with 2 plugs, how you guys power up? any on/off switch on the psu?

No switch. I plug into PDU that has switches and turn those on/off.

Try one of your s17s on normal speed and range at 80 dB.

The range on the meter is just the min/max it will register in 16db increments. If it's set to 80, it won't read higher than 86db or lower than 70db. I switched to normal speed and there's not much difference in sound compared to low power mode. Will be keeping it set there. I'm seeing around the same db as him with the S15 running at the same time. It only goes above 80db when the S15 fans fluctuate every minute or so and essentially same as second video. I switched the range in that video from 90 to 80 because it dropped below 80.

I have the same db meter. With an S15 and S17 running both on turbo I was seeing 90db. It goes up to 100db when the S15 fan speed spools up. S17 is higher pitched, but fans don't fluctuate constantly like S15. Changing S17 to low power dropped it 10-12db. I am going to keep the S17 on low power or normal because it's way too loud on turbo.

This is S15 and S17 in turbo. You can't even really hear the S15 over high pitched S17 until fans spool up:

104  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: April 25, 2019, 07:25:43 PM
This firmware is good if you want to be able to easily switch between regular and low power mode. I installed when it came out and will be shutting down all 8 series today and replacing with S17. With the original low power firmware I was able to have 821 and 841 units on the same controller. With this firmware, I had to put them on their own controllers as the 821 wouldn't show up on 841 controller. No I did not attempt to flash the MM firmware with them all daisy chained and upgraded them individually. There is a bigger hash rate drop on the 841 than the 821. Both will hash around 9 TH/s.
105  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 24, 2019, 02:33:56 PM
For some reason my import duties/taxes was only $73.52 through DHL. Seems like they only charged the 2.6% unless I'll be getting another bill later.
106  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 23, 2019, 09:41:42 PM
even better - I hear buyers who bought in the first round are also getting coupons for the next round, lower price and coupon discount - much better price.

Yes, received email stating coupons will be provided before May 10th with no expiry.

$338 coupon if you purchased 50 TH/s S17 Pro
$358 coupon if you purchased 53 TH/s S17 Pro

Previously posted price drops were also listed.

I'm interested in noise of this miner..
Bitmain tell 82 db... hight.... but i think that in lower mode ( about 1300 watt and 36 TH) the heat of the miner is not too hight and the fan will rotate slowly than turbo mode... is possible that the miner is quite silent? When someone have one please confirm my idea.

If it's like the S15, the fan speeds are not relatively stable. They constantly fluctuate from low to high speeds and it does this regardless of efficiency settings. The fluctuation is what makes it annoying. I never paid attention to see if it were the PSU fans or the miner, but the S15 is louder than anything else I've ever had and the S17 is supposed to be 6 db louder.

Looks like S17's are shipping

I received notice that mine shipped today.
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: HACKED THIS AFTERNOON! PLEASE HELP! on: April 17, 2019, 08:54:22 PM
If you follow the addresses they split transactions up on, 3BXTZHn8h7v69KoZTnnTU3Qj9TxBejLX9T is associated with BTC ransomware and blackmail scam. I've seen some of those spoofed emails have actual passwords in them to make them more worrisome, so there have definitely been database breaches. If you used the same email/password for everything it could be from whatever breach they obtained those passwords from or a simple phishing scam with fake login. Could have also been a more sophisticated, targeted attack, and only way to try and find out would be to do a full forensic examination of your computers and devices. I'd make forensic copies of everything and then wipe the originals before going back online.
109  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Demo M20 v1 is on order due May 20th on: April 14, 2019, 06:08:16 PM
4 month wait is risky. Almost identical pricing as S17 before coupons, while being less efficient. When they had a 3 month pre-order with the M3, prices were around 50% cheaper by the time they shipped and the cheaper batches shipped only a week or two after pre-order. I will wait until August and for Phil's review. I expect S17's coming online shortly will force these to become even cheaper.
110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 09, 2019, 05:35:26 PM
How is Blokforge able to sell these at such a low price? (20% off Bitmain's retail price)

