We have all seen the price drops, the news articles, the videos and just straight chaos in the global markets. The politics have been especially entertaining to watch. Its like we're in the middle of the best TV show ever called life in 2022, haha. I mean seriously what a shit show.

I walk into work each day and all my coworkers ask me & hound me on bitcoin or tell me why it won't last, but most of them have no clue. They'll ask me if I'm still buying or holding or if I sold any, and I always tell them of course I keep buying. I just can't help but laugh at all the people who think Bitcoin is dead, when the markets are this crazy and the inflation is up this high and you can get bitcoin at a discount its always a smart decision to get more. In time all of this will pass and we will see new ATHs for years and years to come.

If you're in this, then be in it. And if you're out of it and spreading crap all over this forum then please GET OUT! HODL has lost its meaning in 2022, most people seem to be completely jumping ship (besides the majority on this forum). Now is the time to dollar cost average and accumulate while its getting cheaper. Even if it falls back to 3k or even to 1k who cares. Long term vision has always been set to the sky.

WE ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE. Stay positive, do not be dismayed and discouraged. Remember why we are here in the first place. It takes a little while to reach the top of the mountain from the gondola, but only a minute or two to ski all the way down the mountain! This is what is happening with Bitcoin right now. We are almost at the bottom of the hill about to get back on the lift and continue to rise. Me, i'm just enjoying the ride! All the people who never get back on the lift will never know the feeling of that fresh powder in the back bowls (sorry for anyone who doesn't ski in here w/ all the lingo).

Today I'm feeling just fine and dandy, i'd say peachy! Lets stack these chips, get your coins! Nobles didn't become nobles miraculously, they took it!!!! Hold your sword steady, and fight with poise knowing full well that we will end up on the right side of history.

I think you're definitely the guy i'm speaking to in this post. You have a nice little recipe for your posts lol make a claim, then insult, then pull some old quote out of your ass ahhahah. Hey having emotion and hope means that I am human. I'm trying to be positive light in this otherwise dark time and having some fun. I am looking at the long term picture for what Bitcoin has the chance to be over the course of my lifetime. I could be right I could be wrong only time will tell. 

A really optimistic thread amongst all the bad news  :'(

I am with you OP, and so are all the people who are in this community since its dawn.

Remember "Bitcoina" hack? Remember Mt. gox? BitInstant? CAVIRTEX? And how everyone reacted after all these incidents? 4chan/biz was flooding with "it's over" memes.

This crash is nothing compared to what's about to come  ;) Right now people(and HEDGE FUNDS) are treating it like another stock market(and they are right to do so), it's yet to be used with its intended purpose. As more and more people learn about bitcoin and its potential benefits, its value will continue to increase. And when this happens, it won't be just another "inflated" asset. Hopefully we will be alive to witness that day(yes, it's a long road ahead)

If you know what you are doing then its fine, you can make profits if the results came as expected or it can be a lesson, these bulls and bears are not new but for people who are investing may take sometime to get used to that compared to the traditional volatility range. Buying cheaper is the key to make more returns so if you feel this is the cheapest price then buy and stack it until your desired price range happens which may take a year or two but make sure you have enough backup funds in the meantime, don't expect to reap the profits very soon because you may lose the actual potential of your investment with short term trades.

Still trying to get my money back from mtgox.  Many others are as well.  If there were a reason to be pessimistic about the Bitcoin price, it would be that coming event.  When mtgox victims are eventually given the 200,000+ BTC sitting around waiting for them, I suspect it will lead to a massive selloff of BTC on the market.  This will likely be a short term event, but anyone even considering being overly bullish with leverage right now should be warned that they will likely be liquidated in the coming months.

Buy and forget is what this sounds to me. it's a bit careless but it's probably fine if you're doing it on an asset that has come back to life time and time again. I think there's a better strategy to accumulate more BTC but that requires more skills. Perhaps not all is willing to learn that and content on DCA. Whatever approach you are more comfortable with I guess?

