The arkenstone was a giant diamond featured in the hobbit. Thorin Oakenshield's family had it stolen from them by Smaug the dragon.

I hope this coin does better than the hobbit coin because it's either dying or dead.

Arkenstone Pool (http://pool.mycryptoco.in)

  • We do our best to be up shortly after the source code release
  • No registration required: Mine anonymously.
  • 1% mining fee

How to mine Arkenstone with us

Step 1: Generate your Arkenstone wallet address
Step 2: Point your miner to stratum+tcp://pool.mycryptoco.in:50090
Step 3: Username = Your wallet address, Password doesn't matter (e.g. x)
Step 4: As soon as the Arkenstone Client allows us to send mined coins you'll get your Arkenstone immediately.

This takes very, very long with Arkenstone! The current info is, that blocks mature after 200 confirms. 200 x 15 minutes block time = > 2 days! This is the same with every other Arkenstone pool.

Just a quick question: Did you set tx fees low by default, so that we can payout miners without wasting Arkenstone on tx fees?

That's a hashed public key that can be used for every coin with our pool. (so you don't have to get addresses for every coin) It can be generated here (http://pool.mycryptoco.in/key.html), but we consider this feature alpha, so we don't promote it on our site, yet.

i mean: is this legit? because the readme on GIT does not match the description over here at all... so i was wondering if anybody has bothered to look at the code and has investigated how the coin actually works...

looks like the first ten block awards were 400 ars each x 10 premine blocks and 1 ars thereafter. I was mining from the start and got 4088 ars then the nodes went dead and lost sync for a few min. when the nodes came back up all the coins I mined went orphan..  ???

We set up a blockchain but can't promise to keep it up forever (to be honest), but for now you can see what's happening.

Arkenstone Blockchain (http://arkenstonechain.mycryptoco.in/chain/Arkenstone)

And here you can see the premine transactions (http://arkenstonechain.mycryptoco.in/chain/Arkenstone?hi=19&count=20), if you're interested. (400 ARS each)

Git source is pretty fucked up. First you have to rename 3 files and then change the properties of another. Fail!

No offense, but thank goodness. That kind of instamine would have killed this coin. You realize that this coin is about 2 daily coins per TH/s right now?

I recommend you avoid Luckypool. You could end up like me, mining with 200 Gh/s for half a day only to find out that I just cover the withdrawal fee of .1 ARG. Ludicrous for a coin this hard to mine. I emailed them about this over 24 hours ago, assuming they could not possibly be intending to keep it at that rate. Have not heard back. It looks like diff has dropped enough that I could mine 1 ARS in a day right now. So now I only have to pay 10% of my earnings for withdrawal. Will never mine on any of their pools again.

Lol, yes I was indeed, this was right after launch and I stopped mining 12 hours later. Today would be about as much as you had in 12 hours because the network hashrate is way down.

indeed, my email was apparently blocked for registering there. I couldn't imagine why, then I remembered I had complained when they didn't payout on an alt (and never replied by email) and also apparently blocked me for pointing out they pocketed my coin (it was a small alt like unicoin or similar if I recall)  anyways, ye avoid them.

The time for every block is 15 minutes and the confirms are 200 blocks.. So you must wait about 50 hours for every block minted..

I suppose that I will receive my payout about tomorrow or the next day..

Need help to sync wallet, new to all this so please go easy.

I downloaded the wallet. Made a arkenstone.conf file and placed it in: C:\Users\Hello\AppData\Roaming\Arkenstone.

Here is the .conf:
Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcport=7700
port=7701
server=1
listen=1
daemon=1
rpcallow=127.0.0.1
addnode=192.168.1.12

Any advise to help sync the wallet would be great.

Thanks in advance,
nssminer

All Sorted...added public ip.... and boom....All working now.

Also mining at this pool for Arkenstone. Waiting for a payout. Also my reported hashrate is not showing correctly on their end. I have 4th pointed to it and it's only showing about 1.2. Not sure if this is an error on their API or they aren't setting the difficulty properly to fully utilize SHA-256.

It takes a few minutes to display the correct hashrate. Most probably not an error on our site. But when it continues, please get in touch, so that we can figure this out.

