Hello everyone! I'm looking for a loan of 130 bit coins. The loan will be used to meet and purchase a computer off of Shakaru. I'm getting a good deal on the computer and Shakaru will be able to pay his debt off to Gigavps. I get paid Friday (February 3rd) and will have no problem paying the loan back that day. I would like to help Shakaru  and also score a nice gaming computer :D. The Computer costs $900 now for everything but I could put in $100 so I only need around 130 bit coins. I would prefer the loan be from one person to make repayment faster but I don't necessarily care. Would like low interest also since the timing of payment is so short.

Quick question, why has the loan amount grown by 20 coins?  Is that simply the price change?

Yes and shakaru pm'd me saying for 100$ he could add a tv card, the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and somes games, but also partly due to price since btc were 6.4ish$ when I made this post. (Sorry for spelling/grammar errors on my phone)

Uh oh... I have a bad feeling about this  :-\

He has yet to purchase the pc from me. I was told he would be doing it today but my last few messages have gone unanswered. He was active online earlier today so lets see whats going on.

Please note that this loan was in result to me offering to sell him my desktop in response to his ad for buying computer gaming hardware. If this was a scam, he could have easily not spent as much time figuring out what hardware he wanted in the pc, and the replies of messages over the deal.

What the hell was this?  Why write this and then vanish - why not just vanish?  This post serves no purpose unless this is some kind of scam/prank.  Has anyone checked over at SA to see if they are laughing their asses of over there?  Or, has anyone checked to see if anyone died on that day in some freak weight lifting accident?

Looking back now at his entire posting history I see some obvious bad signs.  Here is what I learned:

I did not read his entire post history becaues he was already at 123 posts and a full member - I got lazy and assumed he had been around a while. You can bet your bottom BTC that from now on I will at least check the customers profile to get their first post date, even if I don't read every single post.  123 posts in that short of a time is what got me.

Also, I got caught up in his story.  He was offering to help someone out, someone we all know, this would also help out some of the lenders, blah, blah, blah, bs, bs, bs.

Once others jumped on the band wagon and started loaning I got lazy and figured that they had done the homework.

Valuable (and expensive) leasons learned.

I was watching him from early on when he registered. He was asking about loans in the newbie section, since i was already giving out newbie loans 2 BTC to every newbie, then he started giving out loans upto 100 BTC.

From then onwards, he said he will buy a pc from shakaru and everyone gave him a loan, while he has been registered only for 3 weeks or so.

Dont give a loan to anyone who has been registered for less than a month. If they want to scam make it hard for them, make them have 300 posts and registered for more than 2 months.

This is why I stay put and never lend people more then they've repaid in a single time. Works every time and I've not got scammed (yet!)

That does lead to a chicken and egg problem though for new borrowers.

That is. However, given the amount of btc scammed in the past few months, I personally wouldn't lend any amount of money without any collateral, either in rep or something for it.

This is not the first PM I've received regarding gurg2.0 so I'm going to respond publicly since I'm listed in his signature as a reference. He bought Magic: The Gathering cards from me, and paid up front. The problem is that this was a 0.15 BTC transaction, as I told the previous people who PM'd me about gurg2.0. Can a 0.15 BTC transaction really warrant a a reference?

I do have his address (assuming the address he gave me was correct, he never confirmed that he received the cards) but I don't plan on giving it out publicly. If the people who have been stiffed want to PM me, I'd be happy to give the information he gave me.

In my opinion, it's very possible he accrued a handful of tiny transactions in order to get just enough trust required to get your BTC and run.

Yup, and I cautioned whoever it was that PM'd me about this before the loan was given.

I can verify that I contacted both guys he had in his sig and received the info they said they gave. He didn't have a substantial previous history which is why I only lent 10 BTC.

Oh shit! This is worse than I thought. I wasn't going to release the results of the IP check, but what we found was troubling: gurg2.o is kujoking7. westcoastconnect is also the same person.

Be on your toes, people. There are other accounts potentially used by this guy, but we don't have enough information to verify this. If you send me potential evidence that someone else is linked to this guy (even basic circumstantial evidence), I can confirm whether or not they are this guy.

Are you not allowed to perform a query for all accounts with that IP?

I queried two other accounts, but insufficient evidence to have any more information released at this stage.

We can. However, we cannot assume that they are the same person without some kind of evidence. Hence the warning.

Please don't post stuff like that publicly without some kind of evidence. I have no reason to believe those accounts are connected to this guy.

To clarify, I do not think those two accounts are linked to the Gurg2.o  KuJoking7 or westcoastconnect.

I do, however, have concerns about the credit-worthiness of these two users given other information and observations.

Really makes me wonder if he gave me the right address.

Please do not post his address.  We as a community must stand together and enable these people to keep running their scams over and over with absolutely zero threat of repercussion.

As delorean stated it's probably not real anyway - the guy bought for 0.15 btc- sure it was just bait

New criteria for getting a loan:

must be Hero member with 2000+ posts
time between 1st and last message at least 6 months
must send copies of 3 id's with picture of self with newspaper of the day
in some cases must send as collateral 1 family member ( mother/wife/child etc...)

I reserve the right to not send the loan and keep the family member anyway.

Im new to the lending forum and since i am currently considering loans i just thought i would add something to this post. Dont loan to people with no rep. If you have doubts about the borrower or the loan is for a large amount ask for his full name, phone number, address, or pic of his drivers license. Call him before you send the money. Most scammers will not want to speak with you. Run all the information he gives you. If you cant find any public records with the information provided dont grant the loan. If he doesnt want to give you any information about himself do not grant the loan. These people are coming to you asking for your help. The person with the money is the one who is in control of the situation. Also, if you make loans for 20 coins with a 1 coin return or 100 coins with a 5 coin return the risk is not worth the reward. Walk away.

I think the point was that what you said was obvious to most lenders around here, and it's condescending to the people who have lost money to assume they didn't know the most basic guidelines for lending. It's very easy to say in retrospect that you knew it all along (or would have known, had you seen it) but there were other factors at play, and hindsight is always 20/20.

My comments were not directed at those who were burned. It was a public comment made for everybody. If you or anybody else took me the wrong way please accept my most sincere apology. I am new here and im not tying to rub people the wrong way. I am just participating and contributing like everybody else. I dont want to see more threads like this where people get burned. Thats the only reason i posted.
