Title: Bet on live game or while game hasn't started yet?
Post by: cabron on June 25, 2023, 05:57:28 PM

Cast your bet in a match that have yet not started or bet when the game is already live?
It must have been asked before but in case new sports bettors have not yet read such thread, reply back your opinion about it.

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10

I prefer going live for a match that is likely to end 0-0 at half time and then waiting until it gets to 60 mins and going in for over 0.5 goals if the game is still goaless at 60mins, the least odd you can get at this time is BTW 1.50- 1.57 depending on the league, most top leagues offer 1.50 in this case. That's a 50% return on your investment, and it works for me 80% of the time. It's a great strategy, but it takes time. It will not make you rich immediately, but your chances of winning are always 95-98%.

If the money line is less than 1.30, it climbs to 1.50-1.80 if the game is still goaless after 30 minutes, however live matches are good if you are only staking on a single game. If you want to run a multibet, place your bet before the game begins.

If you think a club or a team would win a certain match, you can wait for the live matches to start, the longer it takes to score the first goal, the higher the odds become. This is what I like going for with in-play matches. For other in-play, I do not like going for them.

People should be careful of in-play matches, they are faster to win, which means to lose too is faster. And losing is very common.

What can be most dangerous in in-play are underdog that may be winning with like 2 goals, the big team losing odd will be increasing and the small team odd will be decreasing. But this does not only happen to big teams. It can be big and big team too, or small and small team or any team. It can happen to any club in a way the winning team will have small odd that may attract gamblers, but many of the rematches go otherwise in a way the gambler might lose.

As a sports bettor, you should really expect that change of line while the match is approaching. Especially, of course, in live betting.

But I'm more curious about your example. Do you mean the moment the game began, the pre-match odds from @1.75 turned to @4.35? As in when the game began? The jump of odds is quite distant and these are the possible scenarios that I think happened to your concern:

- Maybe the status of those players under "game-time decision" or what would be called it in other sports, are now officially out when the game starts? But for that huge gap of odds when the game began, maybe those players are really key players or a "big deal" on that team

- Or maybe, you just think that the line moves when the game began but actually, the game was already started, maybe several minutes ago, and it was an early dominance by either one of the teams resulting in that quick jump of odds in the "live betting".

Personally, I don't have a single preference on whether to bet only in pre-match odds or during a live bet. Hey, both are worth trying. :)

If I don't have the time to watch the game (which I don't most of the time), I just leave a bet on the game on lines that I think would retain more value than other lines. If I have time, I prefer to bet on live and cash out immediately when I see that something is about to go wrong on my bet - kinda like preventing a loss before it occurs. Most casinos allow that on live bets and it's one of the safest ways to make money on sports betting that not a lot of people are aware of.

It all depends on the odds and the capital you are willing to put out for it that's what sport bet, on days that I have more capital to gamble and I am not looking to take risk in my selection, I bet on the odd I believe is most likely to play out and then stake on it.

In cases where I have little Capital and actually want to make more out of the game, I wait let the game start playing out and then I stake on the best possibility that had increased odds after the game has started.

Betting on live games is what I preferred so that I can analyze the current condition of players or team since some players getting injured in-game or late announced injured that will destroy your bet if that player is a key player.

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10

This is the beauty of betting live games, You have the choice to skip betting when odds went down significantly on both ways because you don't need to place any bets on games that you are already uncomfortable. I always use live games to bet strong teams that have a rough start to get a higher odds on prematch. This strong team will eventually recover later on that will give you high odds in return.

My way of betting is about 90% in placing the bets before the game and keeping them until the end.
Only on specific occasions I place a bet during the game, only if I see an opportunity, and only if I am following the match live

You have to be very controlled to place bets during the game and not get carried away by the emotion and make risky bets.
Everyone has their own strategy, but I get good results by simplifying my bets as much as possible. Usually my strategy is to bet on single wins, some specific championships I do multiple wins, and rarely do I bet on under or over goals.
This is where I get the best results.

The best is to place bets before the game has started if you are confident enough that this event that you have chosen to bet on will be a winner and also all predicting websites, news, analyses says the same and back your choice.

I personally prefer to bet on live games as I don't like trying my luck before the game has started,I also choose games that I can watch on live streams, nowadays almost all leagues even low ones you can find stream for them and while I watch the game I create an idea in my mind as what the best bet will be,usually I play with over/under goals most of the time in live games or total goals from a specific team.

Live betting is great for those who like to increase the tension and excitement of watching live games, and besides that, live betting can be very profitable and fun, especially if you are good at making quick decisions.
and I prefer live betting because with live betting, I can easily realize how different the game is once it starts and this will make me serious and tense while watching, and I value the difference more when watching live.

When a game starts and you see how the the dynamics of the game, you can have an idea of what the final outcome of the game can be if you are properly able to observe how the game is going. I can cast my bet on a live game on that condition where I missed making the prediction or analysis for the game before the game started. I do not do it all the time, but only at times when I know that the outcome of the game can be predicted from how I notice and observe the game to be going.

You may have a point on this, seeing them live will give you a hint how they will perform with the rest of the game.
However, expect the odds will change as well. So don't expect too much about the selection of odds.
But if you happen to bet before the start of the game and you are seeing a different results once the game is playing,
you can always cash out, if the bookie is still allowing you to cash out, at least not losing much from your bet.
Because there's only time duration where you can cash out your bet, otherwise, wait for the result of the game.
And this decision depends on the sports you are into, and how well you know the athletes involve.

in my opinion it depends on each person's strategy, for example in cases of games in the main leagues, I'm talking about the premier league, la liga, serie A, bundesliga and liga1, if you are watching it on tv you will see that there are some small delays and if if you are watching on the internet, you can also run the risk of crashing and spending a long time waiting to resume, and this affects a little when placing bets, now if the games are broadcast in the casino itself, because there are some leagues with the usa league and the NBA and some others that are broadcast in casinos

so it may be easier for you to bet, but that is if you have already done an analysis of the game and you have seen that team x is better but you need confirmation, and in order to have that confirmation you will have to watch the game live for a few minutes, now on the over and under goals market it may be more advantageous to place live bets. it all depends on what kind of market you feel most comfortable with. In my case I use both options. but in the case of the big soccer leagues I always place bets before the games and now with the holidays in the big leagues I don't have anything to bet on, I tried to bet on the games of these small leagues but I'm doing very badly

This is so me!  :)

Most of the time i do really miss out on watching a certain game live on which even i do make out a bet then most of the time i do just simply trying to see if those bets did won or lose.
If i do have that vacant time or something that it would really be in great timing on which there's nothing something been doing then i might really be able to check out and see it live.
I do make out bets before the game or it hasnt started yet.I dont really like on betting on something which odds do keeps on changing as the game goes on.
I do want to be fixed because you do know on what would be your potential winning if the match is over and not something that you would be expecting some good
odds but later on it did make out some adjustments.

Betting on a live match can be so confusing to betting on games that haven't started yet. Cause the live games is where the odds makers find it easy to deceive gamblers by making up a high  deceptive odd in favor of a team that could end up losing the game. One of the most disadvantage of betting in live game is that of not been privy to certain information about an on going match that the gambling site have already gotten knowledge of and then use odds to attract glambers in betting for it only to end up having a backlash in the play, by then the gambler has already placed the bet. So I prefer betting on a game before it kick off after making my analysis and getting my strategy in place.

Usually it's not so good to bet when matches have started because live bets have often big margins, so odds can drop from 1.75 to 1.71 for example just because the scheduled time of the beginning of the match has been reached, even if players haven't started to do anything. Bets with fix odds allow you to bet at the current instant without having to think about how actual probabilities will change till the beginning (or till the end if live betting is available) of the match.

Personally, I prefer to bet before the game started since that’s the concept of prediction for me and I have to focus on the game so I don’t want to get disturb just because I have my bet especially if I’m watching the game live as well. Though there are times where I bet during the match but I can say its more stressful especially if you bet on a different side.

Better on live games its still way risky than actually betting on events and games that haven't started yet. But the facts is that betting on any match is also a risk because no one knows the possible outcome of the  game. Sometimes I have when betting on live games end up being more frustrating than usual because sometimes the moment you place your bet on a match which money line is a 1.50 odds at half time the outcome might eventually change the moment you place the bet.

I would prefer to bet before the match starts.
Because I really like things that make myself curious and doing independent research before placing a bet and betting before the match starts for me it will be more profitable for me because the odds haven't changed quickly and we have plenty of time to do research.
If you bet when a match starts, the odds will always stop and when any club looks to win the odds will get worse and the profit you will get will be bad.

Well, if the platform allows you to cash out in the middle of the match, you can get easy money off of it. It may not be as big as you can get, but there's still some money to be had on it. The flexibility of live betting is what makes it more attractive to bettors. You can know which guys in the team are out in the last minute, and who will be the replacement if any. The fixed odds offered by pre-game bets however, are also good especially if you are betting on an underdog that performed unexpectedly well in a game that they're not supposed to be on top.

I prefer to bet on a game way before it started.  I observed that odds are better during those times.  While live game maybe more exciting I also find the odds during the live game drastically changes to worse especially when the favorite is leading.  Aside from that betting on live game can upset us when are watching the game and think that we are sure about who will win is then bet on that team but eventually the result is the opposite.