It looks like a classic long-term investor vs. trader debate is about to start. Keep it going. My popcorn is ready hehe.

I guess experience is the best teacher, if we haven't seen a bear market, and this is the first time, then a newbie will lose his faith on bitcoin and totally give up. But for those who have seen this before, definitely we won't listen to FUD or any negative thoughts on bitcoin specially in this bear market. Just accept the fact and move on and wait for the next bull market. And for sure, majority of us will see each other again in 2024-2025 when BTC hits $100k or more.  ;D

For me it's good to hear those FUD though, I mean you can clearly see how ignorant are or some are really blatantly just wanted to attack bitcoin with their monger spreading. And then we will have a laugh moment because we know that is not true and then stay cool. And if we have the chance then we could rub it in to those personalities, sort of trolling them in social media.  :), tit for tat and see who is going to crack first.

One important step is to invest only money you afford to lose. Then you have a better chance neither FUD nor market changes scare you.

Reading the news, staying informed.. this is important. Afterwards, based on your knowledge you decide whether those news are worthy to act or not. Indeed, in most cases they are not worthy unless you have trader material and can get to multiply your funds only by paying attention to the market (of course, it's risky!).

Being positive is indeed a good advice. Bitcoin has a history of crypto winters and fantastic recoveries afterwards. We can surely hope this is yet another one that'll be followed by recovery.

Despite all the knowledge that a newbie may accumulate there is not really any way to explain to them how a bear market actually feels like, those which have not gone through one have no idea of how difficult it is and as such they overestimate the chances they have of holding their coins even under those circumstances, however if you are one of those which can in fact overcome it then no bear market will ever affect you as you will know what it is like and you will know the price will eventually recover.

Why would you do that? Information is just information, even FUD. The one who makes the final decision to buy or sell is you. Let's say in the worse possible situation, Bitcoin got a compromise and everyone rushed to sell the coin, how would you feel if you don't know about it and missed the chance to cut loss? Sound like a lot of people in this thread has become a Bitcoin cultist, not a sensible, cool-head investor anymore.

It's natural for a beginner to try to express interest that during a bear market it's time to take more. That's already put him in the right place a bit. But we've been through the long process of getting Bitcoin to the $20K point in a few seasons. Whether it's to treat a sense of concern or not, the OP is sure to try so he feels confident Bitcoin will reach its highest point in a short time. After a long process, it's time for a bear market to move through a vulnerable line.

Bitcoin Fud will always be there forever, its a thing that the whales and media use in manipulation of the market, anyone who falls for it doesn't really understand how the market is like, because those who are used to the Fud and know when to buy the dip with such fud are truly the winner

I hope you recover your btc from recovered funds from mtgox hack. It a good news for mtgox victims if the distribution happens but I'm sure there will be a lot of panic whenever victims started selling. For those who are new to space or have no idea about the distribution, It would be a disaster for them for sure!

It's nice that I've got an update from you OgNasty, Surely I'll get myself in touch with the mtgox happening and make myself ready for the massive selloff to buy some more BTC  ;)

I would suggest that bitcointalk is also crypto related, so you might want to stay away from here as well :D. But, I get the idea, I am not really staying away because seeing all those people who do FUD really helps me love bitcoin even more. Makes me feel like I am seeing something that others can't see and that is why I love it so much.

I mean it is like there is this hidden gem that nobody appreciates, and you know it is true value, and when it goes up in value and everyone wants a piece of it, you feel validated and relieved that it wasn't something crazy and you really did know what the real value of it was and you were the one that made profit from it the most.

This is mostly happening to newbies, FUD really affects the mindset of individuals whose knowledge about crypto is just limited. They got easily manipulated and change their mindset turning negative. But what I see, for now, FUDs aren't completely winning these days, newbies/newcomers had already learned from the mistakes of others as shared with them and they are now getting aware of the situation and ready enough to face the market challenge.

