC to make money. Someone said to me that if you are going to try leverage, do it on the minutes chart. Haven't tried but it probably would.

for bitcoin it may be safe if we hold it for a long time, but for other altcoins that are not in the top rankings it may be very dangerous if we hold it for a long time, because when the price pumps, it can be followed by a dump and eventually it will take a long time to grow, there is even the possibility of becoming a dead coin

It's good that you back because there's a lot of opportunity here if you are going to take trading seriously. My advice is to keep on learning and don't give up easily just because you lose doesn't mean you don't have future here. Trading takes a lot of time to master and to become profitable, just be patience and know the basic rule of trading, you buy based and sell based on your own analysis.

Apart from the fact he is probably an alt account,,, but for the benefit of doubt if OP is really new, then the early signs is not good. The fact that someone is lazy to find out on his own and just ask a question with no background shows there is probably nothing we can do for him.

Crypto is for the person eager to find out on his own,,, and discover things on his side by trying and reading and listening first. Asking last.

Read some of the Day Trader's story on Reddit. You can have a glimpse of what day trading looks like in real life and learn some of the past mistakes that they have done during their first year of this career. There are lots of golden advice that you can find learned only by experience and struggles.

This is something that I do every day, to re-read before the day starts as a reminder to not duplicate their bad experiences in day trading.

Manage your emotions

This is always the problem encountered by the traders that usually mess things up when panicking when the market go sideways or being greedy at cashing out profits.  Better to manage your emotions and do some profit goal to prevent this kind of emotions.

Continue to Learn

As a trader, we thought those tools we had learn is enough but this is something we should acquire continuous knowledge for improvement and to become better and successful trader.

Dont be so hasty when it comes to trading there are times that the market is bad and if thats happened dont ever sell your asset due to panic selling. This is typically happened on some of the people cause they are literally seling even though they are at a loss which makes them lose more right?

Try to learn first a lot of things on trading before you do one again. Cryptocurrency is highly volatile market so better to gain knowledge first to avoid losing your money.

I guess you rush on leverage trading without even knowing the basics of it, if you want to start again then better learn the basics like planning your trades and always use the stop-loss order or better start doing on spot trading. If you start on spot trading then you just hodl those coins/tokens you used then you'll never lost those, it may decreased in value but it will always be on your wallet and you may sell it later on for higher price.

1) Do research of the market or coin you want to to invest, listen advices from everyone but do your own.

2) Make strong decision mentally not emotionally

3)Gain knowledge, experience and learn from your past mistakes

4)Don't get into virtual traps of shitty coins

5)Don't fear to loose and invest what you afford to lose at any cost

6) Sell at peak and buy at dips don't go reverse if you are trading in top coins.

First, did you find out why you lost? Yes? No? If you found out why you lost then you're a step ahead to achieving success but if you didn't, it simply means you've to devout more time to learning. Trading is a profession and must be handled like every other profession that demands time and practice like medicine, law, engineering, teaching, journalism etc. Ironically, people hop into trading without getting themselves armed with the least knowledge of it. Going into trading without the required skills set is akin to gambling, simple and short.

Seriously before you start trading you need a technical understanding on how cryptocurrency works you don't just wake up and start trading definitely you going to lose your money. You have to have basic knowledge about cryptocurrency which you can get by watching tutorials on how to trade on YouTube or meet someone that's into trading to put you true. And before you start trading you have to know about risk management to know the kind of risk you should carry. As a trader this are the basic things I believe you should know
1. Always apply stop lost after buying a coin incase if there is unforseen dump it is going to reduce your lost.
2. As a trader always trade what you can afford to lose.
3. Don't always invest all your fund in Cryptocurrency because anything can happen so you can invest like 30% of your asset.
4. As a trader or investor don't always borrow money to trade or to invest in any coin.

- Helpful advice, newbies are rarely satisfied with a small profit or a small initial success, they often crave higher levels of profit in the first time and their psychology has not been trained so carefully, a perfect combination for them to expand their wallet and suddenly some huge pressure comes when they lack focus and don't handle it well. The first moment has been judged as the crucial step for further improvements, advise well our emotions before going to the market, that is my advice to newbies, the habit of short-term success is not a good habit

Simple! Learn from your past experienced and mistake in trading.
Well, by the time you're ready to learn from your own mistakes, you've probably already lost most of your capital.
If I were to start trading all over again, I would give my own self the following tip:

Never put money in the first 3 months but use paper trades. Only when you are sure that you understand the market even in the rudimentary way and do not let yourself be carried away to quick-fire reactions, then you can start to bet real money. But again, only very little at first, maximum 0.01% of your capital per trade.

This way you learn a lot, but lose practically no money due to beginner's mistakes.

I have struggled a lot  and lost a lot before i was able to make any progress or profit in trading, so my advice for you is to just learn as much as you can, trading is quite unpredictable and no matter how prepared and no matter how many times you go in with 100% certainty you get proven wrong, so just start learning and discovering new strategies and methods and start testing them multiple times on demo accounts until you are comftorbale with the market and than start small and never get greedy always set a daily goal and stop at it.

Trading is a hard job because you have to monitor everything so you wont lose any chances, you have to start all over again, start learning how to trade and don’t rush yourself for making money. Give yourself time like a month of learning before you try again, trading takes time and you have to be prepared this time so you wont lose that much again.

I am also not a good trader, but, you may think about these:
- Never follow the hype and also FOMO if you are a beginner
- Never influenced easily by the FUD
- Never try new altcoins to trade, better to choose top coins
- Ensure that you choose reputable exchanges both global or local in your country
- Never panic, make your best and smart strategy, and management of risks, funds, and emotion

All you need is to trust yourself and willing to learn as it was the biggest investment before we succeed. Openness is also a factor to reach our goal, we never stop asking to the person we know it could help us and never ashame to share our bad experience maybe could someone helps us to correct our mistakes.

