Yes, one slot, but the thing is, that slot only doesn't work IF all 4 cards are plugged in, otherwise that single slot will work fine.

I have two rigs, each with the same setup.
4 cards detect on one
Only 3 cards detect in the other
Naturally you'd think the failure point was the card itself, but I've individually tested all of the cards, including that one.
It's fine.
Could this be an issue with the motherboard? Or could it be the PSU?
Hard to imagine the PSU being able to pump enough juice for 3 cards, but not a 4th... Especially when I have the exact same PSU in my other setup.

This "authority" can just connect to some different points of network and log the blocks.
When the majority of the network is reporting one set of blocks as being accurate, and the minority is reporting a different set as accurate... Wouldn't the authority automatically assume the majority?... Looks like you don't get the idea. That's the whole point of the service - to detect presence of the other set. Detection is not a solution. Prevention is. Think of it like AIDS By the time you 'detect' it It's DEFINITELY too late. |

You know what else has already happened too? Tycho has been hacked. That's why he instituted email locks on accounts, because a hacker got into his system and changed peoples addresses. Hacked once... Please, don't tell about what you don't know. Most (~14) victims of that attack were using same passwords on deepbit and another pool that got hacked, that's how the attacker got them. Also they were using same passwords for mining and main account. Hey [Tycho] what's the [Bounty] on the Block Chain Monitor? As it says in the forum thread, my part and those two who added their messages. It's just a strawman, and Tycho knows it. There is no technical way to find orphaned block chains without everyone running bitcoind to update their software to a specific version that would report orphaned blocks to a central authority. And the authority would need to be agreed upon. The client, as it stands, simply abandons them. This "authority" can just connect to some different points of network and log the blocks. When the majority of the network is reporting one set of blocks as being accurate, and the minority is reporting a different set as accurate... Wouldn't the authority automatically assume the majority?... :| Or let's say, they always assume the smaller portion of the network was correct... THAT WOULD MAKE A FORK IN THE BLOCK CHAIN EVEN EASIER TO DO. Your logging at different points in the network idea is not sound. |

Let's say hypothetically tycho forks the block chain about 1000 times, and blocks all the other pools from getting any confirmations of blocks. 5000 people who never read the forums or watch the block chain or know anything other than "my stats are goin up at a fantastic rate!" are going to stop mining on deepbit because...? Your post sounds the most profoundly stupid to me. 1) what would tycho gain from forking the block chain 1000 times? hes making more money by not doing that. 2) if these hypothetical people don't read the forums, how did they learn about tycho's pool to begin with? the unsuccessful always try to punish the successful Imagine if you will, that HP came out with a new printer that could print authentic $USD bills. Do you think that there would be some deflation of the currency as noone would be able to tell if a $20 was authentic or not? Do you think anyone in their right mind would invest in a set amount of the currency when it had no way of being empricially verified to be true anymore? It hurts everyone who uses bitcoin to have someone who is egrigiously violating the spirit of bitcoin's distributed nature. Dude, HP releaed that printer model like 3 years ago... [Tycho], any chance you will lower your hashing rate?
Or even better, make your fee go up as hashing rate increases, so we reach a nice equilibrium? It's not like my hashing rate is rising, it's network block generation speed is low today which causes pie chart to look more scary than usual. Create a good pool, make a better offer to bitcoin miners and they may switch. That's how competition works. It's easy to make a pool with lower fee, there is even an open source pool software available. And that's not the only option. Why not create more ? There will be a LOT of new miners soon. Don't make me say my opinion on bitcoin security for the fourth time  Step 1: Find Tycho's house Step 2: Incapacitate Step 3: Create fake block chain Step 4: False transactions Step 5: Rich Step 6: Collapse of Bitcoin forever And nothing of value was lost. |
