I think the writer of the article is just giving some perspective on how it has evolved over time, mostly top coins and uniswap.  Some young but very fast growing projects recently such as Sol, Avax, Polygon… still generate great interest, if not it has become popular and successful thanks to the development of bitcoin in the cycle.  Altcoins will still grow and create competition promoting compatibility with demand, popular coins may be replaced by better ones.

I would replace Tether with 0xMonero. Why would you invest in a stablecoin, it won't give you any profit. 0xMonero is a better store of value. Additionally, I would replace Cardano with NEAR protocol, it's superior technically in every way and has yield farming on Ref Finance. I would replace uniswap with Yape. Yape swap is highly undervalued. It performs like Uniswap V2 but puts a portion of LP deposits into yearn finance to increase your profits. There is no reason to be using Uniswap anymore. Also, I would replace Landshare with AlohaDeFi, they will be doing something similar and are under the radar.

As for cryptocurrencies that I know that I really popular this year 2021, first I will give it to Bitcoin, because being the first cryptocurrency is always giving it that advantage as the most popular. Next crypto currency that made a wave this year 2021 is Dogecoin.

Dodgecoin has been so popular this year with a lot of things that happened. And it even got support from Elon Musk and so many other people, plus the community even increased to a large extent. Solana is still one of the most favorite coins for this year, a project that puts forward developers and platforms that have grown a lot has made Solana a promising coin and has good fundamentals in the future

Ripple is still losing ground, it is strange that Solana and other blockchains were not mentioned.
I like that the current top 10 is starting to form exactly blockchains and not speculative coins like Ripple.

this year some of the assets that I mentioned are widely traded as well as long-term investment assets. I also did it for some assets.
this year there are a lot of popular ones, especially from projects that were just released in 2020 and are gaining momentum in 2021. I think towards the end of this year, there will be more new assets that will get the attention of the crypto community.

I see dogecoin to be one of the popular for this year as it was a forgotten project until Elon musk started hyping it, it rose from nowhere, it was not on the top 100 coins in CMC, trading around 0.02 but has been stable in top 10 in the market. A joking project that wasn't recognise , now in the tops. It deserve the recognition of most popular cryptocurrency for this year.

The thing is most of the good performing altcoin are not projects lunch in this year 2021 take dogecoin and Hex coun, for instance, these coins made some good interest growth this year but there are both projects from previous years.

This has year many coins saw a massive ATHs and took many investors by surprise giving back a high ROI. And by the middle of the year most of those coins dropped by more than 50% creating new ATLs. Outside Bitcoin we also have few other coin that made massive ROI such as Banana  listed both on coingecko and Apeswap. Currently most Nfts are doing well. Nothing has really changed for the most popular cryptos for this year because they're still the same at the top. Although a few have emerged and got into the top but that doesn't mean they'll remain there as a main stay. Just don't go into FOMO with those top coins and always be that someone who keeps on researching despite the market changes.

Well, they're all at the top but not means that all of them are good investments. I have my own choices and so you and the others too. But don't be too reliant on others opinion if it's about investing in the market because you don't have to be dependable with others choices.
There are a lot of coins to choose from and you have to make it very well as you decide so you won't have any problems buying any of those that you like.

Seems like this is a pretty good topic, Polkadot, Matic or Solana this is one of the coins that deserves attention this year and I think will get more attention from investors. In the future for sure these cryptocurrencies have these outstanding characteristics, I think it will grow and the value will increase in the future. Actually, we shouldn't focus only on the most popular crypto currencies, as they have already pumped and you are to wait for a drawdown to invest in them. But in addition to mainstream coins you can try something less popular or new, as coins with smaller marketing campaign can increase more significantly compared to those that are already in top, but consider risks please.

Consider the risk and always to have risk management system if you'll going to take your step

Yes, we should search for the other coins which have the same potential as the previous coins. But if that is about bitcoin, we should focus on bitcoin as bitcoin will increase so high in the future so we should try to buy bitcoin if the price drops. You do not have to focus on a new coin as we do not know if that coin can increase or not so we can try with the coin that already has a good history in the past. But every people will have their own way to determine which coin they should focus and find that coin and the important thing is we must analyze before we do something.

It would be great if the authors of the article indicated how they determined the popularity of the cryptocurrencies listed there. What did they base their popularity calculation on? Why did the authors miss BNB and SOL, which are in the top 7 by capitalisation and top 9 by daily trading volume..?

I think this article just gave some perspective on how it developed over time, mostly trending coins like Terra (LUNA) and Uniswap (UNI). Some young but very fast growing projects recently like Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), Polygon (MATIC) still generate great interest, otherwise it has become popular and successful thanks to bitcoin development in cycles.

2021 is a big surprise for a lots of Cryptocurrency traders and investors,  many people saw bitcoin becoming more pricey but what they don't see was the explosion of new blockchain projects and the fact that Cryptocurrency cap is now in trillions!  Some of the most successful altcoin in no particular order is as followed!

If you ask me to short list for popular crypto of 2021 then I guess that I will list only bitcoin and I am not having belief on any other coin to be sustaining in near future. Altcoins may come and go but bitcoin will stay with us to serve for us. I agree there are at least 25 coins are too popular in 2021 but I doubt how many of them will get into a list if we make in 2025 after the bitcoin's 4th halving? So, I guess it would be safer to call and invest only with bitcoins as of now.

If we list most other coins then naive investors will invest wherever we do suggest which might lead them to unexpected losses in the end. So, recommending bitcoin alone will be safer in my opinion.

The whole crypto market is tightly hooked up with BTC, whenever Bitcoin goes up the altcoin goes up and vice versa. The major contributor of crypto market cap are BTC and ETH. But again crypto market cap goes up only once bitcoin goes up. We rarely see crypto market going up when BTC is in red. The current bull market will last as long as BTC stands up.

This surely is an extremely foolish list, 2021 of cryptocurrencies is incomplete without mentioning the crypto that has grown the highest so far this year, Solana, not only has it boomed as a currency it also has created an ecosystem along with it in form of Serum, Radiyum, Grape Protocol, Audius  etc. I think it is also the fastest-growing blockchain ecosystem thanks to the solutions that it has provided, another major crypto this year was MATIC network which unbelievably solved the major problems faced by the Old Ethereum blockchain, even though ETH 2.0 is now on cards but until then MATIC is going to be a key game changer.

But why is nobody mentioning ShibaInu?

Well I agree in the article that those coins are the most popular cryptocurrencies in this year and also good for long term investments but I wonder why BNB is not included in the list, BNB is also a popular coin and Solana is good coin as well, this coin has potential in the future.

I am reading some good stuff about Polygon, but for now, I didn't make any moves in that direction! I can say that BNB comes in handy with the speed and cost of transactions, and thus they made nice progress in terms of price, I like it more than I like Ethereum!

I hold XRP for the few months but i sold this token just because of it's slow movement, It seems stable coin when i hold it. To me Solana and Matic are worthy candidates for the 2021 up-rally of alts. Both have had massive developments and since they started entering the launchpad markets more and more found it easier to build on them as opposed to ETH, which in turn led to more of the new projects finding themselves looking at the two networks as possibility to enter the market.

They are actually making their history among altcoins. With such potentials, rallying prices wasn't impossible but it surely will come anytime. I don't really have the most popular crypto, per say. What I know is some projects that may earn that tag. For 2021 the most popular cryptocurrencies in my opinion are BSC and MATIC, this will bring very high popularity in the future, because both have very good networks to use.