And there is one thing you should remember, learn how to control your emotions. Don't let this controls you otherwise, you will only just fail and lose everything you have started.

A very simple piece of advice.
If ever you are planning to quit or still continue.
When you decide to quit -> You will not make all your losses back.
If you continue -> learn from your mistakes, you will gonna do again what mistakes you did right? Capital preservation is a must too.

keep studying. However, there are lots of people out there who have lost more than your assets, but they are still learning to learn the charts. the advice I give is, try to do research and research on an old coin, and choose one of them. don't use the money you used, but use the money you don't mind if it's gone. other than that, the most important thing is to be patient.

Don't give up, and always try to learn from mistakes. in trading we learn psychology, money management and techniques. besides that experience is very important because it helps traders to adjust to certain situations. and one more thing, don't think with trading we will get rich quick, because everything requires a continuous process

My humble and serious advice for you is, never start trading again; but you must go for investing with the bitcoins with long-term plans. Because holding bitcoin for years definitely get you chances to recover all your losses incurred in trading. There are other ways like learning all the required skills for trading and then getting back to trading still there cannot be any assurance for you to recover all your losses and then getting into profits slowly but when you are investing with bitcoin for long-term will definitely there must be minimum assurance for you to find differences in this crypto space than what you had experiences with trading.

When you realize the fact that trading is not the only way to make profits in crypto space, then definitely you will find other similar opportunities to make easy profits and fortunately we are already having one proven method which must be holding bitcoins for long-term.

Good point actually. We all jumped to conclusions about why he lost,,, assuming that it was like all of us in our first time and playing to emotions to gamble away everything.

But there could be other reasons. Maybe it was a platform malfunction. Maybe it was a pure scam. Maybe OP just did not know how to use stop loss or set it wrongly.

That must be a very strong point of why most people are still struggling with trading even they are not good with trading. Yeah, most people never realize that fact that like they can make their living even out of trading but they want to recover their money only from where they have lost. This must be the reason why most traders are always getting back to trading even after they lost their big capital.

Maybe it was a platform malfunction. Maybe it was a pure scam. Maybe OP just did not know how to use stop loss or set it wrongly.
But almost 90% of traders are sharing like they are not successful in crypto trading so the most common reason must be they are unable to tackle the fluctuations of crypto markets. It means they must need to improve their technical skills or they must need to switch over to some other opportunity.

There are a lot of people who invest in time and knowledge here but to know what, they all forget those learning as they are driven by their emotions.

What I can suggest (additional), it is a need to learn how to control as this was the hardest part in trading. Many had lost their opportunity because of this thing and it mostly happens to beginners.

You should read articles and watch videos on trading thus acquire much knowledge never rush into trading because the market will continue to exist  and you should work on a trading strategy out of numerous trading strategies online, practice with it and get use to it, thereafter start trading again with as little as $100 to test your knowledge preferably adopt a higher charting time frame may be minimum of 4 hour timeframe for trading so as to have few time to analyze a trade.

As a beginner, you need a lot of adaptation and technical learning to analyze the market in every movement and learn fundamentals to find out what trends are affecting the market.
which is no less important than all that including learning basic trading is managing emotions or mentally, because no matter how great emotions become number one that must be really controlled.
in the early days of learning to lose a few dollars may be normal, because it is a process for beginners to understand what they are doing. Trading is not just buying and selling, but trading is a process where buying and selling is done with knowledge and controlled emotions.

And after learning at least the basic TAs, start small. As the OP had his experience regarding bitcoin trading, he can again start with btc. Or other alts like maybe XRP or TRX, where you can trade using small amount of capital. Don't go for the hype coins like meme coins or defi tokens. The chance of losing is very high especially if you chose a crap token. Experience will teach you the tips and tricks in crypto trading but don't use big amount of money while you are still learning.

Aside from investing your knowledge in trading and learning the basics, it is needed for you to be aware that trading is not an easy money generator and has a big chance for you to lose as a beginner. And if you are not able to adjust yourself and brought it to your comfort zone, I suggest you not continue doing this because at the end of the day, you only just regret and feel disappointed with the result.

I don't want to discourage you but I just wanted to tell you the truth. Now, you have to think about it not just twice but multiple times.

For a beginner trader I would like to advice that put the money that you can afford to lose. Always trade with minimum capital because you might don't have patience and if your trade goes against you then you will loss money. Always search about project and their news. Learn some chart reading, always look for buy in deep and sell on high. These are point you should look for before trading.

*Don't get excited
*Don't be too emotional
*Understand clearly the nature of trading
* last, starts from small capital

I tell you that it won't work perfectly at first. And there are only two possible results in trading either to lose or to make a profit. It was your choice which one you have aimed for.

Spend time practicing demo account. Make sure you blow down the account to a $100 then try growing it from there. You can't make it if you don't study to discover your personal strategy you keep making losses. So give your self to learning and practice more often that you study.

Yes I do know that. It is statistically proven. But in OP's case he actually never explained what happened and I think part of a good trader's responsibility is to check that the site he is using is legit. Software is good,,, does not cheat you,,, does not give false order filling on market condition that actually did not happen.

We quite have a similar stories only that mine was lesser loss because I was still starting up and I didn't buy that much Bitcoin.
My strategy was day trading back then and if you are asking for my advice, try to change your strategy and see what fits the most. I realize that day trading was not for me because I did not have enough time to look at the charts to do the trades.

Oh and emotion. Try to rid of it if you can.

Trading in bitcoin/crypto is not easy, you have to do fundamentally and technically analysis, so you can make the strategy of entry and exit.

