My Metamask won't accept my password and I know it is correct.  I have the seed phrase and the password I created to sign up for the metamask.  If I reset my wallet, is there a chance I would lose my coins? I can't have that.  Also, is the "password" different than the seed phrase,,, becaue it accepted this password before.. I didn't change it.

Before I could just reload the phone and it would ask for the face id and I would be good to go.... please advise if you know what to do or have been through this before.

If you are sure that you have the correct seed phrase, yes.
All your private keys can be derived from your seed phrase and that's enough for recovering your wallet.
Note your password is used for encrypting your wallet locally and it's not needed when you use the seed phrase.

There's no chance for you to lose your coin but you may get the different address appears in your metamask. This is also happening with me dude. Each seed contains bunch of addresses and sometime metamask was randomly catch the random address from your seed. there's is another solution. You can try to download mycrypto desktop wallet and then try to  open your seed on the mycrypto wallet. You will also able to pick the address that contains your coin.

You can try to open your wallet with your seed. Your coin was safe in your wallet.

I believe every post here is an ok process for you to recover your wallet but for me, the last time I had an issue like this since I had my private keys stored somewhere, I just reinstalled the Metamask and used my private keys to reimport all the wallets attached to that MM.

I'm using Metamask before and I have also encountered that problem when my phone suddenly fall into seawater and it was broken, But luckily I have kept my seed phrase and private keys when I bought a new Android phone I just import it using the private keys and there was no problem, thats why I stop using Metamask now because I find it hassle to use especially when you are using a multiple Network in the Layer2 blockchains.  just my opinion.

Password not locked your address wallet, that's just lock & open your wallet so in-case your device is missing and someone found your device he can't access your fund. Secret Seed Phrase is the important things you should have, If you have it then should be not worry just import that then you can access your wallet back and you will created your new password to open/lock the wallet.

Feel free to tested with dummy account metamask.

As I know the main thing is to remember your seed phrase. If you have a new device, you can import your wallet using your seed phrase and then make up a new password exactly for this device. It means that the password isn’t linked to your wallet. You can change it. I recommend you to install Metamask once again and import your wallet.

i just reset my wallet with metamask and teh see phrase and there are no coins onit!  Does it have to load all the other coins one at a time? I am kind of scared... I clearly have the right see phrase.  Has anyone everhad this happen before?

Maybe there is something you must forgot to your password or some missing character.
But mine its always fine always Ill save my password through to other device and the seed on it.
So thats why if I forgot my password or the seed I can openly easy, But we need to be careful sometimes about opening metamask because there is some phising site that can get the pass to your meta.

Easiest method is to use the recovery seed or try to use private keys on another wallet if you have write down it somewhere. You will not lose access to the coins, just create new waller with the old seed and you are good to go. Just look for the detailed info on Google and check the Youtube channels how to export seed and use the same seed on different crypto wallet for recovery.

Try to use your seed with mycrypto wallet.

Usually that wallet shows immediately the address that has the balance or coins you have with it. Always use the official links so that you won't be a victim of phishing and fake sites of the same.

Just be sure that you input the correct seed phrase since you forgot your password and you write down the wrong password, this could be the same with your seed phrase. Try to use your seed phrase on other device with metamask wallet to confirm if you input the correct one, don’t uninstall yet on your old device try to remember your password as much as possible.

Well, if you are sure the seed phrase you have is the correct one will link you back to your wallet successfully, then why not, but also remember that if you have imported some other wallets to your metamask and you have funds in them, then please make sure you also have the private keys of this wallet as you might still need it to access those other wallets that are linked to them through metamask, this is very important to take note of, recovering back your initial metamask wallet with its seed phrase might not bring back also those wallet you imported with their private keys, so please have those private keys handy too.

I dont have any other wallets I did everything in the metamask.  I only send bnb from trust wallet.  I opened the metmask "open link" and now the purple digital video game logo shows up on my mask but no coins! :(

is the mycrytpo app only good of desktop? the problems with adding custom tokens is I have hundreds or super cheap crapcoins!!! I would sure love to use my metamask like it was if anybody else has any other ideas.  thank!

As I've said, they have the pro version which you can use as web app. So it's good using with your browser although I haven't used it but I've tried the windows desktop version.

Well, if you've got a lot of those tokens adding customs, it's okay that you have to input all of them if you want to dump all of it.

So you are able to access your wallet again and see nothing your wallet?
Maybe you got scammed or hacked but a suspicious links and you might exposed your seed phrase. This is the only possible scenario if you lose your money. I thought your only problem here is about your password, this is a reminder to everyone that you should always protect your wallet details and avoid clicking any links without confirming if its legit or not.

Everything will all be copy-paste for all the coins that are not showing in your panel and it will not take you an hour to do that, the worse thing that can happen is getting your private key or passphrase compromised. so be very careful to share your wallet details with anyone, it's better to use several wallets if you have a large portfolio.

