121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: January 11, 2019, 06:08:46 PM
Seems they are selling 27 TH/s and 28 TH/s batches at different prices now. My scoring hashrate has been averaging 28-30 TH/s on Slush and sometimes spikes at 32 TH/s. No problems since turning it on.
122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Avalon A921 is on the way on: January 10, 2019, 06:04:07 PM
I did also.  I'm also wondering if it was an issue by having the 921s paired up instead of single?  Something else I need to work out.

I guess it doesn't matter which is upgraded first since I did the miners first and latest firmware didn't work after upgrading controller. Mine are also chained and on dedicated 921 controller. Firmware did upgrade on miners and controller, just bricked them to where they no longer showed in OpenWrt. Prior to upgrading controller, they still showed in OpenWrt but kept rebooting with older controller firmware and latest miner firmware. Seems to be a firmware issue because I can revert back to previous versions fine. I'm leaving them alone until they hopefully release low power firmware.
123  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 40TH/80TH new Miners??? Swiss Miner on: January 08, 2019, 08:29:16 PM
A record resolves to Bulgaria. Using name servers for this domain and hosted on same server:

http://tiaragaliano.com (lingerie site)

Also, I just checked their site and they now have them listed for sale. Contact info is for Tiara Galiano in Bulgaria, so it's a Bulgarian lingerie company selling bitcoin miners claiming to be Swiss.
124  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: If your miner is not showing on the network > here is what you doing wrong. on: January 08, 2019, 07:00:08 PM
Some miners ship with a default static IP. For those, you need to know what the static IP is. If static IP is on a different subnet, you need to change your PC's IP to be on the same subnet as miner in order to access it and then enable DHCP or set a static IP for miner on same subnet as your network. If you try to do an IP scan and it's on a different subnet than the computer you are scanning from, it will never show up in scan results. Static IP is usually mentioned in manual. Scanning to find the IP will only work if it's on the same subnet.

Did you update controller or miners first? I was going to try doing the controller first but not sure if I'll bother with it.

Actually the OpenWrt 20190103 worked but installing MM 2019-01-03 caused it to look brick-ish Smiley

I experienced exact opposite. Latest MM worked, but OpenWrt bricked them into idle status. Reverted back to OpenWrt 20181011, but still on MM 20190103. I upgraded MM first. I tried flashing a few more times and power cycling before reverting back.

Edit: Trying to keep MM 20190103 with older OpenWrt caused them to keep rebooting. Reverted to MM 20181025 and good so far.

I will load it up tonight. Change log only says optimized machine performance.
128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: January 04, 2019, 08:51:57 PM
I received my S15 yesterday. I have it in regular mode currently and it's been averaging 29 TH/s on Slush. Not sure on power draw as I have no meter. The fans seem a little crazy. They will be more quiet than anything else on my rack and then go into full blast like the unit has been rebooted and be louder than anything else. Goes quiet and loud over and over. I will have to double check, but both fans seemed to be sucking air in, not exhausting, similar to Z9 units. My ambient air temp with all my other equipment running is around 50* F.

They were accepting credit cards previously. Maybe they got a lot of charge backs from batch 1? I'm still waiting on mine and disappointed that I will essentially be receiving it the same time as batch 2. No point in doing pre-orders when they drop the price and you don't receive on time.
130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: December 25, 2018, 03:38:13 PM
I'm not sure on significance of the device hardware errors. Both of mine also report them and I saw as high as 70% during initial boot. While running full hash, they seem to stay around 5-15%. With two, I'm seeing 39.2 TH/s average on pool with default settings. You may want to try to just let it run on default settings for awhile to see what you get. I had issues with the second one in chain initially and it was either from the controller having newer firmware than miners, PSU, changing default settings, or possible damage in shipping as the cases came with dents.

Initially I was using an old P3 2100w PSU that came with an M3 and trying Phil's settings. Thinking it was a power issue, I hooked up a Sorcerer to one board and the P3 to the other. I did this at same time as upgrading firmware and switching back to default settings so not sure what fixed it. I switched back to just the P3 PSU this morning and it's been running fine for a little over an hour. Only other thing with the PSU is that initially I probably had a couple wires off different legs crossed between boards. When I switched back to single PSU, I made sure to use connectors off same legs for each board.

If you're on the September firmware, fan speed settings might not actually do anything or speed may report incorrectly. The October firmware says it's an update to detect fan speed. Stock, looks like these are 10% less efficient than advertised unless you consider their 0-20% power consumption increase. Should be advertised as 20TH/s @ 2000w.

My orders are still processing and past ship date. My first order was #6611. What were your guys order numbers? Curious if they are shipping by when the orders were placed or not. Hoping Canaan also offers some low power firmware.
134  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Avalon A921 is on the way on: December 17, 2018, 05:09:09 PM
Lucky. I somehow ordered one when they were first listed for $399 and price dropped $50 right after submitting. They credited back. No shipping notice yet though.
135  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: December 06, 2018, 07:55:52 PM
I estimate saving 360 kWh of energy a month per miner on low power firmware. Extra hash rate on old firmware isn't worth the 15% increase in energy use for me and would only generate around 0.006 BTC/month per miner. Not even profitable unless rate is $0.06 kWh or less.
136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: December 03, 2018, 05:33:09 PM
I'd guess that they will probably never support AsicBoost since you have to give up all of your current and future patents to license it. AsicBoost is still patent-pending. Anyone who implements it outside of their licensing  (Bitmain) can potentially face legal action if patent is approved.
137  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: December 01, 2018, 03:31:48 PM
I see in the Avalon 8 thread there was a new OpenWRT and MM released just yesterday, but no change log and not sure if it's optimizations or AB.

They are optimizations to lower power use to .085 J/GH at sacrifice of hashrate. Change log only states "Support low power". I didn't see any new settings in OpenWRT to switch between this mode, but possible there's an option switch you can add to specify mode.

821 hashes at 9 TH/s and 841 9.2 TH/s with default voltage offset of 0 on same controller. I don't have a meter handy to check actual power use, but they are running fine on 1200w HP PSUs and should be around 750-800 watts at wall based on claim. Not sure what voltage offset the .085 J/GH is claimed at, as you can sacrifice even more hashrate at -1 or -2.
138  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: December 01, 2018, 04:00:04 AM
My 841 units dropped from 13.7 TH/s to 9.2 TH/s and my 821 units from 11.6 TH/s to 9 TH/s. These are all on the same controller and haven't tried running them on their own. I upgraded MM firmware separately. Voltage level offset set to 0. Claimed .085 J/GH. I don't have meter but that should put them around 750-800 watts. I swapped out some larger PSUs for 1200w HP. Two 841 on this firmware seems like it would be similar to a single 921.

No you'll still need to add in shipping and card fees at checkout with them, ordering from Bitmain is much cheaper.

With tariff and shipping, Bitmain price is at least $2k ($1475 + $407 tariff + $130 shipping). Blokforge is $2200 shipped with card fees. If you have Bitmain coupons I suppose it may be better to order direct, but I'd rather support a U.S. business when difference is minimal especially when they've helped me out with free product in the past.
140  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 08, 2018, 06:20:41 PM
I wouldn't spend crypto on it. Blokforge has them available with credit card and total is about the same you'd pay ordering from Bitmain after tariff and shipping if you're in the U.S. Pricing is better than anything else on the market and I don't see price dropping unless Innosilicon, Canaan, or another manufacturer engages in a  price war.