I don't think you have TA skills because if you had, then you would have made a good profit by forgetting such a small loss. so try to learn it if you want to be a trader.

if you do not want to take any kind of discomfort ( learning TA) then you can buy bitcoin and forget it for a few years, you will get a juicy profit, I believe bitcoin is still the best choice for the long term.

That will be useful for beginners to familiarize themselves in crypto trading before they use their own money to trade. It will work if he learns more about trading, so he can try to set a strategy based on the current market situation. But he can also try to trade in the real exchange if he wants. But make sure that he controls himself because he will see many surprise moment that can make him worry. And he can try to use small money to test his skills to see if he can follow the trading or lose his money.

In any case, it is better to under-earn a profit than to close a trade with a loss. Therefore, you should not try to sell the coin on high, because in practice, only a few manage to do this. Similarly, you will not be able to buy coins at the lowest price. And this should not upset you.

educate your self more because that's the most important when it comes trading "enough knowledge" wherein don't be contented in what information you get or tips, what i meant keep searching for new idea and strategy always..

And don't forget to practice your skill as well in order to improve it more.. As the matter of fact there are some tutorials around the internet when it comes useful tips in trading especially through YouTube wherein step by step.. so it will be a big advantage for all beginners who want to learn something more in trading..

If lost $300 made you stopped trading, so you still not ready to use that amount of money. Maybe beside control emotion, you can start with small amount or maybe demo account. But if you profit don't feel confident and then use big amount of money on next trading, try increase it little by little. Because sometimes, when someone get profit, they feel confident and then think if they use more money they will get bigger profit, but then market is not like what his expected and he lose.

Sell "high" in the sense that you should be profiting is the correct way to do it, sell "high" in the sense that you should find the peak point is the wrong one. I just wanted to clarify that because there are tons of newbies that may mistake the two. I personally do not sell at the high for both times, I sell when I feel like I have enough profit and I want to get out, I am a big time long-termer so I am always in favor of holding as long as possible.

But for someone who wants to learn trading, that means buying and selling quickly instead of investing long term. That is why it is always a big deal to get out quickly. I even used a bot to trade that calculated like all the costs and gave you 1000 satoshi profit each trade, normally you would profit even more because of the fee, but in the end whatever you traded 1000 satoshi was your profit after all expenses, the idea was to make tens of even hundreds of these trades, it worked like a charm until bear market came in.

The first thing to do is to ask yourself why you lost the first time you tried to trade this market? If you do not know then this is going to be a problem as you could make the same mistakes once again and this is never a good thing, the second thing I will ask is what have you done since then to change your decision to trade the markets again? Have you read several books and dedicated hundreds of hours to this topic to the point you are confident you can make money this time around? Because if you have not done this then I do not see the point of trying your luck on trading once again.

My practical advice is to be practical.
Don't force yourself if you are not good at it. But if you are decided to go that way then try trading what you can only afford to lose.
This means you won't regret it even if it goes to zero.
Using that kind of mentality you are avoiding the bad reactions to swings. i.e. Panic selling or greed.
Create a plan. How many dollars are you aiming for, just for starters? $100 profit? If you hit that what's next? If necessary you should create a record for it.

Practical advice would probably be to do your own research and never to trust new coins without doing so because you never know if that coin is just a quick smash and grab or has a potential. Also, stick to stablecoins if you can to prevent big losses and panics that you aren't ready for.

Learning how to trade requires learning which can be done by enrolling for online or physical classes inorder to get the skills that is needed to trade the financial markets just like going to school to acquire a degree to get a job. A lot of newbies most time avoid this process, looking for sharp means to get to trading a coin.

Everything in life requires processes that need to be followed so that understanding is gotten. There is no need of rushing since money is involved which can be a risk if aim is not achieved. Training is risky but risk management need to be in place in case the contrary happens

The advice that I can give with all my heart is, do not trade until at least you have read about 7 to 10 books, this for you to learn to understand the market, you do not do anything with reading books that teach you AT, AT can be very useful, but The AT does not teach you to think but to use the indicators and tools well, what you should do is try to understand the market, after that you will see the market in your own way with all your well-sustained arguments with knowledge of book authors, in that moment is that you must trade, but before trading, you must do it in demo mode, to test your strategies and so that you learn to use all resources of the Exchanges.

If you have stopped years ago, then try to learn and study everything about Trading again. You should know that it's a long process of learning and it would be better to start over with a full gear of knowledge so you'll be too ready to deal with the volatility of the market. Pick an exchange that you're comfortable trading with and do series of practice trading. Do lots of preparation by gaining knowledge first so you'll trade better than what you did before.

You don't necessarily have to enroll to trading classe, that's why there are demo accounts out there to help you gain experience without losing money and learning from the experience, my friends didn't enroll in any of those but they just jumped right in although that's a bit riskier. Risk management should be considered but you don't have to always risk things when you are starting, there are things that are risk free, just grab the opportunity.

start trading again with basic trading knowledge. it will help you not to lose your money for nothing. Don't give up when you haven't achieved anything, the trade you made may be wrong at that time, but if you already know the knowledge you will get a profit and make up for your $300 loss. Don't give up to keep learning.

Start from scratch then. Go start feeding yourself with knowledge first about cryptocurrency and how the market works for a couple of years ago you might be lacking of those that make you have a hard time dealing with your trading. Once done, you can start again doing trading from the bottom starting from a handy or small amount of capital and put it into the crypto that you think can make you earn profit to help you out fund yourself into varieties of crypto that is worthy for your time and effort to do trading. Equipping yourself with knowledge is the first and foremost that you must obtain before anything else to be able to survive.

A more practical advice is that just buy low during the bear market and wait for the price to go up. You don't have to really trade every day to feel like you are a crypto trader. Swing traders are the ones who just buy and wait for the right price to sell.

