1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2018's 5x TOP 5 on: March 11, 2018, 06:02:07 PM
Currently as everything seems to be languishing at massive discounts, here are my top 5 picks for this year.  I expect each of them to do at least a 5x return by Nov/Dec 2018:

- SiaCoin (SC)
- 0x Protocol (ZRX)
- NEM (NEM)
- CREDITS (CS)
- Bitcore (BTX)

Nice picks, I think credits is the stand out coin from that selection as it has the potential to do so much more than 5x.

SiaCoin i'm a little dubious of, it's been around for a long time and already has a very large market cap, I think 5x could be too much, although I think it will probably hit it on some random pump I just don't expect it to sustain that price.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $500 Reward for Solving Ethereum Puzzle on: March 11, 2018, 05:58:42 PM
I don’t know why people sort after easiest ways of making wealth
It is most times filled with regrets and disappointment and you need to avoid been phished
More importantly, trade wisely

You can look up dascoin if it ease your difficulties

Solving such a puzzle will definitely not be one of the easiest ways to make wealth and it also won't lead to them getting phished. Did you even read the OP?

People will be doing this because it is something that interests them and the monetary incentive will just be an added bonus. There have been many such things in the past, in fact I believe there is still a bitcoin one with much funds locked away in it that has never been solved.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Big budget versus Great idea. Who eventually wins? on: March 10, 2018, 06:56:03 PM
It's impossible to say because there are a lot more factors. It's possible both could fail or both could succeed. I would like to think that the best idea will eventually win out if they have the correct people behind it, based on the fact that they can raise awareness and funding relatively easily. That's much easier to do than coming up with a good idea.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sierra Leone Secretly Holds First Blockchain-Powered Presidential Vote on: March 10, 2018, 06:54:22 PM
Is it then an online vote or is it still a vote where you are required to go to a polling station but then your vote is cast electronically? I would have thought that there wouldn't be much need for counting and it would be almost instantaneous.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Proof bitcoin is NOT a bubble (w/hopefully laughs included) on: March 09, 2018, 06:50:13 PM
I think that the argument of growth being too high is a fairly flawed argument and you've pretty much just proved why. These are only some of the most well known stocks as well, there would be some very obscure stocks which have probably enjoyed even greater returns.

The main difference comes back to the 'intrinsic' value argument. It's clear to see what these stocks are supported by because it's a company and their revenue and then the dividend that they'll pay out.

With bitcoin that is missing and that's why I think people make such an argument (I don't want to get in to the intrinsic value argument but I'll just quickly say that I don't believe in it because all values are intrinsic so it's not anything new to bitcoin).
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Proper accounting for tax purposes on: March 09, 2018, 06:40:22 PM

I have not reported any signature campaign earnings yet. But the problem is that if I accumulate Bitcoins from signature campaigns and don’t report them, and then I cash them out on Coinbase, isn’t there a chance that Coinbase will disclose the sale to the IRS and audit my tax return? I just don’t want the IRS on my case if I have not reported everything.

This will almost certainly be flagged. Every time you convert crypto to fiat you will likely owe some tax. I think that signature campaigns would be treated as income (for the initial payment) and then if you decide to hold them beyond that time then any further increases would be capital gains.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mega Cryptocurrency Scam Cripples South African Investors on: March 08, 2018, 06:39:50 PM
There's one overwhelming similarity in a lot of the 'scams' we see in crypto and it's that they all offer guaranteed pay outs and a lot of them piggy back of the success of other projects by using their name. Bitconnect, bitglobal, ethlend etc.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: surprise 2018 on: March 08, 2018, 06:37:37 PM
I think a lot of people got into the market in late 2017 thinking money is easy to earn and they can just buy any crypto and get rich.

This attracted too much attention and now the market is sold down by all these new investors who are getting burnt and getting out of

the market.

When the market rises again, these same buyers will want to jump in one more time..

Doesn't this sounds the same as the stock markets??

Human behaviour is the same everywhere.. I do not think this is a surprise.

And we are likely to be "surprise" by the next growth stage after all the weak hands have sold of their crypto..

Cryptocurrencies have the same cyclical nature as the stock market, the only difference is that they are not established and that means that the cycles are a lot more extreme. No one knows how high things can go and so the pumps are crazy, at the same time no one knows if crypto is here to stay and that's why the dumps are so hard.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Proper accounting for tax purposes on: March 08, 2018, 06:36:04 PM
As well as all of the suggestions it's important to keep track of any spending, depending on your earnings it may be taxed as capital gains or as income. If it's income then you'll be able to deduct a lot of expenses. Things like new laptops, a phone, internet costs etc.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: United Nations Exploring Blockchain on: March 04, 2018, 05:34:25 PM
There seems to be a lot of such stories recently with large corporations, governments, governing bodies, banks etc all looking to explore the uses of blockchain technology.

While this doesn't explicitly have to be linked to cryptocurrencies it will only help them as it will increase awareness and acceptance around the world.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Indonesia on: March 03, 2018, 06:19:40 PM
I do not think that it makes too much difference if you are in Indonesia or elsewhere.

