1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Something feels off about Kaspa on: May 27, 2024, 06:21:00 AM
I'm back from a long break from altcoins and crypto in general.  During which I was occasionally checking up on BTC news, but didn't really follow anything else.  Recently got back into it after some curiosity.  There is one altcoin that pretty much came out of nowhere that's making a lot of noise. Instantly I'm super skeptical about it after only reading into it very lightly.  Seeing how Bitmain and so many other ASIC makers would suddenly have an ASIC for it (so much quicker than I've seen for any other altcoin).  The coin itself has no utility, it's not any any major exchange, and isn't really that ground breaking, and looks way too 'polished' from a marketing perspective.  I doubt that an ASIC maker would take such a risk on it.  Then, I see the exorbitant price gouging on these ASICS that probably cost no more than a few hundred dollars to make.

I think it's a well thought out scam (for lack of a better word) or what ever you call it.  I highly suspect that some shadow corporate entity, perhaps related to Bitmain is pushing this.  Let me explain my "conspiracy theory"  Wink

- The entity drives/sponsors the development of a new altcoin/blockchain, gathers some open source community support.  Ultimately, the majority development is fully driven by those employed by the entity.  Many 'community' members are actually employees.
- This same entity is developing an ASIC chip behind the scenes very early on, no doubt at the same time of the project's conception.
- The entity sets up multiple new shell companies "to build" ASICs (all based in China of course), that appear to be independent of each other, but are actually owned/operated by the same.
- Once enough people jump on, they announce the ASICs and start selling them.
- However, the entity has already been mining with the ASICs, and suddenly the hash rate rises due to more ASIC's getting turned on.  Yet no one who's pre-ordered has one in possesion.
- The ASIC's go on sale at insanely high prices.
- Meanwhile, the entity continues to turn on more of their own ASICs
- At the same time, the entity is already announcing their next more powerful ASIC, well before anyone received the one they just pre-ordered.

It doesn't take many brain cells to see what's happening.  I doubt any serious crypto mining operator (what they call the "big boys") is investing in Kaspa ASICs.  The insane prices of almost $32k for a machine that costs a few hundred dollars to make just doesn't add up.

This is targeted towards the individual who's got a few ASIC's at home or hosting, also happens to be sitting on some BTC/$$$, and is very easily manipulated by FOMO.  These 'suckers' shell out $32k or more for one or more of these ASIC's, being fooled into believing that 'big boys' are mining Kaspa.  Thinking that Kaspa is somehow this future solution to transactions, crypto, etc.

Bitmain (which I am almost sure) or whoever 'owns' them is somehow related to this, and they are making a killing.

What is worse that they will continue with this and may be open more similar projects in future. It is so easy money and there are so less regulations currently in crypto that it has opened doors fior many types of frauds.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forget Bitcoin - Memecoins Like Pepe, FLOKI and Bonk Are the Big Gainers Now on: May 27, 2024, 06:19:09 AM
The big question is: which memecoin will perform best going forward this year? Could we see Dogecoin reclaim its former glory as the king of memecoins? Or will newcomers like Pepe, FLOKI, WIF and Bonk continue to steal the spotlight? I'll like to hear your views...

Look NORMIE now and see the price.

Forget Bitcoin = NO

The big question is: which memecoin will perform best going forward this year? No one

The winner this year for Alts? ETH

ETH will not have the highest returns among all altcoins. I has bever happened in last 10 years. Every year , there is some new altcoin at number one spot. However, it is hard to spot the coin at early stage. Anyone who can find the winner at early stage can become very rich. But , personally I would stay away from such speculations. Because, there are so many options available and the probability of finding the best performer from these in initial stages to next to zero.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone you introduced to BTC says the risks of her funds is on you on: May 26, 2024, 03:22:03 PM
Bitcoin can not afford to reprogram its potentials values of being a non-custodial currencies hence it is a technological development created by an initiative individual who is known to be Satoshi Nakamoto.

