101  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) CLOSED AND COMPLETED! on: June 01, 2013, 03:17:25 PM
My tracking now says that my package will get here Monday.  Smiley
102  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 31, 2013, 06:27:42 PM
Final thought on it is arklan did a great job I got what I paid and he was upfront about getting extras, if people feel jaded by this arklans reasonable and im sure he'll make a good decision even though per the terms he shouldn't have too.

Agreed.  When I ordered I had no idea that extras would be sent for warranty purposes, and I'm fine with arklan keeping them (and issuing them out for warranty purposes as needed).  As I am getting exactly what I expected to get, I look at any he gets to keep after the warranty period as a bonus for him doing a good job running the group buy.
103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: May 31, 2013, 03:55:24 AM
Let's see if we can ID everything else in that photo:

1. eMachines keyboard
2. APC UPS, probably a BR1500 or BR1200 unit
3. D-Link switch in the background
4. can't tell ... Belkin or APC surge suppressor?

But I digress. Excuse me while I "take matters into my own hands" as I look at this hashing pr0n

You missed the Apple AirPort Extreme.  Wink

Awesome setup Xian.  I actually think I was looking at those exact USB fans on Amazon the other day.  Is that the "Arctic Breeze" ones?
104  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA - profitability vs effeciency? on: May 30, 2013, 10:54:16 PM

The math still doesn't work in FPGA's favor at that price. In order for the math to work, FPGAs need to be $200-$300ish for a ~400m/h unit...

Which is within the realm of what the Blackarrow Lancelot FPGAs are going for ($269 - $350).  I agree with you though, a lot of the FPGAs that are being sold are grossly overpriced - like I can't understand buying the ModMiner for over $1000, when two Lancelots will give the same or better hash rate for less.  Heck, you could get four Lancelots (if you buy on the group manufacturing deal) for about the same price as one ModMiner, and you would have 1.6 GH/s.

Once ASICs begin shipping in mass quantities though, there will be no reason to purchase FPGAs any longer.  Right now, I think they can still be (mildly) profitable.
105  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: One hub to rule them all ... on: May 30, 2013, 08:12:52 PM
Anyone find a suitable USB hub that is powered and has enough spacing to allow for adequate cooling?

I found this one but the power supply only provides 2A @ 5V, meaning if each port pulls 500mA you'd only have enough power to run 4 USB Block Eruptors:
http://www.satechi.net/index.php/satechi-12-port-usb-hub-with-power-adapter-2-control-switches

Also saw this one, but could find no details as to its power supply specs:

Last this one, but the side ports don't seem useable. Also, no power supply specs either:
http://www.digitalinnovations.com/connect-charge-7-port-hub.html

I'm going to use an Anker 10 port hub.  4A @ 12V.  They make good quality stuff.

I got a 6000mah usb battery from "Anker" with a integrated flashlight, which died after 3-4 months of usage. (battery is fine, just the flashlight isn`t working anymore)
On these grounds i wouldn't stick my usb miners into a very cheap usb hub.

Ah, okay, let me change that.  I've found they make good quality hubs.  I haven't had any issues with their hubs, and I haven't ever used any of their other products.
106  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 30, 2013, 04:26:30 PM
4 hours later,  all domestics  are shipped. I actually watched the postal guy pick them up.

I got my tracking number, but since the USPS web site is not showing any information, can you share what shipping method these went out as (Priority Mail vs standard "First Class" mail, etc).  And did you ship them with a required signature, etc?  Just trying to guesstimate which day they might arrive and if I need to have someone stay home that day...

Mine is now tracking - my package went out USPS First Class Package.  Was hoping they would go Priority, but it will get here when it gets here.  I'd guess Monday or Tuesday.
107  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Should I sell my Jalapeno? Seems to be working fine, but... on: May 29, 2013, 08:39:27 PM

(Couldn't resist.)

Is it me, or something is not right with one of those Jalapeno shadows?  Huh

It's just you.
108  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 29, 2013, 06:56:46 PM
my USB hub doesnt have a wall adapter. in gonna need a hub with more posts anyways. does anybody know one that has around 30-50 ports?

