Could you share your settings ? I want to get better efficiency.

I let my miner running for month without any modification.
I'm between 46 and 50 mh per vega with 130W display in phoenix miner ( 56 with 64 bios).

My settings are now :
Windows 10
Adrenaline 18.6.1
Vega 56 with  64 bios
PPT tables
Running at 991/850mv 1080/850mv
Old tweak with amd mem tweak.

I tried to update driver but I cannot use PPT with them so consumption increase a lot.

Any advice ?

Hi! I hear what you're saying, but I still don't have a solution for you, it's not our product. The AMDMemoryTweak tool thread is your best shot, and I know you've asked there as well.

Afaik the (non-XL) version of the GUI is just a wrapper around WinAMDTweak.exe but maybe there's something else as well. Since it's closed source we don't know. It doesn't response to /?, --help or any other standard call, it just opens the gui.

I found a solution to the problem.

The latest version of amdmemorytweak, it does not work for me.

Definitely. Flash your Vega 56 with 64 air bios.
It'll help as it will increase the memory frequency of the card.
In 56 bios, I was able to hit 935 MHz but with 64 air bios flashed the memory frequency was stable at 1100MHz.
Any further and it was unstable.

Hello,
I have some vega 56 and 64 founder edition (ssamsung memory).
I'm trying to find some settings for them but it keep crashing.

I'm using this one on vega 56 : --rc 38 --rcdrd 12 --rcdwr 5 --rp 11 --faw 13 --RRDL 3 --rtp 4 --ref 15600
but i get only 41mh/s with crash.

Do I need to flash bios them with 64 bios ?

Is there any good specific timing for ETH on Vega 64 and 56 ?

Do I need to flash Vega 56 with 64 bios ?

What about when you run every state @ 900?  What does hwinfo say about SOC in that case?  Or are you sayin opening hwinfo while mining causes a crash?  If so, try running hwinfo first

When I run every state @900 it's working (for almost all card execpte bad ones 4/22) and hwinfo  is reporting 895mV, 1107 SOC


Ok - one other possibility...  somewhere between the TRM implementation, and newer versions of drivers, I feel like I’ve seen instances of transitional states lighting up long enough for voltage settings to actually matter.  It’s possible you’re crashing during the p4-p5 transition going from 800 to 1107, as 820mv may be too low (or something like that.) 

Try setting either a more graduated voltage list, or set every state to your final voltage (I would suggest the former, in keeping w/ the PPT as floor concept.)

I just reinstall 18.6.1 on my test RIG ( 1 Vega 64 and 4 vega 56/64bios) (Most of them are bad card).
I Used 850mV PPT from page 67:

Look like it use the higher voltage of disable state when running.

So I try to change my PPT by using 820mV for all state except the last one for core and mem.
I keep the exact same P7 core and P3 mem but my card is reporting dead almost one min after starting to mine.

Any explanation ?

For the PPT , I checked all my rig ( all running at 895 mV for the good one ) even when I set up 850 mV Core P7 And Mem P3.
When I try to lower voltage for CORE P4 and above I get a crash everytime ( vega 56 and vega 64).
Two ideas : I just lost silicon lotery for all card or my PPT are really bad.

Running  drivers 18.6.1
Soc Clock : 1107 ( VEga 64 and 56)
I cannot use mem timing , too much increase in heat and consumption.
I will try to test other PPT.


I’m betting the issue w/ being stuck @ 900mv is due to you having set p0 @ 900.  Even though you have lower states locked out in ODNT, you would already be at 900 in your idle state, before ODNT is ever involved.  This may very well prevent you from ever going lower.

Best practice is to have voltages in PPT be coded as a floor - this allows it to serve its purpose (removing the uv barrier,) while staying out of the way otherwise.  Your idea of setting 820 across the board except for top states is moving in the right direction (though I believe default p0 is actually 800, so 820 is still high.). As for why that approach causes crashes - only thing I can think is that 900 has been a threshold voltage for 1200 SOC in my exp.  Are you sure you’re running 1107 SOC?  As in, that’s what’s reported in hwinfo under load?

Yeah P0 was 900mV in my PPT , I cannot check with hwinfo because my rig crash I use it when mining. But I checked with the excel generator and for 1107 SOC and I have the same value in my PPT.

I will try 850mV PPT from ingyenfrag (Page 67) to see is there is any change

When I was looking how to decrease consumption I found two things really weird.

One of my rig is reporting a huge diference between reported hashrate and pool hashrate . ( No hw error etc..)