There are 2 clear paths to take and they are investing/trading and mining. The limitation with these is they both require capital and entail risk.

Participating in bounty campaigns or doing other work related to cryptocurrencies is essentially risk free but the rewards are much lesser.
12  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC - Once Wall Street Enters You will Wish You Owned More! on: March 03, 2018, 06:17:31 PM
the last few weeks the market looks sluggish, hopefully as a sign of preparation for the highest peak, and have an impact on altcoin rise..  Wink
The market is probably going to remain this way for some more weeks or months, I'm bullish for bitcoin in the long term since it will be almost impossible for the price to go down over the long term but in the short term I do not see many signals the price is going to recover that fast after all I do not see many positive news or developments that could push the price up.

I don't feel like the market needs much positive news right now and in fact I think just the fact that bitcoin is still being mentioned in many high level discussions is a positive sign.

Each time that bitcoin has a crash and recovers it will look better as an investment in peoples eyes as they'll trust more in the fact that it's not just a bubble.

I believe that if we have no negative news for a few months we will recover towards 20k without any real good news. 'No news is good news'
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Carney calls for crackdown on crypto-currency 'mania' on: March 03, 2018, 06:15:35 PM
"A better path would be to regulate elements of the crypto-asset ecosystem to combat illicit activities, promote market integrity, and protect the safety and soundness of the financial system," he said.
Epic quote, it is like the US dollar and other fiat currencies are never used for illegal activites Shocked. Oh and lets protect the "soundness" of the current financial system, wow what meth have you been smoking? There is nothing sound about excluding 5 billion people. There is nothing sound about running KYC and AML for no reason other than leaving oneself open to a potential hack later. Please give me a break, the current financial system has failed most if not all of us we needed a shakeup.

KYC and AML measures are fairly understandable and a step forward for cryptocurrencies, provided you are looking at it from an investors point of view instead of an idealistic point of view.

When there are better regulations in place more and more people will invest in cryptocurrencies as they can trust it much more.

Right now people are too put off by the stories of scams and such.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CFTC and SEC Allowing Employees for Cryptocurrency Trading on: March 02, 2018, 04:35:07 PM
Are their employees allowed to trade stocks and shares? (google doesn't seem to want to tell me)

I always find it funny when they have the caveat of not being able to use insider information yet it's near impossible not to do that. If you were privy to some information you'd be a fool not to use it.
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Carney calls for crackdown on crypto-currency 'mania' on: March 02, 2018, 04:32:56 PM
The title is a bit misleading, I expected this to be overwhelmingly bad. It's a worldwide trend now to push for cryptocurrencies to be better regulated and I for one think that longer term it's a good thing and will only contribute to the continued success of cryptocurrencies.

It's going to be very interesting to watch how different countries try to tackle things as it's a very difficult area to effectively regulate.
16  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC - Once Wall Street Enters You will Wish You Owned More! on: March 02, 2018, 04:29:07 PM
the last few weeks the market looks sluggish, hopefully as a sign of preparation for the highest peak, and have an impact on altcoin rise..  Wink

I think that altcoins are largely the reason behind this, it's taking time for money to flow out of alts that were pumped to much too high levels in the recent months. Once they've returned to more normal levels the money can then begin to flow in to the stronger alts as well as bitcoin.

Couple that with uncertainty around bitcoin price and what's a true reflection of its value, along with where support levels are and we can see why things have been struggling.

On the wall street point. It's easy to say that we'll wish we owned more if there's a large influx of funds from wall street but similarly we could say we wish we owned less if that day never comes.
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Getting past the "Accredited investor" problem on: March 01, 2018, 11:39:06 PM
Nope. If they have restrictions on US investors that required you to be an accredited investor then they only hope is becoming one.

You could try and find someone to purchase for you who is not a US citizen but then you would be entering in to some sort of a trust trade and would have to pay them a premium of sorts.

If you can find someone to build a relationship with who is trustworthy then this is probably the best route. Try check out the services section, maybe someone already offers this  Huh
18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: LITECOIN NEXT MOVE- showing us two targets on: March 01, 2018, 11:37:06 PM
Overall the market seems to be recovering slowly but steadily. Litecoin will likely be no different. There's good support around 185 and a large amount of resistance at $245. If I was looking to trade LTC now I would trade within those margins, I would look to buy around 195-200 and sell around 230-235. The price will likely fluctuate within those limits until bitcoin has a major breakthrough and shows that the market is free to go full bull mode.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone traded on Huobi? I have doubts with their trade volume on: March 01, 2018, 11:31:58 PM
I've traded there with little problems. I'm also not sure why Chinese is an issue, you can do everything in English and it's not a problem at all? Their volume isn't that large, they're about the 4th biggest exchange.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: 9.2K remains the effective support, will BTC break below it in the short term? on: February 28, 2018, 09:25:41 PM
The support around 9k held strong, that seems like it could be the new bottom but we'll have to see if it's tested again. If the price can get back up to the resistance at 11.8k in the next few days then I think we could be in for a nice bull run. I wouldn't be surprised to see the price ping pong between 9.5k and 11.5k for a week or two first.