It is a financial system initiated without any sector of the government contributing to the structure neither being slated with any form of authority role in the system of the digital financial system as Bitcoin.
And on no account would the potentialities and nature of Bitcoin would be flexible to be reformed such as to be centralized in other to justify the mistrusts of the people who are in doubt of it with the facts that Satoshi Nakamoto has remained unknown and yet the digital currency is non-custodian.

I made this expressions because just in, a neighbor is f man who has been in good terms in a while now with me  asked if I can recommend him to any way she can Invest, have her funds secured and as much make profits.
So I recommended Bitcoin to her which she acknowledged that she knows a little about it but her fear is that it is not a centralized technology and for that she has always felt insecured on the development.

You can imagine that she told me to give her my words that if anything happens to her funds if invested that I will have to refund her. 😏. That was silly and I felt mad at her.
And right then I clearly told her that I am not trying to introduce her to any of the Ponzi schemes so it is her choice to decide but all I can tell you(her) lastly about this is that your funds will be secured as long you (she) would stick to the terms I have explained to her after explaining the Pros and the Cons to her.

Dear fellas, please I needed to know how you would feel if you were in my position basically where she said I would refund her if her funds gets lost becasue you recommended and introduced her to the system.

I can relate to what she is feeling. There are so many ponzi schemes running in my country that even genuine project like crypto will appear as scam to most people. I do not force anyone to invest because if they make loss, our relation will be spoiled forever. However, I still inform my friends about crypto. Those who can enter the market at correct time and wait for good duration will always make profit. But some friends who are impatient may loose money even though crypro in general is a very useful technology.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Exposure to bitcoin at young age on: May 26, 2024, 03:18:53 PM
Do you think that exposure to bitcoin at an young age is a good thing in general ? I feel it should be taught based on individual personality and not to very young guy. This is because all young guys might not be responsible enough to invest and track with patience at young age. However, those who have the required patience can make very high returns on their investment by investing at an young age. So, which side are you in this aspect ? Do you feel that all young guys should be informed and educated about bitcoin ?
5  Economy / Speculation / Why has bitcoin prices not increased just after halving ? on: April 20, 2024, 01:25:31 PM
Bitcoin mining fees has increased considerably today after halving but there are no effect on bitcoin prices. I suggested some friends to invest before and they are blaming me for the suggestion. I told them to wait for final effect as it can take some days for effect on prices but they are impatient.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upon the death of a bitcoin user. on: March 29, 2024, 04:47:04 AM

There is no how, you must have one or two trusted persons that is secretive which you can rely on for your Bitcoin WILL people you know can never disappoint you,but stand firm by you and your family when you are no more.

Do not trust anyone accept parents and spouse. In some cases , even spouse betrays trust after death so still that is not 100% full proof.
7  Other / Meta / Re: Provision for increasing available merit every year by some amount on: March 29, 2024, 04:44:49 AM
Is there a provision for increasing available merit every year by some amount? This is needed because new members are also joining the forum daily and thus the available merits quantity should be adjusted accordingly.

It sounds like you're saying that inflation is needed for a growing society.  Smiley

I personally don't like the whole merit sources thing but understand that it would get abused if it were fairly distributed to everyone.  I digress...

There is a certain level of inflation built into the system naturally, as people can send merits to others just by earning them (and amounts are raised if all merits are used).  I think your comment assumes that merit doesn't get recycled, but it does and quite heavily among certain subsets of users on these boards.  Due to these fundamentals, I would assume that merit numbers will continue to grow.  The only way it doesn't is if merit sources aren't distributing all their merits, which I am guilty of.