Well the sense of placing a bet is to win and I don't see anything as being bet on a favourite club and not on the possibility of winning the match,  even if I am a fan of a club,  once I am sure that their opponent is stronger than them and have high chances to win the match,  I will select the potential club against my favourites clubs because of my ticket to win.

Live games have been the most helpful in sport betting and I have won a lot of bets using that feature at least it gives you the chance to predict the outcome of the match easily most especially when the match is already in the second half,  the possibility to win becomes high.

You know everyone is having the strategy that's working for him, so you will have to go for what's working for you. When am gambling, I prefer placing my bet before matches that are yet to start, am always taking my time and choosing the games which I will be betting on, but immediately a match have started and I decide to place a bet, then I will end up losing, I don't really know the cause maybe its because am not always settled at that moment so am always losing, since I notice am always getting it wrong then I stopped it because I was just wasting money on it. Before any match start I will take my time and select the teams which I will be betting on, if the matches start, I will just keep on monitoring my bet.

Really depends on the situation if the game or fight is so tight then I may have to cast my bet during live and one more reason about that is there might be some sudden movement about the lines during live mainly if the suspected outcome is not that likely to happen.

But when I'm somehow confident about who will be the winner then that is the time to cast my bet much earlier as at that time, there could be some great odds especially if I'm rooting for the underdog(s) to upset the favorite(s). Other reason why I will have my bets in advance is if I have some scheduled errands later that day.

Each of these has its own challenges. Maybe if I had lots of money and was used to it, I'd do both. because usually if you make a bet before the game and the results match or are close, the results will be bigger and very profitable. But this is how it is, high gain, high risks. Vice versa if betting during the game, especially when it is nearing the end, there may be less risk but also less gains.

Live betting can be fun if you watch the match live. You can evaluate the current form of a player or team, changes in tactics or injuries that occur during a match. For example, if one team is the clear favorite but the weaker team is lucky enough to score an early goal, the odds can change drastically giving you an advantage over if you had placed a pre-match bet. But as others have mentioned, it really depends on the specific case and your betting strategy. I generally only use live betting if I'm watching a game at the same time.

Matches that are far from the day it will hold use to have large odds prior to the day it will happen, this is because the event is yet to capture too much attention and so predictions are always difficult and then the bookies will placed big odd to attract bettors to make drastic decisions because of greed in their odds and as the event reach the day, it get reduce because people already knows who will win and who will lost, they also do that to reduce their own risk of losing money to you. That's why in that day, you will be seeing something like 1.2 odd, 1.11 odd and if the team you are betting on is having 70% winning chances, you may see odds as small as 1.01 odds.  ;D

I usually play with pre-match bets, not usually live. I'd much rather see the result AFTER the match, and not bother myself with the changes that occur related to my bets during the match. I've tried it a few times before, it was a huge pain in the ass especially since I enjoy watching the game themselves. Worrying about my bet while watching? Not so much. Granted in those few times I have tried to play with live bets, so a big change to odds isn't something unknown to me (another factor why I don't do live).

The odds will automatically reduce in half or more when a game begins - but certainly, a good gambler can easily predict a win from when a game is started already... It stands like an advantage sometimes and in most cases of very sure wins, those options aren't available.
I would prefer betting on live games too... The feeling when a game has begun -say, 30 minutes ahead is always different,.... Most times, you'll wager on a game based on the club's previous performances but other tims, most games are not guaranteed.

I'd whatever I think is gonna make me win, I don't have a favorite on them but I just cast bets when I think that I've got a better feeling and the odds are quite reasonable.

Especially in Dota 2 games, I know that I've got an idea on the teams and players and also watching out some specific news if there's a player that won't be able to play and a stand-in will come for their live match.

So, any will do as long as I've got a good percentage and accuracy.

Actually for me it depends on the game.
There are some games that looks really unpredictable even when the match is on. These kind of matches are very difficult when playing a live bet. Another bad thing about the live bet option is that, the likely outcome comes with very small odds so you have to stake high. If you go for the bigger odds then you're taking more risk. What's funny is that that option with very big odd might have been a very small odd before the game.
In live bet you have to always follow the game so you'll know how to bet, it requires more attention.
I play both options but I feel placing your bet before the game is better for me because I can just sit back and enjoy the game after betting.

More when the match hasn't started compared to live bets, only do Live bets when I'm quite sure that there are very attractive odds that I can take a chance on, or when I forget to place a bet and the match has already started, for example during the NBA finals, I sometimes forget to place a bet and when the match starts with the favorite team lagging behind the point, the odds are really more tempting than pre-match bets, but the odds change often so quickly and not always live bets and also pre-match bets provide more benefits, because the two cannot be compared and bettors have their own respective preferences.

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10

It really depends though, if the odds of the team that I'm going to bet is not that attractive, then maybe I will wait till the game progresses and see how it goes. Maybe the team that you are going to be bet might not play good and become the underdog in the first half and then come back strong and win.

So sometimes its really better to do live betting as far as my experience goes, specially in NBA, just like what the Miami Heat did in their playoff run. They are always the underdog so good for them to bet. But there are times that when you thought that they are going to lose the game, they will suddenly do the catchup and so the odds goes up very high and if you bet on them and they win on their comeback, going to be like 4.x and up winnings.

Different timezone forces me to bet before the match. If I don't like the pre-match odds and if the time coincides with my schedule then I'm most likely to bet on live. It happens often when the team that are huge favorite before the game falls behind early or within the first half. I really like it when the odds quickly change when the underdogs take the lead.

Well, both pre-match and live betting have their advantages. In the case of pre-match betting, we have a chance to carefully analyze both teams and make a prediction based on that research. I like that approach and I enjoy analyzing statistics and trends before I place a bet. On the other hand, live betting offers a more dynamic experience, especially in a game with many goals on both sides (I mostly bet on football, and I make live bets only on football games).

So both are good... sometimes it's good to research games and place a bet, and sometimes it's good to place a bet while you watch a game and you get a "feeling". I am more of a pre-match bettor, I like parlays, but from time to time I place some live bets.

But there is a chance that you may not take the bet again if the stronger team is winning already at the beginning. Live matches also happens in a way that those odds that is growing bigger as the match is going to 90 minutes are the odds that their prediction is not likely to happen, although it can happen, but in a way that bettors will not want to go for such odds.

But I do it like yours too, even when I have little money and I have time to bet when the match has started already, I can wait for like 10 to 15 minutes after the match start to bet on the team I think would win, but the disadvantage is what I have said, that if the team score early, the odd drops instead, in a way you will be discouraged to bet on such club because of the odd that has fallen abruptly almost to it lowest.

I have always had more wins when I bet on live matches than when I just place my bet and come back to view my bet ticket... So if I'm to vote for anyone it would be the live matches.

I prefer placing a bet before the beginning of the game immediately after my pre-match analysis with a target of 2.0 to 4.0, I place a my bet and close my App till the final game, though I occasionally bet on first half draw, Strong team to score in first half etc, all those bets are played before the commencement of the match, I never play a live bet when the game had already started because I don't have much knowledge of it, though I use to win as well as lose some of my bets, however I hope to start live betting on inplay live games beginning from next season  I will research on how to play bet on those inplay games and likely chances of winning the bets.

If you want to get extra money, you can bet while the match is in progress, even though that has risks too, because there are no bets that are not risky, maybe when the match takes place, we can enjoy the tension that we feel while watching, besides that, we can also see the game that is taking place. strategy of opposing forces.

I personally actually prefer to bet before the match starts because it has higher odds than the odds during the match, as you can see sometimes the odds change during the match can be higher and can even be smaller. that's why I'm not too interested in betting during the match because it's too complicated for me personally, my advice is to bet before the match starts.  ;)

I think betting on live game is more "pro" thing to do. Most people I see rather bet on games hours before they are played. I think it's very fun experience trying to bet on live games. You can find opportunity to hit crazy odds through live betting. But its not very suggested. As I said that its to be tried when you really know performances and players/teams. First, it depends on the timeline.
For example, most of the games that I watch are in the mornings and sometimes worst, super early mornings. So, I won't be able to do any live betting at that hour as I am still asleep so I input my bets before I go to bed.
But whenever I know a game is coming up and I will be able to watch it, I do try to put some bets while it is ongoing especially if I knew that my early bet is going to lose. Chasing losses, which is not recommended. This is only for those who know their game and I did make a lot of wins by doing so. In fact, there are times that my early bets are on a losing streak and I find myself making profits during live bets.
In my case, if I know I am going to be present before the game starts, it's better to input the bets. Sometimes the changes in odds are to the gambling site's advantage so it's not a good option too.

Betting on sport itself is for the people that have knowledge about sport betting, be it betting before the match started or in-play. If you can be able to make the right analyses to bet on sport matches, betting on in-play will be very simple because no more knowledge requires than to watch few in-play for sometimes and see how they are. I mean watching for sometimes to have better knowledge and experience about it.

Only what I see more about in-play is that it can cause more addiction because football are played from morning till late night which will end with matches in the North and South Americans like clubs in Brazil, Argentina and Maxico. Through a single match, some can stay checking the odds that will favour. But it is very risky than it sees to be, very tricky and punters that have just started may not know until they see themselves losing.

