1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New documentary: Bitcoin Revolution in Africa on: May 21, 2020, 01:51:09 PM
It's a good thing to see a documentary on bitcoin revolution in Africa. From what I have seen bitcoin will help Africa grow financially because so many people lost interest in Africa when the credit card scam was recorded to come a lot from African countries. Now bitcoin is here I think people will trust having deals with African's at least we can entrust everything on escrow.

How can it possibly help only Africa ? I think Africa is even behind from early adopters or investors from other continent.

Those who sold their bitcoin for exchange of pizza are not in Africa I guess.
Those who bought at the early stage when price was still in satoshi are not in Africa I guess.
Those who bought when price was just climbing to few hundred of dollars are not in Africa too I guess.

Therefore, Africans are late adopters and even at the moment, I believe Africans who have few bitcoins are those in this forum and maybe acquired from signature campaign (maybe). The real African investors are just getting to know about it or are still preparing to make their minds up to invest in it while price keep moving up (of course it won't wait for nobody).

This means for me, if price stays at what it is and we don't see a new ATH, bitcoin won't help Africa or any other person who buys and only hodls, in expectation of an increase. Because talking about helping or profiting, we have to see a considerable difference in hodling price or cost and actual price at a certain time.

Maybe Africans should hope for a new ATH therefore    Grin

You are not getting it right here they are a lot of early adopter of bitcoin in Africa. Don't forget that Africa is filled with corrupt politicians especially in Nigeria. Most of the politicians from Nigeria bought huge amount of bitcoin as of 2011 I could remember when MMM came to Nigeria a lot of politicians sold their bitcoins to citizens that used that platform. Don't joke with Africans when it's related to money is just that we play low key. Most money laundering in Africa are used to buy bitcoin or sent to swiss bank.

I think true love has something to do with remembrance. Going through your experiences in life, those who cared for you in the past, they are the ones that deserves true love from us. And has nothing to do with gender everybody on earth deserve true love.

5  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat is a Digital currency without Value on: May 21, 2020, 11:48:46 AM
The topic title is seriously misleading "Fiat is a Digital currency without Value".

First of, digital currency was initiated not by any government-controlled central banks so it was not fiat at the beginning of digital currency history.
Second, we should talk about stable coins before moving to digital government-controlled currencies (like what Chinese government want to do recently). Stable coins have their weaknesses because of unclear evidence on how they are backed by solid assets. Governments can freeze stable coins even they are in your own wallets.

On the other hand, they take advantage of stable coin to try launching their centrally controlled digital currencies. Such currencies launched, and controlled by central governments and banks are not truly what the crypto world is looking for. They serve for the benefits of governments only.

I didn't think about the topic being misleading what kind of topic do you suggest for this article maybe I can change them. I have low weight concerning stable coins but I know that they are attached to some assets (Can I also know what the Chinese government is unto?)

Ps: Made some corrections on mis-spelling of words

Just like you said and I have said it before on this forum that a newbie here may not be new to Cryptocurrency, Your post is suspicious because you made it like a pro. I don't know where you learnt that from. But you just have to be careful like anybody else. Always watch out for scam busters they will keep an eye on you. Mind what you do with your other accounts i.e if you have an alt account. Don't keep one decent and the other rough make sure the both accounts abide to the laws or rules of this forum. Avoid negative trusts so that you can qualify for campaigns too and make some bucks Grin
7  Economy / Economics / Fiat is a Digital currency without Value on: May 21, 2020, 11:09:45 AM
Money works as a medium of exchange the currency started 69,000 years ago, people used things of value to trade goods and services. Such as Gold and silver, After the second world war, they were a gathering by the world power to tag the US dollar to the Gold value, countries around the world had their currency trade at the United States dollar value.

What the Government mean by Fiat currency

In the 20th century, President Nixon initiated the fiat currency, a currency that doesn't have its value tagged to Gold or anything of value. So fiat currency means anything that circulates by force, they have the right to call anything of no value money.