You don't have to keep watching the chart like there is a daily golden opportunity that comes. Doing this will take up most of your time so instead, do some reading and learning after investing.

A reply of mine that someone asked similar question like this;

I think you need to dig in some online resources and if you search on reddit posts about I am sure you will find plenty of nice sources.

The next step can be to start doing some backtests and papertrades to see how much you are good at putting into practice what you have learned based on historical data and live data. The learning cycle never ends btw for anybody. So you need to keep the learning cycle on.

The next step could after backtesting and papertrades for months, you can actually start real trading. But the most crucial about this will be START SMALL just have the experience and learn how things can be when trading with real money after your preparations.

Overall crucial points in my opinion:

  • Risk&Money management - something you need to learn very well
  • Always have a well-designed plan and stick to that till your trades are done - which can be called a trading discipline.
  • We people are emotional beings so we can easily lose ourselves to our emotions such as being greedy, panic, etc. This will let most traders ended up with loss. You should definitely have a good understanding of what does it mean emotional disadvantage in trading.(You can look for as behavioral finance in trading)
  • Backtest and paper trades are significant especially when you starting for the first time. It lets you understand what are your weaknesses and strengths in trading, how good your strategy performs compared past events in the market, and on live data as well. There are some good platforms that offer such tools in a very nice way.
  • Look for ways to increase your trading skills such as trading bots. And you should try it by yourself rather than listening to other people's opinions you can take their opinion as a reference. But you will be the one who will decide what is works for you the best what is not.
  • Last one could be, do your own research. Dont listen or other people's advice, instead of listening their advice with reasoning, strengthen your perspective and researching your own. There should be a solid answer when you ask yourselves "why" when doing something.

Well those are stuffs that pops up in my head. There are more stuff to mention tho, I believe there will other people who would like to share their valuable information. And if your search your question on the reddit I am sure you find a lot of posts and comments similar to this.

The first thing you need to do is to have proper knowledge about cryptocurrency, Finding reliable sources/tools/materials that could help you boost your trading knowledge is a must. Determination is also a very important thing in starting up. Losing a trade isn't bad for starters, It is a step going to the road of success.

Managing risks is also an important practice, especially for a beginner. Experienced traders have their own risk management skills and it would be nice if you acquire those skills in your early exposure to trading.

I agree that if someone wants to learn to trade the markets then they need to study however I am not so sure I agree with the idea of taking a course, many of those courses are just scams, they promise you to teach you how to trade the markets and they always come up short, why? Because their business is to keep you as a client so when you lose you think there is still something  more to learn from them and then you pay for yet another course, if you are going to study the markets then do so from books which are very cheap and are way more deep than whatever you can get from those courses.

You are the only one who knows your mentality and money you have. So the first thing you need to do is learn how to manage your risk. Then learn how to grow your portofolio by managing your cold money ( money which does not use for buying daily needs ).

Technical and fundamental easy to learn and you can do it along with learning risk management.

Trading is not easy as you see on tic-tac ( tiktok ). It can eat your money fast especialy in crypto market.

Dont take any advice from tweeter and other paying method, it only wasting your time and money. There are a lot of free resource out there on youtube or tradingview.

Don't trade then, just invest. Trading isn't gambling and the moment you mistake it for that, you're lost already. Having the mindset of a gambler coming into trading is jo way to go about it. You have to dedicate your time into learning and constant practice to perfect the skills. The very moment you get an idea and confident of carrying out a successful trade then you can be advice to start trading.

While you're learning you can put your money to work buy investing and probably you'll find out which is the path you're to follow whether it's trading or investing. Both are quite entertaining to partake in but investing has less stress and more chances of profiting so it's up to you to decide.

Many newbies don't have the patience that requires with that strategy. Well, many of us here in the forum knows how to be patient in those times. We know how to handle situations and we're patient enough to wait after buying.

What I've noticed with many newbies, they want an overnight success which is a very dangerous thought and belief in this market.

I'm sure you learnt one or two lessons from your failure in trading the first time you tried it. I'm sure one prominent lesson you must have learnt would be to invest in learning as much as you can before you trade.
The only advice I'd give to you would be to really understand how trading works. Understand fundamental and technical analysis. Understand how chart patterns works. Understand these things and you'd be to make profitable trades, reducing your losses to the barest minimum.

From what I have understood, most of the newbies that comes to trade cryptocurrencies are doing so because they thought they were going to make quick money, they never consider the risks that are involved, and once they trade and lose, they quickly run from the market. That’s what happened in your case, you lost and you ran, because at first you thought that Bitcoin was another cash cow and you never considered whether there are risks or not and you didn’t prepare yourself for the ahead that were ahead of you.

It’s good that you know that now, and I believe that you are ready to start trading now, knowing fully well that there are lots of risk involved.

Trading is a test of how long we can extend our patience. Some just give easily and never turn back again. This is mostly happening to newcomers, I know they were hard to adjust to the market volatility and that makes me understand their feeling when they lose at their first attempt. But, if they are really strong and committed to their plan and goal, eventually, they can surpass the trials.

As a newbie, it is just something we really need to work hard and to find ourselves enjoying what we do despite the losses we got. And this is how trading will works.

You are right many beginners think trading is the fastest job to get rich. Even an expert can make mistakes, what about beginners. Luckily it's only once won't repeat with trading. Beginners must be prepared to lose money and have a strong mentality to survive. Because trading is a process we need to learn from experience.