In-play sometimes is beyond performance of players teams, it goes to what the match statistics is showing too, but a match could be changed in a way a team that were playing not good before may later play better and win while after the second team was leading before.

it's really interesting as argument of discussion. It should be needed to weigh the pros and cons of these activities.
It is necessary to understand what goals you want to achieve and how confident you feel about it

I personally use two modus operandi:
- I place half a pre-live trade and another live trade (to try and get a better quote).
- or I place the bet entirely live to try to get a higher odds (there are all a number of reasons why the odds can go up during an event).

Thats also true. The only reason why I bet on the sport is because there are almost 30 matches happening everyday and though I have no enough knowledge of these athletes, the number of matches is enough to bet on to gamble whether I can make money out of it.

Premier League is all over the bookies so just keep on betting on those bookies favourite players. Thats just the strategy for now.

This decision can be personalized by each gambler to determine wether they select the games right before the start of the matches or rather bet once the match begin, for my own way of gambling, i prefer making adequate preparation before the match begins and make the games well presented right before the start of the match, this will give me enough time to select and plan the bet i want to make on each game as I've wanted to.

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10

Definitely some match odds on the team changes sometimes as the game proceeds because once the match started, things are equally bound to change in the opposite way as expected which may cause them to make an adjustment on their odds as the match proceeds.

For me betting when game is already started is more preferable, as you can see how and which players play, their mood, selected strategy and etc. Making a bet before event started, this is similar to guessing, as prediction is made only using numbers on the paper. In combat sport, on the paper one can be a true favourite, while other is a heavy underdog, but in the ring or octagon they are skilled even.

I actually do both. Usually, I bet even if the game hasn't started yet since I'm confident that my bet will win. But even though I bet early, I still watch the game for some thrill and excitement. Another reason for me to watch the game is if I think the team I bet on is winning, I can still increase my bet on them.

At the same time, I still look for some live games, then I will check the team with the higher odds if they have a chance of winning before the game ends. If there's still a higher chance of it, I take the risk of betting. But sometimes when the game starts late in our time, I still bet then I will just look at the result once I woke up.

I have done the reciprocal betting trick, in the middle of the game or before the game takes place, I have also placed bets at the end of the 80' minute, it's still a win based on luck, all the tricks i've ever done, sometimes win and sometimes lose, that's gambling and one game, nothing is certain, just instinct and sheer luck, especially sports betting.

I remember yesterday the bet I made on Portugal U21 vs Netherlands U21, at first I bet on Portugal U21 with a bet of 1.80, they scored a goal in the 20th minute' by A. Almeida, after the game had lasted 50 minutes I changed my mind, this match will end in a draw bet x increases to 10.50/1 dollar, the end of the story I put in a draw for the two teams, luck was on my side, the end of the match between Portugal U21 vs Netherlands U21 (1-1) B. Brobbey scored in the 78th minute' finally I lost the initial bet for Portugal U21 and won a draw (1-1). Don't get me wrong, my prediction is that some have bad luck, not all of them are lucky, the initial bet lost and I won midway through the tie bet.

I have tried betting before the game started on several occasions and I must say most times I almost loose sleep when the game begins and my slip or game has failed. Most times I would double the slips or games before the games in a manner of spreading my eggs in several baskets. Still, both games would fail, even more than I can remember.

Betting on the live game before first half is over and also for second half has been a revelation to many of us bettors who have access to online betting services with such features. We don't get to loose out entirely, we are more entitled to bonuses that we can use for future betting too.

From my experience, I usually prefer to bet before the match starts. As far as I know also, some betting platforms close their betting deals once the game starts which makes it impossible to bet. Though this happens rarely, I mostly encounter this situation.

In addition, I find myself winning every time I stick to my gut. I do not change my bets and prefer to bet whenever a certain timeframe is given for us to place the wagers.

I actually do both. Usually, I bet even if the game hasn't started yet since I'm confident that my bet will win. But even though I bet early, I still watch the game for some thrill and excitement. I find this interesting- I might try and explore other sports betting websites that offer bettings that can be changed during the game. Most of the ones that I have tried had locked once the game starts.

it depends on the top teams playing or not and on the teams I know or not. if the match is the top team I already know I will bet before the match starts because the odds will definitely be higher on the underdog.
but if the match is not the top team and I don't know that team yet I will bet when the match is on to determine which team will win.
It's pretty easy but sometimes people complicate their minds.

I tell myself that when I bet on a team, or a player, I stand behind them from the beginning until the end and there's no way to change it. Also, bets made during the match usually pay less, so it's better to make your choice before it starts.

when you bet while the game is live, may mean he is not sure who to bet or he doesn't know who those players are. there are games that i do this like tennis but when it comes to basketball and i already know who could win the game, i would bet already before the game start.

bookmakers such as Stake sometimes suspend the betting already when they see one team is obviously winning. Sportsbet is probably doing the same.

After all it depends on the chance of which team or fighter could win.

The odds always change based on the possibility of which team of fighter will win, you can take advantage by bet on Real Madrid to win on 89th minutes where the odds Real Madrid to win is really high since the match looks like they wouldn't win, but there's miracle happen where Rodrygo and Benzema score many goals in the injury times.

Either live or before the game hasn't started aren't really different.

Yes, I also do the same thing as you bet before the match starts because it won't be inconvenient when the match takes place and starts even though it's the same risk before and after it makes no difference, but I personally bet on sports betting like football on weekends usually while watching my matches while playing casino games like Limbo using Auto bet to make it easier to watch matches while playing Limbo. ;D

I like to gamble on weekends not a gambler who is active all the time and gambles because I am a busy worker every weekday, so there is only weekends to find fun in casinos and sports betting , not to make money or multiply money, but just looking for fun, if you win, consider it a bonus, but if you lose, consider that I was unlucky that day. but before gambling, make sure we have to bet using money that we can afford to lose.

It’s really good to bet on live games if that is possible but some sports like e-sports doesn’t support live games on some picks since most of their bets can be concluded within few minutes after the game start but if there is a chance then betting on live gives an advantage bettors it’s easy to analyze the game based on current stats compared to the old statistics.

The only disadvantage that I can see on live bets is you are susceptible for comitting an impulse bets or bets that you are just pressured to place due to the time constraint.

While betting on live match gives us a better perspective of the match, it still depends on individual's preferences.
If you are really not sure of how the teams would perform then you might consider waiting for the match to begin.
Once the match is started you are few minutes in then you can decide which team is performing well and bet accordingly.

On the other hand, if you are very sure and your gut feeling says a particular team will win they you can go ahead to place bet on that team.
Also, if you have no clue about both the teams then you can also consider randomly placing a bet although it will just be pure luck if you win.

It is a valid strategy as well. I will only talk about soccer/football bacause I have more knowledge
Many times you can wait around 10 to 15 minutes to find out how the teams are playing. Most of the time you can draw a good conclusion and have a good estimate if the match will have many goals or not, who is stronger or if there were any surprises in the line-up
But in this strategy the difficult thing is that during the break, the coaches can change the way they play and a team can improve a lot or change the tactics completely, especially with top coaches like Guardiola or Ancelotti who can change the game in the second half, so there's some context to the match you have to consider

So it can be a strategy, but it is difficult. I don't usually do this.

Usually I bet when the match hasn't started yet, we can also bet on live matches. however, all of that is always adjusted to the conditions and which team will compete. in the end, all is your choice. moreover, if you are going to watch a match that is your bet. what you say in this thread, not always every fight is like you said. especially, in European football league betting. jumps in odds are rare, except after the game has been played. Or, it could be that a number of players will be absent and the bookies will change the odds significantly.

The point is, in sports betting it is natural that things happen like what you said. the important point is, what are you going to do in sports betting and how do you try to minimize losses in each betting session. that means, there is a mechanism that we must do before the match starts. in a way, researching a team that will compete. and I think, you definitely understand how the mechanism that you should do before the fight starts. In fact, you can also research the course of the match, that way you can choose other options from your bet.

Traditionally, in my family people mostly place sport bets before the game even starts. It must be because we use what we already know on the performance of the teams facing each other in order for us to get an idea on who is going to be victorious.

Of course that does not guarantee anything and it would be rather wiser to place the bet during the match, to see who is being favored, even if the odds or the chances of profit become small, still could be worth it.

Personally I prefer to take a bet days prior to the event and sometimes even weeks before it, as many gamblers have the tendency to wait until the last moment to do so and if you have an idea of who could be the favorite then you could get better odds than the ones that those people will get, so you are playing with a slight advantage over the rest of the gamblers out there, and while this may not seem to be much sometimes this can be the difference between making some money or none at all.

I think betting when the game is already up is another features in football gambling that some pundits like now because it provides an opportunity to be able to decide where the pendulum will swing to. By that, the bettor can access the options he is considering like how many corner kicks the second half could produce, throw-in etc

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10

It is more like you can't eat your cake and have it. If you want to take the full risk of the game then you will be rewarded more but if you choose the lesser risk then your reward will be reduced. I think it is well understood that way. I know many bettors are caught between this web but it is really a new innovation that many have taken advantage of.

Grasping the mechanics of pre-match and in-play betting strategies is pivotal. Each offers unique pros and cons.

Pre-match betting gifts you time to delve into historical data, contrast odds, and form predictions based on facts. Yet, sports events' inherent volatility - an unforeseen injury, an out-of-the-blue play, or a swift weather shift - can upset your analytical applecart.