Why fiat is a digital currency

Bitcoin is a digital currency, just like the fiat currency has digits all over the bank. When the visa card was established people didn't understand it's usefulness when the Government wanted a cashless community the same as bitcoin just that we need fiat to get bitcoin unless we earn it like other money, today people now use cards to book flights, hotels, etc

Features Fiat share with bitcoin

Irretrievable: Fiat has this feature when you think of fiat outside the bank, For instance, you bought a phone that doesn't work and need your money back, the bank cannot do anything concerning this transaction because you didn't use it digitally.

Fraudulent: Before bitcoin, fiat has been used to perform different kinds of businesses, a few times ago JP Morgan called bitcoin a fraud currency knowing that anything money can be used for fraud too. They are a few reasons why a banker won't like bitcoin those reasons why the Kings don't like democracy.

Truth about bitcoin

Just like in this forum. People whose purpose is learning new knowledge have great benefits. As a beginner that wants to use bitcoin, forget the past of bitcoin were you know that a lot of people made profits from trading bitcoin but focus on the ecosystem of how money works. A world where we can have control over money and activities like elections using the blockchain to have a free and fair election in places like Africa, Asia, America, etc

Challenges of bitcoin

Bitcoin is suffering from being too popular because of the power we have over our money it handles 7 to 10 transactions per second with high transaction fees especially during the bull run like what we see today bitcoin transaction fees are too high. But the lightning network technology will reduce the cost of bitcoin transactions and enable fast transaction time.

The greatest fear of bitcoin users

As we know the interest of our governments on having a cashless community, the same JP morgan called bitcoin fraud is building a digital currency on blockchain JPM coin that will be used in the future with other fiat currencies So my fear is the government taking over the blockchain technology

In conclusion, what will happen if the government takes over the blockchain technology and also the future of the lightning network to bitcoin?

I want to ask at what value is bitcoin attached to just like in this article dollar was tagged to gold and things of value before the Fiat came into existence?

Thanks.

So I decided to take a look at your account.

Your post count and activity count is literally equal. Are you just complaining about the system because you aren't able to rank up due to the merit system? Like 99.9% of the people complaining about the merit system? Stop it with this shit. This has been discussed a hundred times in the past already.

I don't understand what you are saying. You didn't make any point literally regarding the thread. And what it has to do with my post count being equal with my activity. I think you should contribute something related to the article on alexa rank and the merit system. I have been clarified that the forum doesn't care about their Alexa ranking. I am not complaining, I'm sharing my opinion.

Their tutorial is very engaging when going through them. I didn't understand the calculation aspect that is related to private keys. How we can find out that Person A is not fake claiming to be Person C I think its a feature that the bank use to beat bitcoin. But the private key solution is a better Technic to dictate such barriers. Anybody can help out though.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk is not doing well in Alexa rank because of the Merit system on: May 19, 2020, 01:10:48 PM
The sense of the merit system has already been sufficiently discussed in the whole forum and therefore I will not comment on it. But what I am asking myself now is, how important is the Alexa rank and if it is important, how can we increase it?

The alexa rank helps you to know how good your site is performing in bringing traffic, So the importance of Alexa rank is to know if your site is doing well or not within the past 90 days.
But perhaps that is not the main goal of this forum...
When I type "bitcoin forum" in a search engine like duckduckgo, then voila, I get bitcointalk.org as the first entry. With startpage it is the fourth entry. Sounds very good to me.
What would a 1st place at Alexa Traffic do better?

(Alexa Traffic has nothing to do with Alexa from Amazon, does it?)

Sorry I didn't understand your question.

