Title: coins that you can trust for long term
Post by: vince232 on March 22, 2015, 03:35:39 PM
hi guys. can you give coins that you really trust.
above 1 year old and still devs are developing the coin

with so many scam coins around. i want to invest on coins which i can rely.
many coins now are only pump and dump in which you must really follow the market or you wont even save a single dollar off it.
im looking for a coin which i dont need to check the market time after time or even their btc talk page and still be at ease.

thanks!

ps please dont include DRK,LTC,BTC or any coins that are already expensive or with high market cap

I'm all for alts to compete with BTC, but unfortunately, most of them simple seem to be scams with not motivation aside from enriching their creators.

Why not just stick with bitcoin? It's the only one that really fits your initial criteria (bolded). Bitcoin isn't really expensive (and LTC is very cheap at the moment) but if you're just hoping to buy an alt coin cheap in the hope that it rises considerably in value I'd suggest  just buying bitcoin as I still think you'll see a decent profit in the long run if you just hold.

guybrushthreepwood is right, OP.Bitcoin is the original and the one that most people love.

We've been slowly building Goldcoin (GLD) for the past two years, and our lead developer is dedicated to making our Gen2 client (to be released this month) faster and more secure than ever. We're also seeing growing interest in South Africa, UK, and Russia.

At present market levels, I believe this is an excellent time to become invested in our currency. The next great opportunity will come from an altcoin currently flying below the radar. And in my view, Goldcoin won't be flying low for much longer.

Digitalcoin. (DGC)

2 years old coin with stable background, alive community and great team with lots of interesting developments. They activity are growing, price is low but stable for months, ideal for long term investing. Nobody made pump and dump in the last 12 months.
I collecting and trust in as Bitcoin, but the reachable profit is much higher.

I like the DGC as an alt, it's long been one of my favourites.

There's a lot of dev work nearing completion which will result in DGC having new real world usages for blockchain technology.

This is a matter of weeks away, maybe sooner.

Been accumulating digitalcoin since 2013.  Other than BTC, it's the only coin I trust for long term.  Everything else is speculation.

Bitcoin - BTC, namecoin- NMC, Counterparty XCP - are trustworthy. Ethereum may be another coin when it is released to look into.

Most others are very sketchy.

ps please dont include DRK,LTC,BTC or any coins that are already expensive or with high market cap

Ahh... I see you want to gamble on a low value coin that has an unlikely future but at the same time want something you can trust. Sorry, you cannot have it both ways.

low value but with a dedicated team.

nxt is a low value coin it is only at 3k sat but it dedicated team.

how about ripple or maidsafe or nushares? what do you think about them.

how about ripple or maidsafe or nushares? what do you think about them.

NxT at least has some solid development but is unlikely to have any future and there are some underlying concerns over the initial distribution and various other issues with the development.

Ripple is a debt based currency that is dangerously controlled by a select few individuals.

Maidsafe has been in development forever and has a lot of competition with various different technologies so its future is uncertain and is a big gamble.

Nushares ??? very risky/experimental new coin

Almost every coin has fallen greatly against BTC unless they are new coins with a manipulated volume/price.

So for you what coins have a good development for the future.  I know cryptoworld is unpredictable but which coins do you believe in?

Nxt for large and expanding core dev team (13 at last count), APIs that allow other projects to be easily built on top of the core (SuperNet, DeBuNe, Jinn, Nxt Academy etc) and a large laid back community that have their eyes firmly set on the long term  8) And that is without going into any details of the features that are available to users and devs  ;D

Consistently top 10 coin for more than a year (if marketcap means anything) and well positioned for when the bearish sentiment evaporates. Do you own research, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Mintcoin "MINT"

Over a year old, active devs, solid community. 30x faster than bitcoin. Energy efficient. Collect mintings from transaction fees. No mining required, just save them in your wallet and they mint you more coins with time.

I wouldn't go a day without looking at bitcoin's price. I even receive SMS updates on my phone. You can't trust the technology behind bitcoin but not it's price. With that said I don't even trust bitcoin (as an investment) for the long term.

Digitalcoin was started May 2013 and has been running without issue ever since. It has always kept fair PoW rewards and it's distribution is solid, check these stats from the CryptoID block explorer: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dgc/

https://i.imgur.com/yXUE50A.png

Very nice distribution proves this coins health :)

Not to mention there's a dedicated development behind this coin that ensures it stays relevant in the crypto scene. In December last year we updated from scrypt to multi-algo, which is a more secure method of encrypting the network.

This coin really deserves more attention, there is a lot of promise here.

Note to mods: I apologize my last post was obnoxious, I see guldencoin and shadow's posts are left alone so hopefully this one isn't too out of line. Only trying to gather attention for DGC.

