Title: MONERO.RS 100 XMR Giveaway (RE-OPENED)
Post by: MONERO.RS on August 31, 2014, 09:46:42 PM
***GIVEAWAY*** 100 XMR!!! (RE-OPENED)

Tell us about new feature you'd like to have available on our pool. We will pick 5 best suggestions and award each poster with 20 XMR!
Giveaway will probably end within 72h, and please, no spam posts

MONERO.RS (http://monero.rs) team is bothered by the lack of innovation and features provided by other XMR pools.
Top pools (with the exception of Dwarfpool and Minergate) run stock software with little to no customization.

MONERO.RS (http://monero.rs) was launched on August 27th and has since implemented :

  • New hashing module, twice the speed of the current cryptonote-universal-pool hashing module!
  • Claymore fee optional - miners decide whether to pay or not!
  • Multi-Nodes, Europe, USA, Canada, Asia! Ultra-low latency - more blocks - no wasted hash
  • Private linux miner with 5-12% boost in performance (AES only CPUs) compared to cpuminer-multi public version

New features to be released next week:

  • Individual worker stats - monitor your rigs in real-time!
  • Mining to an exchange address

Winners:
  • 1. myagui (Entry (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=764450.msg8621910#msg8621910)) - Reward: 20 XMR - Status: Claimed (http://monerochain.info/tx/b24c1b163b2fdeaf183fca8316b4c4f67a0bc70da898abb7ffa82011a16fd8f5)

- An option to pay in BTC, it would be the first cryptonote pool with this

- A graphic with network hashrate and difficulty over time

- Merged mining (mentioned by sandor111) would be great

- ability to download my footprint on your site in a nice neat zip

include hashing history
block discovery history
transaction history

- miners who find a block get a bonus - part of your fee or a % of the block total.

Could be great a multipool for crypto coin. possibility to select the prefered coin (like www.coinmine.pw)

This is a good idea gwada, I would get back into mining a little coin if I could use a CryptoNote multipool.

MinerGate (.com) type of GUI. With optional CPU or GPU mining or both.

Ease of use is very important.

1. An increase in usability of the client. This doesn't need to be a GUI per se, but now people need to run two separate executable before it works. Additionally you need to execute a specific command to save the blockchain before closing the program (or your computer crashing) or you lose all your downloaded blockchain data. Finally, without typing refresh the balance isn't updated based on fresh blockchain data. All of these things can be smoothed down so less skilled people can also run their own wallet (which is extremely important).

2. Cold storage functionality (maybe team up with Armory client): As the amount of money increases cold storage functionality gets more and more important. I see you have implemented a mnemonic of a certain number of words to regenerate your wallet. This is very good, but extending the client with automated printing would be better (low threshold). What's more, you want to be able to save the keys on an offline system as is possible for Bitcoin with Armory. You want to generate the transactions on an online system (with Blockchain), sign them on an offline system and then broadcast them on the online system again. This way the keys never touch a computer which can be compromised and security is increased by a large factor.

1. average hash rate / 24 hours
2. a line with "my" estimated income on the next block
3. a line with "my" unconfirmed income (this was always missing and almost made me not mine monero at the beginning)
4. (this was already mentioned) an option set the withdraw threshold (in some limits) or to not get coins at all
5. a manual withdraw option

