Hi everybody,

I am thinking of doing a limited edition of 16 "Scam Coins"

Inspired by anarcoins, microsoul lucky coin, and the collapse of FTX this coin would be like a lottery. 15 won't have any funds on them (FTX), and one lucky coin will have all the funds of the 16 coins (Sam). If each coin should be funded with 100,000 sats, the lucky one will get 1,600,000 sats and the others get rekt.

It's an idea, I am just looking if that could interest someone and if it is feasible. Don't hesitate to comment and show your interest or not. The serial of the coin could be 0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-a-b-c-d-e-f so that the winner could be determined by the hash of a block. I would probably take one coin  ;D. Of course there is still a lot of question: material of the coin, design, price,... this is an open thread.

Hey,

Thank you for your interest.

I counted 25 people interested.

We could do 25 coins: serials 01-25.

Once everyone received the coin, we could choose a block. If the serial number corresponds exactly to the last 2 digits of the block (or the following), the coin will be funded with all the funds. I or all the participants would send the funds to an escrow (MJ) waiting that everyone gets his coin. MJ will then load the coin.

Funding 0.001/coin
winner gets 0.025 BTC

I would do 1 design, a tribute to "anarcoins".

edit. I think it would be funnier if we have to redeem the coin to know if we are rekt or not... Has anyone an idea how to do it? The value of the coin would be a pure speculation too.

That is how Microsoul did it with their "Lucky Coin" concept....
There were 10 coins per round.. 1 funded with 1 btc, the rest 0.01

Hey all,

MJ, another member and I have found a way to generate the keys and assemble the coins so that we cant link the keys to the coins.

The third part will generate the keys, MJ will assemble the coins and distribute them so that I can participate.

We'll do 30 coins.

The funding will be 0.001 BTC so the winner gets 0.03 BTC. Let us know if you would more or less funding.

I could imagine that with a funding of 0.002 BTC the total price would be around 100 USD. And the winner could win 0.06 BTC (almost 10x, quite a good scam) . we can decide this later.

I personally disagree with the above. I think that as the makers you should absolutely have one of these coins and should not be excluded. Clearly this is a one off and not a "business deal" so there is not really a financial gain for you three to produce these, therefore the reason to make them is to have one. I would be willing to give up my spot for you three to have one (though I would really like one ;)). Just my opinion though. Excited to see the final product.

This sounds like a good idea to me. Everybody can have “factory” funded pieces while the winner also comes out WAAAAY ahead…. Just like any scam should…

Sounds good to me too. Regardless of the final decision made (.001 or .002), I am totally in for the coin, and would like to retain my reservation spot. Keep up the good work!

Edit: on a second thought, a total rekt edition (winner takes it all) sounds fun too !  8)

Frank, this is absolutely amazing!   I know you had me on the ? section of the front, now that the price and funding has been discussed, I am 100% for it.  Please count me in.  Oh, and I vote for the 50% loss version, that way there is inherently some value in the coin ongoing.

I think we should do the "50% loss version and a larger payout for the winner" . But I must admit that I have a weakness for the "rekt edition" (Cf tweetious).

silver, black enamel, 40 mm, holo on the back.
keys generated by MoparMining LLC, holo applied by minerjones..... so that no one will know which coin will be the winner.

big up to bigtimespaghetti for the design and to microsoul for the concept (kind of lucky coin).

amount of BTC and scam will be decided by MoparMining and minerjones. One lucky owner will get rich (SBF), the others will get rekt (or almost rekt, will discuss the details with mj, mopar and the forum members) ...

we could generate addresses - give those to frank to randomly pick one for funding. but then make no visible addresses on the coins? instead randomly assign the pks to the coins. one would have to peel it to find out.

or maybe frank has a plan already - it is possible I have forgotten or missed it. :)

I like the “peel to find if it’s loaded or not” idea…. There’s no reward without risk! I’d keep mine for a bit to see if others peel and somebody wins it and then maybe peel if nobody has. Or maybe you could even turn it into a game with clues or something as to which one is actually loaded

1) Mopar creates the private/public key pairs. He prints the private keys & hands them off to MJ.
2) MJ randomly allocates the private keys to coins & applies hologram.
3) Afterwards, Mopar sends electronically the public keys to Frank
4) Frank randomly selects a public key and loads it.
5) Mopar confirms that the loaded public key  corresponds to a coin public/private key (ie double checks that it is an address from the provided list)

Optionally: The public keys list is publicly posted, so everyone who peels can confirm that the corresponding address of the private key, is included in the coins address list.

Good suggestion.

Mopar could post the addresses, and a block will decide which one will be loaded. (as for raffles)
We also have to define the loaded Amount and the % for the winner....

but I generate the keys/addresses - give only the keys to minerjones for assembly - he never sees address list - he assembles them before one is loaded so no way to know which one will be loaded - then randomly select one - like Frank suggests and that one gets loaded.

the only way to know who the winner is would  require peeling.

Then that would leave rekt coins with a 0.0005BTC load and the "winning/rug pull" coin with a 0.0205BTC load.  To me, the 0.002BTC contrubution offers the best balance of scam and not breaking the bank on a 40mm coin.

