1  Other / Meta / Re: My Question? on: June 28, 2024, 01:26:27 PM
It could be amnesia but aren’t you the one who created this topic last year? It makes no sense that you would be asking this sort of question at this stage where you can no longer be considered a newbie. You can use the forum search engine to find whatever information you need to know about the forum history.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Helpful approach of impossible seed phrase screenshoting on: June 28, 2024, 01:05:04 PM
There are some wallets where you can't screenshot the wallet's seed phrase if you want. I can mention Trust Wallet as one of them. To keep this wallet safe and secure, no user can save the seed phrase of this wallet as a screenshot.
When I first started out in crypto, you could screenshot your private keys on Trust wallet. New users wouldn’t know but Trust wallet only implemented this feature a few years ago. I don’t like Trust wallet because they are close-source and I believe that is because of their affiliation with Binance which is a centralized exchange.

Maybe google drive and have to backup manually. Or you can write it down somewhere in print form.
Don’t give bad advice to newbies. Google drive or email are bad storage methods for your private keys. If you do not want to risk losing coins, do not save your seed phrase online.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quit the doubt, it's not too late for Bitcoin investment. on: June 23, 2024, 09:34:23 AM
If you look at Satoshi's vision today, Bitcoin is different. Bitcoin is not a means of transaction without a 3rd party but a means of investment and this is very far from Satoshi's vision.
We have discussed this multiple times yet the question still lingers on “are we using Bitcoin the way Satoshi intended?” Well Satoshi’s intention for creating Bitcoin was well documented in the Bitcoin whitepaper and every other discussion Satoshi had on the Bitcoin forum.

With all due respect to Satoshi, I believe he has done his part and entrusted the rest to us. We can decide what Bitcoin should be - an asset, commodity, store of value or payment method. In my opinion, Bitcoin is whatever the Bitcoin community agrees it is.

PS: What link do I use to reply to a specific message from a member?

The Quote button enables you respond to multiple users in a single post. I made a two step guide on how to quote properly below:

  • Go to the post of the member you want to reply. Click Quote

  • Move your mouse pointer to the position right after the “[/quote]” and type your reply

6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: Worldcup qualifiers - CAF. on: May 23, 2024, 09:22:55 AM
Which African footballer do you think is most likely to win the next award for the best African player of the year?
Whether it is Ademola Lookman or Victor Boniface, my joy is that a Nigerian footballer will be wining the award. Nigerians are proud of Lookman and you can see their excitement on X. We have a new weapon in our arsenal we can use to banter Ghana and other African teams.

It will be good if you can dm OP to make a voting poll, I don’t know if that can be done at this point.

8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 23, 2024, 08:19:12 AM
Pep Guardiola is farming the premier league successfully. All the top teams in the EPL have lost their confidence and do not see themselves competing at a equal level with Manchester City. Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool (adding Liverpool to the list because I know they are going to be in big trouble next season if they cannot find a manager as good as Klopp) are struggling to keep their heads above water.

Don’t encourage conversations with scammers because that’s how it starts. When your cousin sends his wallet address, the scammers will check the wallet transactions on the blockchain and get an idea of how much they can skim off him. Then they will probably send a document of his wallet blockchain records making themselves look like technical professionals. They will then ask for a fee to recover the lost bitcoins because they have proved to you that they know where they are, your cousin might fall for the scam if he’s not aware that anyone can do that using bitcoin block explorers.
10  Economy / Services / Re: [CLOSED] BestChange Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: May 20, 2024, 08:00:26 AM
BestChange was not always the highest paying campaign on the forum but it was recognized as the campion with the most reputable and quality posters. Getting accepted into the BestChange was a big deal and I remember how the manager took his time to vet the applications. For me, it was like the BTT awards before the BTT awards. It’s sad to see one of the oldest running campaigns come to an end. I wish you the best in your new journey, wherever you go, just know that you have a solid reputation on Bitcointalk.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake curse strikes again, rapper loses on Fury, Usyk bet on: May 19, 2024, 08:11:26 PM
This is nothing new, Drake is always losing his bets. 6 god can’t see the future  Grin I feel sorry for the millions of Drake followers who probably made the same bet because their idol did so. No wonder everyone hates the Grahams. I suggest whenever Drake posts his bet slip on his socials, his followers just go against whatever bet he made. That way you are sure to win.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Learning by myself on: May 17, 2024, 07:24:48 AM
You may feel betrayed but this is the best approach to learning, do it yourself. Fail, make mistakes and learn from them. You stagnated your own learning process because you were waiting for a friend to mentor you when in fact you needed was right here on the forum. The most important question you should ask yourself is why are you here. Is it to learn about bitcoin? If it is, you should not wait until your friend’s approval before doing what you want. It’s been two years since you registered this account, have you bought bitcoin since then or are you also waiting for your friend?

