Title: Bitcoin Price in 2015?
Post by: Gabe on December 08, 2014, 07:46:09 AM
Hi everyone,

I saw a few predictions for Bitcoin price in 2015. This is one of the things that caught my attention. They predict Bitcoin will reach $89 but I couldn't really understand why:

https://www.ddmarkets.com/bitcoin-forecast-2015-note-the-bearish-flag

Also, where do you think Bitcoin is heading? Down the drain or sky high?

Earlier this week they tested the rocket that will soon be taking Bitcoin beyond the moon to Mars.

I read the prediction and I admit it does make a bit of sense but I mean, Bitcoin will be $89 in three months?

No

The price will start around $350 for the beginning of 2015 and end just over $500 by the end of the year.

Unless the ETF is announced.

Price will be growing up.  That's what is my prediction for 2015.

2015 will be a year of the Bitcoin.  2014 was pretty hard because of few not cool incidents like mtGox.

I feel very bullish for 2015.

Kind regards.

The M2 money supply of Angola (59th on a GDP-sorted list of countries) is equivalent to $46.7 billion.

Bitcoin's money supply currently clocks in a little under $5 billion.

It seems clear that if Bitcoin succeeds in the long run, it'll be considerably more globally important than the Angolan Kwanza.

You can do your own risk/reward analysis (and your own analysis of how many people might sit down and do some of these calculations in 2015).

(...and you can make these comparisons between countries' M1, M2, etc, all day long.)

The fact it is in circulation does not mean it won't devalue. Although it is an extreme example but take the Japanese yen. I took a look at the chart and it appears Bitcoin reached lower support of the flag. It will not break below it could rebound from here, not sure how much though. I will be keeping a close eye on it.

It's possible and price has broken down below their lower trend line.  The next few weeks will be very telling to the direction the trend wants to take.

I think it is definitely worth noting that the last spike in price coincided with the highest weekly exchange volume in bitcoin history... double the previous record... mainly China.  Over 6 million coins were traded (almost half of the entire coins in circulation) compared to the previous record of just over 3 million in November 2013.  That is extremely bullish.  http://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/volume/5y?c=e&r=week&t=a&volume_unit=btc (http://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/volume/5y?c=e&r=week&t=a&volume_unit=btc)

That's a great stat and graph - did not realize it was twice as much as we had back during the run-up and bubble last year!  Thanks for sharing!

Bitcoin got over $1,000 because of 2 bots, Willy and Markus that were implanted in MTGOX. What you are seeing now is referred to in financial terms as a technical correction. I followed Bitcoin daily chart and it closed under the support, which is a sign for further selling. I will keep on eye on the weekly chart but it doesn't look good so far, at last in my opinion.

Anyone who actually believes that the Willy bot was the sole reason for the 3rd or 4th enormous rally in bitcoin doesn't deserve to be taken seriously, let alone listened to.

The price in 2015 would definitely go up, but it would be hard to predict to what level.
With increasing adoption, we can hopefully come back to over 600$ by the end of middle of next year.

But a little hard to believe, and probably will continue as is, ranging between $ 350.00 and $ 400.00
let's wait and see what awaits us

Well I think it will remain higher than $89 dollars
If there were some gripes with Bitcoin development that would be the reason for the price going down there though
Aka Blockchain 2.0 smoked bitcoin because are developers couldn't get their thinking cap straight
Otherwise we should be going up to 1000 sometime in 2015

puhleeez. There are more factors than charts, global news plays a huge roll on bitcoin, adoption by companies does too. We will probably all take a hit, then eventually in 2015 the market will rebound and actually be a market, compared to the exponential prices in 2013.

Technical analysis covers the global news, google technical analysis if you will see what I mean. About 2013, these gains were caused by 2 bots called Willy and Markus. If you didn't know about them before, google will give plenty of info.

I think the bitcoin price in the middle of 2015 will be at least ~ $550 - 700 , but most probably it will near the 500 dollars.I think also we will not see the 1'000 dollars at least until the next block reward halving = 25 BTC >> 12.5 BTC .

Maybe the price will raise also when  paypal , amazon , google , etc.... will accept him directly without use bitPay but whit the use of their payment processor (  I will hope they use this scheme: 70 % convert to the  FIAT  value and the remaining 30 % hodl or use them with the other company accept it).

I don't think that merchant acceptance on its own will be a driver of price change in a positive direction - at least it hasn't been so far this past year.