Many had made fun of us for the past years especially during the bear market of 2018. They keep blabbering about bitcoin being dead and there's no more hope on it. Anyone who invests on it will just regret and already lost their money.

Not until the bull run has came back and they became optimistic again. This is always the case that happens and those people that keep on talking negatively about bitcoin has really no idea on it and we need to prove nothing against them.

We just mind our own business and keep holding.

If you have been around for years, you know Bitcoin is dead to every one every time it enters a bear market.  I recently spoke to someone who said Bitcoin never dropped like this ever before.  Fiat wise, not.  Percentage wise, we had worse drops in previous years.  But instead of giving it a very quick, five minute Google search and finding out why Bitcoin rises and will never die, they rather have opinions based on what the TV, radio, newspaper or general public says about it.

I rather just give up and stop arguing with them when I know they only have eyes and ears open to what the general public or the 1% says.  The piece of information telling you that Bitcoin is decentralized is literally the first thing you get to learn when researching Bitcoin.  It is ignorance and laziness that leads to everyone rather speculating on what Bitcoin is and is not.

Is it not scary that they are insisting on convincing you about something you are into and they are not, just because they think what the media told them is the actual truth?  Like what the hell, does the current society not grow a brain to think with any more?

If you think 2018 was bad, I can tell you 2015 was worse.  It was the first time almost everyone actually thought Bitcoin was going to die.

Those colleagues of yours will change their tone when btc will record a new ath again. Am pretty sure they will ask similar question only in that time it will be "do you think it is too late for us to buy".
I can't say I blame their ignorance since they have not find it important to educate themselves about btc. Although I find it utterly ridiculous for people to consider an asset like btc that was traded at $0.1 arond 13 yrs back to $20k at current price to be dead. I wonder how many assets out there has achieved such success within that time frame! Yeah right.  ::)

Facts. Well, they always appear when Bitcoin is down and disappear when Bitcoin is up, the cycle is pretty obvious at this point and shouldn't even be bothered to be noticed anymore imo. It isn't even anything like saying that Bitcoin is a bad investment or anything, it's just a diss at some point for people losing money since it dipped down so bad.

I wouldn't really consider it as such, it's more like the information that most people are asking lined up to basically being FUD which is well, if told to an avid Bitcoin investor, would naturally be ignored. It's just trusting the asset you invested on, just like how old investors trusted the development of the internet hence the investment to google,apple. etc.

Oh yes, I’m holding everything that I could in the current bear market. In fact I’m further trying to buy more bitcoins and I also want to be one of those who were on the train at the right time and at right values. I’m just wishing that I will bag more before the bearish market breaks out and it seems that bitcoin and other coins are doing the same right now. So be careful and buy if you can!

I remember a moment like this happened in 2017 when the price of Bitcoin fell very deeply because of the regulations given by certain countries which made the Bitcoin price even more destroyed because many negative responses about Bitcoin would be extinct because of these regulations, but apparently in the winter of that year Bitcoin price soared and reached ATH at that time so people who still believe and have principles like you will get good results in the future and believe in something it is very expensive and most importantly be yourself and enjoy all these discounts.

If they want to see lower than what happened on 2018 then we'll give them 2015.

It's the same every time bear market comes, they're all negative to it and thought about that it's never going to recover. But thank goodness, despite that it's been down and corrected, it's different this time and sitting on estimating 1/3 from its ATH.

Now it is still too early to call articles like that, I think))) It seems to me that bitcoin still has quite a chance, and even quite real ones. So while we wait.

Losers will always be losers. Let them create a lot of FUDs and believe that crypto will be over, as long as we don’t ride on it, we will certainly win this game. What we have this time is not something that we should be threatened nor scared, but a very big opportunity to start accumulating bitcoin again. So never stop buying and holding, and do dollar cost averaging as it will take to a lot of profits when the bearish market turns to bullish.

