101  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: btc-i24.com Invest and earn on hourly basis! + BTC gifts ! on: March 25, 2015, 06:00:59 PM
Works kind of as expected. Had an unpleasant surprise today though. I threw some change in there a couple weeks ago and reinvested the interest a couple times a day or whenever i logged in and it built up some. I went to withdraw today and you have to pay a 10% fee to release your original principal AND on any interest you reinvested. Also, quite annoying is, there is no way to withdraw everything at once if you reinvested. You have to manually click on "release" for ever single time you reinvested. Lol. For me in the past 10-15 days that was about 35 different times clicking "release", "confirm", "back to release page".

So in short, when you invest, your money is instantly worth 10% less. You have to wait enough time to earn interest to make up for that 10% fee. You can withdraw the interest as it grows though and that won't be subject to the 10% release fee. Just don't reinvest it like I did.

So how long would you recommend waiting after first withdrawal?

I don't understand what you mean. "after first withdrawal"?

Btc-e.com and bitfinex.com are probably most popular. Both offer short trading and also leverage if you want it. I prefer bitfinex as customer support is way better.

Bitfinex looks promising, and I will look into it later (though they don't trade doges, as I got it so far). I've heard not very good things about the Btc-e exchange (them seem to be keen on ruining their clients). Though, on the other hand, they are long enough in the trade (no pun) to just run away with money...

both btc-e' and bitfinex' support are not good, compared bitstamp and lakebtc.  Sad

Yes, but he was asking which exchanges he can short sell at.

No problem, really. It is always helpful to hear what other people say about this or that exchange. And, in fact, it was me who said that the Btc-e exchange has got a somewhat muddy reputation, so the answer is quite in tune...
You know my feelings on Btc-e. I should make a bounty and see if someone can get it back. I just checked, about $180 in there.

FBI won't event blink with their eyes for an item from amazon worth 100$. Lol

True, but who knows what other fraudulent charges are on that card already. You have something shipped to your address and they may come asking questions. Have fun explaining you got a discount from some guy, name you don't know, who you met online. Sounds like a huge headache and not worth the 5% to me.

Hello guys, What do you think about trading strategy martiangle?
Because I want to use this strategy

I'm curious how you would incorporate the martingale into trading. I'm assuming your talking about the martingale betting system? This is when you double your bet when you lose until you win. Then you return to a base bet. For it to work your winning return needs to be equal to your bet. How could you do that in the market?

109  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I want to buy bitcoins using paypal balance on: March 21, 2015, 05:41:08 PM
Local bitcoins.com and filter by PayPal. You as the buyer will have to send as gift so you can't chargeback.
Still, even with the reduced risk the rates are quite high on paypal, Easily a couple 10$ higher than the actual price of btc. I reccomend just using interac e-transfer, paypal is not worth it IMO

That is true. Cost wise its cheaper and less of a headache than virwox if paypal is the only option. I agree with you though. Paypal is pretty crappy to buy BTC with.

This works assuming it will go up in the long run. To me that is more investing than trading. Trading consists of long and short positions so you are able to profit on the way down as well as up.

No one can forbid you from selling a small fraction of your bitcoins on downward corrections, and then again pursue this investment strategy after the price rebounds. Also, could you name bitcoin exchanges that allow opening short positions? I'm interested in firsthand experience...

Yes, i had a bad experience with btc-e so I'll admit I'm bias. I still have a few hundred dollars in account there that I can log into and trade but it is impossible to withdraw because the email associated with the account no longer exist. (They require you to confirm withdraws with an email). My fault for the email but customer support will not help me with this. I've submitted dozens of support tickets and jump through hoops to confirm I am the owner. Even proved I had the same IP as when the account was open. All that to no avail. So I chalked it up as a loss. Shrugs.

You say that the email associated with your account no longer exists, but why is it impossible to recreate it? Did you forget the password to it, or was it an email at your previous work? Could you expand more on this, some people could probably help you with your woe...

It was a gmail account that I deleted not remembering it was for btc-e. I never made withdrawls in the $700+ days. Hahaha. I actually tried to recreate it some time ago but was unable to. I wonder if gmail waits some amount of time and then allows one to take the username.

There is a trading technique called Dollar-Cost Averaging, implementing which allows you to buy shares (for example) below the average market price in the long run. The technique consists in regular purchases of a relatively small fixed dollar amount of shares. In this manner, more shares will be purchased at lower prices, and less shares at higher prices, so the average cost per share will be diminishing with time. I see no difficulties in applying this technique to trading in bitcoins (though I didn't try it out personally)...

just buy low and sell high. very simple.
and on days with high volume trading can be very profitable.

Exactly, there is no other "method" for trading.  This is the only way you can trade and be profitable.

Where do you usually trade? any tips or site?

Learninig how to day trade, can learn on other actual fiat sites like eg: timsykes, etc.

The question is either can you use the same style for bitcoin. Some people are suggesting to buy here or whatever at this price. But, I dont think its wise to "chase" trades.

Why would anyone want to do that? Your asking for someone to give away 35% of their money to make this deal.

Use a good indicator and stick with it.

Whats that indicator? I dont see how one would decide on how the trend will go up or down with that. Can you explain?

Sorry for the late reply. That is an indicator I coded on tradingview. The trend is determined by the green and red background. Green you should be long and red short. The bars over the red/green indicate profit for each particular trade.

Is your code public so that one can see the indicitors you use?

I haven't made it public because when you do that, and many people start to use one indicator, it will not be profitable anymore. I guess I should have elaborated a bit in my original post replying to "what is your trading strategy". I should have said create or modify an indicator and use that. Using common indicators everyone else uses will leave you in the dust trading.

So you come over here just to say that you have a profitable trading strategy, but, at the same time, you refuse to reveal the gory details? What is the logic behind your strategy?

Not sure if any details would be "gory", lol. But yes, create your own indicator and you have a good shot at making profits. If you have an idea and would like some assistance I'm happy to help.