I do think it's a huge step towards acceptance and strengthening of the infrastructure which will allow actual values that high, instead of over-inflated pumps to that level like we saw in 11/13

Merchant adoption =/= increase in demand. This should be common sense by now, but if a consumer can already use cash/credit cards/paypal, etc with a merchant, there is no incentive for using bitcoin! The only exception is when a merchant offers a limited time discount, like Dell and Newegg did earlier this year. But that is now gone.

That's why the price isn't at $5,000 or $10,000 like people expected on page one. There is no incentive for people to buy bitcoin right now. And an ETF or some bullshit like that won't change that fact either.

An ETF won't make any difference? Are you sure?

BTC works wonderfully for merchants. It's up to them to make it equally wonderful for their customers.

So far the price is falling like they said it will. I know some of you are probably saying it doesn't mean anything but look, Bitcoin lost 20% of its value since the they made their prediction. Microsoft news didn't do much, maybe the market is scared they will sell the Bitcoins right away? I also think traders mined altcoins and exchanged them for Bitcoins. Maybe the altcoin miners stopped for some reason and Bitcoin is losing more of its value? I don't see Bitcoin reaching $5,000 in 2015 unless the banking system is compromised, which will send ppl off to Bitcoin.

I mined some paycoin but now that paycoin is dropping... the paycoin hash rate was like 25PH-60PH showing the slight drop from the bitcoin hashrate. But now paycoin is losing it's value and everyone might start coming back to BTC mining, giving some faith in btc

It's not fake. It's just because Chinese exchanges charging zero fee so people keep on buying and selling at no cost.

The fact is that they were right and Bitcoin dropped from $370 to almost $300, you can't argue with facts. Did you see their chart? They just made an update by the way, saying there is an intraday support but if it breaks below it will keep going down.

i have seen it and I remain totally unimpressed, they just managed to guess the right direction, out of two choices - up or down since btc is volatile which everybody knows :)

If 'guessing' is proven successful over time then they are good guessers and I am happy to listen and act upon their guesses lol Anything you trade in the market, stocks, futures, options can be classified as guessing. You will see it as guessing while others will see it as a statistical trading strategy.

You need to look again.  Notice where that $2,000 line is? it's like $800 above the highest point that BTC got to.  That's the All Time High.

My prediction is BTC will be trading between $250 to $550 range in 2015 give or take $50.00 USD. Put your sell order at $450 and buy order at $300 and you'll be sure to profit at the end of 2015. I think we'll go below $290 before heading up to $500 range then downward toward end of the 2015 due to miners needing money for holidays and Christmas shopping.

I had sell order set at $450 and buy at $350 in 2014 and profited.

I think it will take next 5 to 10 years before we have BTC stabilization. As for me, sooner the better no matter what the price is since I'm in for the long term. I'm only 30 and can wait another 20 years or more. I just want BTC to be sustainable for main street.

I think there is a good chance it will pass 1600 by the end of the year. It it will get into a bull run in the 2nd half, and go past the ATH. The doubt is whether it will have enough time left in this year to go past 1600, or will it do that early next year.

My answer is Yes.

I've watched hundreds of coins being dumped at once with no follow through. It might scare a few sellers out, but for the most part they have exited the market. The price can't go down without them.

Also this guy's bearish wedge is funny. Anyone can draw lines on a chart. Understanding the background and knowing when to spot strengths and weaknesses is what makes a good trader.

No

Let me know what you think. I understand a bit of the patterns, https://www.ddmarkets.com/bitcoin-forecast-2015-note-the-bearish-flag

The price will start around $350 for the beginning of 2015 and end just over $500 by the end of the year.

Unless the ETF is announced.

What basis are speaking of? Bitcoin price in 2015 is anyone's guess. Price is determined by the seller and buyer much like supply and demand. It's has no other tangible measurement to determine the price and there is no governing body to set the price. It more people wants the BTC than supply, BTC will go up. If more people get rid of their BTC to pay necessities, BTC will drop. IMHO, BTC does not have value foundation. It's the idea of being able to transact without borders or high transaction fees are the main attraction to BTC but what's the value? It's anyone's guess.

Good for you. I sold @ $450 but bought it all back at $350 and felt good to gain additional bitcoins. I'm feeling so good now but this shall pass. I only invested on bitcoin what I can afford to lose including purchase of hardware for mining. I'm in for the long term so if BTC remains, I'm hopeful.

I repeat: Hope dies last.  ;D