Conversely, in-play betting lets you tailor your bets to game changes. The shifting odds mirror the bookie's response to game shifts, echoing the present, not pre-game conjectures. But, it demands rapid-fire reasoning, deep game insight, and a penchant for forecasting game progressions.

Cast your bet in a match that have yet not started or bet when the game is already live?
It must have been asked before but in case new sports bettors have not yet read such thread, reply back your opinion about it.

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10
To be honest it depends on the game and my mood! For example, if I need to win money quickly and withdraw I'll try to find a live game and gamble on it. However if I want to enjoy watching the game that I placed a bet on later, I'll try to bet beforehand.

The odds are generally better before the games but sometimes you'll come across a good opportunity to gamble on a team mid-game. Like I mean when you're already watching the game live and you notice that the other team is performing better and it seems like a goal will be scored soon you can take a chance and place a bet on it which could have good odds. :)

I usually place my bets before the game begins. I changed this during the World Cup tournaments. You know that feeling that  you just wanted to be patient to watch the first few minutes before you decided. Yes. And if you remembered correctly, the games in world cup tournament was one of the most unpredictable. Like teams we didn't expect to perform well were winning top countries like Argentina, Portugal etc. One needed to be careful not to lose a lot of money. And it worked out well for me by betting on live game. Well after that, I switched backed or alternated between betting on live games or before the games started but it depended on the club, the league and just my general analysis.

I think  there is a little error on your odd placement and you have a recheck, don't know if I'm wrong or right.
Are there people who intentionally waits for a match to start before betting on them?
I will want to know because it really seems Interesting  to me because the only times you might see me betting  a game when the match already started is if there was an emergency  and I didn't meet  up betting the game earlier  before the start time and I prefer to bet on a match even some days  ahead of the match because the games would always have some more better odds by then.

I prefer to bet before the match. I feel like betting during the match is more chaotic and can lead to wrong decisions.

I'll give you an example. One time we were watching a game with friends and we all bet on our national team. They were losing early on, so we were all saying that we regret betting on them and it was actually 1-0 in the first half for the opponents. If I had the chance to remove the bet, after that first half I'd do it because of the atmosphere in the room where we were all hating on the team. It made their game look worse than it actually was. They ended up getting 2 goals in the second half and winning the game. You never really know who's going to win, but the game itself and the stress of it can cloud your judgement.

Normally I don't do live betting because it usually doesn't favor me because the moment I place a bet on a particular odd that tend to look favourable it usually just go sideways and this always prompt me to place more bet as if am constantly playing virtual soccer which is decided in a matter of seconds. But I have a friend who prefer betting on games that have already started and he goes for odd that he knows have already secured victory and then put a lot of cash into that particular game and the return is always smaller than the initial money he used in placing the bet.

It is not intentional but a feature that is now introduce in betting depending on the company, they call it different name in the options, it is either in-game betting, in-play or something else but what I know and have heard bettors discuss on it is that the odds are reduced that it will not be encouraging to bet on.

Can you bet on a game once it starts? (https://www.google.com/search?q=can+you+bet+after+the+game+starts)

Quote
Live betting goes by many names. Depending on the sportsbook, you might see it called in-play or in-game betting. They all mean the same thing, which is betting on a contest that's underway. Whereas pre-game bets are processed before a contest starts, live bets happen amid the action.

I prefer to bet on a match even some days  ahead of the match because the games would always have some more better odds by then.

Yes it is the practice that when you bet games ahead of time, the odds is higher than when the game come closer, if the game approaches then the odd is reduced. This is because when the time approach, more publications and revelations would have been made about the team regarding the features, the players fitness, injury, bench and reserve against the strength of the opponent.

Most of the time my choice of betting is when the match is live. This gives you with the best odds or it helps you choose the right winning odds with low profit. Also this lets me watch the game. Whenever I see my bet is to loss I find a way to bet on the opponent and minimise the loss or cash it out at the loss of some bet amount. At times when my bets were on the underdog and find a good profit I just cash it out than waiting for the end result.

I always go for pre-live if I can get them at good enough odds (around 1.7 - 1.9) and then live betting when I have a lot of time to spare and have a hunch that the favorites will stall the odds long enough for me to bet on. Live betting has more juice than pre-live and can easily swing one way or the other depending on the teams and sport you're betting on, so i'd always avoid them or bet smaller amounts unless there's a trend that the bookies haven't caught up to yet. From my experience, i've had more losses betting live than pre-live as I used to fall for these trap live odds most of the time.

Probably just your tough luck as it doesn't really affect the match or anything. Might even say that the world doesn't revolve around you so why should you concern yourself over when to bet when it doesn't make you any better of a gambler in the first place? Just bet whenever you feel like it and stick to it. It's more about your strategies that gives you these losses than the time you took your bet really. Perhaps study both teams first, only bet on a game you understand by heart, and then play your cards right, that way when the game starts and you make your bet you'd at least have the confidence of someone who did their homework you know.

Saying this cause I've had friends in the past find success in both types of betting. So it doesn't mean anything or is not indicative that betting earlier or later will give you better chances at winning.

I always bet before the game starts. In a local game where it's common for people to bet when the game is already underway, I don't do that either because the odds change. The house also adjusts depending on how the game is going. So, I place my initial bet, and if I see from the start that the person I am betting on is losing, I write the bet off and that's it.

It's common to bet before the actual game, as you analyze the team and usually tipsters do this as well. Giving us tips way ahead of time, based on the numbers and statistics. and we have seen that this is the norm, specially Las Vegas putting their odds on any sports before the game.

However, there are games that you can watch live and then bet on them as the game progresses. Nothing is wrong with that as well, at least you know or you have the idea where the game might end. And most of the time, it's good to bet on such underdog in live betting.

I prefer to bet on games before they start, because the odds are less volatile. The odds fluctuate too much, when the game is Live and it makes the guessing game too chaotic. I like to do some research on the games, before the match and then make my bet, before it starts... that way I have a bit more control.

The odds providers will be more accurate when the game is live, so you make a little bit less profit on the game... when you bet on the Live games. (Also, multi betting is almost impossible... with the odds changing all the time)  ::)

I think betting when the game is already up is another features in football gambling that some pundits like now because it provides an opportunity to be able to decide where the pendulum will swing to. By that, the bettor can access the options he is considering like how many corner kicks the second half could produce, throw-in etc
You are right and indeed it is better to bet when the match has started a few minutes or during the first half break because from there we can see the performance of the game to be able to predict the bets made, it's just that if you bet when the match has started we will get lower different odds if you place a bet at intervals before the match starts.
Seeing match statistics is very important to make more precise predictions.

It depends.

Assuming club A has 1.2 odds and club be has 5.4 odds. If the match started and club A has not scored in 10 minutes, club A odd would have increased to like 1.3 odds. But if club A scored, the odd will reduce significantly. I can wait for 15 minutes, maybe the odd for club A would have increased more a little and I can bet on club A.

Also if you are betting on in-play, you will noticed some differences it has if comparing it to betting on matches that are just about to be played.

In-play are interesting but time consuming and addicting. Also it appears like people will not lose money, but people also lose money very well in in-play matches.

It's common to bet before the actual game, as you analyze the team and usually tipsters do this as well.

But you can analyse only the past results of a team or a player. It is dangerous to make really early bets. Lets take football for example and some past games. Portugal plays against Liechtenstein. Bookies instantly choose Portugal as a favourite. Gamblers remember, that Portugal has strong players, such as Ronaldo, Pauleta, Figo, Costa, Gomes - star team. Liechtenstein a total underdog. Of course everyone think that this is going to be an easy win for Portugal and place bets. But when in few days team roster is announced, people find out that instead of Portugal starts, there are going to be second team squad, players from the bench, U17/U21 players and game ends with 0:0, even though Portugal dominated and controlled the ball. That is why I prefer to bet live.

I prefer betting before the game cast its start. Maybe the odds might change before the game turns live but it is what it is. I will rely solely on the team I betting with. Also, when the game is already live, and then I put up a bet, I tend to confuse about which side I'm going to bet on because I am looking at the stats changing, unlike the pregame which I have a static analysis that is yet to move.

Live betting can be so intense and at same time advantageous for the gambler as you have to make your decision on which side of the odds to bet for based on how the game is actually playing out Infront of you as you watch and you also needs to be very quick in deciding cause odds could change at any seconds.

I prefer to bet on live games when my staking power is high by reason of the odds size of the team that's leading in the game and it's when you have good amount to stake with that such small odds can give out a tangible profit. And live games if you really careful and patient to observe before placing a bet it is very hard to lose compared to betting when game hasn't started yet.

Things that are confusing when we bet on matches that have begun, it will give a messy cycology because the odds change especially one of the teams dominating the ODDS match will change and we have a little regret, why we don't bet when the game has not begun.
I myself prefer to bet before the game starts, especially with the favorite team that has almost the same number of odds.

It is indeed a good method to make a direct bet, because we can see a little pattern of games that exist on the field, but as said before that if one of the teams has more dominance in the match, the probability of multiplier/odds will be reduced, but that Suitable for those of you who have a large number of bets 1.2 - 1.5 You can still get high profits.