Their price was TBD. They just launched now at over $3k, which is close to the price from Bitmain with tariff.
111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: April 09, 2019, 05:18:32 PM
I got one last night before they sold out in about 5 minutes. I was debating on paying BTC and waiting for Blokforge to list to use credit, but once I saw them all gone I pulled the trigger and figured I could resale for more if I wanted to. Wished the pricing was closer to what Blokforge listed. Hoping they have a relatively limited supply. Today they've been going out of stock and adding them back for over an hour now. They are probably keeping majority of them since they are already offering plans on Bitdeer starting end of April.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: THE FASTEST MINER IN THE WORLD!!! on: April 05, 2019, 03:41:51 PM
I'm all in. How many tokens do I need to buy to secure 5 miners?
113  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A10 series announced on: April 01, 2019, 08:24:14 PM
I'll never do a preorder in general or buy the *21/first set of a new gen from Canaan again.

Same. I paid almost $3k for an 821 pre-order. Blokforge at least gave out some coupons when the 841 came out cheaper. I had all first batches of 8 series and none of them were even close to ROI and that's before even subtracting electric costs. Only benefit was a tax deduction.
114  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A10 series announced on: April 01, 2019, 05:44:14 PM
So lets say they down clock to 26th at 50 watts  that is better then the s15

Will be interesting to see if you can get those numbers downclocking. I ran my S15 in low power mode for a few days when I first got it in December and it was around 18TH/s @ 50W/TH. Even if you can get those numbers with A10, efficiency is pretty much the same as S15 and Bitmain already beat them to market 4 months ago. It's good if you have older gear and can't get an S15 or S17, but looks like it may already be old gear by the time you can get one. I'm considering selling my S15 before the prices of those plummet.  They need to price it better than S15 for it to be worth it.
115  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A10 series announced on: April 01, 2019, 04:36:49 PM
I just don't see many of these selling when efficiency is pretty much the same as S15 and the S15 is obsolete in a week, assuming Bitmain's release date is not just a pre-sale. If Bitmain ends up being a pre-sale, then they may have a small chance as an alternative to S15, however the pricing needs to be more inline with Bitmain. I just sold my 921's. I don't even want to talk about ROI on 821/841. These units were worthless in less than a year unless you have free power and 921 was really not much more efficient than two 8 series with efficiency firmware.
116  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whatsminer M20 is announced and available for pre-order on: March 18, 2019, 03:05:08 PM
@mgoz  if the s17 does 34th at 1200 watts it will be better I am going to correct my post as for some reason I thought that I was working with  s15 numbers not s17
I changed my post  BTW  do you have a link for those 35 watt a th numbers  as  34th at 1200 watts is very good.

I was only able to find specs on apanel.com and it looks like what I referenced was an old page. Not sure what their source is as I haven't seen anything announced and thought you may have been talking about S15. Specs on their main list are even more efficient than what I posted and put it at 30W/TH. Two different specs listed. One for 34 TH/s @ 1020W and another for 45 TH/s @ 1350W. One is probably T17.
117  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whatsminer M20 is announced and available for pre-order on: March 17, 2019, 04:02:11 PM
the m20 48th is way better then the s17

Unofficial specs I saw for the S17 were 34TH/s @ 1200W and put it at 35W/Th. The M20 48Th is 48W/Th.
118  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: March 12, 2019, 06:44:21 PM
I gave up on firmware upgrades. I just tried the latest updates and they bricked both of my units again. cgminer never even starts and doesn't show in process list. I had to revert back to 09-26-2018 firmware.  Nothing after October 2018 works on mine. If they ever do come out with a low power firmware I'm hoping it works on mine but I won't be surprised if it doesn't.

[Redacted bitcoin address]

I too am from Bulgaria and can confirm this address is also a complete scam.
120  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Avalon A921 is on the way on: January 22, 2019, 07:21:37 PM
If the power brick doesn't work, try loading the October firmware on the controller and miners. I and others couldn't get the January firmware to work and appears to not be compatible with all 921 units. January firmware bricked mine, however, I could still login to OpenWRT. Just no connections, no miners showing, and repeated boot loop. Cgminer would not start at all.

I reverted back to this firmware on the miners:

And this on the controller:
