1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bank teller stole $28,000 from customers to feed her gambling addiction on: June 27, 2024, 11:10:14 PM
Quote
In the last two months of her employment, the 28-year-old stole money from four customers, with the thefts only being discovered when one of them queried receiving a letter about money being withdrawn from a dormant account.
TSB Bank teller stole $28,000 from customers to feed her gambling addiction

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?
Oh no! That’s really terrible, really!
Like, how do people manage these debit to credit systems and hope that, they wouldn’t come by some trouble. Even in the event of a win, you’ll still get query to have debit the money in the first place. The customer is sure getting an alert and it goes into history which is questionable. I guess the teller wouldn’t care, after all, they won and have got the money replaced.

This is clearly a don’t. Having to gamble more than you can afford to lose and clearly with money that isn’t yours. Worst of all, she lost this money! I’m guessing it ain’t her first time, having to do this with not just one party but, several other elderly persons, she must have got away with a few, such nerve!
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do feel for an own-goal letting to your bet loss? on: June 27, 2024, 11:03:04 PM
Now bringing this to gamblers of today; how do you feel when the team you bet in favour of lost the game due to an own goal from one of the teammate's?
One thing that is there to understand is that, own goals are a part of the game. It’s an event and one that you can even bet on happening, carries a good odd too but, a difficult market to predict.
When it happens that you lost your bet due to this own goal situation, I’ll just understand that, it wasn’t my lucky day. It’s how gambling works and I’ve got nothing than to move on. Of course I wouldn’t be so pleased with the player in that moment but after then, it’s all good.
I feel pity for them most of all, especially when the team looses the match due to an own goal. It scares you through your career and that goes into history. Mine is just a worthless stake that I would have lost anyway.
For all I know, am gambling again when I can and with odds that is appealing too.
3  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Davido requests for bitcoin on his wedding day. on: June 27, 2024, 10:51:32 PM
Nice. He knows coins that are worth of being assets.

He did not requested for is pumped and dumped token which people also called a memecoin $DAVIDO
Lol… you got it Tim, you nailed this one.
Like, it’s just how these celebrities are and unfortunately, a lot of people follow them on what they say true and true. It ain’t supposed to be so. How do you own a coin (memecoin) of your own but go ahead to promoting or accepting donations in yet another more valued and scares asset like Bitcoin! That tells a lot about these celebrities and how they’ve been able to leverage their young and inexperienced fan base into throwing more money at them over the very little things they do.

Smart move Davido. Talk of a nation that tries to outlaw Bitcoin, you just can’t stop a free people from doing what is in itself marked by freedom and freewill.
4  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Be cautious of your P2P trading in Bybit on: June 27, 2024, 10:43:43 PM
Please when carry out a p2p transaction in bybit, always check reviews and numbers of transactions of the vendor in other to verify his operations and worthiness.
This completely eliminate chances of any new vendor, possibly from another exchanged having to register and create a name for themselves on a new exchange. Well, caution isn’t something you throw to the wind as, it’s indeed true that these government agencies are out to infiltrate systems and make the most of peoples legit way of doing business in the most uncultured way.
Else, how do you receive your coins worth after making payment and you still term the whole process a scam!

@OP, when you say “we” what do you mean? Your like a group that does this kind of transaction or what?

Reviews continues to be some means to create trouble and it’s better to leave it empty. Although, this wasn’t dependent on your end.
5  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin wallet update warning on: June 27, 2024, 10:37:02 PM
I’ve never liked the idea of having to update my wallet. Old versions works just fine to me most times except, there is some obvious news about the update. Besides, what do you need from a wallet rather than have it receive, store and send funds when you need to. Some of the best updates that could happen to a wallet is the ease to having to access functions like fee settings, bump and double spend. Other than these, it’s pretty much not worth it most times for me. Transactions are broadcasted to the blockchain just in the same way and they meet the same challenges so, why bother!

Something I might ask though, funds don’t just get missing without no traces. Perhaps your friend @OP should check if their was any transaction initiated on his behalf from that wallet since he/she supposedly still has it before any conclusion.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Is taxation theft? on: June 25, 2024, 09:03:24 PM
Morals talking time.

Surely a matter of topic that has concerned many philosophers and intellectuals. I imagine most of (genuine) Bitcoiners be like "back-to-the-landers", libertarians, with desire to be self-sufficient. However, objectively speaking, taxation is theft. It's taking someone's property without their consent, and it is compulsory. It very much fits the definition of theft, even though you can find it slightly altered in other sources, like the Cambridge dictionary ("the crime of illegally taking something that belongs to someone else")
It’s hard to comment on this, coming from a country that uses indirect tax in taxation and limits direct taxation to those in the civil service.

Still, I wouldn’t view taxation as legalized theft, not by any context although, I do feel a bit uneasy when you tax an already taxed money but, to whom much is given, much is also expected as the good book of the Christians would say.

When you look at what the tax payers money is been used for, you have little reason to complain over the the process. You’re certainly enjoying a lot from the taxes you pay and that should be something to find comfort in.
Taxation is not theft but, a system to ensure the government purse stays filled to provide the basics for every citizen within the state and run government affairs.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What you need to do if you want to suceed in bitcointalk. on: June 25, 2024, 08:38:17 PM
Don't open a thread asking what you have to do, that's what you have to do.
At this point, I couldn’t just stop laughing! You made my day for sure.

I was hoping to see some thread with lists of does and don’t, just to try to make sense out of nothing but I got the shocker that tells shit to them faces like, “y’all just stupid for asking”. Thanks, lol…

Well, guides are available to aid beginners not find their way out and one way to persist here and have yourself valued for an asset is to ensure you’re discussing. You don’t just kick in with some opinion and leave although, that too is important because, giving your opinion means your ensuring to stay original but, when you discuss on the various topics on here, you do yourself a lot of good.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any other way wallet can be compromised? on: June 25, 2024, 08:33:42 PM
My questions:
Is it possible for airdrop sites to access your funds even after disconnecting your wallet?
Is there any other way wallet can be compromised aside this mistakes?

Your problem is that, you’re under some serious phishing attack by the amount of activities you might have been doing on various sites, getting mixed up with these and that airdrop along with the meme coins and the scams that comes with it.

Your window of compromise could be your device. Although, haven’t linked your wallet to one of these airdrops creates another window of complication. My advice would be that, you dish that device for a new one, create a wallet on the new device, use all appropriate safety types and you would be good.

Also, avoid linking wallets your Bitcoin wallet with any other wallet for airdrops, it’s just not worth it.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it still possible to retire early? on: June 24, 2024, 10:44:45 PM
Most people are afraid to retire early because they think about the future. They are worried about their future.Because without enough savings, early retirement can be life-threatening.
If you still have fear when thinking about the future, of course retiring early is not a good thing, because people who want to retire early already have financial freedom for the future. Therefore, to achieve financial freedom from now on you have to work hard to earn income without investing. Because by investing, someone can retire early because they already have an income, the investment is not only in Bitcoin, but in property and gold.
There are some jobs you do that the retirement plan isn’t entirely up to you, especially when you’re in the civil services. Your retirement follows some design by the government and when that time comes, you don’t get to object. At other times, your boss points you to that retirement plan.
All that doesn’t matter though when you are your own boss, when you run your business as it so pleases you. Retirement though isn’t something you should kick in too early, it doesn’t matter just how much you’ve accumulated in asset and cash. You need to keep going until you can go no more. So long as you’ve still get energy to keep going and accumulating, you shouldn’t retire.
10  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Do Not Pressure Anyone Around You To Invest In Bitcoin. on: June 24, 2024, 10:28:52 PM
Their has never been anytime when an investment is successful when one is forced.
I highly doubt that!
Having to force someone to invest is a bad idea, isn’t something I would advise of anyone but, it doesn’t mean it always goes wrong. Some persons have been advised against their guts to pick up some investing and they did and it came out nice. It’s always a step towards building courage to investing in some fields but, not the best means. I still would t support it either but, I just want to recount that, it doesn’t always ends badly.