This depends on our respective decision and taste when it comes to gambling, some will definitely prefer and go for making predictions and select their games right before the match starts, they will also give a good attention to it to know wether there could be any changes at the course of the march concerning the odds should incase things turns out the way it shouldn't be but this is mostly affected by thise that bet after the start of the march and those that have already staked their bet before the march begins remain unaffected by any alterations to the odds given.

Most times,I do bet on games that hasn't started yet because I might be busy and will not be able to watch it. The only thing I do is that I check the result and the game. Betting on live games is better off, since you can use the game to get the insight of the outcome of the match because as long as the game is on sometimes the odds will change, and this can be favourable for the bettor that has bet before the game. This was the trick I do use then but now I don't really have time to watch so I bet leave the game for my luck to shine. Gambling is based on luck and not when you place your bet. It is just that everybody has their own strategy, when gambling.

Based on my personal experience, I tend to lose more frequently when engaging in live betting compared to placing my money on pregame odds. Therefore, I would suggest considering pregame odds as I have tried both types of betting. I'm not implying that betting on pregame odds guarantees success for everyone, but it has worked better for me personally.

Well, I believe that it's normal because it attracts a lot of bettors that way. Just imagine, starting with pregame odds of 1.75, which indicates a team is the favorite, but during the live game, if they are significantly trailing, the odds can change to 4.35, which attracts many bettors. This fluctuation is already calculated by the bookmakers, and often, we tend to lose because we let our emotions influence our judgment.

I always have this irrational feeling that if I bet on a game which is not live, it will be manipulated. But as I said, match fixing and stuff like that does not really exist at the high professional game level. There are too many eyes watching for that to happen without notice.

But personally, I do bet on either case if its live or has not started yet. Other than the irrational feeling that I sometimes get, I feel no difference between the two.

I mean the game could start out wonderfully but end horribly and vice versa. So I do not see any point in choosing either one or the other. The probability of losing the bet is still high and judging the outcome based on a new event probably will not effect the outcome.

It has not been proven, although there are rumors. Personally, I believe that some games may be fixed in major leagues. However, since we cannot provide concrete evidence, it is best to consider it as part of the game and adjust our betting approach accordingly. While some people may complain about the possibility of game-fixing, I believe the focus should be on betting wisely and choosing the right side, regardless of any potential fixes.

I usually place my sports bet before the game starts and wait for it to finish. Set and forget is what I usually use so whatever happens doesn't affect me. It's better for me because by placing a bet before the match and leaving it, I don't have to bother to re-analyze if the situation in the match changes. And if the profit amount could be higher in the middle of the match, I might as well withdraw the money before the game ends. I do that because occasionally, I have a match condition that changes direction again and makes me lose money in bets.

Somehow bettors will think the way goldkingcoiner does because the live game changes things as it goes. People wanted to bet on live games because they wanna make sure which team is winning and bet on them.  The catch is that the profit to win is lesser and lesser.

At some point, the bookie will stop bettors from casting when it's evident that one team is winning. But I think they shouldn't wait for this to happen before suspending the betting because it's ruining the analysis of users who bet in advance.

That would totally depend on the teams playing the match and my confidence in the team I'm about to bet on, if I know that the team I'm betting on will surely win because they have an advantage or they are a better team, I will obviously not wait for the match to start because that will reduce the odds and there is no point in that since I won't change my decision and bet on the opponent as they are the weaker side.

If it's a match where both teams are good and I'm confused about which one would win, I might wait and see a few minutes of the game to find out which team has a better touch and how both teams are playing and then I will decide who will win and place my bet accordingly.

For this I also often do things like this by being there sometimes even long before the match starts as long as I am sure of my bet and one example might be when I was in the Champions League final because there I even made bets a few days before the match was held.
But on the other hand I still feel this can also be flexible where of course there are some bets that I make when the match has started. but usually for bets like this I'm not too sure about my choice and try to see the games that are run. When it was indeed possible and the odds were also quite supportive for the bet I also did this several times.

That is if we are still allowed to place a bet because that gives the bettor a higher chances of winning. I think a little delay is still fine but we can't get much info about it. Betting early must have its own advantage too and that is; you will get a better/bigger odds or the money that you win can be a little higher than if you are placing a bet late. Those who bet early can still be able to win sometimes especially if they team it up with research and analysis.

Even though sports betting is known to have a skill and knowledge involved, it is still a form of gambling because there will still be instances of a comeback where an underdog can win unexpectedly. I think in other words, it means that we are simply unlucky.

Well, we agree with what you said, betting before the match is held makes us more confident after going through a series of research and analysis. sometimes even, I personally always re-select whether what I choose is in accordance with the results of the analysis. however, I'm more inclined to bet when the match is about to start, for example in the next hour or two. where I have to make sure that there are no changes that have been my consideration and research. I mean, both from the system, formation, line-up of players and all things related to it. if everything goes according to the scenario, I can make the choice with confidence.

It's different when I'm going to bet for multibet options, or we often say parlay options. usually, I'll do six hours of research before the fight starts. because, there are several teams that I will analyze and it takes up quite a bit of my time to research them.
For the option to bet on live games, it's also quite fun because there is an adrenaline rush when we are about to make a choice. unfortunately, in this option, we often get stuck because we instantly analyze it. apart from all that, in essence it is the same that we want to win from the team we are betting on.

I honestly didn't even know that you could bet on games after they went live until just a couple years ago.  My thing is, if I feel a certain team's spread is too high, I'll try and bet if the other team starts to close that spread gap early in the game, this way I can't get a better spread to go on.  That being said, there's a good amount of time where this strategy doesn't work out so it's a tricky thing.

Its always been tricky in the first place on which those odds might really be looking on huge gap which it did make you decide on betting early until you've seen that its getting smaller as the game is progressing then
you would eventually tell to yourself that it was a good call on making bets earlier? or you would really be having those doubts that a certain bet would win up? It would be all according into your own perspective
and approach on a certain condition because each of us does have that own preference whether you are really that a fan on betting on live games or would really be betting before the game.
Comparing the odds then it wont really be that something to be fixed as always but nothing beats out if you do see worthy numbers which you could see that you have that good winning chance or profits.

There is a lot of advantages and disadvantages in pre match and live. Live can be good but mostly you cannot hit really big odds but it is usefull because you can watch the match and see how it goes and make easier predictions. In pre match you need to analyse the match and hope that they start well like you expect them but you can hit a really higher odd

Things would be the same. Whether you bet before the game or during the game, you won't have a guarantee that you will win. But sometimes, betting on live workss and helps gamblers to decide a bet. The downside on betting on live is that odds tend to change faster because bet comes after another. If it is game winner I'd say it would be much better to bet before the game as with pure speculations. But betting live would give you a hint however lower odds and lower winnings for sure.

Go with what best works for you or which would give you  better feeling. Betting on live is nerve wrecking simply because you will see every point to count. And you know to yourself that as long as tge gaame has not yet ended, anything could happen.

I have tried betting on a pre-match and I've had a smaller chance of winning as per my experience. I wasn't able to analyze and provide an appropriate prediction as the whole match might change during the live.
I think it will be easier to make accurate predictions while the match is ongoing so you'll have a complete idea about the status of the players that day. There's a better assurance when it comes to prediction so the chances of winning are higher. However, the result would still usually rely on our luck. We can bet early or during the live match and win if we're lucky that day or vice versa.

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10
Never heard of this instance before. If you would bet from pre-game, the odds that you bet would be fixed and won't change afterwards. On visuals yes it would change especially if you would refresh the gambling site but if you would check your betting history, odds should not change the moment you put your bet into a particular odd. If it does, then there's something wrong with the website. Changing of odds more often is something which is present with live betting given that there are many gambler who does it. In every bet, there would be a change with the odds and as the game goes on. If gap on scores is big, then expect for a lower odds and lower returns. But if scores are xlose to one another then odds would still be big. Losing on the other hand is not because of odds. Betting with higher odds won't guarantee winning and would mean higher risk as well.

I bet my games when the match not started because the odd will be bigger and better then since it is not certain if a particular team will win but when the game is live, there's every tendency of odd reduction especially when a particular team is enjoying the possession and ball control of the. When ever the odds changers in a particular bet you played, you should have in my that the team is likely to lose in the game or there's a possibility of a player who's the hit man in the team is injured and it's unsure if the player will be playing the game.

Based on your statement, obviously, you are only focused on your favorite team to win therefore you can't really take advantage of the odds in the Live Betting if your betting option is only limited to that team not unless you are willing to face risky betting options towards your favorite team, of course, associated with high odds.

Generally, being "neutral" is a more appropriate and considered thing when doing Live Betting since your decision won't be based on your Favorite team but rather, on how to make profits by playing with the odds regardless of the team.

Anyways, live betting or betting on pre-match odds, both require a serious approach. There are really bettors who really have the interest to only bet on Live Betting compare to betting on pre-match odds and vice-versa. Self-preference indeed.

I think this answer depends a lot on the profile of each gambler....

Live betting is more enjoyable for those looking for an "adrenaline", but the risks are greater and you have to make quick decisions based on what is happening during the game (although I've heard reports of sites scoring a goal before it even happens... . unproven). My advice to anyone placing bets online is to only place single bets.

However, I am surprised by your presentation of odds, as usually pre-game odds are quite stable.... compared to what we have in live betting.

I particularly like pre-bets, I do my studies based on statistics and set up a bet, then I only worry about checking at the end of the game.