Most of the points you raised in this reply , I agree with. But you did not touch the main issue I raised with reason. That is more members are joining the forum and that is the reason why merits should be increased every year. Do you feel this need is currently being addressed in some other way I am missing ?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Years ago people laughed at me bcz of THIS on: March 21, 2024, 01:38:39 PM
You are corelating two completely unrelated things. The timings is same but covid and bitcoin price movement are not related. Whales did not spend money to spread covid so as to get bitcoins at cheap prices.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank - Safely store your bitcoin on: March 21, 2024, 01:37:07 PM
The most important benefit of bitcoin is that it is not associated with banks and is thus safer for people. They have more control over bitcoin in comparison to fiat which is controlled by banks. What you are suggesting is just opposite of this and thus people will not appreciate this.

There are already exchanges where you can store and trade bitcoins. But I suggest you to use hardware wallets to store bitcoin so that you have full control over it.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Day i have lost my 100 bitcoins on: March 19, 2024, 03:16:00 PM
I am not sorry for your loss. If you are careless with 100 bitcoins which is worth millions at current prices, you deserved to be parted with the money sooner or later. Hope you learn from this in future.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the dip people!!! Could be last chance for prices this low on: March 19, 2024, 03:14:22 PM
Bitcoin is currently undergoing a correction back to the $60,000s. Around $68k now, got down to $66k.

This is the time to buy before the bull run really gets going. This MIGHT be the lowest it gets. While a deeper fall during this correction, or another correction in the near future, is certainly possible, this might also be as low as it gets. After the near future, the only time it might get this low again is in like two years on the next bear market, and these prices may be the bottom of the bear market.

So anyone who has money sitting on the sidelines and who wants to buy Bitcoin, today is gonna likely be one of the lowest days we're gonna see for at least the next 18-24 months, and maybe forever! Buy!

No one can predict if this is the last dip or it can go down much from here.

I think everyone should keep investing based on his capacity and risk taking ability. There is no benefit in trying to time the market. On the other hand, if you keep accumulating regular irrespective of peaks and corrections, you can store a good amount of bitcoin which will be very valuable in long term.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does BTC mean to you? on: March 16, 2024, 01:38:46 PM
Hello, Everyone

I'll keep this short.

What does BTC mean to you?

Some may say freedom others  say hope in a world of restriction, love to hear your responses.

BTC for me is

1) An investment option. Earlier my investment was limited to mutual funds and Fds but now I have included bitcoin and crypto in it as well. So far, it has given me better returns than mutual funds.

2) Payment option: It also acts as a payment option for me. I accept bitcoin from number of clients for the services I provide. There are some clients who prefer to pay me in bitcoin only. I also pay for some services like hosting with the help of bitcoin.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Still Dead? on: March 13, 2024, 02:01:43 PM

Many times I've missed the opportunity of buying Bitcoin dip because of media sentiments. In 2022, when Bitcoin was $17,168.57, which would have been a good time to build a larger holding, some claimed Bitcoin was on the road to irrelevance others said it was dead. I could understand and agree with them because the value of bitcoin had peaked at USD 69,000 in November 2021 before falling to USD 17,000 as at the mid-June 2022.

After that time, the value had fluctuated around USD 20,000. And the same media claimed it was an artificially induced last gasp before the road to irrelevance. It seemed true as the FTX  bust had sent the bitcoin price to well below USD 16,000.

Later in 2023, Forbes headline crushed the confidence of many Bitcoin enthusiasts, saying if ETFs managed by asset managers are too successful, they will completely destroy bitcoin. Other sentiments like Bitcoin has failed on the promise to be a global decentralised digital currency and is still hardly used for legitimate transfers and that the approval of an ETF doesn’t change the fact that Bitcoin is not suitable as means of payment or as an investment.

Yet today, I saw the image above and it suddenly got the question into my head, Is Bitcoin still dead? We've all seen how Bitcoin has weathered through all the critics and FUD to breaking above USD 70,000 steadily since the beginning of 2024. There's all indication it's headed toward USD 100,000. What are you all thinking about these feet.

Should those who didn't buy all along dare to jump in or would you recommend going for ALTs as the rising of Bitcoin often drag along the altcoins. Let me hear your thoughts?