When it comes to Bitcoin investment, given it’s volatile nature, it’s a no on persuasion, just something you shouldn’t do given the risk involved.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Helpful approach of impossible seed phrase screenshoting on: June 24, 2024, 10:20:43 PM

These are measures that are put in place for our safety and somehow, it’s been over looked by a lot of users. The programmers to have designed certain wallets in this way is indeed wise as, one cannot be conscious enough on how to handle this photographs as it could easily fall into the wrong hands who knows just exactly what they are looking at.

Having a had copy has always been the best approach but that still is through writing and not photographed. Your phones and CP might seem private to you but I tell you, once in a while, you’ll always let others on it and those are times of potential danger. You’ll be sure to ensure what is private stays private, like your seed phrase.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do this to avoid killing your motivation as a newbie on: June 24, 2024, 10:12:42 PM
We never had issues with any newbies and I have even called out on the tenured users of this forum to be more polite towards newbie but the only humble request I have with newbie in addition to the list of pointers is please do not indulge into shill marketing or marketing scam projects.
I think if the newbies of this time is more concerned about how they are being spoken to by a couple of users own here, they would never learn much on this forum neither would there association skills be any better. All they need is to grow a thick skin and be used to being criticized and there ideas not agreed upon often because, that’s obviously what you’ll find when you’re in a forum such as this. A forum with people from all backgrounds and culture. You wouldn’t expect them to behave and relate the same way. You just learn how to take and take even more, be grateful for the kind words and tolerant of those that aren’t.
It’s the Bitcoin related and cryptocurrency knowledge you need so, filter that.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: June 24, 2024, 10:04:57 PM
I don’t see beauty if there is fraud. It's like boxing in different weight classes or racing in very different cars - someone looks dominant and strong, but the basis of this is fraud and not fair sportsmanship/talent and everything else we love sports for.
By the way, if you look at City’s results in European competition, they are quite ridiculous compared to their resources - one title in so many years. Liverpool is better. Chelsea are equal. And if you compare with Real, City is just like everyone else.
Lol… one title so many times, it really is that. They’ve just got one team that ends it all for them when it comes to the UCL, until they figure out a way to beat Real Madrid, it seems the UCL trophy would be ever far from them still.

But yeah, a game guided by fraud isn’t worth anyone’s time, not a minute or even having to bet on. It’s already over before it starts and there ain’t any entertainment about it. Just a show that would produce nothing. I wonder how some people would manage to enjoy games like these, knowing that it was fixed.

15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the most reliable way of earning Bitcoin on: June 23, 2024, 11:46:02 PM
Asking what’s the most reliable way it’s almost hoping you could get it for free. Well, even in the genesis age of Bitcoin, it was never for free. Of course there are a couple of sites that required if you to do a fee tasks and get Bitcoin rewards and that’s far from the case now. Miners do solve complex arithmetics to earn Bitcoins but, that’s very much demanding and requires a lot of resourcefulness.

Having your stable income or job and buying Bitcoin through that.
That’s it, although it doesn’t end at just having to buy. It follows same principle as money. You can either get paid in Bitcoins either by working with a firm that uses this for a payment media or you can offer some services that you could be paid for in Bitcoin. A couple of them exists on the Bitcoin service board and you can look up for others online.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: business ideas related to or involving Bitcoin on: June 23, 2024, 11:36:47 PM
I'm aware that I could simply offer Bitcoin as a payment alternative... Of course, I would do that as well, but I'm looking for something with a bit more connection to Bitcoin.
When you say a bit more connection to Bitcoin, I would remind you to first and foremost view Bitcoin for a currency as that is indeed what it is. Any attributes or things you could do with your fiat, it’s applicable to Bitcoin as well, just ensure you have a retrieval strategy as, it isn’t like fiat and leaves no room for mistakes.