Most of the time when I prefer to go with the underdog my choice will be live betting, because during the match we'll get better odds so that the bet amount can be minimised and our luck can be tried. This at times brings luck and in such a stance I've won @10 odds, but those are very minimal bet amount. Other than this when the match is in critical situation, where any of the team could win I prefer making bets which will have high chance of wins.

Underdogs are usually good to bet because of the odds, no matter it's live beating or pre-game.

But if you watch the game and thinks that maybe the odds are not going in your way, perhaps you can bet again to minimized your losses and that's mostly I done though. So for me it really depends on the game itself and how the teams are playing that time. Or maybe you can go put a big bet on the underdog even if the odds chance slightly on their favor, still a win win for us.

I'm comfortably doing both, I bet on games that haven't started when I kwonthe two teams playing very well that I can easily predict which team is going to win due to the form they're on and their passed history between both clubs and where the game is been played.

If I don't know anything about the teams playing but I want to bet on them then I'll only place my bet during the live games as by watching the game you can see who will score first, win the first half or other options that your sportsbook gives you to place your bets on.

Sometimes too I can bet on the game before it starts then as I'm watching the game and I see some conviction that the game is going to turn out in a  specific way then I can bet as the game is going on. Watching the games can give you the believe you'll need to place your bet.

As long as the chances of winning are high, we can choose which one but that also doesn't rule out the possibility that the opposing team can reverse the situation so we also have to be aware of who the opponent is. You can place a big bet, but that's also risky, especially if it's an underdog who usually performs better than his opponent. So if before the match we have seen that the odds are higher and coupled with the results of our analysis, it shows that the odds are higher than the opposing team, we can immediately place the bet, watch the match, and hope we can win.

back to the strategy of each bettor. every bettor has a strategy that can make himself profitable with minimal risk such as betting before the match starts or when the match starts.
but in essence it's all about the profits you get and if I look at some of the replies, more are using 2 strategies, namely betting in 2 ways as the OP mentioned.

I do both.

Mostly I bet on live game because I forgot to place a bet before the game started due to my busyness or other important thing in my real life. Betting before the game hasn't been started will make me more comfortable to bet, but I usually bet before the match started since the odds can change based on people bet. If you're bet the match that will start in the next month, you're make a mistake.

It is boring betting on a football match after it has started. The possibility of a wrong prediction is very high. Also, there would be too many dissenting and voices in my head that would lead to confusion and sometimes downright refusing to bet on the game. Because I do not want to have to deal with that I do what works for me and that is to place my bet before the game begins so that I can either carry on with other activities or simply sit and enjoy watching the game with a bottle of cold Heineken. Some other sports bettor may be able to do the both smoothly like the user above, it can not be me.

That statement reflects your personal perception, but in reality, there are many bettors who enjoy placing bets on games that are already in progress. While there may be larger betting volumes on pregame bets, live betting exists for a reason. It can be likened to trading, where you observe stocks that are experiencing a drop in value and take it as an opportunity to buy. Similarly, bettors seize opportunities when they arise without hesitation. However, it's worth noting that sometimes emotions can get out of control in these situations, which is not ideal.

I don't generally make much distinction, but in play betting can seem to offer much more favorable odds in certain circumstances. Thinking back to the Man City vs Man United game that took place a little while ago, the odds were starting to creep up against either team winning when City were clearly the favorites based on the seasons play before that point. Before they scored there were some pretty high odds, I think only 15 minutes into the game against them winning. So it really can make a huge difference if you just let a little bit of the game play out and it seems like there is potential for strategies and unexpected odds that will work for you. However it is very hard to pin down as the bookmakers are also trying to refine their algorithms all the time too.

If you made a bet on 1.75, then for you this change in the coefficient means a radical increase in the chances of winning (and by the way, at this moment you can cash out or just hedge the bet and get a guaranteed profit)  ;)
In general, you need to understand that the line is always changing - before the game it changes a little even if there is big news, but during the game it changes dramatically and here many catch their chances.

^That is sometimes possible but I think the multitude of differing opinions and thoughts that arise during the game can lead to confusion and even make you hesitant to place a bet. It is important to find a betting strategy that works best for you, and in your case, placing your bet before the game begins allows you to focus on other activities or simply enjoy watching the game while savoring a cold bottle of Heineken. Everyone has their own preferences and strategies, and what matters most is finding an approach that suits you personally.
I will go on a very exciting moment to bet while it was not started yet while watching the match.

I also prefer gambling live on sports events, the odds change so much during each possible attack on such events. Gamblers with nice being skills can catch the great odds combinations with nice predictions but I suggest players doing bets before the event if they have no such ability to analyze the situation. Not all gamblers have the same potential to make money through live games but it is really different experience for those who can.

Yes, I also agree with this because during live we can predict much better than just guessing from their abilities on paper before the match. Especially if as long as the match is still live we can analyze the possibility of who will win both from how the game progresses and how the odds are. but indeed the results or profits will not be profitable when betting before birth, but in my opinion this is safer than just gambling based on laps or uncertain predictions

Though you are right that it somehow becomes easier to choose a side once you see how the game is going because it can clearly be seen which team is playing better and which one has better chances of winning, so you go ahead and place your bet based on that, it's important to keep an eye on the time because if you don't make it on time or if it gets late and a team takes a big lead, you might have to bet with very small odds.

But, one should also remember that at the end of the day, you can still lose the bet even if you have bet midway through the match, because in any sport, it doesn't take a lot of time for a game to turn, so it is always important that one makes bets with amounts that they can afford to lose.

But do you know that team A can be playing very well and leading before while the match can suddenly change and team B would win? Live matches are very difficult to predict and the ones that is more encouraging to take are the ones with low odds which can still make someone to lose.

Even you can bet around 75 minutes, I mean just 15 minutes to the end of the match and the match can still change in a way that someone can lose. I do play live matches and they are risky very well too.

Or maybe sometimes we lately found ourselves betting on games we didn't planned for due to some certain conditions arising that warrant for doing such, they may actually include friends influence, quick opportunity, set up match and personal desires that could help us plan the game we right before it begins, yet we still have to be dependent of luck to crown every effort made, the odds can also be an advantage in playing the bet right before the match begin and this is very common to all gamblers playing sport bettings in gambling.

Yes, it's true that betting, whether it's before the match starts or in person, of course, we'll all bet for luck, not talking with high Odds, everything has its own risk, so in my opinion, either before or directly, it still has its own advantages, but so far I prefer to bet before the game because it's more relaxed even though there seems to be an opportunity to be able to get betting money during the game.

I've always believed that luck will never make the wrong choice for people, so why seek luck by betting during a match that makes me have no confidence in myself in analyzing the match before it starts. but the influence of friends also applies, making us want to bet during matches, so I only bet on sports betting when I'm relaxing at home instead of hanging out with other gambler friends at home. it's a little shaky and disturbing.  ;)

I think, bet when the match is not yet start is the best tactic which it has been helping people not to loose so much money in their gambling because it help people to carry out their personal research to know the past performance of the both teams before betting. If you wait for the match to start before you can bet, it will lead you to miss your opportunity in that particular match, because you will bet base on the moment performance which is not reliable like betting before the match. I believe, you will continue to maintain good result in your betting, if you can apply that strategy betting before the match and it will help you not to worry too much when you know the two teams performance history.

However betting while the match has started is still not a guarantee that the bet will come to our favour. Gambling is such that table can turn around at any point. At all times we should guide our gambling pulse and not to over stake probably because we feel it will favour our bet and we throw all in. I have witnessed a thing of such where bet happened after the game had started with high hope for winning but at the end the match ended draw with a late goal. What most people are doing now is to have huge bet after the game had started but it is still risky.

Looks like they see us taking advantage of the live betting. I was hoping for the win but at the end of the game, I won nothing.

Somehow it's still good to just bet when the score is 0-1 which its highly likely that your bet will not be voided by the casino. There's risk but very minimal.

Not everything has to be the same and every gambler must have different habits and expertise in making decisions. I tend to choose the first option, which is when the match hasn't started, of course, because I believe the team I choose is a team that can win the match.

What do you really have to worry about, I mean you only bet for one outcome either win or lose. So if you are too worried about the result, then of course you shouldn't bet large amounts. Gamblers bet to win, but they must be able to bear enough risk to lose because in gambling there are only two choices.

Seen it happen to me when scores are 1-2 so I made a huge bet thinking it's safer already but lost the game. But there are times that the casino voided my bet because of it. It sounds very unfair to me if casino void your bets for betting on live bets that is considered as safe because they shouldn't offer that live odds and just close the market if they didn't want someone will place bet on it. Bets placed that lose that time will consider lose by the casino without excuse but they are voiding bets that won on same type of picks?

They have the right to limit the user for frequently doing that same bet because they have the right to do that to protect their casino but voiding a bet is unfair since it's already placed and accepted by the casino as is. Can you disclose what casino do this to you because this kind of protocol sould be avoided by players.

If it's like that this will be a lesson for all of us that when betting while a match is in progress it would be better if you always monitor the match and your bets.
Because if there is an attack that is too risky, it is better to immediately cash out to get a small win, even though it doesn't really guarantee a win or loss.
From this we can also learn that if the match you are going to choose is a club you know, it is better to bet before the match starts to minimize the risk you will get.