I have been in this forum for a relatively long time and during this time I have never used the members button. I always use ninjastic.space to search for forum accounts. It’s well detailed and has all the information you can possibly need.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake website on: May 13, 2024, 10:31:03 AM
Even if a scammer (assuming the account has not been tagged) is the first to reply to the thread, it would be of no consequence because surely the OP should be smart enough to get a response from multiple users before deciding on what to do.
You're assuming everyone is smart enough to know steps to take to prevent themselves from getting scammed. That's not the reality, I have seen people fall for less obvious scams, some even take advice they get in their dms where no one else can chime in.

My initial advice holds true, don't trust, verify.
That is true, people are more gullible than they like to think. We cannot control what goes on in the dms, this is always the case whenever a newbie asks a question on an open platform. Scammers see this as an open invitation, this is why it is important for beginners to cultivate a habit of skepticism and being suspicious of dms they receive from strangers on the internet.

But I want to add actually if this person has been in the forum, he can take advantage of this discussion forum to provide validation of that website. Although it takes a little time, but I feel confident this forum will give an honest answer.
Do not trust anyone.
This is a forum crawling with scammers just like the rest of the Internet. There are a lot of willing, honest members but there's no guarantee that they'll be the first to comment to an inquiry and enough time could have passed for someone to log into the wrong website and they steal their log in details and breach their accounts.

Always validate information yourself as much as you can.
Even if a scammer (assuming the account has not been tagged) is the first to reply to the thread, it would be of no consequence because surely the OP should be smart enough to get a response from multiple users before deciding on what to do. As long as the thread remains open, other members would give their own opinions and openly tackle the scammer. Even though scam is not moderated, the community members have zero tolerance for scam and would never let it happen.

In a couple of minutes, Arsenal will be facing Manchester United. I’m rooting for Manchester United to win not because I’m a United supporter but because I don’t want to see Arsenal win the premier league. My friends who are Arsenal supporters are already bragging about their success this season, I don’t want them to have more bragging power. Manchester United are not in the best of forms still I’m hoping they can deny Arsenal the points  in this game.

No. I think Arsenal will win that game. I was also watching the live broadcast and currently both teams are playing evenly. Arsenal has motivation to maintain their chances of winning the Primeire League title.
Arsenal was lucky today, Manchester United was the better side in the match but disappointingly they lost. If United had a managed to score the first goal, the result would have been different. It’s not easy to fight to the end, I have to give Arsenal that but Manchester City are going to win the league.

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake website on: May 12, 2024, 01:50:34 PM

My question is that how can someone dictate a fake website? because is getting too much, is there anyway the comonas need to know things like this if there is any.
Back when I was still active on telegram, I saw a lot of scam groups and fake websites. I made it a point to expose these scam websites. These are some points you should pay attention to be able to spot a scam site;
• Look for grammar errors - scammers usually make typos in their website information.
• Unrealistic returns of investment - if it’s too good to be true, it’s a scam.
• Website about information - scammers cannot help but be ingenuous. Their about profile is usually copied from another website. Also check their team, if you can google the pictures of their supposed team you will find these people are not in the crypto business irl.
• How long the site claim to be in existence vs how long the sites has been in existence according to scamadviser.com
• Search the url on https://www.bitcoinabuse.com