^ Well probably not all FUD is caused by losers there are instances that it will cause by the whales, sometimes they will spread FUD so that losers will be always a losers. Spreading negative feelings about BTC has been there for how many years and that is why FUD has been discovered which is a short abbreviation of FUD - fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Look at the market now, showing a recovery that will probably lead to a bull market, and for sure those who have been in FUD will regret they were sold their BTC at an early stage during the bear market.
Remember always don't sell at a lower price.

The decrease in Bitcoin price and Altcoin prices is still normal. We know that it is in the bearish era, so what to do? Just waiting for the price to rise up in the next bullish era. That is why right now is the era for buying Bitcoin. Moreover, buying on average is good enough to add more Bitcoin. It is not easy to pass this bearish season, but we must do it. We don't need to panic and be losers because we know this bearish must end. If we learn the market cycle every 4 years, we must understand when this bearish to be over.

I remembered back then during my early days of doing Bitcoin, some of my contacts and even friends have unfriended and blocked me because of it. There was a certain “mentor” of a network marketing urging me to stop doing Bitcoin and insteasd focusing on sticking with them. But I didn’t. So he spread it to thousands of members of the team that I am now into “Bitcoin scam” and my relationship with them is over.

But did it stopped me? Nope! I continue my crypto journey and prove them wrong that it gives me a better life until now than before during my days as a network marketer.

As the old saying goes, “When one door closes, another one opens”. I’m just grateful of the crypto community (even here in Bitcointalk) who have been one of my sources of learning so much about Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, etc., and has given me opportunities to expand and step up my skills in this space.

If Bitcoin returns to the bullish state, most of the Mt. Gox victims will decide to HODL and wait for a higher price, before they sell.
I don't expect a major price crash because of the Mt. Gox customers getting back their coins.
Anyway, I hate being positive for the sake of being positive. I just ignore the FUD and keep HODLing. Almost all the FUD is pure nonsense anyway.
A bunch of shady crypto companies collapsed and the BTC haters keep insisting that BTC is a scam. It doesn't make any sense.
It's like JP Morgan Chase going bankrupt and everyone saying that the US dollar is a scam. There's no correlation between those two. ;D
The stock markets are in a price drop/bearish phase as well, but nobody is spreading FUD about stocks being a big scam and that they are going to collapse down to zero.

I don't know if others have also felt this, but during bear markets I feel like I'm smarter. There's a certain feeling of superiority when you look around you and you can see other people's fear and panic but you remain cool and unperturbed.

Just a few days ago, I watched the interview of my country's incoming central bank governor. He belittled Bitcoin. He finds Bitcoin absurd, based on the greater fool theory. My feeling of superiority was somehow boosted and I was smiling inside while watching the cretin.

Well, I just hope this Bitcoin hubris of mine will prove me right in the end. If not, everybody's free to laugh at me. :D

I agree that it is not going to be that difficult, it will probably be reaching to a level where it is 100k+ or more, and people who are buying right now are the people who have been around for a long time. I have been trying to make a profit for a while now, and I know for a fact that all the coins I bought right now, will be giving me a good profit not long from now. It's the only thing that keeps me happy during a bear market.

Let's be honest and say that it's not a reason to be happy to see crypto going down all the time, of course it's going to be a sad affair. But to know that we are going to end up with a good profit later on keeps us from getting even more upset.

There are and those people are also like you that are not new here anymore in this market. It's not that you guys are smart and they are dumb but it's just you have more experienced on this field.

You already know what bitcoin went through so despite of the crashing of its price and the entire crypto market, you still remain calm and in control of the situation. For now you are smiling because you think the central bank governor of your country knows nothing about bitcoin but what if eventually he will recommend to completely ban the use of bitcoin and cryptos in your country? I don't think you can still smile after that.