It depends on the game and the situation.  If there are risks to certain players playing or not I might opt into live betting.  Nba moves rather quickly so it's nice seeing how the game is going before you dive into a bet.  For prop bets I like hitting them pregame as by the time the game is known the odds are already adjusted.

It also depends on the strategy, at one time I was looking for football matches in which there was a late first goal. The bottom line was that I was looking for matches in which, approximately, up to 70 minutes or so, not a single goal was scored. By that time, the odds on whether a goal would be scored or not had grown well, and then, depending on the game, I made the decision to bet or not. The bottom line was that any team needed to score a goal and it is clear that such a strategy was only suitable for live. In addition, I also compared this match with other matches of a certain championship, whether there 0:0 scores in this round before this match, in general, the strategy quite interesting.

This means you have to be observant enough to see how the game is developing. But this will also be affected by the condition of the players and how the team you support is performing. This kind of strategy is indeed suitable for live broadcast matches because in reality we will see how the game goes for 70 minutes without a goal and which team is stronger and dominates the match more. I also prefer to bet while the match is in progress and avoid placing bets before the match is underway.

That happened to me too, it was a cricket match where I didn't bet initially though I knew which team is stronger and has got better chance of winning, I let the match start and as expected, the team that was the favorite was way ahead of their opponents, so I thought it's a sure win though the odds offered were very low but I went ahead and place my bet with a higher amount than I planned because I thought it is going to be a win for sure.

Surprisingly, the team which was weaker (it was the weakest team in that particular tournament) managed to win the match with a very low target which could be chased easily by the favorite team but they couldn't do it, and I lost my bet and I learned the lesson that we should never take anything for granted.

Most of my bets are made before the games start. I felt more comfortable with it since I can do my assignment by making additional research apart from my own observations.

Although live game betting is also interesting. I had big wins before especially in NBA and DOTA where I am waiting for the underdogs to take a lead before making a bet on the favorite team prior to the start. Although sometimes it is annoying when odds changed a lot real quick and you cannot bet properly. It is actually one of the main reasons why I stop live betting. So I just made bets before the games start and then relax and watch the games more focused and more enjoyable since I am not trying to catch some odds that sometimes you cannot take.

Many people make or place bets before the game starts. That will make it easier for us not to miss placing bets while we can leave it at that while doing other things. I also often do the same as you and after placing a bet, I busy myself with other things so I don't think about how it will turn out. And when I think the match is over, I'll check the result of the bet and if it's a win, I'll keep the money for another bet. And if I lose, I won't regret it because that's an amount I can afford.

And I rarely watch the games and prefer to check the results right away because I have many things to do. But if I didn't have anything to do on game day and could relax, I might watch it.

Most people bet on pre games and based on the background knowledge their already have on the team and how their previously performed, so you are right by your family betting pattern.
But you should also know that beting on live games have been the most easiest predictions since you already know the extent of the teams performance in the game and most times I like staking on games when they already reached 50+ minutes into the game that way the players are already tired and whatever record their have that is what they will maintain for the rest of the games.

It seems to me that a lot depends on what kind of match is being played. There are games where the favourites don't care about points or winning, but for the underdogs it's a matter of life. So if you bet during the game, after seeing how the teams play, it can make a profit.

You brought up an intriguing betting topic: pre-game versus live game. I see you prefer the former, approaching it like an architect, setting up a blueprint based on comprehensive research and good observation. Prudence and wisdom characterize this meticulous approach. Live betting is thrilling, as you indicated. It's like navigating a storm, where adaptability is crucial. NBA and DOTA victories demonstrate your game sense and fast thinking. However, the frequently changing odds can sometimes lead to more annoyance than pleasure. Like attempting to catch a butterfly, it's beautiful but elusive. It's excellent that you stopped live betting and just enjoyed the games. It demonstrates your maturity and love for the game outside of betting.  ::)

I think it's better to bet on games before they start than betting on life games. Before games kicks off, one can carefully analyse how what could be the outcome of the match by going back to the performance of the teams you want to place a bet on . While on live betting, the match can be favouring a particular team and which will make someone to think that the better team in performance will win thereby betting on that team only to see a player from the better performing team pick up a red card which totally changes the atmosphere of the match.

Going by your analysis, have you not seen where teams performed very well in the previous game and fumble in the next game? The antecedent does not determine the out of the game. The team playing which team and the squad in a particular is the key factor that sometimes determines the outcome of the game. Live bet is way better than betting before kick off since you are watching and analyzing at the same time. You can easily predict the outcome.

In the first place,  why will I have to wait for a match to start before having to bet on them? If there is a consciousness  for me to even bet two months earlier on same game that I wanted to bet when it starts, then I will gladly do it because there are more chances of having more odds and bigger wins and Cash out.
I really want to know what will prompt a player to wait until start of match before betting on such a match? I hope to get some responses.

If its not a virtual  game, then I see no reason why we should be in a haste to play such games.
The only reason to me that might make me bet on a game when it already starts is if the game code was personally booked by my friend whom I trust his predictions so much and if the game is only about 5 to 10 minutes into the match else I'm letting it slip.

It is boring betting on a football match after it has started. The possibility of a wrong prediction is very high.

The main problem with live betting is that if you place a bet before an event starts you cannot adjust your bet to the changing odds. This is a major problem because sports betting odds often change with the state of a match. If emotions get out of hand and place a bet a few days before the game, you risk your bet because there could be a change in the team or an injury could have a negative effect on the team you have chosen as your favorite team.

This is not what live bets are. Live bets are in-play matches. They are matches that have already started but punters can still continue to bet and the odds will be changing as the match starts. What you are talking about are matches that have not yet started.

You are not wrong though because it is good to check all the players before you place bet on a team, you have to make sure that all the players that you want to be there are there and playing. I can not forget a match I took in the past which was Juventus versus Parma when Juventus was very good and winning Seria A. Three of Juventus players did not play because the manager rested them for Champions League that was coming and they lost the match, yet the margin Juventus had, compared to the second position was still far.

We know that there are sudden news or events which could really make out that huge impact on a certain team specially if the match hasnt started up yet but on the time that it do make out such event then you do find out that there's some missing or starting players cant be able to play initially or the entire game because of such possible accident or injury which you might have missed on your radar on reading it
which it would really be affecting your winning probability.

When it comes on betting whether on in live bets or earlier then it would really be according into situations because there are conditions on which i do see some sure win on a specific game then i would really be
preferring on having that fixed odds because i dont really like on seeing those changing odds as the game is progressing but well it would really be that depending
on you since not all bettors does have the same preferences when it comes to this manner.

Well, you are right that sometimes it works that when you are watching the game live, you can analyze the players and the teams and understand which team is performing better and has got more chances of winning the game, but, it sometimes backfires, and the team that seems to be in lead during the initial phase of the match, tends to fumble later on and the team which might be weaker manages to win against the side which is the favorite.

That happens, maybe not very often but it does and I say that because it has happened to me on a couple of occasions, I didn't bet when the match was starting even when I knew which team is better, and when the match started, I saw that the favorite is having a big lead, so I went ahead and placed my bet, and surprisingly, the opponent won the match.

Even with checking the match statistics, you can know where the march might end to. Most people that are gambling on live matches depend more on checking the statistics as the match continues because they can not be watching all the matches at once and there are many live matches that you will not be able to watch. But there are some online betting sites that you can also watch the match directly but it will consume data. Watching the match can be good though, but checking the statistics as the match' goes on has been what I use most of the time.

It is true that a match can change. This has happened to me before. Not once or two times but plenty times. You can even see the match change around 80 to 90 minutes. Some matches may even not change but the opponent may just have a tiny opportunity which they do not misuse and just score. The score can even happened at the 3, 4, 5 to 10 minutes extra time give after 90 minutes to conclude the match as 90 minutes.

We gamble with high stakes since it is the only way we may generate enormous returns from the system. For me, the English Premier League is my favorite league to bet on; I've already chosen a number of teams whose performance I'm acquainted with, both mediocre and outstanding clubs. Manchester City remains first on my ranking of elite clubs, followed by Liverpool and Chelsea, and then Brentford, Newcastle, and Aston Villa for common clubs. Making precise predictions and strategizing on these clubs will always result in enormous earnings. To me, a live bet means smaller money; I prefer betting before the game since it keeps the odds high and the profits big.

Stats save time, attention, and data. A worthy approach. How accurate and reliable are these statistics? Isn't "sampling bias" a risk here? Academia recognises that data may not accurately depict the situation. Do match statistics account for unanticipated events like weather changes, injuries, and disputed referee decisions? These elements can greatly impact matches

You mentioned last-minute, heart-stopping incidents. Last-minute goals or extra-time miracles? Don't they disregard all statistics? Statistics are useful, but unpredictable variables limit their applicability

If emotions get out of hand and place a bet a few days before the game, you risk your bet because there could be a change in the team or an injury could have a negative effect on the team you have chosen as your favorite team.
As long as we can predict well and find a team with more potential to win than the opposing team, we can place bets before the match. But if not, we can place bets while the match progresses. Everything has advantages and disadvantages for gamblers, so they must know when to place their bets. And gamblers who are used to analyzing many matches will know what they will do and will not force themselves to keep placing bets if they are in doubt. But they can still place bets just for fun rather than considering the result.