I like 2stouts idea. Generally I would be in for anything ranging from 0.001 to 0.004 BTC per coin-buyer. -> I think we should either aim for a a clean sum for the "winner" coin or for a clean sum for the rekt coins each.
In your example the clean sum means 0.001 per rekt coin, which is probably the better way than vice versa -> for example 0.05 for the winner and remaining 0.03/40 = 0.00075 for the rect coins. With other total sums (more or less than 40*0.002 = 0.08) we can also find some "good looking" distributions.

The way Mopar describes it sounds reasonable regarding true unknown winner coin. Maybe some way to prove it would be nice (invite a thrid party to both MJ and Mopar). Not that I don't trust you guys, but it would exponentially increase trust as 4 people instead of 2 would need to be compromised.

Agree, it's ultimately up to Frank but the spirit of his words seem to lean toward community involvement, which is why said it appears a vote will be needed.  Also, appears doesn't mandate anything but merely hints.

perhaps if you let the coin sit - but with no identifying marks on the coin ie no firstbits - there will be no way to see if you won vs lost. so you peel and you lost and its 1000 sats, you will then spend 2000 to 4000 to transfer it - or would you simply leave it on the peeled and exposed private key?

either way I guess it is still up to Frank. but I will not be participating in buying any of the coins if all the coins are loaded.

Based on what's already been discussed, the sat load wouldn't be anywhere near that low if this is direction chosen, so not really an applicable example.  Either way, whether loaded or not, if folks choose to drop out and not participate, someone is eagerly waiting on deck and will be happy.

I like the idea of funding with .005 btc for each person. It allows the winner to get a decent chunk o’ change while not feeling completely smashed if you lose the draw. I don't there should be any type of vote - it should just be Frank deciding. my 2 sats. If there is going to be a vote, then there still doesnt need to be one because the winning vote will be to have all coins funded because the majority while wanting a coin reflecting being "rekt" will not accept the risk to be totally "rekt" They will want to have some of their funds back.

Disagree as what you are referring to is totally rekt.  You can still get rekt if a significant portion of your investment is lost.  Even FTX isn't at zero and is still ranked 217 in terms of market cap.  I'm thinking a totally rekt edition would be more appropriate and applicable to a Yogg/Cold Cunt coin.

   Yeah 0.001 Funding is the way to go and not totally rekt at all...so gotta agree with 2stout on that.

   Would like my coin to have bits on it so I can treat it as a loaded coin and thus it will remain so in my collectables
I like both ideas. 0.001 funding seems collector friendly and still amounts to quite a bit for the rug-pull coin. Also I'd prefer to chop the funds, one winner coin and the rest with a minimal loading amount remaining, gotta agree there with Krogoth and 2stout.

Never read "coins must be peeled to determine a winner".

What I do care about is a coin that plays with the scam terminilogy, ideally in different ways (references in design, as well as the loading aspect). However I don't care what everyone does with their coins. Imho you can hodl for 30 years and peel then or peel right away.
Actually I think it's even more fun if everyone decides by themselves. If for example 1/3 of collectors peel and don't find they are the winner, it also becomes more enticing for the remaining to peel. Could be some interesting dynamic.

very true - I have gone back and re-read what Frank has posted - he was originally going to use a block to decide which coin was funded (only a single coin getting funded)

he did say maybe about doing a small amount to each coin with "winner" getting the majority but then also said he liked the "rekt" version better.

and that is where I was getting that the whole point should be to peel them to see who was the winner.

Nothing in this whole endeavor should be because of something I "prefer" or "want" nor should it be about anyone else's "preferences" or "wants" except Frank's. and that is simply my opinion.

I have no hand in how this whole thing goes down except to generate the keys - which I have done. They are printed and in my safe. They will be provided to minerjones for assembly. Even if he was to record each and every key to later retrieve the addresses - he would not know which would be the winner if the coin(s) are not funded until all coins are sold. And if he decided to "steal" the funds, it could only point to him or I that would have had possession of the keys and pretty sure neither one of us would steal these funds.

So, to clarify - all of my posts are simply my opinion - if they come across as otherwise, please take note - it is only my opinion. I have zero control over how this is to be done.

edit: this very much also is reminiscence of the "lottery ticket" theme that scamkey was trying to do before he scammed and ran. No one would  know if they were a winner unless they destroyed the card - so the more that were destroyed without a winner would make the remaining ones more "valuable" and "enticing" to buy. So, I can see your point on that @kryptowerks

This is a great idea. I’m going to work on a scam coin “ rug pull” style design and see what I can come up with when I get back home. Would be a cool “type set” of coins to collect

I know I am bit late to the game, but wanted to share my comments.  I think krogothmanhattan summed up my thoughts.   I honestly won't peel my coin, as I want it as a collectible if it has any value at all.   To me it's not about finding out if you are rekt or got lucky (maybe that will change in 10 years... lol).  However, for now it's just another piece of the Bitcoin history as shared from this group, I love it!

Have not and will not. I wouldn't destroy a collectible. Plus as long as the bitcoin remains unclaimed, there will always be some "lotto ticket" value added. and say it is claimed, then the value will remain with it being a collectible limited mintage and original holo from a great physical crypto artist