One thing I've come to discover is that most people that hate bitcoin didn't hate it because they really want to, but because they missed buying it when it was way cheaper, now out of jealously and envy, they wish Bitcoin to fail so they can laugh at those that are holding it and say "I told you so".
They are always disappointed when bitcoin begins to rise that they have no choice but to hide their faces in shame, but when the price starts declining, they come out from their hiding holes to chare their ego.
Bitcoin is here to stay, if you are a hodler no matter how small, Congratulations, you are over 1 million steps ahead of many who are yet to Come on board.
When bitcoin finally hits $100,000 usd and above, I will to see the faces of those that are fudding it right now.

It does take time as well as a certain experience with crypto to understand that any negative news about BTC is most likely FUD.

It is more difficult for some people to deal with negative news about BTC when they come as some sort of "a valuable and thoughtful" opinion which comes from people with a strong reputation in finances. Just bear in mind that everyone is entitled to have his opinion and you dont have to accept it. Moreover, some of the people sharing such an opinion have whats called "a financial interest" which means that their opinion not only biased but serves their own interest.
 

Good write up and I couldn't agree more with all of your assessments here. Being someone who's been "in to" bitcoin since 2013, the amount of FUD that I've heard over the years is insane.  A lot of the FUD is due to either pure ignorance or because people simply don't like bitcoin because of what it represents ( a change to the current currency foundation).  If you've done your homework, believing in bitcoin/cryptocurrency/blockchain, then stick to your guns.  Educate others as well when you hear FUD..don't let them off the hook! If you don't know much about bitcoin, then study up so that you combat FUD.  I feel like there are far too many people not able to do this, and this doesn't help anything.

That's exactly the point and like I said earlier, lets not forget to remind all those new investors about the point that some advanced investors spread FUD to lower BTC price. Unfortunately, its the reality and we all have to deal with it.

They hate Bitcoin and they hate people who put risk their money and that was because they don't understand crypto and they are not even willing to accept that they are wrong with their assumptions. They of course simply throw negativity just to discourage people and to go along with them but somehow, only a fool will listen to them, many will try and be somewhat happy with the output.

It is not a surprise, it is to imply that only risk-takers will find good deeds in crypto investment, not meant for everybody.

Yup, this is so true. When I was still new with crypto and when I see those negative news that's being thrown by the media and the negative words from those "experts".
I always have that feeling that it's going to be the end of the market and even also saw those new tech that might replace blockchain before as they're highlighting that it's more promising than it. How did it ended? Realized that they're all FUD and there's only one agenda for all of those.

Completely agree. Basically dealing with FUD is like a working out using some weights, but mental. Endurance and strength comes with a certain training.

After reading any FUD news, questions like - what is the real reason someone posted it? This might also help.

You’re not a rational investor SoftFacts, so don’t talk on other’s behalf. He doesn’t say ignore information, but we should also the remember fundamentals of Bitcoin and not get blinded by fud. That simple.

Uh oh, I don't think that would stop me from smiling. It's going to be more interesting. Let him do that and we'll see how it will work out. It would really be interesting. I'm really looking forward to how it will be accepted by the rest of the country. But this early, I confidently think it will not work out in their favor. While the open world, especially among them public figures, may not be that friendly with Bitcoin, I'm sure it isn't the same off the camera.

Well, it's a common in journalism to make those news but the question really will be built at the end of it. We may think of the common way of reporting but when it's completely biased and there's no positivity on it, there's only one reason why it is made.
And, that is to make everyon feel scared of that news so that they'll add up to the selling pressure and will create that FOMO to the ones that have a weak mental capacity towards the market.

I shouldn't be surprised about what is going on in the market now and the funny part is that most investors are still bordered about the current situation of the market now. We need to stay strong and positive just like during the fall of Bitcoin I'm the year 2018 when the price of Bitcoin falls drastically. Take take the news that we like and ignore those ones will see as untrue. So many fud is coming so we need to stay strong and positive.

Exactly, FUD is for losers but we can gain from their action by buying the coins that they are dumping. Trading is only for smart people, you don't use your emotion here, you use your brain because that will give you a chance to be profitable in trading.

Thing is, when bear market comes, people easily panic and these people are those who bought during the bull run or those who got FOMO.
So, crypto investing or trading is not really for everyone.

