Explain to me how exactly will escrow help in this case? You do realize Paypal can be reversed many months later?

^^ Particularly since they implemented the extended reversal, which is significantly longer than the previous length of time, although I can't remember off the top of my head the exact number of days.

I believe they matched credit card with 180 days. IIRC

Versus the initial 45 days IIRC, which is absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how this provides any protection to users. There are still quite a few ways that he could decide to make the purchase though.

Agreed. PayPal makes it easy to dispute people because they try to make it scamproof; thus proofing it for the other side a lot of the time.

Off-Topic (kind of)- KTC, your signature is very relevant to the topic  ;D

One is the question only what you means , Insanity- those who buy and those who sell?
or PayPal’s with  annual revenue over $7 billion and 157 million  wallets , untrustworthy METHODS OF PAYMENT in this forum

I don't know what your post means...

Of course they have a lot of people that use it. Specifically, pertaining to BTC transactions though, where it's still a somewhat gray area, it'd be difficult to resolve disputes successfully.

You'll keep getting scammed if you try to buy BTC for paypal here unless you deal with someone trusted. Only problem is you're still new so I doubt any trusted member will sell to you for paypal.

You're better off finding a different way to buy BTC.

Did you confirm it with him that you were intending on selling it? Before it can be proven that it was a scam, you need to provide proper proof that such a transaction was agreed upon prior and then that he failed to pay...???

He gets $175. You really shouldn't use PayPal to buy goods; people are less willing to sell them, because it's too easy to dispute a transaction.

If it's a fake account, he could've withdrawn the money within the span of the transaction. His account would have a negative balance, and PayPal wouldn't really do anything about it. You should really just use something like localbitcoins.com, since it's trusted. Buying through PayPal is something that's not covered by their terms of service, so anyone that sold to you would be VERY wary after the fact.

The problem is .145 BTC is worth $51+.  So not only losing money right off the bat but also losing money on the paypal fees, and you have to offer a percentage for the possible risk of using a reversable method like paypal.

There are quite a few escrowers out there that do escrows for free; I might start doing it myself. If you're still looking for people next week, I'll be willing to do it for you haha. If you look at other Marketplace sections, there's a post of the list of escrowers, with their respective fees.

Escrow Whitelist: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276897.0

I highly advise against using PayPal for Bitcoin. When there are new users involved (ie. newer than 2 years or so), one of two scenarios will almost always play out:

1. The seller ends up taking your PayPal payment and stalling until he can cash out
2. The buyer receives the Bitcoins but then disputes the PayPal payment

The only real question is which one of you is the scammer.

I forget how many days it is before it passes the period where you can dispute, but theoretically, if the seller deposits the BTC to the escrower, and then the buyer sends the money directly, over PayPal, can't the escrower just send the BTC after the period has passed?

Let the seller know there's a problem with the transaction by opening a dispute in the Resolution Center within 45 days of making your payment. Then, escalate the dispute to a claim within 20 days of the date you opened the dispute.

Trying to arrange a deal, but Op really is hoping for the moon, wanting me to match the rate of a Eur exchange.
Does me no good to match an exchange I'm unable to get funds onto.
And Don't expect a none euro spending person to accept it, Paypal kills you with exchanging to local currency.
