3  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What about the "electrical ceiling" ? on: May 28, 2011, 01:25:04 PM
How high can the difficulty go before people mining in their house can no longer add any more machines because of physical space restrictions and overloaded electrical systems stop your ability to keep up with difficulty increases ?

Most new homes have 150-200amps from the street.  Of course this can be serviced by an electrical and the amperage increased though addition of new panels and the gauge of copper running from the street to the house.  150 amps at 120 volts will get you 18,000 watts.  Most circuit breakers are 15 amps.  To be safe each circuit breaker should support 1,800 watts at 15amps.  You can buy higher amperage circuit breakers.  But it doesn't seem very safe to run more than 1,800 watts on 1 circuit.  Distribute your rigs if you can.  Most rooms are usually on one circuit.  With older homes there can be severe electrical limitations.  It'd best to consult an electrician if you're having electrical problems.

That's 150-200amps at 230 volts from the street for 36,000 watts @ 150amps
20 amp breakers are more normal for branch circuits and plugs
newer homes will have at least a two circuits per room and one or 2 outlets on each wall
two circuits are so if one breaker pops you still can have an active lamp
20 amp breakers will trip at 20amps thats a max number not for a constant load
continuous load rating is considered 80% (16amps for a 20amp breaker)
By all means consult an electician any existing wiring may or may not handle larger breakers
4  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Will bitcoin computation power eventually rest in the hands of a few? on: May 27, 2011, 09:47:20 PM
Short answer yes
I wrote a long answer And it was lost

those that can afford will keep doing
hobbyists like me can't afford to live & mine
ya I made a few bucks
no where near my equipment costs
5  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hobbyist miners forced out today? on: May 27, 2011, 09:21:40 PM
If anything i'd worry more about "hobbyist" miners making it impossible for truly large scale and professional mining (as long as it's GPU based) to be profitable.
That's a stupid statement
serious miners .. large scale are just that large
what a hobbyist does,  does not even count on the large scale
I'm a hobbyist My fraction of a coin don't mean SHIT
6  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Calculating heat generated. on: May 27, 2011, 09:11:43 PM
I see that there are spreadsheets for calculating the BTC/Electricity to determine profitability. I live in the Southern US where it gets very hot in the summertime. I will also need A/C to vent out the heat from the GPU/CPU cooling system. Any idea on how much heat is emitted in terms of BTUs?

btu's are heat
every Watt used per hr is 3.414btu per hr
the heat has to go somewhere... you can't cool something with warmer air

7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I manage 10,000+ computers, how to mining ? on: May 27, 2011, 09:01:13 PM
CPU mining = No, electricity will cost much more than the BTC you make.
NVIDIA mining = No, electricity will cost about the same as the BTC you make.
AMD/ATI mining = Maybe

Anyone that can post -- yes
intelligent answers -- maybe
people that just have to say NOTHING just to post -- almost everyone

even though they have posted thousands of times proves NOTHING
I appreciate humor  where was it "error" -- oh I guess the name says it all

Is this supposed to have meaning?

Didn't think you would get it
It's like your posts NO POINT

14  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (450Ghash/s) on: May 26, 2011, 09:10:39 PM
Without longpole us little miners are dead in the water

Why? Long polling does not affect mining profit so much. Of course it improve stale rate a bit, but mostly it is performance optimization on pool side...

On the other side, I don't understand why (with current difficulty) is somebody still mining with CPU Smiley

hashing bad getworks is a loss ... quiting too soon just to get another getwork is a waste

as to Why I'm still using cpu's  .. there free and still work
15  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [MINER] Phoenix - New efficient, fast, modular miner **BFI_INT support!** on: May 26, 2011, 09:05:43 PM

i didnt exactly know what you ment but i thought you ment i might of been mining with other software so i said i definately wasnt

New Version 1.01:
*Made it that only one instance of the program can be active
* add option for  not idle args
* add a option to choose when to active the program idle/non idle/ idle & not idle/ never
* add option to run after X seconds since startup

Because there are so many option , I will be happy if someone can find a bug or something...
Very hard to test every thing...