Ether is a good thing to look at, since it is based on a market that already has tons of value and is an innovation that will allow to decentralize computing and profit from running a portion of the network. Not sure how long will it take to spike but it has a solid basement.

My Nr. 1 is...

Neos!

Best Wallet (not just my opinion)
Best Security-System (Blowfish, 2FA, Theft Recovery, Decoy System)
Syntaks, the Lead-Dev: highly skilled, very honest, everytime helpful, hard-working, and this man is a crypto-visionary

Neos has started end of August and what is already proven: It's here to stay. There is never rushing things out, never just hyping things, naturally but steady growth of the Community. And: I'm a normal User without programming skills, but I see that Neos attracts very smart guys, other Developer for Applications etc.. And: I never saw a problem that was not solved in short time. Therefore, it's great to watch the progress.

If somebody is searching for an still undervalued Project with real quality, real value and longterm-perspective... should take a closer look.
The Focus is on user-friendliness and security. In my opinion the most important requirements for a project. And there are big plans.

Quotes, out of the 2.1-Ann-Thread:

Decoy system: upon entering the system with a bad password, it won't seem any different from a valid login.  In fact, it will allow the attacker to proceed with nearly every function that they would be able to had they logged in with a valid password.  From sending Neos, to withdrawing it from exchanges - it's all fabricated and very convincing and while they think they're in the process of robbing you blind, they're actually just being kept busy while you're notified of it.

Notification system: upon bad login, if you've registered an email address with our security system, you'll be notified with details when someone attempts to break into your wallet.

Two-factor authentication: in your Neos settings, you have the option to configure your Google Authenticator for Neos.  Simply scan the QR code, verify the code from your phone and save your settings and you're now protected with two-factor auth the next time you attempt to log in.

Something new introduced

I've always stated Neos was a creation out of passion for crypto and what it represents: freedom.  I've also expressed my distain for those wishing only to flourish by means of theft.  Every time I hear of either a scandalous exchange closing down due to apparent theft, or people having their coin stolen via wallet stealers or computers stolen I cringe just as crypto does as it's being punched in the proverbial stomach.  I'm not here just for Neos, I'm here for crypto and the community in general is something I value.  With that being said, I wanted to code something that would serve not only the Neos community but potentially the entire community.

With that being said I present to you with Neos Kratos - our thief locator and fund recovery system.

I'll outline the possible scenarios in which this system is useful and what it's capable of and then take a less technical approach in my explanation.

1.  Someone sends out a wallet stealer disguised as another coin, you run it - your funds are gone but the thief has your wallet now even if it's encrypted.
2.  Someone breaches an exchange and steals the wallet files from it
3.  Someone steals your laptop with your wallets on it

Here's what's going to happen as a result in each one of those situations:

1.  You're going to be notified via e-mail as to the location of the thief as precisely as possible using geo-location methods.  The data provided can then be used in locating the offender.
2.  You're going to receive your wallet back via email

Future (Quoted partially):

- A custom marketplace is already in development
- One thing I can happily say is that we're currently being processed by LitePaid.com and coingateway.net.  As more services accept Neos as an option that have APIs, you can bet we're going to be developing for those services to the best of our ability - with a unique approach.
- we have a hardware wallet in development that utilizes the new Neos system and is in plain English - pretty damned cool.

********************

Another bigger step could be Koinyx, because it will be fully registered and:
Koinyx has plans for some other novel features that will reward community members and excite traders. In addition, the Koinyx team has started work in order to introduce fiat into the exchange.
http://www.koinyx.com

Why I'm talking about it: I like the order of projects that will get listed. Neos is right after the big names. ;-)

What also could come in future is POS. There is already a discussion about it:

"Hey folks,

Quite a few people in the community have expressed their interest in Neos switching from PoW - to full PoS after cutting off PoW at a certain height. This topic is here for feedback and discussion to determine the actual interest in doing this. Thoughts please.

Best regards,

Damn.. I thought that technology was reserved for hollywood film studios, I'm impressed the development team has managed to bring it to our desktops. I think that's a sure sign of it's longevity

Definitely Reddcoin - 14 months in and there are 8 devs hard at work, and yet it inexplicably retains a sub-million-dollar market cap.

BTC, LTC, NXT, Digibyte, and honestly Nautilus should not be ignored.

Oh and super amazing blue shiny Diamond coin.  Haha, I hope nobody catches the sarcasm on that one.

NMC has also done a very solid job holding value - thanks to BTC.

Litecoin, Next, Bytecoin - Go for alt coins that are innovative and original. Steer clear of clones, forks and 'we'll do this great thing sometime in the future' shitcoins like DOGE, Monero and Maidsafe.

Bytecoin is the first cryptonote coin and is being developed actively. However, it is tainted by 82% premine, otherwise it is another bitcoin.
