Not only I don't want to die, but I want to live forever. There are so many things to learn, so many things to experience, so many places to visit, on our planet and beyond, that 100 years are not enough to do it all.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SXC][NSFW] Sexcoin - Sexcoin will soon activate Merged Mining!!! on: November 21, 2018, 01:53:59 PM
There is a problem with the SSL certificate from the website. It expired over two weeks ago. Maybe you should fix that, because it sends a pretty bad image to the average user who sees the error message from the browser.

which website are you referring to?

I was talking about https://sexcoin.info, the website of this project. Apparently the developer saw my message and updated the certificate on the server, I no longer receive the warning message.

I would suggest to upgrade the hosting package as well, because the website is really slow and sometimes doesn't load. Just my 2 cents.

What better way to gather the knowledge of others than by reading books?

When I was younger I enjoyed reading Science-Fiction books (especially Dune series from Frank Herbert and Foundation series from Isaac Asimov). In the past 6-7 years I switched to more non-fiction books, as I try to gather as much knowledge that I can in very unrelated domains. Because reading something outside of your focus are will allow you to broaden your knowledge and maybe find solutions to a problem that you are facing from a completely unrelated field.

Kudos for Dune! Also my favorite, as well as Hyperion.
As for learning source, I don`t quite agree. For modern younger generation visual information may be more effective for education.

You are correct, I have a lot of friends who are avid devours of video content. This is the reason Youtube is the second largest search engine, after Google. But the problem I see with visual education is the feeling of understanding it gives you (see this video for an explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-UvSKe8jW4). You watch a video, feel that you understand the problem and then move over to another video. But without sedimentation of the information, it will not pass the barrier between short-term memory and long-term memory so trying to recall something you saw in a video yesterday or to explain the concepts exposed there will prove difficult.

But reading is a task in itself, it takes time and your brain is hard at work visualizing the information you read. This stuff helps you settle the information better in the long-term memory, because it also involves imagination from your part.

Thanks for the suggestion on Hyperion, I will look it up and add it to my read list.

I have to say that these token specs with a fairly low hardcap are exciting from an investor's point of view. There's lot's of room to grow.

Right now people who bought bitcoin when it had a higher price are only suffering from a *potential* loss. If you chose to sell at this price, then you transform that potential into something concrete and you will incur an *actual* loss.

As Jet Cash said earlier, this is actually good for the ecosystem, because all those speculators who saw bitcoin as a get rich quick scheme are weed out and only those who are actually interested in developing the ecosystem will remain.

And maybe this price drop is for the good, settling the price around $4000, and then sit there for a long time, transforming bitcoin in a store of value, not just a means of payment. And if you look at the fundamentals, with limited supply and market penetration of only 10% (according to some optimistic opinions), there is a strong foundation for secular growth in price.

I like the project, mining in the browser is not new but it could potentially be a popular niche.

12  Other / Off-topic / Re: TOR Browser irrelevent? on: November 20, 2018, 11:33:57 AM
Is TOR better than using a VPN service?

Depends on why you are using them. They are similar, in the sense that they mask your origin to the end server that you are visiting, but they are not the same. With VPN you have to trust the service provider that it doesn't keep a record of your browsing habits that the governments can later subpoena them to hand over. You can also use OpenVPN on a machine you bought with Bitcoin from OVH or Digital Ocean and this will insure additional layer of security.

The main problem with TOR is it's vulnerabilities. Because there are just a few exit nodes, if some malicious actor (let's say, NSA) wants to find you then they can join with a few exit nodes and then find out your real IP. If everyone would have hosted an exit node, then it would have been incredibly difficult to discover you.

Also, because of the small number of exit nodes, the speed over TOR is excruciatingly slow compared to a VPN provider, that usually maxes out your home connection.
13  Other / Off-topic / Re: Could Elon Musk have been wrong about AI? on: November 20, 2018, 11:25:05 AM
Could you provide some links that we could read so that we can have more context about the topic that you are talking about?

There you go pal: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2018-10-22/kai-fu-lee-says-elon-musk-wrong-about-ai-danger-video.
And needless to say that Musk has been an open critic of AI development, yet his Neuralink project is moving forward. Is AI really that bad or is the guy confused?

I think precisely because he is a critic of the AI development he is working on Neuralink. He thinks that, by having a direct connection between brain and computer, we thwart the AI doomsday predictions, because the AI will be an extension of us and we will be in a symbiotic state. This is Elon's way of insuring that AI won't destroy humanity.
14  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Think we Are alone in the Universe? on: November 20, 2018, 11:22:12 AM
If you look at the Math it is impossible for us to be alone in the universe.

Actually impossible no. Just improbable. Looking at the math, the famous Fermi Paradox asks an important question: why aren't we detecting any sign of any other civilization? According to the math, there should be thousands in our own galaxy. But maybe life it's so rare and the conditions that allow it to evolve to become sentient, and then develop technology are so unlikely, that we are the only one. Or at least the first one, there could be others that will appear in the future. Maybe we will be the technological advanced aliens to them.

But as a personal opinion, it will be sad to have all this empty space just for us. And we keep waging wars and murdering one another for something so trivial as money and power.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Addiction to tech treatment on: November 20, 2018, 11:16:54 AM
Anything that provides you pleasure could make you an addict. I think even technology could become addictive.

But unlike TECSHARE, I am not that pessimist. I think we will be able to have a direct interface with computers (see Neuralink and the post Tim Urban made about it on Wait but Why: https://waitbutwhy.com/2017/04/neuralink.html) and this in turn will protect us from AI domination, because we will be interfaced directly with it. Can't wait to experience the abundance such an interface will bring to humanity.
16  Other / Off-topic / Re: Films about cryptocurrency on: November 20, 2018, 11:06:26 AM

This looks promising. Can't wait to see it at the cinema.

There are also some other movies, documentaries to be precise, that I loved. This one is the best until now, from what I have seen: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4654844/
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we Re-Brand Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2018, 10:45:18 AM
I think it is not necessary, change the name? purpose, image or other attribute? I know something that is legend is always consistent in every form from the beginning the product is created, because it is proof of consistency, existence and consumer trust, if it is changed then the result will be obedient, of course bad

I agree, I don't see a need for rebranding Bitcoin. People already heard of it, they somewhat know what it is and how it is used and if they want to learn more they will do it. No need to re-brand it.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobody Buying Cryptocurrency :( on: November 20, 2018, 10:43:51 AM
Believe me, there are people buying. To my surprise, there were two orders executed today, one at $4900 and the other one at $4600. I still have orders for different price points and I can't wait for the price to reach them so I could buy cheaply.

People who really believe in Bitcoin are rejoicing, because they can buy some more at cheap prices. They buy now cheap and they will keep using it throughout, no matter the price. Because they all know WHY bitcoin will eventually succeed.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 💳 KleynBank 💳 on: November 20, 2018, 08:03:02 AM
What is you value-added service that you provide? Why use you and not other competitors? The description on the website is a really long phrase that states everything, but from the rest of the website it's not clear why should we invest in this project and not other projects.
Very important question:) KleynBank  offers new banking tools as well as low fees fast transactions.

Can you provide more info? We already have low fees and fast transactions with other cryptocurrencies, and about banking tools, can you please elaborate? The website and whitepaper are pretty thin on specifics and I would love to see more concrete information.
