Hey!

I know thepiratebay.se was taken down but I saw something interesting today.

Usually when I went to the site it never loaded, but today it loaded to a black screen.

When I took a look at the source, it had some isohunt source links, and adcash javascripts loaded.

Why is it back up?

You might want to reload the page. I see a background video of a pirate flag. I checked the source and it does seem like there's some stuff from isohunt, but I can't say why.

Ah, my bad. I forgot my Chrome looks different than the default. The video runs fine for me, I hope someone can back me on this.

Not sure why its not working for me. Im running flash 16.0.0.

When I press "View Video in New Tab", it opens an mp4 file.

EDIT: Opened in Incognito and now it just shows a skull flag.

It doesn't reveal a lot more though; according to the article, the pirate flag seems to be hosted by IsoHunt's Open Bay site, but there has been no official answer as to what is going on behind the scenes. :)

Hoping that this is a sign that the Pirate Bay might go back online soon...

The videos have nothing hidden in them. They have been hosted by IsoHunt way before TPB was taken down.

Kickass torrents is the (imho) best alternative site, until piratebay comes back on. I was surprised when I first found out.

Domain being back up is a great sign. I really can't wait to have thepiratebay back.

Just use kickass.to it's the best alternative now that the piratebay is missing.

I downloaded about 100gb of data today, the same one that I had previously gotten from TPB. So they are pretty great.

Kind of off topic, but would anyone know the best method of storing torrented movies? Would prefer not to have to re-torrent it upon getting onto a new laptop.

Build or buy a file server. Something like this if you're cheap http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16859107052 Or just a large external drive if you're really cheap and don't need much storage.

Or roll your own and go with FreeNAS, Unraid, or one of the other solutions. I made mine out of leftover computer parts and it works great. The original version of it I ran for 2 years had a sempron 140 in it, which is a 2.7 GHz single core so you don't need a beast just to run some hard drives. Though more power helps if you want it to perform other duties like torrents, usenet, Kodi server, transcoding, etc. Upside to a file server is you can offload all those sorts of duties to it, and not have to leave your main computer/laptop on and busy. Also some protection against drive failure.

You can do what BadBear said, or if you decide to keep your old laptop, you can make a server out of it.

Also, not sure if this will work, but you can buy a raspberry pi and hook it up to a hard drive.

iptorrents.com is pretty good for a beginner. Keep in mind that private tracker have very strict rules and you have to mantain a download:upload ratio. Which means, you must leave your torrents on seed and/or upload new content.

They have that for a lot of their full-length movies. If you try watching it, it'll give you some bullshit trailer, and then it'll prompt for payment for access to the whole site.

In my honest opinion, it's a dumb movie.
It entertains for 2 hours but I'd never spend a dime to see it, it's just too dumb.
It even failed to make me laugh...
I'd say it is a movie for those who liked the Hangover trilogy.

^ seems the mods and admins were kicked out. But they said they were going to start another site. The real pirate bay according to them. The outcome of the raid seems to have been to increase the number of torrent sites, and helping their technical development.

That's always a good thing, people relying too much on one site is dangerous. I know I started using others, and also started using VPNs because of all this.

I just see that thepiratebay.se is back again, which is great news of course.

The only downside is that I don't trust any upload since the old crew is not active anymore.

If it wasnt for the legality of the way torrents are used to infringe copyrights etc people really overlook how easy it is to transfer really large files like 10+ gb with torrents, you dont need google drive / skydrive / dropbox etc or anything of that sorts.

The Pirate Bay is like whack-a-mole ... I love it.

If there's one site on the internet where I don't mind ads, it's the tpb. I have no problem seeing their ads considering what they bring to the freedom of the internet.

There are quite legit torrents around there and yes, it's quite a great way.
But only to distribute files (size independent) over lots of users.
And that's why there is also a load of copyright infringing content.
But is it the problem which content people download or is it the hole copyright idea wrong instead?
Putting aside those who download and resell the contents (which yes, it is wrong), isn't that the way some of that content really reaches the public?
Would some of the worst movies ever, be seen by anyone if it wasn't for the "illegal" download?
Would anyone ever listen to Taylor Swift if it wasn't the mp3?
This reminds me the eternal dilemmas raised by MP3 and yet, nowadays it is the standard! ;)