ALTs can also give very good returns but they also come with higher risk. There are chances that you will loose all your capital if you invested in some shit coin and it has happened to many investors so probability is very high.

With Bitcoins, returns will be moderate in short time and exceptional for long term holders. Also, there is stability that you are not going to loose your capital by investing in bitcoin. Support levels are properly held in case of bitcoins.
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might reach $100k before halviing. What is your exit strategy? on: March 13, 2024, 01:59:18 PM
I am into bitcoin for long term now. Will not make the mistake of selling for instant profits like thousands of past investors. Always look for bigger picture and think long term when investing in bitcoin. We may see the price of 1 million per bitcoin in few years and if we exit at $100k , we will be in lot of loss.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive withdrawal of Bitcoin on: March 10, 2024, 08:53:01 AM
Anytime the price of Bitcoin skyrockets, there would be massive selling of Bitcoin and this practice(s) have always lead to the price of Bitcoin falling back afterwards. During the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs, it was observed that the massive selling of Bitcoin when the price got to $48,000 made the price to fall to $38,000, it was after the corrections that the price began to soar higher again till now that it has set a new ATH of about $69,210 and immediately, massive selling and withdrawal of Bitcoin was also noticed.

Wouldn't this continues practice of withdrawing and selling off whenever the price skyrockets going to slow the volatility of Bitcoin to continue skyrocketing? Since the price automatically starts experiencing a dip after every massive withdrawal.

Only the massive withdrawal will not decide the bitcoin price. What happens because of this withdrawal will have a number of effects and everything is interrelated. Like , suppose, there is massive withdrawal of bitcoin which means supply with be more than demand and prices of bitcoin will go down. But as prices of bitcoin goes down, it will appear as an opportunity for other investors and they will start buying bitcoin. So , at that time demand will be more than supply and as a result, price of bitcoin will increase. Also, there are many other factors which can influence the price at the same time.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Are there members here who do monthly investment in bitcoin ? on: March 10, 2024, 08:48:57 AM
Are there members here who do monthly investment in bitcoin irrespective of current prices ? This approach can be really helpful for majority of people like salaried people who get fixed monthly income and can allocate some part of it to bitcoin investment.
17  Other / Meta / Provision for increasing available merit every year by some amount on: March 06, 2024, 06:01:12 AM
Is there a provision for increasing available merit every year by some amount? This is needed because new members are also joining the forum daily and thus the available merits quantity should be adjusted accordingly.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 06, 2024, 05:59:47 AM
There are enough merit sources and merits in circulation for a fair distribution of merit. More merits in circulation would mean more merits in the hands of merit abusers which isn't something we would want to see happening around, do we?

Not true, the merit abusers or spammers are not going to get merits at all as merit sources will never spam spam posts. So, it will be the good posters who will be rewarded if there are more merits in circulation.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forget Bitcoin - Memecoins Like Pepe, FLOKI and Bonk Are the Big Gainers Now on: March 05, 2024, 12:39:25 PM
This is only for short term. In long term, I will still bet only on bitcoin. Bitcoin has a number of advantages over the altcoins. In fact, making a comparison between bitcoin and altcoins is foolish. If there was no bitcoin, these altcoins  would not have even existed. Majority of the new crypto investors start with bitcoin. Some might feel that bitcoin cannot give as high returns as altcoins but there is safety aspect also and bitcoin beats other coins in this aspect.
20  Other / Archival / Re: Are investors investing in Bitcoin at ATH now are fools ? on: March 05, 2024, 12:36:29 PM
The part that many new investors are missing is there is no loss with bitcoin until you sell yours at a lower price than you buy
The most important thing to ensure this is to ensure only extra funds that one can afford to loose. Otherwise, if you are spending your daily needs money on bitcoin and in future there is major correction, you might still need to withdraw for some emergency. But if you are spending extra income only, then this issue will not arise. So you should spend only 10-30% of total income which is left after all the monthly expenses. Moreover, if possible, try to diversify in multiple coins for more safety.