A 1st place at alexa traffic is not the issue at least a better rank on Alexa traffic like in 2018 were we had some good rank around 900. It's all good though hope I passed the right message to this forum. But it is not really important here now I understand.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk is not doing well in Alexa rank because of the Merit system on: May 19, 2020, 01:06:33 PM
what is the actual aim of making the merit system very hard for users? This will scare some away and those who are not good at writing, it means they don't belong here?
<>
The forum is now difficult not only for newbies but for investors who came as newbies and left because they couldn't understand the forum better. I like this section "beginners and guide" but I didn't discover it as a newbie.
<>
I will say that this forum is easy if you have worked hard on it and it's part of you, But very difficult for freshers because of how old members treat them with merit.

The merit system changed one thing!
You can't farm high-rank accounts based only on activity, this, and only this.

You don't need to be legendary, you don't need 500 merits to write on the forum, and you don't even need an account to READ.

The number of visitors dropped because there were no more "bounties" no more earning twice the average wage in your country by posting links. That's all.
The moment you stop paying people for posting, traffic drops, it's normal.

Take a guess which site this is, also crypto-related and with no merit system:

What the merit system has done is actually clearing a lot of shitposting, a lot of useless answers, and made it a place far better for real newbies.

I don't know the site with that ranking on Alexa. I have seen some reasons why this forum may not be interested in their Alexa rank since they have already ranked in the most important keyword "Bitcoin forum" that is a nice work so far.

Your story is very inspiring. The young boy must have been guided by somebody that knows about bitcoin very well. I love seeing such stories even if I'm not part of the story, but I believe they is a glory from being happy for other person's accomplishments.
14  Other / Meta / Re: Imagine bitcointalk.org in 2140 on: May 19, 2020, 11:30:49 AM
This forum will be reserved for the god fathers to access alone and the newbies will be sent to the new developed forum. They can start sharing some great discussion there. Imagine my son in this forum begging me for merits in future lol.

This thread from Reddit made 8 months ago points at the site as Scam https://t.co/ulq1Zq9eID?amp=1 I think they got a new website that replaced the scam site.

A whole lot of information on bitcoin is not certain from this site. This site is where most of those information are being shared for others to read. If you go on twitter they make recent updates on bitcoin which come from the bitcoin community on twitter. They are other websites like cointelegraph.com that share some co-operate information which may interest you. Just read vast not on this site alone.
18  Other / Politics & Society / Re: This is the beginning of the end. on: May 18, 2020, 03:59:40 PM
Those things happen as directed by the government to maintain a healthy environment. I want to ask you if they take records of your temperature like is it written in a paper or stored in a system. Because the government can decide to know people that are infected by this virus through checking their their body temperature. It's just a normal routine that has been place not a while ago since the pandemic started.

I have been seeing a lot of this phrase lately.
Yes, you will be seeing it a lot especially if someone is talking about merit, and it will be a neverending argument and drama in this forum. I think you just need to be passionate about what you want in this forum.

Choose at least 1 or two on how you can contribute, it maybe scam busting, or maybe you want to focus on a technical side (which I prefer), or be a good forum statistician. It's your call. Just be passionate man!

It's my call lol, that's unkind of you man Grin How do you mean statistician? I think I prefer it instead.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk is not doing well in Alexa rank because of the Merit system on: May 18, 2020, 03:20:40 PM

Most of them are unappreciated because they do not actually care nor absorb the replies of the members here. They just ask and leave their thread as if nothing happened.

You're right that it takes a lot of time to learn stuff that is new to our ears, but that doesn't mean that you should be in a hurry in making such lengthy post in which you expect to get a lot of merit, it just doesn't work that way. I don't want to lecture you nor make some hateful post about your stand. Just wanna say that be observant and learn your stuff in a natural way Wink

Try not to focus on getting merits but rather on the knowledge you can get. All you have to do is to read and ask. Most of the answers you will get from this thread will not make any difference.

Hey I am talking to you calmly okay!

Sure they is nothing to be hateful about on my stand. Nobody is taking it personal neither did I write those lengthy words because of merits. I wouldn't have made this post if I am looking for merit from people, I should have praised the forum instead. But I'm pointing out some few things that we need to look into for our own benefits.