We are paying out immediately after ARS mature. It takes 200 blocks before the Arkenstone client lets us spend mined coins, so the first payout will happen in 2 days and 2 hours approximately. (200 blocks to mature x 15 minutes block time = 50 hours = 2.2 days) We'd like this to be faster, too; but this is a decision the Arkenstone dev has to make.

Am I the only one getting a virus alert from the "arkenstoned.exe" file?
Bitdefender antivirus flags it, and automatically deletes it. Not sure what to make of it.

I get the same thing too.  Avast says it's infected with Win32:Malware-gen.  It just deletes the infected "arkenstoned.exe" file, and the wallet seems to run fine without it.

Anyone have any suggestions as to whether or not it's worthwhile to mine a coin who's developers added a virus into the package?  I know just like University Coin this is one I won't touch.

The pool http://multicoin.lightninghash.com/ (http://multicoin.lightninghash.com/) LightningHash has been great, taking into consideration what I have read in ARS's forum, I am really happy. I was given a comprehensive reply to an inquiry I had concerning the slow conformation rates related to ARS. Nice to know someone is there.

The Arkenstone of Thrain, also known as the "Heart of the Mountain", was a wondrous gem sought by Thorin Oakenshield in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. The Arkenstone is presented as the most valued possession of Thror, King Under the Mountain, of the house of Durin. Frellin' call me a geek, but I just love that. This coin in my mind is instantly neoteric, though so, pertains an intrinsic ancient quality that instills excitation of quest.

The fact that 1 stone per block, starting at 200,000 stones w/ 3yr half rate is very promising on the shear rarity, considering the Peta count of some of the crypt-currencies. Dev is talking about a debit card system, that would be very convenient and as a merchant I would except. Time will tell but I feel good about Arkenstone.

Hi, pal:
It was some software bug which stops the payment. It is also set now. You should receive your coin by now. If you still have problem, pls email to admin@luckypool.cn.
tks

Still haven't received anything from cryptoco.in, and luckypool has a min withdrawal amount of 1 and a 0.1 tx fee. I would have to mine a couple DAYS to pay just the tx fee. Think I best move along..

lucky pool don't pay the coin , i have 10 coin confirmed and none of them are sent to my wallet

I think this has got potential.. its hard as hell to mine..  gives the Sha world something to dig their teeth into..

it requires patience..  it isn't going to PoS to infinity.. i rented some rigs & hammered it with 950gigs for 12 hours & got 3.

and its only on block 1229 atm with a difficulty just under 2mill.. that was at 1.5mil..

its only going to get harder.. hence the rarity.. so dust off those miners fellow crypto enthusiasts.. there's a new coin err stone to be

mined.. for a long time to come.. .. after all.. the Dwarfs didn't mine the first one in a day...

Bitdefender antivirus flags it, and automatically deletes it. Not sure what to make of it.

I get the same thing too.  Avast says it's infected with Win32:Malware-gen.  It just deletes the infected "arkenstoned.exe" file, and the wallet seems to run fine without it.

Have to disagree with you big time on that one.  I've got 191  wallets installed on my computer, Arkenstone is one of only 3 I've had virus warnings for.  There's no reason for a false positive.  I'm not a super expert or anything like that, but I can't think of why a cryptocoin would set off a virus flag unless it's infected.

Are you serious?  Why on Earth would I ever do that?  If my AV found a virus in your wallet, why on Earth would I ever want to build it myself from the source code?

You built it, put a virus in it, then disseminated it throughout the community.  And when I point out there's a virus in it, you first try to excuse it as a false positive which makes no sense because for it to be a false positive you'd have for some inexplicable reason added the signature of a virus to the file........?

Then you suggest I build it myself from the source files?  Are you fucking kidding me?

So I catch you spreading a virus, and you try to deflect from that by asserting the problem is on my end because I didn't build the wallet myself from the source files?  You're the dev, so it's on you to disseminate a working and virus free version of the wallet.  It's not the responsibility of someone who's interested in mining your coin to build the wallet themselves if they want to mine the coin without their computers being damaged.

I've almost six years experience working in collections, and I know plenty about hacking and building viruses.  So I can smell your fallacious rhetoric from the onset.

The correct thing to do would have been to remove the link to the infected file, replace it with a working and non-infected version of the wallet, and to apologize to the entire community for putting their computers at risk.  Instead you attempt to patronize me with nonsense and fallacious assertions.

