Mostly positive.
3  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-06 ZDNet: Bitcoin: It's not just loopy tulip land, it's worse on: December 06, 2013, 10:34:00 PM
So Bitcoin may indeed be "worse", but only for those who don't have any.

Unless you have a specific price at which point you are going to cash out, you will be in exactly the same position as those you now scorn. It's not a question of if, just when. BitCoin's cool, but human greed exceeds everything in existence.
4  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-04] -Bloomberg - Greenspan says bitcoin a Bubble on: December 06, 2013, 10:29:11 PM
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-12-04/greenspan-says-bitcoin-a-bubble-without-intrinsic-currency-value.html

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said Bitcoin prices are unsustainably high after surging 89-fold in a year and that the virtual money isn’t currency.
“It’s a bubble,” Greenspan, 87, said today in a Bloomberg Television interview from Washington. “It has to have intrinsic value. You have to really stretch your imagination to infer what the intrinsic value of Bitcoin is. I haven’t been able to do it. Maybe somebody else can.”

The man who was the most wrong about everything in economics with the possible exception of every other Fed chief says Bitcoin is a bubble and has no intrinsic value.
We must be on to something here.

So if Greenspan is wrong about everything else, that automatically disqualifies him as giving a valid opinion on BitCoin? What if he is right, have you considered that, or does that not fit in with your worldview?
5  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-11-20 Techcrunch: Instead Of Crashing, Bitcoin’s Price Is Slowly Deflating on: November 20, 2013, 08:58:50 PM
IMO, this is exactly why BitCoin hasn't hit primetime yet - volatility. Sure, greater use/adoption might ameliorate this and make it more stable, but it's always going to play second fiddle to the USD or any other mainstream currency for as long as this type of volatility exists.

This is why I "hate" BitCoin, not because I don't see its value once it's massively adopted. Its current rollercoaster trending is making me dizzy.
6  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-11-18 Zero Hedge: Bitcoin-Based Bounty For Bernanke's Assassination on: November 19, 2013, 08:21:51 PM
Just messed up.  We need to expose the idiot doing this.  Just hurting the crypto community and is plain wrong.

No one is really doing this. It's all a ruse. Lies playing on the theater of fear to try to frame the debate and generate a desired response.

Don't fall for it.

not necessarily true. but bernanke is going to be irrelevant by next year
He's retiring?

not really...but people here do have a tendency to talk nonsense.

Makes you wonder if Satoshi Nakamoto (or the group/nation state hiding behind the moniker) is really Japanese at all Smiley

9  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-11-18 Zero Hedge: Bitcoin-Based Bounty For Bernanke's Assassination on: November 18, 2013, 06:10:38 PM
Not only is this fake, I'm betting it's probably created by people who do not want BitCoin to succeed.... Use your imagination.
10  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Buttefly Labs breaking the law? on: July 01, 2013, 10:46:28 PM
Since they have stopped issuing refunds it certainly appears to me (IANAL) they are at least breaking FTC regulations.

Could you provide us with names of people who have ordered, paid, asked for a refund and did not get it? I've ordered a unit from BFL so this keenly interests me.
11  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-21 Could an Inside Sneak Attack on Bitcoin Destroy It? on: May 25, 2013, 03:41:21 AM
If relegating bitcoin to a low cost paypal is going to "destroy" it, then ripple's already done that (aside of the 'small matter' of it being closed source).

the point of bitcoin to everyone who portrays him or herself as "anti-stablishment", "anarcho-libertarian" or whatever moniker you wish to use is that you are able to wield an order of magnitude more anonymous purchasing power than cash, at very large distances... for purposes that require ultimate personal responsibility - the libertarian pipe dream, so to speak.

the problem is, which government partially solves only, people will do -anything- to avoid being held responsible.

last but not least, responsibility outside of a morally imperative context, does not compute.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Im fairly confident the NSA (US Gov) Can 51% Any Coin At Any Time on: May 16, 2013, 01:26:41 AM
LINK TO WIRED ARTICLE: http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/03/ff_nsadatacenter/all/

Im dont have a degree in computer science and couldnt do any calculations even if we had real numbers about just how powerful the NSA's combined hashing power is, but given the scale and rate of development of massively parallel computing power the NSA has developed for code breaking, and given that they employ thousands of the smartest and best programmers and cryptographers in the world, and given that they have an unlimited budget, its seems obvious to me that the US Gov could have the NSA 51% attack any coin at any time. They have machines which make your Avalon look like a Casio watch from 1980.

Sorry for the downer, and hey at least Bitcoins have bounced back a little today. But to me this seems to be by far the biggest threat to Bitcoin and all the altcoins. Sorry if this has been posted or discussed here before, I did a quick search but didnt find much.

"the agency has not finished building at Oak Ridge, nor is it satisfied with breaking the petaflop barrier. Its next goal is to reach exaflop speed, one quintillion (1018) operations a second, and eventually zettaflop (1021) and yottaflop."

I'm going to take a wild guess here and assert that the NSA doesn't give a rat's ass about BitCoin, and most likely, never will.
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox account in the USA has been seized by the DHS? on: May 14, 2013, 09:12:29 PM
Did you add the "seizing" wording to your email or is everyone else getting a different email?

Only thing I did with the email is remove my name.

Scare tactics, they do this all the time.

Well apparently it's working....

Due to recent court orders by the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland seizing the account of Mutum Sigillum LLC (“Mt. Gox”), Dwolla is immediately no longer legally able to service Mutum Sigillum LLC’s account.

As a result if you have not seen funds arrive in your Dwolla account from this merchant then this will not be occurring with Dwolla. You will want to contact Mutum Sigillum LLC (https://mtgox.com/contact-us) to inquire on how to go about withdrawing these funds.

Anyone else seen this? I guess this is the fallout from the Coinlab lawsuit?

what events took place that led up to  this bs.

greed and avoidance of personal responsibility at all cost (at its core)... or you can read the articles notbrain put up for a nice story.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The end of government is rapidly approaching, due to crypto-currency on: March 21, 2013, 10:31:06 PM
even cyborgs have gangs, mafias and government.

crypotcurrencies can't change the nature of carbohydrate based social animals.

thank you for stating this all-too-important truth. the more things change, the more they stay the same, or so they say... human beings, i.e. the ontology of being human has never altered and never will - unless we become something other than human beings. What's more likely is that Bitcoin will initiate a libertarian transformation of our government and get us back to how the original republic used to be, and hopefully drive personal responsibility to its maximum and reduce government interference in our personal lives down to a minimum. I.e. gun ownership will increase, illegal drugs will become legal - things that are happening on a minuscule scale right now will grow by leaps and bounds.

None of this will prevent humans from becoming greedy gluttons, liars, adulterers or even rapists or murderers - which is why government always will exist for as long as human beings exist.

Think of BitCoin as trimming the fat off government and creating a lean government in the final analysis, and increasing personal responsibility/morality in people like nothing else has so far. It's a long way in the making, but once BitCoin is brought into the mainstream and tied to the powerbase - and it will be, that is exactly what's going to happen.