That means, you either get to buy and hodl, trade it, loan it, accept it for a means of payment and a couple other uses out there. It doesn’t get much better than that. You should ensure you do proper research of your own while using the information you gather from others for guides.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: June 23, 2024, 11:26:19 PM
Indeed, in terms of fixed match it's something that very limited and the possibilities is too small for someone to gain access and the chance of getting scam is more prone, better to depend on your own analysis as you mentioned, I guess that's something that you can developed along the way, it's gambling and no one can assure us if what will happen next.
It often sounds weird to me when I hear of games being fixed. Although I understand the fact that, it’s very possible in some bottom division leagues where the moderation is a bit slacked but almost never in the pro leagues. The result if caught would end very badly for parties involved and even the club.
I wouldn’t depend on anyone for predictions even for a potential claim on fixed games. For all I know, you’re still subjected to luck as, everything is decided right there on the field of play and one can easily lose or win. It’s the rule I want to play by and nothing else. When you understand that you don’t have to win on every prediction, then professional predictions wouldn’t mean nothing to you.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: June 23, 2024, 11:19:27 PM
But then, before the Chelsea job, he has been a bad manager I must say as he wasn't able to win a single trophy with Tottenham Hotspur, most especially in the Premier League Competition.

Chelsea right now has a good and sound coach, we'll see what has to be done.
That we could agree on @Pochettino not to have been some of the league’s finest before the Chelsea job but somehow, managed to get a deal and didn’t do good with it. He might have come to some good in the least games and managed to get the team into a top 6 but, it wasn’t enough to help him keep the job.

Chelsea might have got whom we might regard for a good coach right now but all that would come in based on how his able to transform this team to winning ways. A lot need to be done on the players and getting them to play as a team.

I don't think Arsenal's opportunity right now is much worse (if at all worse) than Liverpool, United or Chelsea's. The other teams aren't even close due to sustainable financial development rules. For example, Newcastle cannot pour millions into the club even though they have money. Arsenal gains more points every season than in the previous season, that is, they are obviously progressing, but it is not clear whether this natural progress will be enough to surpass the cheating City.
Cheating Manchester City… well we could say that but then, we can’t neglect the brilliance in the team, they are just good at winning when they want to and with a manager like Pep, it’s hard not to want to.
I wouldn’t measure Arsenal with either of those teams, Chelsea and Liverpool. Arsenal is just way up the scale.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: June 23, 2024, 11:02:34 PM
That’s what I just said. What I wanted to say is having one important or star player in the team is not going to be enough if he is unable to have good chemistry with other players and the other players also fail to understand what he wants to do. that’s probably something along the lines of what happened with Benzema in the Saudi pro league. People also should not forget that he was infamous for missing very easy chances when he was in Real Madrid. And the season in which he was able to win the Ballon d’Or, I will say he was pretty lucky.
When you’re a star man and you’re playing with some other average guys, one of the two either happens. You either become the very best or you flop. It’s like a psychological thing where your brain works to level you along with the other guys as you don’t feel threatened or you’re not in so much competition.
With that been said, being one man in the sea of others doesn’t always help much, even when you’ve got a couple of other guys for support. Even Al Nasr with the likes of Sadio, Ronaldo and a couple of other elite guys couldn’t win the kings trophy. You would expect them to win it easily but no, that didn’t happen. They went ahead to win on their individual brilliance but not the trophy. The psychology games on you!

One thing is admirable though, the Saudi league is gradually coming to be and you’ve got one guy to thank for it, Ronaldo.
20  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Always verify if an exchange do still have NGN P2P feature before sending funds on: June 22, 2024, 11:22:33 PM
Before sending funds to trade on your centralized exchange, always check at immediate time If the exchange still allows NGN (#) P2P because the way naira is been scrapped off from the P2P feature is overwhelming.

Ignorant to do this verification before sending funds  from your self-custodial wallets to the exchange wallets will always cost you excess expenses on transaction fees from an exchange to another before you could realize yourself and call it mistakes.
It’s often the case when we get too used to a CEX and find it to be more appealing, completely localize ourselves to that effect that, we tend to think it would always be the case as previous each time we want to trade on that CEX.
For the most part, these exchanges do send mails so long as you have your email verified and activated notifications. Your most likely to get notified of any updates as it happens but, not so many keeps a keen eye on the mails that comes pouring in their inbox which makes, having to do certain verifications like, services offered and address check and notifications a necessity to avoid errors.
