101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin can learn from early FM radio adoption on: July 21, 2018, 03:10:34 AM
I do not see much relevance here. Bitcoin and RADIO radios are quite different, why compare them to each other? . Thanks!

Your idea will be dismissed by most who are thinking on surface. But if you look carefully, there are a lot of differences.

Let us talk about the nature. One is related to finances and other is for entertainment. There is big difference between the two from the point of view of an average user. For instance, consider an average user on FB or Instagram, he is using these to pass his time and for some fun. But for someone with interest in internet marketing, it is more of a business opportunity. They will see the same platform differently.

102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forget the lambo, I want a seastead on: July 21, 2018, 03:06:01 AM
Whatever our financial goals, we will need to have some patience. The market may move up or down in the short run, but in the long run blockchain will bring transformation and disruption. Investors who think and plan long term will be amply rewarded.

Is it fine to have a liability as a Financial goal ?

Isn't car more like a personal goal ?

I do not much craze for cars though and do not wish to own a lambo. I would be more interested in getting what the rich people desire to get. Yes, I am talking about recognition  and then may be religious goals if I achieve everything.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we change the public's view of Crypto world? on: July 20, 2018, 08:58:06 AM
Just share your experience and earnings with friends and family. Some will be inspired to invest, help them if they face any problem.
104  Economy / Speculation / Re: The rise of bitcoin continues on: July 20, 2018, 08:49:32 AM
I am happy to hear that Goldman Sachs has decided to explore crypto. It shows that the foundation is strong.

In addition, possible alts joining same bounties.

I do not see anything in merit summary ? Can you tell me about how can I get old data  ?
106  Other / Meta / Re: Friends just hacked account in BT on: July 20, 2018, 08:42:51 AM
You can ask your friend to get the account locked by clicking  the email sent to his original email on change of email. Then he can get it unlocked by contacting a mod. Compare which route will take less time.

How can one know this without trying both routes ? Staff can tell better.
107  Other / Meta / Re: Edit: My hacked account was used for merit abuse by this user: bgpsq on: July 20, 2018, 08:40:07 AM
Normally I wouldn't tag somebody like this, because I'd be suspicious that the purpose was to just dump the merit out of spite--not necessarily to give it to a specific person.  However the receiving account used it to rank up, and that's good evidence that it was sent intentionally.  That account might be an alt, but the merit might even have been sold, who knows.

What other factors do you consider before making the final decision  ? Is there some standard guideline to be followed by all DT members ?
108  Other / Meta / Re: How many Posts are limit for a day? on: July 20, 2018, 08:21:08 AM
Are you talking about activity? If so the limit is what you're eligible for. For example if you just started, then the activity limit is 14 on that day. When the next activity time comes, it will be 28. And two weeks after that day, it will be 42 and so on.

He was talking about number of posts allowed in a day and has already got the answer.

Op, you should lock this thread.
109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [for merit] Talk about the Bitcoin port on: July 20, 2018, 08:19:09 AM
I'm a bit surprised no one answered this by now  Cheesy

Ports 0-1023 (inclusive) are restricted ports, reserved for the root user access only. These are for things such as HTTP/HTTPS, email servers, TCP, FTP, etc. where security is much more important.  Essentially if you want to use some other service or do testing for your own server, you use one of the higher number ports. I know that the Node.js default for example, is 3000, as it is for some other web-dev related frameworks too. Bitcoin uses port 8333.

An inbound connection is when another computer connects to your computer/server, while an outbound connection is where your computer is connecting to a different computer or server. If you're running a Bitcoin node for example, you allow inbound connections on port 8333 so that other nodes can connect to you. Similarly, those nodes will allow inbound connections on that port on their computer so you can have an outbound connection to them.

To add to this, opening ports is not compulsory.

However, by opening it, you are providing more connection opportunities to nodes available.
110  Other / Meta / Re: Disable signatures/bounties til a user reaches full member status. on: July 20, 2018, 08:15:01 AM
All signatures should be disabled irrespective of the rank. Let us have some meaningful discussions here then.
111  Other / Meta / Re: Security bounties on: July 20, 2018, 08:09:26 AM
Bullshit offer.
If you are sincere in solving any security breach, you should seek paid professionals.

All big companies like FB, Google take the same route even after they have paid professionals hired full time for this work. Users can be the best judge especially for new features.
112  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestions to improve bitcointalk.org on: July 20, 2018, 08:05:05 AM
The forum would be a much better place if this proposal would be implemented. Especially the limiting of merits. So frustrated to see that abusers got promoted from Jr. to Full member in 2 days with merits that sender didn't even earn but got by default.

Those are mainly alts in my opinions. Someone mentioned that it is low rank members involved in merit abuse the most. But where are those merits coming from ? Basically, those who got merits by default can make new accounts and promote them to higher ranks easily.
113  Other / Meta / Re: Showing I merited 3 people 2 days ago but I never even visited those threads.. on: July 20, 2018, 08:02:42 AM
Many such cases are being reported here. Is there any other hack or some kind of bug affecting the forum ?
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I do not panic when the market falls on: July 19, 2018, 07:49:33 AM
Main reason for panic is that people do not do their research. Thus they get scared with little price movements.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top 3 coins in 2020? on: July 12, 2018, 05:40:43 PM
These will be Bitcoin, ETH and Ripple only. 2 years is very short duration for any other coin to come and take their place.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who will be the new king on: July 12, 2018, 05:24:13 PM
None of he current coins can replace BTC or ETH. May be in future we have some coin with some unique features capable  of doing that.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it risky to buy not top 100 crypto currencies? on: July 12, 2018, 04:26:51 PM
The risk is increase in case of such coins but so is the reward. Choose after proper research and diversify.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no competition on: July 12, 2018, 04:12:04 PM
Other coins can replace bitcoins but it is going to take a lot of time. If we talk only about returns, some coins already give better returns.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How foolish are people who invest in Bitcoin? on: July 12, 2018, 03:50:06 PM
You keep counting these zeroes while I and others make real money ? Now tell who is foolish.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO Could Surpass Bitcoin By The Year 2019 on: June 26, 2018, 02:55:44 PM
That is too optimistic. I have nothing against NEO but it cannot replace bitcoins in next 50 years, leave aside 2019.
