I observe something wey be like e dey common well with our people concerning how we dey take save things for our phone with reasoning how sensitive the information dey. One very ogbonge example na BVN number. If you ask many people to give you their BVN number, dem go bring out their phone begin dey find am for either their contact list wey dem save am, or for gallery where dem snap am, make dem fit give you the number. Although the thing dey handy, e nor too go well.

I cun dey reason say, If na so e be for BVN and some kind other numbers dem wey people dey save for phone, e mean say some kind people wey dey use bitcoins dey fit dey also save their keys for "Notes" or save screenshot of am for their phone gallery. We dey very far for security or privacy matters and thank God threads like dis are been written frequently as e go help to remind ourselves of the risk of not been security cautious.


Many ways dey to store your private key wey go dey very secure and in all this ways make sure you no store for any device wey dey connected to the internet. Infact any device wey you dey use frequently no supposed get your private key or seed phrase information. Use any of this ways as dem go secure your keys well and dem no too cost to do dem.

• USB drives: Buy USB from better and reliable seller and make sure na new one and store your private keys inside, you need encrypt am so e no go easy for anybody wey mistakenly get your USD and wan access the information wey dey inside.
• Paper Wallets: Print out your private keys or seed phrase information and store am for your house like for vault wey only you go get access to. Or you fit no print all for one paper but for different papers just to make am hard for anybody to comprehend wetin dey written there and you laminate the paper and store dem for different secured location for your house.

Let me share my experience I lost my atomic wallet phrase saved on my mail account though, I had just only tokens gotten  from a contract addressn not coins actually. Mails are vulnerable to attacks as we sign up to different site using our mail address those site find it as a way to send phishing links which could get phone hacked generally,  some it's just their  mail accounts.

From my experience my phrase got deleted but I had a cold storage backup for my phrase I logged on it a year later to find everything gone.

If you visit your network provider, dem go run am for you. As e concern bitcoin, no matter how secured wey your phone de, with all di codes, e de better not to take chances of storing your seed phrase for inside. Saving of BVN number for our contacts no too good and at the same time e no too bad because if you get my BVN number e no mean say you go fit commot money from my account directly without looking for some sensitive information from me unless you have access to my phone.

If you save am for your phone, what if you lost your phone or dem steal am? How you wan take retrieve d seed phrase? That means you don lost your fund be dat becos of simple negligence and laziness. Agreed with you on this fact on eas of accesisbilty being your major concerned but then also we have to choose from a lesser evil here,  and truth be told,  anythintou store on your phone can be easily exposed to scammers most especially if you frequently connect to the internet and exchange files.

So best way to secure such vital information is offline and which is what is being advised here in the thread,  because is better to secured your Bitcoin becausuthe pain of losing them is worse than the stress of having the token offline.

Concerning BVN, I save am for my contact with a different name and I intentionally remove di first 4 digits and carry am for my head so dat person no go even get clue say na BVN.

De only way to prevent this dis kind of BVN theft na if our service provider make am in such a way dat we go fit lock our BVN, so dat anytime wey any person dey request for our BVN, e go ask for de unlocking pin or number.

E no dey advisable for us to dey save our seed phrase or private keys for our phones, laptops, emails and cloud services. Hackers fit hack dem and steal your assets, the recommended method na to write am for a clean piece of paper and keep am somewhere safe.

I am very sorry to say this and I don't mean to sound condescending in anyway but most Nigerians don't have more than 50k in their bank account. Therefore, how they save their personal information doesn't really matter to them.

Or rather, the higher the amount of money you have in your bank account, crypto wallet the more serious you take the security and safety of your keys and personal information. One of my friends made $5k from airdrops and immediately started to take cybersecurity courses online just so that he could protect his crypto assets. Dem nor dey tell person.

Op weti you yan na di true but you no come tell us how we go dey save our private keys and many people for di naija bitcoin matter na where you tok dem dey keep their things, there is no two ways about it.  And u know sae keeping those sensitive information in those places make dem to have more easy access to them whenever dey want to use dem. So if you know any good place to keep this information and dey can access it easily whenever dey need it dey feel free to share with us here so other people go benefit and that is one of the reasons we are here. And really keeping those things in the phone is not good because if in case someone steal your phone and has access to the phone dey can go to those places and get the sensitive information and withdraw all your funds. Op if you know any good way drop it.

Everything wey ona talk for hear na truth, but the real truth be say many of us are a victim of that. E don gradually become habit for average Nigerian man to dey save every inportant thing for our phones. Why e be like that be say out phones don get a big role to play in our every day life. Like our life and everything depends on it. So naim dey always make us to save every thing for phone. But for me I think to save password, bvn or passphrase sopos dey our Gmail account then we go come use password lock am. So that in case you go anywhere wey you need any of them you fit just look for a phone login to your Gmail and copy it then log out. At least anywhere you go you go dey covered. Not only password you fit even upload inportant documents too.

Another thing be say, most of us no really get savings and holdings and most of us just get wallet for the sole purpose of chesting wok money so we really dey very careless about privacy and safety as long as the money dey come, hence black man too dey feel smart and I hope this message serve as a wake up call.

I think important information shouldn't be stored on the phone because if peradventure you lose your phone there are tendency that some personal information you store on your phone might be exposed thereby your personal information might be tempered with. I suggest instead of storing your personal information on your phone, you rather use your email and you can still access the information even when you phone is stolen through your email so instead of storing your information on your phone, email is preferable.