Think of the existing FUD as an obstacle to success. Stay patient and calm in responding to FUD

I totally understand there’s a lot of fear out there and it seems to be contagious. I personally know many people that sold some of their BTC because they bought into the panic.

On the other hand, I am holding onto all my coins with dear life and would never sell cheap. I was never looking at Bitcoin as a short term investment. For me, my crypto investments are not about swing trading. I’m all about the long hold, I know BTC is truly revolutionary technology and it’s value will increase significantly over a longer time horizon.

When you do lack experience and awareness towards the market then you would really be having that common reaction on which you would really be freaking out whenever you do see that price are plummeting or crashing which even experienced ones would really able to feel it out which is normal since we are just humans and does have emotion.

Be cool or saying not to panic is easy but when you are on the actual situation on where you do see your portfolio is dropping then for sure you would really be having that reaction
or being that emotional which i considered normal.It is on the way on how you do control up things because if you dont then you would really be having a problem
on what are the things you should do on certain conditions.

In short, according to my understanding of what you have done this case is that no matter what happens to the price of Bitcoin, even if it drops by 1000$ one you will not be affected instead you will buy and you will still buy and hold on to it until it is. rise again, because your outlook on Bitcoin will remain positive. You have a pretty good mindset as a Bitcoin holder and I admire you for that matter. Let me emulate such a good habit as a bitcoin enthusiast.

Nice speech, story, anyway we just have to return to the real discussion about bitcoin, the price is not everything, so for those who ask, it will die!, let's stop proclaiming that bitcoin will return, to hell whether they believe or not, bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency, you are your own bank, among many other things, we talked about that?, that's what you have to tell them.

Hah, thanks. I'm glad so many people have digested this and provided some input as well. By far the best currency and just the fact that you have full control of your keys and nobody can put a stopper on that is reassuring in 2022. Its one thing to have bulky physical assets of value but the salability and independence that you have from BTC is the true proof in the digital pudding. Its one of the only ways that the poor folks in Ukraine were able to flee to safety so fast with their net worth so long as they had crypto, or NFTs etc etc. I guess in this case your Network really is your net worth  ;D 8)

Negative statements was being thrown at Bitcoin for years but it's still standing firm until now proving that the verdicts of negative people are wrong. Those who are creating negative speeches and fud about Bitcoin are those who missed buying it before because of doubt and still doubting until now despite the visible proof of the profit that it could provide. No matter what they say, Bitcoin will always be a well-established cryptocurrency and is trusted by lots of investors.

How about into its early days?

Its not something new or shall we say its already in default that whatever good a thing is then there are still those people who cant really just appreciate into its utility or benefits and would be finding a hole

just for them to make some criticism.This doesnt only limit out on Bitcoin but in almost things in the world where people do really have always that something to say or against with it.
You someone who do have that experience and able to see Bitcoins potential then you would really just simply ignore these things and do stick out into your goals or target
towards your investment since you do already know and been aware on how this market behaves and how it do works and things in related to it.

it is if you believe in FUD or not digging if this is true , then yeah it is for Losers , and also if you are believer then FUD will never come to your senses .
and this is what the advantage of those who manipulate the market because while they are panicking whales are having chances to take our funds.

Most people that are panic selling thought that investing into cryptocurrencies could be a ticket for them to be rich in just a short amount of time. They didn't do any research of it before investing and not aware of its volatility. The people that are still here despite the market condition will be the true winners once the bull cycle starts again. As Warren Buffet said, when everyone is fearful that is the time you should be greedy in investing.

Another conspiracy theory I'm thinking, maybe they regret giving up on owning cheap bitcoin like us and they're trying to attack us, frustrate us and sell cheap bitcoin, and they are people who quietly buy bitcoins at a cheap price afterwards. I don't believe these people won't own any bitcoins, they definitely bought them and are wanting more. They are just trying to distract us so don't believe what they are saying.