Ah, there's your problem.  These definitely will need to be in powered hubs.

You won't likely find a hub with enough power and ports to power ALL of those without spending a fortune.  You'd probably do better buying several of the Anker 10 port hubs (4A @ 12V) for about $50 each.

Here's the hub I'm talking about at Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/AnkerŪ-Uspeed-10-Port-Adapter-Chipset/dp/B005NGQWL2/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1369853936&sr=8-9&keywords=Anker+hub
109  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now available: Lancelot (Heavy Duty 400 Mega hashes, 2 x FPGA Mining Board) on: May 29, 2013, 06:28:58 PM
Please note that due to a minor issue with a gorilla ravaging our city, we have to delay the shipments. Our best planes are working on it.

Dear Customers,

We are happy to announce that the gorilla issue has been resolved in time and we've shipped all our remaining orders from this batch today.

Hooray!  Cool Glad you got that gorilla taken care of.

Hey TAT, I had reinvest checked, not sure if that means it will automatically reinvest the divs or not.  If it turns out that you can't reverse it, just let me know and I'll shoot the div back to whatever address you specify.  Definitely don't want to double dip on you.

Friedcat for President!

Woohoo!

ok guys. that's it. ALL the packing is done. now i just gotta spend a few hours at office depot and find an effcient way to get the international ones dealt with. the post office is just hell here, so i'm trying to avoid that like the plague... if office depot maintains their "we can't do international" then i'll go find a fedex office.

obviously, it being 6:30 am, there's nothing i can do until they open at ten.

Awesome, thanks arklan - I know this has been a lot of work.
114  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter client (Win/Linux/Mac, NEW: BFL and Icarus FPGAs supported) on: May 29, 2013, 12:27:39 PM
Is ASICMiner's USB erupter supported?

BitMinter's UI and ease of use would be perfect for a new miner with an inexpensive USB miner to get started.

I plan to gift some to family and friends to spread interest in Bitcoin, and BitMinter would be perfect as a headache-free way to get someone started.

I just tested with an ASICminer USB erupter on OS X.  Does not work.

I don't have my USB Erupter yet, so haven't been able to test, but did you try installing this OS X driver and then running Bitminter again?

Awesome that you've already recieved it Canary!  Good work Arklan.

Now ship mine! Wink
117  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB on: May 27, 2013, 06:57:29 PM
Without an adapter, you cannot plug USB 1.1/2.0 devices into USB 3.0 ports.

LOLWUT ?!

Looks like I've been doing this wrong all this time!  I better go an disconnect all my USB 2.0 devices that are plugged into USB 3.0 ports!   Shocked

Edit:  just saw Luke's post while I was responding.  No harm, no foul.  Wink
118  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 27, 2013, 06:47:49 PM
... The monoprice has 4A@5V power supply. ...
Look at of the images, it has a picture of the power supply.

I guess it'll all come down to the dimensions of the USB Eruptors.

If they are thin enough to leave a sufficient gap between them on a given 'inline' USB hub, then a single 120mm fan running at low speed would suffice to keep them cool enough.

Why not try some very short usb extender cables?  It won't look as nice, but would allow you to space them out more.
119  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 26, 2013, 07:36:25 PM

why are you claiming they are in hand, when you dont have them?

i hate liers and cheats, this bitcoin community has too many.

Seriously?  So is every dropshipper on eBay also a liar and a cheat?  You must hate eBay then...

Things are sold online all the time as "in stock" that are dropshipped.  They are "in stock" at the dropship warehouse, not with the person selling it.  As long as they can deliver in the specified timeframe, what's the problem?
120  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 26, 2013, 07:34:01 PM

610!?

also - guys with 10 or more: it's been brought to my attention that one such order got priority shipping, not express. i'm thinking that, despite my instructions, the office depot worker screwed up. if you guys could check to see if this is the case for you and let me know, i'd appreciate it. i'll figure out some sort of compensation if it's the case. probably a btc refund.

actually up to $820 now... REEEEEEEEDICULOUS!

well, you certainly are making out like a bandit... well done. Cheesy

Looks like I should have bought 20 of them!  Shocked