You're fucking ridiculous.

So what's going on in the Arkenstone world?

Went live last night with a private pool, the NSS Arkenstone Pool, (what a frellin' challenge), I have mined some Stones with it already too!

http://www.use.com/images/clicklarge3.gif (http://www.use.com/ed5e75fa4c63b6a6928c)

It took my Windows trained arse seven frellin' days to get the NSS Pool alive. Ubuntu was a bit of a learning curve after 16yrs as a Windows Senior Field Lead~ My keyboard was all......go ahead type "apt-get install" one more frellin' time...I dare ya'. But it's up and running and for me, Ubuntu is some nice script...., Ubuntu has seemed to tame the learning curve a bit.

Back to the Stone, The Arkenstone! Anything new? I really would like to see a formal website. I have some power to throw at ARS, so give me some new news.

I'm buying ARS on Palth.net exchange, the last exchange to host ARS.  I am offering 200 sats (which is double what was offered before Aug 25). I will mine ARS for a little so you can move your coins to Palth.

If you are generous dump them on me free at AYPASkMmundH88rB8kfWPseMvjkgAjDoNw.

I think this coin could have made it as a novelty if the dev had not vanished with the huge premine.  Now Bitonyx exchange has vanished, and so has all their ARS and other coins.

The blockchain is in good shape.

The best ARS pools I am aware of are:
http://miningpools.tk/getting_started
http://pool.webcoin.us/ars/

Webcoin pool seems to not be updating their charts.  MiningPools.tk is delivering mined ARS coins to me.

A blockchain explorer is still up at http://pool.webcoin.us/ars/statistics/blockchain

Just for the record, Blocks 2 through 8 (7 blocks total) contain 400 ARS each.  It seems 2.800 ARS were premined in these blocks.
A 2% premine (4.000 ARS) was claimed in the opening paragraph but I can't find the last 1.200 ARS.

It's rare like UNO and a Sha256 coin but that's where the similarity ends. ARS has a 2% premine, or 4000 coins. That's currently about 24% of existing coins.

Still, I have a bunch of these and would not mind seeing it added to an exchange.

Comkort would be good.  I think allcrypt would be a better exchange for ARS. There is no voting for Allcrypt. Just email them and ask. I would put some coins out there to help kick it off.

Btw, in it's current state, I'll give 1 Uno for 100 ARS, up to 5000 ARS.

Interesting offer, but i am afraid it's not good enough. The electricity i spent mining ars was more than that. i offer you 1:50 , so 100 UNO for 5000 ARS.

I believe for now ARS doesnt match the requirements for adding to an exchange. we need someone to make new blockexplorer etc. best would be if dev would reappear and take care of his baby.
it may be true there are 4000 premined coins around, but i also lost 1600 on palth. maybe those 4000 are dead like the dev?

I lost 400 ARS that I tried to transfer to Palth but it never arrived.  That makes it an even 2000 ARS lost at Palth. At least that covers 1/2 the premine.  ;)

I will ask Bynergy.com if they will set it up. It's OTC, but still better than losing coins on something like Palth.net

Keep a watch on Bynergy.

I sent request for Arkenstone to bynergy too, nothing yet. But i believe some exchange will add it sooner or later.

btw. now i'm fine with 1 UNO for 100 ARS, UNO price is higher now, so now 1:100 seems a fair deal. you still want some ars? i have plenty :)

Bynergy is gone now.

I like cryptopia.co.nz and am trying to put some favorite old coins there. ARS would be good there.

Arkenstone is up for voting on Comkort Exchange. Give it a vote

Since the developers website has been under construction for nearly one year, here is the community sponsored and maintained website for Arkenstone.

This coin is still alive and running. Only 30,000 ARS out of 200.000 have been mined. A pool is up at Miningpools .tk
No exchange.

I have about 10,000, nearly 25% current supply.

Sad ARS lost miningpools.tk pool.  I don't think there any other pools out there right now.

Damn, my ARS wallet founds nodes and synced right up today. What a huge surprise.
I was cleaning out old dead coins and discovered I have about 8,000 ARS.

PM me with an offer if you still want them. There's no dodgy exchange trading these anymore, is there?

Believe it or not, this network is still up!   There's a node at 91.121.221.92:7701

For shits & giggles, I took a minute and added ARS to our paperwallet site.
