101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Confirmations very slow at 01:00~03:00 UTC on: July 16, 2013, 11:25:26 PM
Do your transactions include fees?  Zero fee transactions are not relayed by bitcoin clients if the memory pool is filled with free transactions.  I personally set my bitcoin.conf settings for free transactions to a low level to discourage free riding.

Since Mt.Gox is known to never pay fees, the effect you are seeing is likely the result of Gox (and others) triggering automated house keeping transactions at the start of each day.

Right now, I have the following settings...

limitfreerelay = 5
blockprioritysize= 1000

I usually add the fee recommended by Bitcoin-Qt.

Could you please recommend me where can I read more about fee settings and fees?

Sometimes faster.
Sometimes slower.
You don't have to worry about the exact time for transactions every time.
The most important thing is these transactions are finally confirmed.   Grin

True too.

Use coinfaucets.tk Smiley

Will make more than mining without the hassle of buying the stupid stick.

Or buy a Radeon HD 5970.

Gives as much MH/s as the stick, but can be used for gaming when you are tired of mining depressively small BTC amounts with it.

Nope, I'm covering that on my own. Smiley Again, just waiting for a solid $100.

Cool! Thanks.

You could install Little Snitch and forget about the firewall. It costs some money but is totally worth it. It allows you to fine-grain network access of any application or daemon very precisely.
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Confirmations very slow at 01:00~03:00 UTC on: July 16, 2013, 01:10:53 PM
I have noticed that whenever I commit transactions when the time of day is around 01:00~03:00 UTC (like now), the confirmation times are really slow, sometimes 20 minutes until first confirmation.

Does anyone encounter similar behaviour?

What could be the reason? Most miners are European and turn off their ASICs before going to sleep?

Just curious. Until downloading blocks around 90000~100000 the client was really unresponsive, but then no longer so.

On our shares list there is a guy with 20 shares *RESERVED. Does that mean we have to wait until he pays even if BTC reaches $100?
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 16, 2013, 11:14:08 AM
My wife cut me off now after I spent $1,400 on domain names nobody cares about and $4,000 on BFL rigs I haven't seen even one yet, paying to launch a coin I got shit on for, spending with no joke 12-16 hours per day on here instead of with my wife and kids and blowing though our savings on a theory that the govt is gonna push alt coins through the stratosphere. That argument worked wonders the first 2 months while now I now have to sell my 93 ford F150 with a new dealer install engine which cost $4,000 and new $1,000 tires ( I have receipts for it all, but I shouldn't have to sell a classic for alt coin tneories).  Chasis has 154,000 miles, its a true classic with the new engine and new tires maybe 10,000 miles.  I don't want to sell it but I've got little small ticket items to part with.

That truck is a steal at $5,000.  I couldn't find even 1 with a new engine in the whole US.  I love that truck but I believe in the future of this alt coin so much that I can't sit and stay and watch anymore.  I can't do it.  I wish I were a woman cause I may be tempted to sell like massages - you know, nothing dirty, just the queen of tease.  I know it's wrong but I believe in this that much.

This clearly shows that for reasons unknown, your education and your wonderful talent of an economist don’t really bring any positive results. Maybe you should give up all ideas of get rich quick schemes and find a decent job?
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 16, 2013, 11:07:49 AM
Can you please enlighten us about the amazingly unique and innovative features you wanted to implement on your unique and innovative scrypt coin?

Have not you heard about Vlad’s Golden Blocks which are ultimately unique and different from superblocks because they have “Vlad” in their name?
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 16, 2013, 02:48:42 AM
So don't blame me for bringing something new, a new perspective and a new type of coin, blame the misrepresentation of your local programmers who obviously can't program and I had no way of knowing that until it was too late.

Maybe I am indeed a halfwit, but I cannot see anything new. The type of your coin is PoW only scrypt based coin, just like LTC. The superblocks are not an innovation. That you did not bother to look at other altcoins for long enough and rediscovered a wheel does not make your idea new and creative. And with your failure to understand basic probability your pathetic “Vlad golden blocks” even do not benefit small miners as you wished them to.

And remember, I'm unemployed and broke, imagine what I would do to make this coin the best if I had real money like I once used to.

Ah. That would explain the hasty attempts to create a scamcoin.

I am the only economist who has been saying for the last 3 months the masses are coming to crypto-coins.  I'm the only economist who has said from day one Bitcoin will get its ETF license and then within months the media would spin shit into gold taking bitcoin and all alt coins into mainstream.

And being such a talented economist you did not think of anything better than unoriginal get rich quick scam. Shame on you, really. Famous Russian scammer Mr. Mavrodi does better than you Smiley

有时候两个block会同时挖到,在这样的情况下一个block上再计算下一个block,它就进去blockchain,而另一个就是孤儿了,白挖的。
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 16, 2013, 12:20:55 AM
The guy is a financist. He probably heard somewhere that “the masses are coming to alt coins soon” and decided that he can get ahead of the train by creating a scamcoin as soon as possible. He started to look for original ideas but could not come with anything better than “a miner’s coin”, then he even did not want to use his brain to think for a while and made a flawed design due to misundertstanding of probability, how do you like that? And lastly, he found some “programmer” who decided to cheat on the noob and did not bother to write the code well. Haste makes waste, so they say.

BitMit?
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alt Coin you like best on: July 15, 2013, 11:17:33 AM
That should be a pretty good level of granularity that we can still express small amounts of money even if everyone in the world was using it as their primary currency.

As if Bitcoin weren’t granular enough.
Even if Bitcoin price reaches $10000 with current granularity (which can be easily adjusted if the needs arise) one can deal with prices up to 0.01 cents. Which is not so useful anyway.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 15, 2013, 07:36:50 AM
I asked everyone what else they want as features but nothing, they're mute.

That’s because no one wants yet another worthless scamcoin, there are enough of those out already, everyone is fed up with them, thank you.

A great coin should have a great and original idea behind it, and such ideas are hard to come by.
117  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Asteroid -- a new Mac mining client on: July 15, 2013, 05:17:08 AM
But let me ask since you brought it up, and I'm honestly very interested, what do you find you like in bfgminer that you don't see in cgminer?

Well, for me it is simply that I have an ASIC and corresponding drivers installed, so I can freely switch between bfgminer and BitMinter client, but as soon as I want to use cgminer, I have to remove kernel extensions and reboot, which is a little bit inconvenient Smiley
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alt Coin you like best on: July 15, 2013, 04:08:25 AM
While bitcoin works like a gold system with an ever increasing value, the inflating nature of liteocin is awesome.

Does not Litecoin share the same deflationary model as Bitcoin? As far as I know the difference is only in number of total coins which is meaningless because of scaling, the faster block generation time which according to different sources makes it more vulnerable to double-spend attacks or more secure, and scrypt that protects against ASICs. Which is again meaningless because the original idea was to let anyone mine on their CPUs and CPU mining is no longer viable. So, could please anyone explain to me the real benefits of Litecoin? I can see none other than it at least has some economy and acceptance.
119  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Asteroid -- a new Mac mining client on: July 15, 2013, 04:02:25 AM
Will you add bfgminer support too?
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alt Coin you like best on: July 15, 2013, 02:55:21 AM
not the oldest, either beercoin or namecoin is the oldest, but LTC is never the less, the best

Namecoin also has a nice idea underneath, but unfortunately does not seem to develop that actively.

It's really come back to life as of late.

Yep, it turns out I was a bit outdated on the info. There is even a GUI client now. I am really happy that such a great idea does not fade away.

I believe we should start a movement to support old cool coins and ignore new crappy ones.