This mentality is prevalent among newbies and while this is not completely their fault as if we take the time to look at social media then we are going to see that many promote bitcoin in that way, they should know better, simple logic will dictate that in a market in which the purpose is to earn money and that no one gives money for free then this means that if you want to win then someone else has to lose, then there must be more losers than winners and yet they never think about this.

most of the newbies that comes to trade cryptocurrencies are doing so because they thought they were going to make quick money, they never consider the risks that are involved
Yeah, the foremost advice anyone could give to newbie traders must be not rushing for making money. Because only those traders who are good in patients got chances to crack profits out of crypto trading. Market is something like highly unpredictable and you must need to keep your nerves down so that you can find the right opportunities to make money.

this means that if you want to win then someone else has to lose, then there must be more losers than winners and yet they never think about this.
I'm having contradicting opinion here. For example, you are buying and someone is selling and you both can be into profit when for the case like bitcoin market; it is like your seller might have bought when bitcoin was trading below $10k and you are buying right now and you might be selling when bitcoin market will be trading around $40k so you both will be into profits and someone who will be buying around $40 might need to wait more to gain his own profits.

trading is not easy, it is very difficult and there are few buy and sell opportunities that arise during the day when it comes to trading bitcoin. There are some basic things you need to know before trading bitcoin:

1 - you must know technical analysis

2 - do not buy if you were unable to identify support and resistance

3 - don't buy just for guessing

4 - always put Stop - Loss

I tried trading Bitcoin a couple of years ago but quit after I lost $300. What advice do you have for me if I decide to start trading again? Thank you!
a little advice from me that is 'don't cut loss...

you may experience a decrease in the asset from the price you bought it for, when that happens then all you have to do is hold it until the price goes up again. and don't buy during the FOMO market because it's very dangerous.

I would never give that advice to hold a dropping asset just because you purchased it at a higher price.

You may have invested into a useless coin and it's normal in crypto trading and if you are going to hold it indefinitely long just because you want the value back from it, you might not just end up in loss but it might become dirt while you wait for an endlessly long period of time.

Whether you bought it for cheap or costly, your decision to sell must always be backed by the support and resistance in the market for the coin and what kind of development is going on within the project in the coming time. Sometimes there might not be enough support in the market but if there is solid development going on, you can always rely on that, and is a good reason to hold.

There are many things one can learn especially after facing some initial loss in trading. I can make an endless list of things one can improve and should look to work on, but I will go with the 2 most important ones.

1- Right Attitude: If you are serious about trading, make sure the attitude is not to make millions overnight but to earn some dollars in every trade. Make sure you have enough time for trading because if you are thinking of trading in part-time, you will eventually hate it at some point because you can't dedicate enough time.

2- Management of funds and tools: You must have a good estimation of how much you should trade each time because this isn't gambling and your trades should be based on the profitability chance in each trade rather than your gut feeling about it. You should also know the basic tools like stop-loss.

Work out a strategy of your own from your previous experience with trading. One thing you should understand is, someone has to loose in other for some other person to gain. All you need is for you not to be on the loosing side and to do that, you've got to have a working strategy in place. Its best to be of your own becuase, you'll better understand the changes that might arise with it.

Also, train your emotions on how you feel or perceive the market. Its one way the market actually plays around with you and not having the right emotions about it could mess up your trades and possibly your head too. You ought to have a plan about your trading and determine the point at which you could say, its enough and be satisfied with what your having.

Don't be a quitter when you don't see any downfall that's going to make your holdings at zero value. Losing is just normal at first time or even for expert traders, they'd often experience this kind of problems. That's part of the process in order to make you learn better, so my advice is to continue in trading but avoid futures and just choose spot when using binance. Be at safer side and don't risk your money without proper knowledge.

Go for bakctests and demo trading

This seems to be a simple and practical, good advice, just what the OP was asking for.

On the other hand, this is not the best place to write this but IMO the best advice for a beginner trader could be not to start trading: I don't believe in TA (I have never worked as a professional trader but I own a degree in economics) and it is quite possible that you get the same gains by simply hodling, so you'll have much more free time to concentrate in other business, better sleep, better mood... Sometimes we focus on a goal and get lost in the details, and forget what is important for a healthy and fulfilling life.

It is not for everybody as not everyone is prepared to hodl during a multi-year bear market and I could be wrong if a black swan happened and everything goes to zero, so this shouldn't be taken as a financial advice, but it is my personal choice and I feel happy to share it.

Sounds like a practical approach.

My simple advice for beginner traders would be, if you're not ready to spend all your time for learning the process of trading then you should quit before starting itself.

Yeah, success in trading is simply depending on how effectively you are utilizing our time and all available resources. People are mostly just dreaming about success in trading but never prefer to put all required efforts. This is the reason I just like to advice in a way to filter out those dreamy traders before they are starting.

The first advice that should suits a newbie is that, invest what you are capable of losing.
In your initial trading days, don’t start with investing huge amounts.
At first understand the market, and see the movement of the coin.
And yes if you can afford then go for some paid signals, these are almost 90% of the time correct.
Hope this will help you OP and you will earn huge profit by trading.

They wouldnt learn until they do try and test out the market for themselves. They wont really learn if they wont get their hands wet and this is why telling some recommendations wont really be followed most of the time.
People or beginners would be discovering out something when they do experience the market hands on and when it comes to mistake then it would really be a common one.The only thing i do say is about thinking
risk management most of the time because this would be an important factor that would really be helping you out on at least sustaining in the market. Dont get easily discourage with mistakes because
this would be common, always mind off about on how you do learn up and trying out your best to sustain yourself and the rest of knowledge would really be gained on actual experience.

Yeah, when a newbie is not ready to put all their time and efforts then definitely crypto trading is not for them. They must quit immediately once they realize this point.

never stop learning or don't quit if you believe that you will earn in the future.
I understand you are referring like "if not today then how in future"; okay, continuous learning is very much needed thing for sustaining success in trading but for beginners they should have learned all the basics and must have practiced on demo accounts at first hand.