As long as you've got the seed phrase, it's okay to reset your account. You won't lose any value on your wallet but the transaction log will be disappear.

It is safe until you know what you are doing.

At first, create a backup of your Metamask seeds and keep that in a safe place, if you go on without your seeds and failed to provide that recovery phrase during resetting you will get locked your account.

One more thing, make sure that if you have any exigent imported address or not. no matter you imported via seeds or private keys, Metamask won't store any manually imported data for you. When you resetting your pass, they just recover only the addresses that belong to your Metamask seeds. After resetting, you have to import your previously imported address again, manually. So before inception make sure that you have a backup of the necessary things then go on.

I dont care for your tone.  I came here asking or help. I thought my only problem was the password as well.  Sometimes lately the metamask loads new coins and adresses slowly.
Is there an authority to report this case to? If any of these coins go big do you understand these would be some of the largest financial crimes in HISTORY stealing people's coins?

you basically still have the original phrase, and I think you're one step away. on the other hand if we reset and still have the original phrase it will not lose the assets you have. try to sit for a moment and contemplate, sometimes we are not careful, for example we are missing one digit in copying

thank you andriato....this is a bit of a crisis for me.. has anyone on here done this and had it take overnight to load the coins? I have the right phrase.  I deleted and reloaded the wallet again, but no coins.  I have never and would never share the recovery phrase.

This is local password it's not the seed. The local password is only used to prevent people from accessing your wallet when you lose your device or go out. With password you can change it whenever you want.


Please check carefully again. Your seeds are absolutely correct and you really have not to share with anyone. With seed and private key you can log in and check your assets anywhere.

First, I don't understand why metamask don't accept your password if it is correct. Sometimes, if you paste your password copying from a file, there is a problem like a space in the first. So try to fill the password manually.

Second, If you have created wallet from myetherwallet and connected with metamask, there is no need to be worried. You can create another metamask and connect again but if you have created account from Metamask directly and your password don't accept, you can't login to your metamask. If you already imported your metamask to trust wallet app, you can move your coins. So move your coins using from trust wallet. This is the easiest way of recovering your funds safely.
 

The seed phrase is the most important thing mate. Even you reset your wallet and you login again using your seed phrase through meta mask surely your main wallet will always appear in it. Perhaps you set password wherein using a mobile app and you forgot it right? because if you're using desktop it's only extension. So if i'm correct on that case it doesn't matter if you reset it as long as you have the seeds you can always recover your wallet and it's totally safe.

why it wouldnt accept your password when you are sure to yourself that it was a correct password ?
maybe you got hacked and the hacker changed your password to a new one  .

it seems you already loose your coins,  
what are you worrying for ? but resseting will empty your wallet but the coins will remain in your address and will re appear after you import your phrase or login with your password but you already attempted both and they are not working .

in my experience the password is only for initial access, you enter metamax only
the most important thing that you should backup. phrases , private key. your own wallet if you lose these 2 things, your wallet is finished

Why it won't accept password? If it is not accepting password you can forget it if you not  you have secured private key or seed phase of your wallet it will recover if you not saved it then your wallet is finished and you can not access your account forever.

I have experienced the same case with this problem, after updating the browser application the old password on metamask can no longer be accessed but that's not a problem, if you still have the seed phrase because it's an important key to access metamask, it's better if you have previously backed up . To avoid the case of losing the key of each account, I keep the private key of every wallet that has been used.

the metamask accetps the password, but the acount has no coins on it.  I never shared the seed phrase with anyone.

I have known others who have this same problem.  It's not the seed phrase or the password, it's the coins.  I am hopoing there is some software glitch or update if anyone hears anything let me know.  I suspect there are many others. I can't find the update? I believe I clicked on.

Metamask wallet passwords not mandatory, Just important think store your private key or sheed phase access your wallet , you have your wallet private key or sheed phase of course obviously access your wallet,  just put your private key and create new meta mask wallet and access your wallet its ok

First, restore your wallet to another computer or phone and check your wallet.
Many phones have double space, on Samsung it's Knox Samsung, which allows you to install the same app 2 times as if it were 2 different devices.
Do not rush to remove old programs without checking.

Does the problem still exist?

- Are you sure that you have downloaded the legit (https://metamask.io/the) metamask extension wallet?
- After importing the seed phrase, have you been able to verify if it is the right account that contains your coins? Because most of the time, newbie tends to accidentally create multiple wallet account on a single seed phrase.
- Have you re-added the "contract address" of the coins you owned?

The problem with not adding them again after importing your seed phrase is that it will not reflect on your wallet. Go to coingecko, find the token you are holding, copy and paste the contract address.

as @Almasani suggested to you, if you still keep the Phrase / privet key, there is nothing to worry about it, but make sure you download the metamask according to the link provided and use another wallet then import the phrase, make sure you look at the blockchain explorer for see your coins, if you are afraid of losing the coins in the wallet address then move it to another wallet like Trust wallet, Safepal and other wallet u need.

thank you guys.  i clicked on your "legit" link and its says oops something wrong but the you click foward and it gives the download.