You know how statistics work :)

But interestingly I think some of the variables like you mentioned (weather changes, injuries etc.) will be considered with new AI based models in the future. We are not there now (I think), but AI could scrape the data from the Internet and then adjust odds before the game starts based on any new information gathered and the calculated impact it may have on the game.

But placing bets during the game can also be fun. I guess most here know what kind of situations in a game can be an indicator for a turn around of one team or other important events. That's why I usually try to have some funds on the platform to make a quick adjustment bet if it seems to be appropriate to me. But there will remain a factor of coincidence that not even improved AI models will ever be able to predict.

I am only talking about how I am gambling with live matches. Assuming I take 5 live matches a day (but some people gamble on more than 5 matches), do you think these people or I will watch all the match. They can not watch all the matches. The have to depend on the matches statistics which is easily to know what could be the outcome if a match.

But I still finally said that a match can change at anytime. I do not even like to watch the live match that I have staked on because it makes someone's mind to remain unrest until the match has finished. People that are gambling with live matches will understand this mind unrest that I am talking about.

Sometimes I do prefer to bet on live matches because I could get better odds payout rate when a favorite team falls behind 1 goal against their opponent in a soccer match, even though the favorite team might need to score more goals in order to win the match but the live betting odds payout rate will become higher than the initial odds payout rate before the match starts.

The area of your expertise should let you pick which one is the best for you, if you are more comfortable taking your time to do an analysis of which team can come up on top during their next math then making a bet before the match takes place makes more sense, however if you are quick on your feet and you can find some good odds in a split of a second then making live bets could be a better option for you, as the odds given for those bets by the casinos are not as accurate.

That scenario favors the gambler, but I don't think it will impact the odds in a significant way. I also tend to agree that betting during a game can be a good option to get better odds and be profitable, but sportsbooks sometimes don't always adjust the odds in their favour.

I prefer to bet on the favorite team regardless if the odds are very favorable or maybe it's only worth calling it an entertainment bet. Yes of course it is because the odds are not that great for such a high value bet, although I would consider it a low risk bet.

What you said is right as the odds don't really change beyond what they were in a handicap bet for the favorite team. If we say that PSG falls behind an underdog team in a home game early on, the odds would be about the same as if you place a bet on a handicap with PSG being down one goal.

I think the real advantage is if people have a lot of experience and they quickly notice that this is not the day of the favorite because they play worse, ball control is not the same, motivation is somehow down and other things. That is something you can analyze during a game and then draw some conclusions for potential bets.

The lower odds are one of the biggest reasons why most people avoid live betting even if it provides them with the advantage of seeing the performances of both teams and all the players before taking a final decision, people prefer choosing a side before the match starts so that they can get returns for the full odds which won't be the case once the match is underway, but some people still do it because it slightly reduces the risk when you bet when the match has already started.

I'm not a very big fan of betting live myself because I believe if I'm destined to lose, I will lose even if I evaluate the teams and then choose my side because it has happened to me in the past where the most favorite team lost against a mediocre team which was totally unexpected.

So I tried to do live betting again today in the DOTA 2 Bali Major. I was waiting on my preferred team to somehow fell behind when the odds are high enough for them but once again it isn't very pleasant catching those ever-changing odds. Sometimes I am simply forced to just take a bet even if with undesired odds or lose the opportunity to bet on a specific game. Later on, I just went on to bet pre-game because I felt like I was not focused on the game anymore which I am supposed to enjoy especially because it is the finals already.

So as always, live betting can be profitable but it also annoys you at times. And it also takes away your focus on the game but maybe some of you will have the same level of fun even if you missed some seconds of the game.

Live bets are similar to trading in the sense that you are waiting for the perfect moment to enter the market, the problem with this strategy is that you could wait for hours and not a single opportunity may materialize, however doing this while you gamble has the added problem that you are now not enjoying the sport or esport you wanted to watch, and this can be a very unsatisfying experience as the main reason we watch those competitions is to obtain some entertainment out of them and now you are failing on this task.

If it's a live sport, and if there's a possibility to start changing the bets, I think that's going to cause me a lot of anxiety, that's why I'm not good at this type of bet, because one thing is that I bet before the game starts, after it starts, if my team loses, I accept it and I don't suffer anything, but if I'm live and I want to bet on a team, I do it, I change my bet, I get stressed because now I think the team I changed is going to lose, and if there's a chance to change the bet, so I do it, it's not the right thing, but maybe it's because of my nerves or who knows what, but I'm not good at that, maybe there are people who are good at it, but I really admire it.

I think this type of practice is very risky for me as a bettor, because it is not my style to change my decisions, I think it would cause a very insecure personality, of course it does not hurt to be able to risk making a type of bet like that, but I think I would not change my betting decision, I would rather lose than change the bets.

There are bettors who want this type of bet because they portray their decisions a lot, personally they have different personalities and they believe that changing the decisions of a bet is having a double chance, I don't see it as a bad thing, in terms of statistics it is like that, but I like traditional bets, in the forum many people who like this type of bet must be made, and the truth is I admire them.

That's a different way to see it and I'm pretty sure that it doesn't happen very often when a favorite stays behind at the beginning and then recovers back and wins the match if that happens, that's a great win for those who've chosen the favorite when betting live, but it's even better odds for those who might have chosen the opponent and they managed to win the game, I say that because it happens sometimes in any kind of sport, the favorite loses.

I had placed a live bet on a cricket match once where the favorite team was leading, if the opponent would have been leading, I could be more nervous, but since the favorite was leading, I was confident and thought it will be an easy win, but the opposite happened and the weaker side went ahead and won the match.

That's also a good reason to bet while the game is live already. It's the kind of certainty that a gambler would look for. In crickets however the longer the game will last the more it looks like something will flip.

Just like the Tennis game, where the game will take hours and hours. My goal is to keep betting even on the games I am no fan but just seeing the leading team base on the score as its live, I can bet and win.

Odds swing real time, and if the team you bet on is winning by a huge margin, I don't think it's wise to put anything on them at all. Just imagine how low the odds would be. But if it's a back and forth between the teams, chances are the odds are still doable for a bet, and that is something that we want to bet on. Just do not think that if someone is leading in a game, they would be the winners already. Some teams lose steam as the game progresses.

You’re correct with this analysis. I’m always betting live so that I can wait for the favorite team to become behind points against weak team to have a great odds instead of betting it on prematch. There’s always a part of the game which the favorite team is behind or tie against weak team before they recover and finish the game strong.

Mostly I do this on basketball that involves team like Nuggets, Boston and other heavy favorites. Betting on live will give you a better analysis on the actual condition of the team.

It depends on the strategy, but it seems to me that live betting can give us some kind of advantage. We can see how the game develops, which team dominates and so on. But if the strategy involves increasing the odds on the total in the match, then we just need to wait and choose matches that are suitable for our strategy. Pre-match betting is also good when you can't watch the match, but mostly I like to watch the event I'm betting on.

Bet on live is also my choice, you can see right away whose side can dominate the whole game and it is better than to bet before the game started. Some people bet before the game, but i think if betting while the game is on going is the best choice , it is more safe since you can see what strategy does the two teams are having and which one will win the game.

When it's leading by score and it's the bookie's favorite, it has the highest possibility to win the game. But like you said the odds will not make you much money, the assurance to win I think is what makes me bet. If it's 1.20 I still think it's worth it.

In some sports, a fan knows who these boxers are and who may be knocked out in the early rounds. A fan can see which match will last up to 12 rounds so he also can bet in the middle of the fight. This can apply to UFC main event which has 5 rounds.

I mostly bet on matches that haven't started yet, but sometimes I bet on live games as well. In general, I bet on matches that have not yet started when I think I have made a good prediction based on statistics and performance data from the last weeks. If I am watching a match live and the match is played with a defensive tactic for both teams, I bet on the total number of goals in that match. I use both methods, but I usually prefer to rely on my pre-match analysis. Live bets sometimes give more dangerous results for me.

I'm sure we will all agree that the facts all depend on the situation at that time. both live matches, and during matches that have not yet started. which in the end, it all depends on our situation and conditions. when we are having doubts about determining the bet, we can wait when the match has started. we can analyze it directly, both teams that are dominant in ball possession, teams that play more technically and all kinds of things. sometimes even, our betting options change according to the team that has a higher chance of winning. it's just that the problem is, the available odds will definitely change according to the course of the match.

But most gamblers, usually bet when the game has not started. because, we tend to analyze first to determine our bets. the difference is, when we have bet on a match that has not started yet. when it's time for the match to be held, we will automatically hope to win the team we have chosen as the previous bet. This is where we cannot be neutral. and it is different from live betting.  but in essence, the points are the same. whatever the stakes, the bottom line is we want to win.

I think this depends entirely on your preferences, I do not like live bets because when it comes to the bets I can make before the games starts I can take as much time as I want in order to take a decision and see if I am picking the right team for the right odds, however lives bets are very chaotic in the sense I do not have the time to think too much about them, and I need to take a quick decision without being completely sure if the decision I am taking is the right one.

At times my mind picks an odd and there'll be little hesitation in placing bets. Most of the time this scenario happens with teams that are equally strong. In such situation I prefer to go with live betting and used to pick the same team when the odds have increased. This have brought me good win as well as losses. Apart from this during the last moment of the matches used to place bets and this is mostly on close cricket matches.