There is no error and there is 2 kh/s between pool hashrate and reported hashrate.

Miner vs poolside testing is a b*tch, and I dedicated the last section of the CN_MAX_YOUR_VEGA.txt guide in the 0.4.4 release to it. That said, your numbers are way off, this should happen in <= 0.07% of all cases _if you were running at a static diff_. Since you aren't, it's really difficult to reason about if this is a "normal outlier" that happens every 100th run, or that it more or less proves that something clearly is off.

Drilling deeper and looking at each gpu, two of your cards look a little fishy at 1480 h/s poolside, but we have way too little data to assert anything on a per-gpu basis. So, please run a xmrig-proxy test as decribed in the guide for e.g. 50k shares total and you should have the data you need - it might be that those two cards are not doing great at the current clocks and/or timing mods, and it should be clearly visible with that higher amount of shares. We're doing tons and tons of testing ourselves to make sure we hit the poolside hashrate, I'd love to get more user data here, but it must be from runs that I know I can trust from a statistical standpoint.

Newer drivers often seem to lock P7 core+P3 mem during load to not be too aggressive with switching p-states.

For the PPT itself, this is an artform. Don't be fooled by the view in ODNT. The only thing that exists is a single vdd lookup table which is _shared_ by core and mem states. ODNT fools you into believing that you can separate voltage settings for e.g. core P4 from mem P3, which isn't true unless you do some serious PPT tweaking. I'm not 100% it's possible even then.

To simplify your tests, I'd either (1) use the same target voltage for ALL core and mem states in your PPT or (2) make sure all core and mem states have increasing voltage levels in respective series and also that core P4 voltage == mem P3 voltage and that it matches your target.

I'm not 100% sure what happens in your tests. Maybe mem P3 is rather grabbed from core P4, so in your first test you get 900 mV (~= 895 mV), and in your second test you get 820 mV which is way too low to handle sustained pressure?

I have now run ~72 hours w/o any issues with 24 Vega64 GPUs(good and bad ones) mixed in 4 separate rigs ... CNR with core 1407Mhz /860-970mV , Mem 1080-1100Mhz/860-970mV.

I would say this is pretty stable setup. Pool side 24h avg hashrate fluctuates in the range 54,1-54,4 kH/s

--CL 19 --RAS 28 --RCDRD 12 --RCDWR 5 --RC 44 --RP 12 --RRDS 3 --RRDL 3 --REF 15600 --RFC 250

I am happy and have in my mind... "dont touch when things go smoothly".




That’s an insane voltage range, and I can’t fathom how 970mv could possibly be necessary. Between 9 64s and a flashed 56, I run avg 834mv, none over 850, for similar clocks/timings.  That puts me @ 178w per GPU at the wall.

At 970, you’re running at least 35% higher power, meaning over 240w per card.

It sounds like you have some ppt issues or something, maybe you’re running your SOC @ 1200mhz unnecessarily (it should be 1107 @ your clocks.)  Although, even then, you prob shouldn’t need much more than 925mv.

Oh ! I'm far above that number too.
Could you share your PPT tables  and settings ?

Thanks alot Eliovp for your efforts for the windows version. I have been learning this vague ubuntu thing for the last week until you released windows version.
Now, for the love of god, this 18.50 driver with Ubuntu 18.04 is installable?Huh As a desktop ubuntu NOT headless (i use the machine mainly to experiment on mining, and hell yes this linux is WAY stable than windows.) Can anyone tell me how i can get 18.50 GPU pro running? i tried installing amdgpu install and opencl only from amdgpu pro, tried alot and mostly end up in a stuck boot.


2nd issue! Windows, mate, i tried changing timings simply tRRD of elpida while its running..... (mining Graft with TRD 0.4.3) it succeds in changing tRRd to 4 for example, but when i use --current its back to old value (5) also tCKE/Pulse of Hynix AJR is wierd! 13/13 underload.... oO same with other wierd readings like bus_turn. are these things getting changed dynamically? also my gpus give memory errors while mining so that might explain failure to alter timings?

I recommend to go online and search for a simple tutorial on how to install amdgpu drivers. It's not that hard but i can imagine if it's your first time, that it might be a bit tricky.

I'm working on something to make this process easier.  ;-)


Great tool. I have been playing a bit mainly with list timings in previous post and have found something that works for each type of card I have, V56 V56 flashed to V64 and V64.

Is it better to flash vega 56 with 64 bios or stay with original one ( VEGA 56 reference BlowER ).
Some of them are already hard to get stable ( 1407clock /900 mem : 930 mV for the bad ones)