Then I downloaded it on firefox because chrome had all kinds of problems before.  It gave me the old address of the wallet but because I rest the wallet it gave me the new address.  I have three accounts now that say "zero" because I have twice added accounts in the past making mistakes.  I can see all of them. acount 1 is the real one and has no coins in it.

I did this on the desktop.  When I use my iphone metamask wallet it won't let me buy any coins. no coin pops up and is added to the pancake swap.

I believe I still have my coins. this is is very complicated.  I must have not had the right metamask extension? thank you. I hope I am almost to seeing my coins.

I am not sure what else to do right now. I was told to use firefox before for less problems. I already have the metamask on my phone.  I know how to add coins done it way too much but my bnb balance isn't even there and I can't even buy a single coin the coin doesn't even pop up on pancake swap?

I just scanned the qr code by conencting my wallet with the wallet connect option on my desktop and i scanned the code.  my account 1 is on my metamask and is connected but still no coins or balance. it's not the add coins problem. a single coin doesn't pop up when i click on it in dextools.

I can now see new currencies "pop up" on pancake swap but there is no bnb or any coins on it.  I feel I am almost there.

I experienced this in metamask where in i want to change the security but it wouldn't accept my password which i know is correct. I always save the seed phrases of my wallets so that if anything occured unexpectedly i have it and i can restored my wallet everytime. And you will not lose your coins because until you have your seed phrase secured.

I definitely have the right seed phrase shared.

now I am getting the "deeplink not supported" thing on my iphone if you know a fix for that. boy this is frustratng.  I just cleared my cookie and cash setting in security.

Okay. Have you switched your RPC? If you're using BNB, then it is most likely that your BNB can be found on the Binance Smart Chain.

Go to your Account > Settings > Network > Add Networks and input the following information below.

Network Name: Binance Smart Chain

Chain ID: 56
Symbol: BNB

If the seed phrase doesn't disappear, it looks like your wallet will be fine, especially if you keep the private key from the wallet then there will be no problem if we forget the password in Metamask, I'm also a Metamask user but I always import the address I use so even though if you lose your metamask password, of course you just need to create a new one and re-import the address using the private key.

Instead of continuing to use metamask, try with trust wallet on your iphone. https://trustwallet.com/
Download trust wallet and enter your seed. I think trust wallet is probably easier to use for you.
Trust Wallet or Metamask are both non-custodial wallets, wallet does not hold your private key, you are the real owner of your wallet. trust wallet or metamask are just doors to your "house", using any door you can enter your house. Therefore, you can transfer your wallet from trust wallet to metamask easily and vice versa.

I have added the network and custom coins many times in the past. I have the bsc network added, just no coins

Are you sure there is no capital letter in the password, also check for letter such as "i" and "l".
From another approach, if you are sure of the seed phrase, to be on the safer side, import you seed phrase to another wallet and check your coins , you can't afford making such mistakes now, in the same way, if you have the wallet address, you can also view it on wallets like Trust wallet without importing to view your tokens and coins.
Just to add again, I find Tokenpocket more better as it supports many networks and chains, just making it easier to use then Metamask. Other wallets you can try depending on your smartphone if that is the case is imtoken.

All wallets in every account
in MM remains the same whether your token is lost or not. I just copy the wallet address, look for it on Etherscan and at the bottom the section where you see transactions for that wallet address, click tab for Tokens. When you drag that screen up, you should find your token contract address. Once you have it, copy and paste it into Metamask in Tokens section. Your token will automatically be withdrawn from that point.

I think the Metamask password is not very important. It just serves to secure the wallet on the browsing. The most important thing you backup is the seed phrase. And you can change the password by re-importing the seed phrase. Your token will not be lost even if you have changed the login password, unless you lose the seed phrase, all your tokens will be lost.

It is easy to log in if we keep our 12 words keys which is easy for us to access. Metamask is really as secure site and I've stored most of my Token to be hold.

Metamask does not require a password if you want to set or uninstall Metamask and then reactivate it. Only 12/24 phrases you need to back up. You can reset the password after the import phrase. Actually Metamask also supports the phrase MyEtherWallet. If you create a wallet from MEW, you can also import MEW phrases into Metamask.

please go ahead and reset your account. as long as you have the seed and paraphase. you can recover and nothing will lose. Make sure you have the accurate details. some people has different or multiple accounts. Maybe you are trying to log into another account with different details. Be sure you are using the right credentials for the account. if not rest.

I always prefer to keep the private key of each wallet in addition.

No problem as long as you have your wallet private key. You can open metamask using new password but you may get different address when you open it. After you open your metamask with your new password you can simple import account your private key to recover your old wallet address with your funds.