Firstly, learn economics and the market you want to trade on.
It is an open secret that before investing/trading something you need to know what the financial instrument is all about. It can be applied to stocks, crypto, currency, real-estate, literally everything. You should know what demand and supply are, because these two parameters participate in formong the price of the assets. Learn what bitcoin is and the differences between bitcoin and altcoins. Learn several trading strategies and see how they work on practice doing some backtesting.
Secondly, start analysing the charts. You should know what the charts and indicators show and the ways you can use the information they give. It is fundamental knowledge and skill that you need to acquire beore starting to trade.
Thirdly, learn the principles of money and risk management. These things are crucial to avoid blowing your budget. You will hardly unlikely to lose $300 in one single deal if you follow the rules of managing the resources you possess.
Finally, create an account and start implementing your knowledge on practice. Remember about psychological factor. Before making this or that deal, write out the reasons for making this deal. It will help you to indicate your mistakes if your deals are not successful.
Bonus: before coming to market you should have realistic expectations on trading. Don't plan to earn a million right away. Your first objective should be not to lose all the money. Losses may happen, but you should learn on them and improve your strategy.

Always seek knowledge first before entering the crypto industry, dont try any crypto activities if you dont have yet good knowledge about it, and make sure you know how to risk entering the crypto world especially doing trading and investing. Knowledge is always important in any circumstances in life so always make sure that you know what you are doing.
If you already have the knowledge and next is the application to know how much you learn. because it is not all about the knowledge but it also has accompanied with skills and strategies otherwise, it is still a failure. Normally, if we are new to trading, losses is can't be avoided, that is certainly frustrating but that is actually how we improve our life as a trader. Because if we find it so easy, we don't encourage ourselves to learn and gather more ideas. That is how it works and we don't just stop until we reach our goal and get satisfied with the results of our trades.

Always have a specific amount you are willing to loose to the market on every single trade and you do this by using your stop loss. Most traders only seek for profit and neglet the fact that business is all about profit and loss. Once you have a set target of profit you wish to make in every trade you should also have a set loss target so you don't blow off your account if trading goes wrong

Everyone started trading as a beginner and like you as a trader I've been also lost and lose a much higher amount than yours mate. You are not alone, everyone experienced it but this kind of lose experiences will be the one which will give you a lesson learn that you can use on your next journey. As a beginner trader you must be ready in every possible scenario, equipped yourself with technical analysis knowledge and also having a willingness to learn in every failure. Becoming a wise trader is a constant learning so never stopped getting learn in every situation you will encounter.

at first the trading business was not a business that had to wait for profit to come, but we had to learn the right way of trading, where we had to be able to control psychology and be self-disciplined towards analysis, so that over time, our target is trading for consistent profit, so that we can live from trading

I do agree on the face that trading is not a business, rather it should be done with proper calculation and observation.
Analysis is the most important part of trading if i say it very prank.
If you can’t analysis the market or the coin that you are investing upon, then definitely you will fall in losses.
Moreover as a beginner i will always recommend you to start with small amount.
Once you know when the market goes up and goes down, or in short find yourself comfortable, go with big amount and try your luck.
Wish you all the best mate.

What you mean probably is risk management. Which aims to secure capital when the market is crashing. Beginner traders do need to know it, so the capital they have will also be safe. Trading is not just for and loss, but how to implement a strategy well. Knowledge of trading should be really updated.

I tried trading Bitcoin a couple of years ago but quit after I lost $300. What advice do you have for me if I decide to start trading again? Thank you!
The best advice would be to leave emotions out the door. There is no scenario where people could feel fear, happiness, joy, excitement, sadness and many other emotions and still be a great trader. I know you should feel amazingly happy when you turn 100 bucks into 10k right? That is a huge return and your hundred bucks is now ten thousand dollars so you should feel happy at the very least? Well that is wrong, you should not because your 10k could become 100 dollars as well if you invest it into some scam type project, which is why always be careful and always keep your emotions in check.

Same goes for losing money, just because you lost money a bit right now doesn't mean that you will end up losing money constantly, you may end up recovering that loss and making a great return as well. Just focus on what you can do and do not feel emotions and worry about what you can't change.

Trading we'll know that trading require risks that is important if one can minimize it by using different risk management template. This risk of a thing is necessary in trading but one's ability to reduce it so it wouldn't affect the entire trading capital is better and more stress free than just trading without understanding risk that is inevitable in trading.
Since you want to go back to trading, try as much to familiarize yourself with demo trading, back testing, and working on good strategy that has good high win rate.

Looking at crypto uncertainty I would like to give a advice for beginner trader that put the money that you can afford to loose. Crypto market is very venerable at time you can not predict anything into this. A world label trade can go anyway up or down at any moment. Second thing I will like to tell that always search about chart and market that makes you more confident in trading arena. A beginner trader always put low capital to start trade. These are basics to learn.  do not be in hurry seen crypto past records.

The advice I am going to give is that you should look at the mistakes you made before.
You should try to understand what made you lose. You have had such experience and you will have to use that to your advantage.

When you have understood what caused you to lose, then you start looking for the solution and how to do things better next time so you don’t lose money again, and even if you’re going to lose, you should at least be able to reduce the loss. Study everything that needs to be studied and develop your strategies that will help you make more profit in the market.

This is the best advice there is out there. People keep talking about watching stuff and reading stuff and learning stuff and yeah they are right in a way that you can't get better without doing any of those. However one thing is for sure, you can't make a profit without actually doing, if you do what you need to do that means you are going to learn and without doing it you will only have some theoretical knowledge and that is not good enough.

After you start doing what can help you out even more than learning why you lose? It is the best method and people will be profiting a ton by losing, yes that sounds weird but the greatest thing to teach you how to make less mistakes is making mistakes and learning from them. Eventually it is going to be easier and easier and easier and that way you will end up being one of the best traders out there, all thanks to learning from mistakes.