I will try to add more ideas inside this post.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6. One thing that drives me off most pools.. the timeouts. You should really try to do better on them.
I am a very small miner and until now only one pool manages to almost completely avoid timeouts. I mean this:
Code:
[2014-09-01 15:53:45] Pool set diff to 6348.01
[2014-09-01 15:53:45] Stratum detected new block
[2014-09-01 15:55:45] Stratum connection timed out
[2014-09-01 15:55:45] Stratum connection interrupted
Later edit: it looks like you guys fixed something there, it is MUCH better! I'd say it's as good as my previous pool.
7. I've seen a great idea on another pool, another coin, quite some months ago: if you came to this pool based on a referral, some 0.5%? 0.05%? of your income goes to the one that gave you the link. Now the more beautiful part: if you didn't come from referral that % goes into a "basket", or if somebody referred more than a max amount, the extra goes into that same "basket". Every week (or month) a drawing is made and one miner (that mined minimum x hours) can win that amount of XMR. I hope I explained it good enough..
E-mail notification for worker failure after 5-10 minutes (user selectable?) of worker not submitting shares. It will eliminate need to check from time to time (read: all the time) pool dashboard just to check is everything ok with hashrate and workers. Should give relief to pool's web frontend.
SMS (paid?) notification if your worker hasn't submitted a share to the pool in a certain amount of time. The amount of time can be calculated based on performance in the past, for example 4 standard variations longer then the expected time to the next share (I'm assuming the probability of finding a share within x time follows a normal distribution).
Estimated "Weekly Bitcoin Bill Pay \ Save the Rest" feature.
Auto convert my estimated power costs (should be a calculator of $ + Kw/H).  Pool auto cashes out amount of bitcoin I need to pay my electric bill and just keeps the rest in Monero.
Would need input of $ per Kw/H, est watts, and bill due date.  Have to pull current value of bitcoin to calc how much to cash out - maybe slowly auto convert over the month to get within 5% of this by bill due date.
A donation pool towards devs that miners can contribute to and the pool matches.  Display a ticking counter somewhere.  Monero is underfunded ... don't want the goose that lays the golden eggs to die.
Isn't it a gamma distribution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_distribution)?
Affiliate/Referral comission! My how-to mine $currency instructions and tips get thousands of page views a day. I dont want a check from google, i want referral comission!
Implement a new variable in the syntax, eg. -r $refID.
I'd be happy with 1% of the income people i refer to make :)
Could be, statistics in uni is getting a bit rusty. If I'm not certain I always fall back on the normal distribution because it's applicable more often than not and if it isn't it usually doesn't deviate too far from the truth.
Referrals would assume the pool had some sort of registration, otherwise it's very hard to reliably implement.
I don't think miners are going to bother with "-r $refID".
  • Private linux miner with 5-12% boost in performance (AES only CPUs) compared to cpuminer-multi public version
1) Please make a script to install ^this^ on Debian/Ubuntu, like the normal [git clone git://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero && cd bitmonero && make] one.
2) Don't forget DDOS protection!  If your pool is a success, people will try to nuke it from orbit.  KoDDOS.com takes BTC, maybe you can get them to take XMR.
3) A Hall of Fame for block solvers is always nice, as are teams.  If you are very ambitious, a tech support hot line would be helpful.
4) Be sure to pass on some XMR to the dev fund.  You could even make the % user-adjustable.
EDIT ONE: 5) Make it hop-proof with PPLNS or whatever.
EDIT TWO: 6) 2FA for security.
Total Hashes Submitted and dificulty in Kh, MH, Gh (the nearest one so we dont have large numbers)
option to take claymore fee or the number choosen of fee to the dev (i will gladly give part of my claymore fee to dev team of monero, they deserve it way mor than claymore in my opinion)
Estimate earn by day on front of current hashrate based on last hour hash rate
Edit
On the graph if there are more than 2 workers show the hashrate of each one separated, so we can compare
The challenge with most of these sites is :-
Should we create a login so we can remember your address, then we can you your stat's etc..
The solution is quite simple just have box at the top of the screen that allows you to enter your address.  Then store the address in a cookie.
This way you don't have to re-enter your address every do dam time you want to check your stat's
Also you can create quick links to additional functionally as and when it is added.
To extend this model further you could create light-weight settings that stored in the cookies.  You delete your cookies you start again!!
You can then offer full login for those people who their settings stored on the server so they get the same experience on multiple channels.
This framework would allow all the great features to be added appropriately to the different types of logins(lightweight and full).
And email notification for idle worker.
And android app that will show realtime stats of workers and info from pool. That would be so cool.
Fourth winner is... Miki
Affiliate/Referral comission! My how-to mine $currency instructions and tips get thousands of page views a day. I dont want a check from google, i want referral comission!
Implement a new variable in the syntax, eg. -r $refID.
I'd be happy with 1% of the income people i refer to make :)
Congratulations, we have sent you a PM with further instructions on how to claim the 20 XMR.
Thanks! I've been following your pool's progress, pushing out new features on a daily basis, please PM me as soon as referal id option is active!
EDIT : 20XMR received! THANKS!
We are unable to pick the final winner for the giveway. While we have read all entries, there are numerous that suggest features that are already implemented into the pool. We cannot pick these, therefore we are re-opening the giveaway for the last 20 XMR. Good luck!
I can't ever get enough Moneros, so here's a couple more:
Purely Cosmetic: Add a theme feature to the pool website, so that one can pick at minimum between the standard/bright theme and a dark one, much better for viewing during night time or in a dark setting.
Informational: Add a "Resources" page containing the various points of interest for the Monero community, containing links to the Monero reddit, the various discussion threads for Monero, links to the IRC channels, available exchanges, block explorer, and so on.
Functional: Add a "Ping-Me" link/button to each of the stratum servers available, so as to assist a prospect miner with the decision of picking the pool (this feature would check latency from host <> pool, and post results).
A loyalty incentive: Pick a random winner of a certain XMR bonus at the Pool OP's discretion, from the set of miners that have been active/mining every single day of the period in question. The loyalty range and the XMR bonus could be whatever the pool op decides.
An example could be:
From the group of miners that have been active over the last week, and only those that were at all times connected/mining (say, maximum no-shares or disconnected time of 4 hours for example), take a random pick and give the lucky miner a 2 XMR bonus. The winner from a previous award would not be excluded at the next period, as the point is really to promote loyalty and prevent pool hopping.
That's it. I'll edit this post if I can think of anything else.
Just give it to the devs fund, there is not much to be done with a pool anyway, I'm glad you didn't implemented registration since its both annoying and security issue.
I agree, the devs have a rocky road ahead, they need it most...
7. I've seen a great idea on another pool, another coin, quite some months ago: if you came to this pool based on a referral, some 0.5%? 0.05%? of your income goes to the one that gave you the link. Now the more beautiful part: if you didn't come from referral that % goes into a "basket", or if somebody referred more than a max amount, the extra goes into that same "basket". Every week (or month) a drawing is made and one miner (that mined minimum x hours) can win that amount of XMR. I hope I explained it good enough..
I had a hope that at least my 7th idea has a chance. Ohwell....
Congrats to the winners.
Add another to the list. Your pool is very innovative amongst the competition out there. All of the ideas here are positive, but giving back the the dev's is paramount for the longevity of XMR.
Great suggestions, thank you!
Donating the remaining 20 XMR to Dev funds is certainly not a bad idea, we're still thinking about it.
Well, if you'd consider one of my additional suggestions as a possible winner, I hereby pledge that the award would be split with half going towards the monero dev team (just let me do it for a better spot in the hall of fame  ;D)
Cheers!
Edit: I'm proposing half and not the entire award, for the simple fact that it was not easy to come up with those suggestions, damn hard work I tell ya!  :)
For the fifth and last winner, we decided to split the reward. half (10 XMR) goes to myagui and the other half goes to XMR Dev fund.
I can't ever get enough Moneros, so here's a couple more:
Just want to point out that the tx links are broken, monerochain seems out of date, since it works on chainradar.