Well explained, the first rule is not to make money, it is to protect trading capital. The stop loss is the expiration date for your trades in case of market moves against your trades. The emotional trading will not add good consequences on your trading experience so better to learn before it is too late. Sooner or later, you will face with cutting loss or let it go trades so you have to prepare yourself for not letting emotions beat the logic of smart trader.

Newbies that saw others profit will also make them feel that they can do that and will only have the logical thinking that, the higher the capital, the higher the profit.

That's what they'll set on their minds but surely is a wrong thought because it still depends on how they're going to trade. And as an addition to the newbies, always do a practice to gain almost everything you need.

Before trading, learn the basics of the crypto market, predict price trends based on the flow of cryptocurrencies in the market, analyze trading strategies, and stop loss and profit in time. At the beginning of the transaction, in order to reduce the transaction risk, you can first conduct a small amount of capital transaction or diversified portfolio investment. Don't be affected by FUD, learn risk management.

Understand the knowledge of cryptocurrency, keep learning, and have a deep understanding of the market. Don't buy and invest in short-term altcoins. When you invest in cryptocurrency, you must have enough patience and a risk-taking attitude.
You can listen to other people's suggestions, but don't listen completely. Remember to have courage and adventurous spirit。

I really think that bitcointalk is a great place to learn how to trade. There are both great traders here, and also people who know about TA a lot and people who focus on news a lot as well. You can learn something from everyone, of course not everyone is perfect in every aspect, but you can take the strongest parts of their advises and leave the bad parts of their advises aside and that way you will be making a lot more profit.

I am not saying this as a person who can give a great advice because I feel like mine are just very little risk and little return stuff so I do not advice too much aside from "buy bitcoin as much as you can afford" but I have seen other people here who are tons better than me at trading who gave great advises that I used in my own trading to make it better, some of them were bad so I removed them but kept the good ones in.

For beginners, you must first understand what crypto is, don't trade without knowing how cryptocurrencies work. Because by understanding crypto,
it will be easier for us to do research and analysis, so we can make decisions when it is the right time to enter and exit. Trading is not just buying
at a low price and selling at a high price, crypto trading is very complicated, it takes patience to be a successful trader. We have a lot to learn about
crypto, and also need a lot of practice in order to have trading experience. Regarding people's opinions, my advice is don't trust 100%, keep doing
research and analysis before making a decision.

Always have a trading plan before taking a position in any trade. If you aren't good with technical analysis then trade the news meaning you dwell more on fundamental analysis to pick a trade. Most trading robots aren't reliable get to understand the market conditions for your self and most importantly learn the skill before adventuring into trading.

make sure that the money you use is not used for daily needs or not money for your living expenses. use your excess money so you don't panic when the red market occurs.
Patience is the key in my opinion.

There are also a lot of people who will make you confused in bitcointalk as well, there are bad traders there are haters and most importantly there are trolls and knowing who to trust in bitcointalk is very hard as well because we have seen people sell their accounts as well so a legendary account could be now owned by a newbie as well who knows?

This is why I think it is not really a good idea to follow bitcointalk all that seriously, you could follow it as in just check what people are saying and that is good because at least you know what people in the crypto world is thinking about (sort of) but you will never know who you should be following considering all the non-crypto people who are only around to create chaos in the middle of the forum. I personally make my own decisions and that is a lot easier than to follow others around here.

I personally adviced all the beginners who wants to invest in the crypto that they should start from the small if they don't have much amount that will definitely give them a little benefit but they will not be in loss, and they should learn about the crypto first, then only they can get the profit.

Don't be in a hurry to make profit. Get the knowledge then keep your chat as simple as possible be consistent with on strategy and get perfect with it. When you have the skill the money would follow. Never pursue a moving trade if you are late wait for another entry point. Always buy low and sell high this way you would remain in 90% consistent profit

at first the trading business was not a business that had to wait for profit to come, but we had to learn the right way of trading, where we had to be able to control psychology and be self-disciplined towards analysis, so that over time, our target is trading for consistent profit, so that we can live from trading
true, trading must be managed based on good management not just waiting for profit to come. because if profit comes, it's not trading but holding. In my opinion, trading skills must be used to analyze the course of buying and selling so that profits are maintained, not just waiting.

I think all four points are the main keys, it is impossible to distinguish between heavy and light here in these points because the point of haste is something connected with greed, haste to seek opportunities but hidden here is also a desire for profit to fill our greedy instincts, besides this point, even though we have a good brain and operate with experience but do not notice haste, we are also prone to error between analysis and gambling, don't notice the bad points of the project and turn it into gambling

For all the replies, I hope that OP was already satisfied and knows what he gonna do as a newbie. It definitely was hard at the start as trading is not a joke, it needs attention and deep knowledge. If you/we apply all the suggestions and ideas that have in this thread, I think you/we are winning already.

However, even though we have this knowledge and effective strategies, you can't be sure that everything will be okay and you no longer suffer losses it was because we often do mistakes in decision making, and aren't we perfect, right? So, losses are still there.

I will say, in crypto trend is your friend. U have resistance and support levels. The market is sketchy during a bear market but for the most part if u have experience and time involved in crypto and know how to read trends, direction of movement is predictable during a bull market. Small investors or bears dont have the power and ability to control market trends. Bulls do. When the trend breaks resistance bulls are ready to come up to the next level and establish a new support. When they are ready to come up they will always maintain a support level and will not let the price fall below that level to bring confidence to investors and make a clear indicator that there is a demand above that price. They know how to create indicators to persuade people to buy and vise versa. If you watch these trends for years you will learn their tactics

Assuming you are certain to exchange now with your own expertise, you should begin figure out how to control your feeling when a few group spread fuds, or somebody that makes you waver in after your exchanging plan. It's alright to lose with such sums on the grounds that the information that you'll have from the experience can be applied to your next exchanges benefit.

However, on the off chance that you benefit don't feel sure and, utilize enormous measure of cash on next exchanging, attempt increment it gradually.

This is not new in the trading world. Losing is part of the game but what make you stand tall ahead the market is your continuous focus and toughness against your weakness and emotions. If your lost just $300 and ran away, then you could come back and lose virtually double of that and also run. This is emotion, and its really eating you up. You need to stand up on your feet and fight against by being tough and ready to face reality.

You neeed to work on your strategy. This help you to know how you would trade, when to trade and when not covering both your technical and fundamental analysis of the market. The market is not a game hall or a betting platform where luck could attract frequent profits for an individual without any skills. Trading need skill to be able to get what you are looking for. You can choose to use robot to trade which also depend on the trader and the kind of robot.

My advice is simple do not trade if you dont have the knowledge yet about cryptocurrency because you will surely lose your money if you do trading without any knowledge on it, before you trade you have to know first some basics about cryptocurrency, you should also know how risky trading is. My advise also is try to invest first before invest if you wanna really explore cryptocurrency, investment is better than trading for beginners but still you have to do research as well before you invest.
I am on your side but I have a bit of fix to "when to start" part of it. You should not start trading on day one that is for sure and you should learn more about crypto before you start trading that is correct as well, but when do you know you are good at trading?

When will you feel like you should start? That is only going to happen when bitcoin is at a situation where it is a bull run or looks like a good period to trade because it is usually profitable even if there are falls there are bigger ups, that is when you should start thinking about starting but if it is like that when you first start and then you should start with again learning more about it but then start trading with only 5% of your capital, and if you keep making profit then increase it to as much as 50% if you want to, I would never advice to put all your money in because the other 50% should stay for when you may end up losing money and need to reinvest.

Learned a lot frim this thread and hopefully I can employ those advice to a certain degree when I am trading. One thing that I can give advice to other beginner traders is to probably practice trading if you can because no point doing it without experience, you will only get big losses.

The most important thing is the attitude to money and the deposit, the more you are attached to it, the more mistakes you can make due to the emotional factor.
It is important for you to understand that the money you are trading with is no longer your money. It seems to me that all the rules have already been discussed many times.

Don't be greedy and don't be part of the wave but be aware of the wave. What I mean by the second advice is that don't get manipulated by influencers trying to promote shitcoins that doesn't have a value, be aware meaning that if you know that you can make a quick money out of that shilled shitcoin then buy some but buy with caution.

The main advice is not to ask for trouble and do not rush. First of all, you need to understand the basics of trading, understand the basics and how what works.
For this, a paper or demo account is ideal so that you cannot lose your money with little experience.

It is very good for beginners to know the basic rules of trading, so they can start by knowing what is the right thing to do. Because good traders
really have to know how the trading world works, so it's not just buying cheap and selling it at high prices. Trading is much more complicated
than we imagine, so being a successful trader can't be instant, we have to be prepared for a long process. There is nothing wrong with using
a demo account to practice trading, it will improve our trading skills without losing money.

Invest in the dips, stake lock, save and ultimately hold. Buy SHIB today and pray £30 buys millions. Diversified portfolio usually gives a good return. Invest small amounts on high risks and larger on better bets like Ethereum. Wait until the market dumps after these pumps to avoid being burned and wanting to cash out too early. Alternatively you look for long term and invest when ever wherever the price is right.
I recommend checking out artist's on OceanSea
Check Facebook groups for the up and coming. 21. Look for the new models about to launch. Look for unique and different when looking for NFT artworks.

Trade only with your prepared money for you to not regret something. Buy low, sell high and don't be greedy, don't panic and be patient.

even when you are just starting  or simply being a noob which would poke out that greediness of yours which would result on being too confident on things until you do realize that trading in reality isnt something

simple that someone could able to handle it well or easily.Just gain experience and knowledge while you do trade because this will mold you up as a better trader.

My candid advice for beginners traders. The first thing is to seek for knowledge about cryptocurrency and may sure you understand it very well and also learn more about chart because it help a lot in trading. And for a newbie in trading you don't need to be too eager to make too much profit. And when starting you start with little amount like 200$ to your first time. And when you lose some amount don't be discourage but the may advice for you is to understand chart and learn from your mistakes.

the first is our own goals, peg the goals we want to achieve so that we are more enthusiastic about doing it. add insight into trading and start understanding and also analyzing the crypto market so that we can determine the right time to sell or buy coins. start again with small capital if you feel you are not too good at doing it to minimize the losses you will get if you fail. multiply experience because it will help us to be able to trade better. believe in yourself and do your best to achieve what you want.

not everyone can trade because it's not an easy thing

Following someone is never been a good thing for me as a trader and it would be worth if you do make up your own analysis rather than on tailing up some.Even though its not really bad to make out some considerations on getting or nitpicking some ideas of others and would be applied into yours. Trading is a never ending trial and error
with those analysis whether it do works or not will surely be basing up on the market condition which is something that cant really be known orpredicted.
Sustainability would be your primary concern on times like these.

Right. Learn first before you decide to start trading. There's always an advantage if you keep learning in crypto trading because that will be your guide on how to make your trading successful. And that learning will hep you to build your own strategies in trading that you think will suit you. Trade with a small amount first as its always possible that you will make losses often than gaining profits. And make these losses as your motivation to do more good in trading so you can start maximizing profits.

You may have invested directly in crypto without any experience or direction. left the platform without any knowledge. Now you are thinking of starting trading again. However, nothing good can be expected in this process. You need to stop trading first. You can hold on for a long time by investing the maximum on the advice of someone experienced. But I think you now need to have knowledge of trading and cryptocurrency first.
